Avis sur Nightcap Austin
Food is GREAT, drinks are yum, staff is so warm and friendly and kind. Its owned by a great couple. Had some really good times here!!
You cannot go wrong at nightcap. Everything on the menu is fantastic, the vibes are always incredible, and the staff (especially the owner!) is so welcoming and kind.
Cozy green house bar with intimate 2 and 4 person tables. Impeccable vibes, somehow upscale without being suffocating or performative like many Austin "upscale casual" restaurants. I think even the chef came out to welcome us during happy hour along with our server and some other lady. The bathrooms have cloth towels, floss picks, and mouthwash. Pretty awesome. $28 for the charcuterie should be illegal (happy hour is $18, worth it, and the prosciutto is probably half the cost so what can u do), but the brussels and gnocchi were good, and the drink names are funny.
Went to Nightcap with my friend and ordered the burger, and wow. It was seriously delicious. Perfectly cooked, great flavor, and the kind of bun that actually holds its life together. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. Great service, great vibe, and truly a great burger. I’d go back just for that alone.
Nightcap is the perfect late-night dining spot — classy, cozy, and full of personality. The desserts are incredible, but honestly, every dish I’ve had here has been excellent. It’s the kind of place where you can relax over cocktails and great conversation. A hidden gem for anyone who loves good food and ambiance.
Had a reservation for a mid week early dinner, even though I didn’t need it. Immediately greeted by the host and bartender. They were interested in me, my company, if we had been here before, etc. Highly personalized service. Made me feel very welcome and immediately separated them from other places. Cocktail menu is cheeky and creative, and the wine menu has variety and sophistication where necessary. Menu was great - we focused on the sea food and the octopus and market fish absolutely slapped. The appetizer Brussels sprouts were great - not too much soy and not over cooked. The desert menu was limited and they focused on cake but the chocolate was great. Probably could have held half the marshmallow but it was easy enough to leave it on the plate. It was delicious. The host caters properly to the mix in the room and had a great playlist that kept me there long after dinner was over. I highly recommend this place for happy hour, dinner, and well - a night cap.
Woah. I’ve left my share of reviews but this place? It deserves the HIGHEST praise. Our visit was literal perfection. We were taken care of so well by Christin. The experience was unforgettable and we will be back. If you are reading this review and haven’t been here… go now. You’ll cherish the moment for the rest of your life. 👏
What a GEM! I came here because traffic was bad, and HH lasts till 7pm. Thank you universe! I like to support small businesses, but there is typically a cost: less selection, lower quality or a different vibe. Not here! I was warmly welcomed, and genuinely felt that it was real. Add to that quality award winning seasonal food from a named Chef, AND great drinks. BOOM drop the mic!
One of the best restaurants in Austin! Do not miss the elderflower spritz, burrata, Mediterranean salad, arancini balls, and the gnocchi. Seriously delicious food served quickly and with excellent service! I can’t wait to return. The restaurant, like many Austin spots, is in an older house and has a great outdoor seating area as well. It would have been absolutely perfect if the room next to ours wasn’t shoved full of equipment partially hidden by a curtain that didn’t quite cover everything. Otherwise, it was fabulous!
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant this past Wednesday evening. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch—Ellie, our server, was especially kind and attentive. She made us feel genuinely welcomed and even recommended the fried chicken special (available only on Wednesdays), which turned out to be absolutely delicious. The drinks were also a highlight—crafted perfectly and full of flavor. We opted for the outdoor seating, which was cozy, charming, and added to the overall relaxing vibe of the evening. Everything from the food to the ambiance and service was spot on. I’ll definitely be coming back, especially for that fried chicken!
I really enjoyed my time at Nightcap. I made a reservation and Christin reached out before my time asking if there was any celebrations for the evening. I explained that we were having a goodbye for one of my friends who is moving and we were greeted with champagne and smiles. The happy hour deals were great and everything I ate and drank was delicious. The staff was very kind. I will definitely be going again!! Indoor and Outdoor seating was available as well as street parking and a small parking lot in the back of the building.
Can I please give 10 stars? I hosted a holiday brunch recently at Night Cap. The entire experience from start to finish was amazing. Mario helped come up with the perfect menu and drink options and the ambience was exceptional. Perfect! The entire staff was helpful and attentive. The food was out of this world. We were treated like friends and not just another event. This is why I support this small business in Austin. I will definitely be going back often to enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere of Nightcap.
Nightcap 🌙 Had a great experience here for Happy Hour! Went on Friday around 6pm and was able to be seated at the bar with a friend. I had the Before the Pickle gets Tickled Cocktail which was refreshing - not too sweet so this was great. For food we shared the carnitas grilled cheese which was loaded and had this delicious spicy ketchup/hot sauce combo. The crispy polenta was also very very good - I recommend this as it was light and very flavorful. The vibe of Nightcap was great staying true to its Austin roots with a bungalow style home transformed into a restaurant. Bravo ! Loved it!
This is a great happy hour spot after a good or even rough day at work. Started my evening off with a FORGIVE ME FATHER, FOR I HAVE GIN-NED Cocktail which included wild bark gin, luxardo maraschino, green chartreuse, ginger liqueur, lime. To follow I enjoyed the crispy Brussel sprouts, ARANCINI PUTTANESCA, and Carnitas grilled cheese - which was to die for! May seem pricey at first but flavors make up for it! You’ll enjoy options for both indoor and outdoor seating and wait staff is well versed in menu items and delights in helping. An overall grand time!
Really delicious food and equally great drinks. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is very relaxing and casual. The decor is very pretty and the restaurant location isn’t in a super busy area. Service was great. Definitely more expensive for their main course items but they also have a decent happy hour.
Nightcap is my new favorite spot in downtown Austin. The vibe and food go hand in hand. It truly is a restaurant in its own category. Try the nightcap burger, you will thank me later. The drinks are amazing and the guest DJs play the soundtrack to your life while you’re there! Highly recommend this place!
Service, food, and atmosphere were excellent for a date night. Drinks missed the mark though unfortunately. Drinks were $20/ea and they were small and didn't really taste the best lol. But food was great. We had the broccoli soup and also the grilled cheese, both delicious. This place is usually always packed.
We had a reservation for 10. When we arrived (5 minutes early), they did not have a table prepared for us, even though the restaurant was not busy. We waited 10 minutes for them to ready the table. When they took us to our table, they had 10 place settings but only 8 seats. They had forgotten to put chairs at the ends of the table. The hostess said she would grab some chairs and be right back. Two of our family members stood awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant, waiting for chairs that never came. After a couple of minutes, my husband went and found chairs, then brought them to our table. The rest of the evening went much the same. Cocktail orders went in before food orders, but appetizers came out long before our drinks. We had literal shot glasses for our water. We had to ask for the check. Our waitress dropped it off and never came back. After 10 minutes we went up to the bar to pay. Honestly, it was some of the worst service we've had in a very long time. The restaurant lost money because we didn't order a 2nd round of drinks or dessert due to the slow service. The food, however, was delicious.
I live in Austin and dined at Night Cap for the first time. The service was decent, atmosphere was nice/comfortable. Drinks may be their forte but they do not offer upfront that Happy Hour is only if seated at the bar. The bigger disappointment is the food — this is where I have mixed reviews and Night Cap fell short. As an appetizer, we tried the Crispy Polenta - I would recommend this dish. It was light but very flavorful and the polenta was fluffy yet crispy. My husband ordered the octopus, highly recommend by the waitress. The portion was a bit small and the octopus was barely present - small tips of octopus legs and no flavor. Being a huge fan of octopus, my husband felt the dish was a major disappointment. I ordered the popular burger, which I must say was quite good. Good ratio of quality beef to bun and simple, not overdone with toppings and condiments. However, the fries were horrific - oily and limp, there wasn’t a crisp potato in the ample side serving. The waitress returned and asked if we wanted to take the fries home - only one was missing from what was served. We stated how terrible, greasy and unappealing the fries were. She responded that “they are twice fried which gives them a different texture.” We’ve had tried fried fries before and the sete did not measure up; they were barely warm and soaked in not hot enough oil. The waitress showed no regard for our feedback or satisfaction. She quickly returned with the full priced $90 bill. I am doubtful that we will return to this neighborhood spot.
Super mixed emotions about my visit last night. Not being an Austin native, someone that lives here recommended this spot to us. Super cozy ambience in here must admit. The staff 10/10. The food is what I’m giving this spot a 3 stars instead of 5. We started off with a Cheese & Charcuterie board. Nothing crazy about it. Great appetizer to start with. My main entree was a Roasted chicken that was on top if some sort of sauce & a red sauce. The white sauce reminded me like some sort of yogurt. Red sauce mixed with the white sauce balanced out and had a better taste as I dipped my chicken too. Chicken was good, crispy skin and seasoned well. Now, this plate had a bunch of radishes that just didn’t find it good also for the arugula. Menu claims to have roasted bell peppers and pecans. I didn’t see any of it, must’ve been blended into that red sauce I mentored earlier. Second dish was a Night Cap burger. Pretty good burger must say. Super juicy, can’t really mess up a burger. Patties were just a tad bit salty which had me drinking water after each bite. The fries that came along were mediocre. Lastly, dessert. By our waiter he recommended their Banana Foster pudding. I could tell it wasn’t made fresh that day of because the bananas were definitely ripened. They had a dark color to it. Also what was interesting was that this dessert felt like it had some sort of nutmeg spice or even cinnamon that I felt like it was overpowering the whole dessert itself. Not enjoyable at all. Overall, I had better expectations for the food itself. Stated before the staff were great. Nothing towards them, super attentive throughout the experience. I might come back to try different food options and maybe their cocktails in the future.
Nightcap was such a letdown. The owner, Christin, kept interrupting and being downright invasive the whole time. Totally ruined the vibe and my night. A bar should be a place to relax, not to deal with unprofessional behavior from its own owner. Definitely not the experience I expected or would return for.
