This location is by my friends house. I introduced her to your restaurant a few months back and we are both enjoying our meet ups there. Our goal is to try different dishes each time until we have tried everything on the menu. We also want to try it for breakfast. We will be returning for awhile as it might take us a bit to try the entire menu. The staff is always patient, helpful and like to educate us and guide use with descriptions of the dishes. Thank you to everyone who works there for making our dinners so enjoyable!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sangam Chettinad Restaurant was an amazing experience! The food was absolutely outstanding—rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and truly authentic. The service was just as impressive, making us feel comfortable and well taken care of. A special mention to Durga, who was so helpful and attentive throughout our visit. Her friendly attitude made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for both great food and excellent service!
Visited Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisine on Thanksgiving and waited about 25 minutes, which is expected on a busy day. Tried their masala dosa and rasmalai. The dosa had good flavor and a nice crisp, though it felt like it had room to be even better. The rasmalai was the star of the visit. It was incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced and a true 10 out of 10. Service was impressive as well. Staff checked on us often, offered more chutney and anything we needed, and were consistently polite. Overall, a pleasant experience.
This is where my little family chose to welcome home Nonna for the holidays. They're hooked and wanted me to try it. Such a feast! Their platter specials were enormous and unbelievable for the cost! Totally worth it if you enjoy Indian cuisine. Like I really think they need bigger tables. I can't remember all the names of the dishes just on one platter. I could swear there was enough for three meals ahaaaha! Thanks you guys for such patient attentive service. They had to explain a couple of times which items were vegetarian-only. I wasn't able to mix and match. I'm only part-time vegetarian, but no worries. Indian cuisine is one of the most savory and rich in flavors. Definitely recommended for those with a spicy palate.
My family and I tried this place while visiting my son in Austin. May I say if you like South Indian cuisine, then Sangam will absolutely impress you. The place was very busy on a Friday night. I was expecting a wait-time of at least 45 mins to 1 hour. Fortunately we got seated within just 10mins! The place was clean and the restrooms were also spotless. Our server was a friendly, professional and smiling young lady - Rishita. She was very polite and explained the difference in dishes. Our order arrived in a timely manner. We thoroughly enjoyed Sangam Special Meen curry, Aviyal, Special Mutton masala, Daal fry, Naans and Parotta. For dessert we had the Rava Kesari. It had been a long while since I’ve tasted authentic South Indian cuisine like this. I look forward to returning soon.
This was our first time visiting Sangam in Austin, and from the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the customer service felt like true white-glove service. Our waiter, Tharun, was incredibly helpful and attentive. He walked us through the menu, explained the specials, and even helped us choose dishes since we were new to the restaurant. His recommendations were spot on! We started with the Panner Burke Dosa and the Special Thali and both were absolutely to die for — full of flavor and perfectly prepared both came with 4 different sauces that were all full of flavor my favorite was the green one. Then on to the main entrees we got Goat Marsala and the Butter Chicken. I mean I do not even know what to say because both were the best tasting food I have ever ate! The food came out quickly, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. For naan, we tried both garlic and butter. I personally preferred the butter naan, while my husband loved the garlic — you honestly can’t go wrong with either. Overall, an excellent dining experience with outstanding service, delicious food, and a welcoming environment. We will definitely be coming back!
We’ve been coming here for a few years now! First time they recommended the Tika Masala as the best dish to try and since then we’ve been lucky to hear about the specials during dinner. We have pretty much loved everything we’ve tried here! The spicy level is 🥵 the herbs and flavors are rich! The portions are great! A place for two or a big party! When we came for birthday gathering it was a surprise experience! (They play happy birthday song on the speaker with birthday person’s name 🤭♥️) My favorite is their weekday vegetarian lunch special! It comes with so much variety! Sometimes the server is really patient about explaining and recommending and sometimes not so much. They are also usually a very busy place so be patient! If you are new to the cuisine they now have tons of pictures on their online ordering! So check them out!
Best Indian food in Austin!!! The staff was kind and friendly, especially our server. The wait was only 5 minutes. We had tandoori chicken and roti, chicken tikka masala, egg curry (dairy and gluten-free), and the most amazing mint mocktail. Second visit on Christmas Day. Still great food and good service. A special thanks to Mounika, who is the kindest and most amazing server. We love coming here because of the food and excellent service Mounika provides
We had a wonderful and interesting experience at Sangam Chettinad Austin. The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. The staff made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. The manager was particularly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy, even offering us two special appetisers dishes to try. We left feeling completely satisfied and impressed with the hospitality. Highly recommend this place!
Deserves 10 ⭐️ ! Was recommended to us to try and hands down the best Indian food we've ever had. Can't wait to return to try more. The dosa's looked amazing, will give those a try next time. We had a weekend lunch special and lamb biryani. Very flavorful, great variety and popping flavors! Only recommendation is that if not familiar with menu items, look at their online menu for descriptions, paper menus just give a name and price. But the food definitely made up for that. Don't think could have gone wrong with any selection. In addition, our waitress was very helpful and offered great recommendations. Cant wait to return!
I had a really enjoyable experience at Sangam. The moment I walked in, the festive decorations and warm lighting created such a cheerful and inviting atmosphere. The hanging ornaments, colorful lights, and detailed holiday displays made the whole place feel vibrant and full of life. You can tell they put real effort into creating a great vibe for their guests. The hospitality was just as impressive. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everything felt well-organized even though the restaurant was busy. A special shoutout to my server, Priyanka, who did an amazing job. She was incredibly sweet, checked on us often, and made the whole experience even better. Overall, the vibe, décor, food ,and service were all outstanding. I’d definitely recommend Sangam and would love to visit again!
This place serves up some absolutely amazing and comforting South Indian food! ❤️ The service is super friendly- especially pooja, who made the whole experience so pleasant and welcoming. You have to try their breakfast items- they are the best. The place has a good vibe, really welcoming!!
Looking for authentic Indian cuisine, look no further. Don’t believe me, check out the thousands of reviews! Sangam Chettinad is excellent. I’ve been a few times and am delighted to try new cuisines each time. This time was the non-veg lunch special which has a full tray of things to try! Priyanka was so friendly and attentive to our needs. I’ll be back!!
The food is super good here. Priyanka and Alister were our hosts and they were very polite and helpful with the menu, services and food suggestions. I tried Mysore masala dosa and it was super good. Must try. Overall the aesthetics, service, and food is all excellent at Sangam Chettinad restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place for dining.
We had lunch here and it was absolutely awesome! The food was incredibly delicious — honestly, even in India we haven’t had food this tasty. Elam was very helpful and guided us in choosing the right dishes. Overall, we’re very happy and will definitely come again. Highly recommend this place to all my friends!
Visited Sangam Chettinad for Sunday lunch and had a great experience. I ordered a dosa and a mango lassi — both were excellent. The dosa was fresh, crisp, and full of flavor, and the mango lassi was smooth and refreshing. Our waiter, Dharan, was friendly, helpful, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. We sat out on the patio, which had a nice casual atmosphere and let us skip the indoor waitlist. The food tasted authentic and well-prepared, and the overall quality stood out compared to other South Indian spots in Austin. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Chettinad cuisine in a relaxed setting.
It was a wonderful experience! We had some of the best Indian food we've tried in the US. Our servers, Alaistair and Priyanka, were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything arrived on time with great hospitality. We ordered the benne dosa, the dosa–idli combo, and chicken lollipops—all of which were delicious. For drinks, we tried the special strawberry ginger lemonade and the original fresh lime soda; both were refreshing and complemented the food perfectly. The ambience was lively and welcoming, with good Indian songs playing in the background. Overall, a great spot for authentic flavors and a fun dining experience.
Just a fantastic spot, had this amazing 3 juice drink non alcohol. Got 3 different dishes unfortunately I can’t name them lol. Garlic naan was fantastic too. Great atmosphere with nice decorations hanging from the ceiling. 1 and only complaint was this door they kept going in and out of to serve outside guests was close to my booth, and it kept slamming and vibrating my seat. Place is super packed at lunch and dinner during the weekends. Not sure how it is during the week.
We went for dinner with my family. We ordered Ambur biryani, idly, vada, hot milk, and the chef’s special fried pomfret fish. The idly was good. However, the Chettinad thawa fry was not up to the mark. The biryani tasted okay but was a bit oily. The badam milk was fine.
Sangam Chettinad is a popular South Indian restaurant known for its traditional flavors, especially a mix of Andhra and Chennai-style cuisine 🇮🇳🍛. I’ve tried several items here, including the biryani, pulao, naan, and curry, but honestly, those dishes didn’t appeal to me much in terms of taste 😕. That said, their thali is quite good 👍. It offers a satisfying combination of Andhra and Chennai delicacies with a good variety of flavors. The true highlight for me is their Benne Dosa 🤤🥞—I absolutely love it and keep coming back just for that. It’s crispy, flavorful, and very well made. I also tried their Thatte Idly, which was soft and delicious. In my opinion, this is one of the best places in Austin for dosa and idly 🌟. The food service is impressively fast ⏱️, with orders usually arriving within 10–15 minutes, which is great even during regular dining hours. On weekends, the restaurant gets quite busy, and it can be difficult to find a table, so some waiting time should be expected ⏰. One area that needs attention is hygiene ⚠️. I noticed my table was not cleaned properly, and there was some mess underneath that hadn’t been taken care of, which affected the overall dining experience. Overall, Sangam Chettinad is a decent and good place for South Indian food lovers, especially for dosa and idly, with room for improvement in cleanliness.
Sangam is a solid South Indian spot, popular around here judging by the line, we were not the only ones who think so. Food was good, except sambar was kinda bland - could've used some spice. Chutneys were standard. Watch out for soggy dosas (Madurai Mail dosa was a bit wet) - they apply chutneys inside. Next time I am ordering without the masala to keep it crispy. Worth a visit if you're nearby. One thing missing in the ambiance was A bit of background music and incense it should naturally elevate the vibe.
This is a pretty good place with good options. Food is quite well done and pretty authentic to Indian flavors. However, I would definitely curb your expectations when looking at the reviews. Is it good? Yes. Is it worth 19k 4.7 stars? I don’t think so. What rubbed me the wrong way was the server being very insistent on us reviewing once we paid for our meal and when I refused to rate in the moment, he sort of scoffed. I honestly would’ve left a better review if not for that. Please don’t pressure people to leave reviews and let your food speak for itself, because it is pretty good.
First time visiting this restaurant and overall a nice experience! We tried three dishes: the dosa, vegetarian biryani, and a staff-recommended coconut curry. The dosa was excellent—crispy, flavorful, and we enjoyed every bite. The biryani and curry, however, were a bit too salty for our taste. We asked for a less-salty version of the biryani, and the staff was kind enough to remake it for us, but the second one turned out quite spicy. We ended up taking it home and adding extra vegetables and tofu, which actually made it really delicious in the end! I’d recommend the kitchen go a little lighter on the salt—you can always add more, but you can’t take it out. Despite this, I appreciate the effort from the staff to accommodate us, and I’d still like to come back and try more dishes next time.
We got seated for a 2 top in like 15 minutes on a saturday. Got seated right next to the exit where staff is constantly coming in and out. Asked the waiter to explain a couple items on the menu to us to decide and was told the region of the food with no further explanation of what the combo platter included. Then I was already in a tiny corner and then asked to move for the cleaning crew cart with no space to do so. I got the weekend platter and EVERY single dish was stale or tasted like it had been sitting out for the entire service. My girlfriend got the butter kofta and it tasted like tomato soup???? The only remotely edible items on my 18 item course were the rice and banana?? I understand this is the only authentic indian place in Austin but you would have to PAY me to go back here. We were out in maybe 10 minutes leaving the majority of the food there.
Karaikudu nattu kozhi masala..oil oil oil.. Will someone eat this? Poorly packed, oil overflowed, spilled everywhere in the bag.. waste of money.. trashed entire quantity Dear Restaurant, Please consider customers health, pouring this much of oil is not at all good and you won’t get you customers back.
