Avis sur Suprabhat Austin
We were traveling from Houston to Austin and decided to stop at Suprabhat on the way and I’m really glad we did. I had the South Indian meals, and it was very good. The food was flavorful, authentic, and felt comforting, just like home-style cooking. It was a perfect stop during our trip, and I genuinely loved the meal. Definitely a great place to visit if you’re craving good South Indian food in Austin.
I had to drive nearly half an hour to get to Suprabhat Indian Restaurant, but it was absolutely worth the trip. This place is a fully vegetarian gem, and they truly deliver on authentic South Indian flavors. We ordered the Suprabhat Thali along with a Mysore Masala Dosa, and both were excellent. The dosa was crisp, perfectly spiced, and the chutney it came with was outstanding- probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time. A nice surprise was that the thali comes with an option to select Poori instead of Chappathi which was a welcome change and paired well with the rest of the dishes. To top it off, I tried both filter coffee and masala tea, and they were spot on—rich, flavorful, and the perfect end to the meal. If you're looking for high-quality vegetarian South Indian food, Suprabhat is definitely worth the drive.
PRAGATHI, a non-profit organization, held a fundraising event on March 8, 2026. When we approached Suprabath and shared our mission and cause, they were very happy to support us. Without a second thought, they generously offered to provide food for the event. Everything was prepared and ready right on time for pickup, and they provided a sumptuous quantity of delicious, high-quality food — all free of charge. Their generosity and kindness truly made a meaningful difference to our event and to the cause we support. We are incredibly grateful for their support. We strongly recommend this wonderful restaurant and kindly encourage everyone to support businesses like Suprabath that step forward to help community causes. Thank you once again from the entire PRAGATHI team for your generosity and support. 🙏
Suprabhat has been one of our top picks for tasty Indian vegetarian food for over a decade now! They have also catered for our family on several occasions for large groups and for big events and we have been very happy with them. They have worked with us to make all customizations requested and have delivered on multiple occasions as well. It has been a breeze to work with them and we have recommended them to multiple folks for event catering. Definitely our pick for a weekday evening pickup or an event catering order!
This place is the definition of a hidden gem. I honestly don’t know how it doesn’t have major awards yet — but I think that’s only because it hasn’t been widely publicized. It’s one of those rare, real secrets you almost don’t want to share because it’s that good. I’ve eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants across North America, including several that have won awards, and many of them were a huge disappointment. Their menus look fancy, the descriptions sound impressive — but there’s no real taste. All hype, no flavor. But not this place. Here, the food is truly authentic — both South Indian and North Indian dishes done exactly the way they’re meant to be. Every bite is packed with real, deep, unforgettable flavor. The food is absolutely spectacular, easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere in North America. The service is incredible too: warm, friendly, fast, and genuinely attentive. The space is clean, well-kept, and surprisingly spotless — even the washrooms, which is something you rarely find in Indian restaurants. It may look like a hole-in-the-wall on the outside, but what comes out of this kitchen is world-class. A true culinary treasure that deserves far more recognition than it gets.
I was in Austin downtown for business and due to the storm, flight cancellations, I had to stay over the weekend. Saturday morning, craving for some South Indian breakfast, looked up online and drove 30 mins to Suprabhat. It was a very quiet day as obviously everyone’s trying to stay warm and not be on the road, the staff, everyone who was working there was smiling and happily taking orders and serving. Very clean and nice staff. I had the idly Vada combo and a dosa, everything tasted very authentic, glad I made the drive and stopped here to give it a try.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. The food was delicious, and the ambience was great too. Ms Arunima's exceptional hospitality made our visit even more special. Her recommendation for the dosa was spot on, and we appreciated the warm treatment we received. We love to come back.
A lovely place for vegetarians! The ambience is calm and pleasant, perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal. The staff is very welcoming and polite, which really makes you feel comfortable. It’s a pure vegetarian restaurant, and we tried both the North Indian and South Indian veg thalis. Both were tasty, well-balanced, and satisfying. We also ordered dosa and ghee karam idly, and everything was fresh and full of flavor. Overall, we had a great experience here. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good vegetarian food.
I’ve had the South Indian veg thali at this place a couple of times, and it has been excellent every single time. The food tastes just like authentic homemade South Indian food. I truly hope they maintain the same quality and consistency going forward. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try a traditional South Indian thali. The ambiance and hospitality are wonderful as well—they really make you feel at home.
I don’t even know where to begin because this Indian all-vegetarian restaurant blew me away in every possible way. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest smiles and kindness that made me feel instantly at home. The staff wasn’t just polite they were genuinely kind, attentive, and full of heart. You can tell they really care about their food and their guests. Now let’s talk about the food… WOW. Every single dish was bursting with flavor, freshness, and that perfect balance of spice and comfort. It’s rare to find a place that puts so much soul into their cooking, but this one absolutely does. Whether you’re vegetarian or not, you’ll fall in love with the variety and richness of the menu. It’s the kind of food that makes you want to slow down and savor every bite. The ambiance? Super clean, cozy, and inviting like the kind of place you want to bring your friends, your family, or even just spend time by yourself with a giant plate of something delicious. You leave feeling full, happy, and oddly peaceful. Truly an unforgettable experience. I’ll be coming back again and again, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to do the same.
This small Indian restaurant is really good. It’s one of my top Indian restaurants around Austin and they also have a case full of desserts which are fantastic if you’ve never had Indian desserts, you should try some. The menu is huge and has no photos so you sort of have to know what you’re ordering or ask. They have a lot of things here that I don’t typically see on the menu of Indian restaurants and so far, everything has been great.
We came in from Houston to visit and found this Indian restaurant near our hotel. When we walked in, there was beautiful Indian music. That’s when I knew they knew what they were doing. We started with a samosa chaat and it was so tasty. I loved the fresh tomatoes in it, then we ordered dal and paneer tikka masala with rice & garlic naan. That was the best garlic naan I’ve ever had! The dal was a tiny bit oversalted but other than that, that’s perfect Indian food. We finished it with an Indian soda called thumbs up which just tasted like Pepsi. And I couldn’t resist trying their rasmali. Perfect way to end the meal. We had delicious leftovers. With tip we spend $70 but it was worth every penny! Can’t wait to visit Austin again!
Always delicious and high quality! By far my favorite indian restaurant in Austin bar none.

The ambiance was cute, casual with an essence of India. The service was amazing. Food was good too. The sev puri, poori chole, and chikoo shake were really good. Will come back again!
Food was great, as was service . And it's quiet, soft Indian music, you know, demure! Seriously, well done. FIVE STARS.

All food was testy and service was excellent We visit with all my families . Subhashbhai Dave & Family
Delectable food of the South Indian cuisine served on traditional banana leaves & a nice variety of sides/curries arranged around the thali. I also liked the ceiling fixtures.
I came here for dinner with my family friends, sat in the hut area the food was SOSO goodd!! Honestly and the staff was super nice too :) but I only had a teensy problem which is I ordered the non alcoholic pina colada which I had a lot of expectations for which is bad on my part but the taste itself was good not sure if I can rlly rate it since it was my first, but I liked it the presentation was my problem, i expected yellow but it was white in color, a fancy glass and decor but it was a normal drinking water one but taste is what matters right?
Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and it was ok for me. I was trying some new stuffs out. My buddy tried a fish curry and he didn't enjoy it bc the fish for him was not fresh. I tried the Goat Roganjosh and it was very tasty, I didn't love it but it was good. I think what we both liked was the chicken frankie, for some reason it came last, but I guess it was worth the wait. The outside was like a thin roti. Inside it was very flavorful, filled with chicken onions and spices. It was like an Indian pizza pocket but it puts them to shame. I would come back to try some other dishes.

I have known Suprabhat for a long time but had never reviewed it. We recently went there for breakfast and tried the chili rava dosa, puri, and medhu vada. The food did not taste very good; considering the prices of their costliest menu, we had expected better. Our bill stood around 45$ for 3 items.
service has definitely improved. The staff is a lot friendlier. My favorite combos are gone - idle+pongal+vada combo, pongal+dosa+vada combo, upma peaarattu, etc. Prices have gone up 30-40% to go…

I generally don’t leave bad reviews, but the food ordered on 2/20/2026 was so tasteless that I was compelled to write this. I ordered Dal Makhani to-go. The dal makhani had no taste, no cream and a tiny serving size. I paid $18 for this tasteless food. Austin offers a much more vibrant food scene. I’d personally not order from here anymore until the restaurant takes feedback seriously.
We tried Suprabhat on our way back from Austin for Lunch as it had such good reviews and it closer to where we stayed in Austin. We ordered their Pani Puri, Kids Plain Dosa, Masala Dosa and North Indian Thali, There was an elderly person who appears to own the shop and he spoke in Tamil, and claimed to be from Chennai. He was the one who was at Cash Counter as well, though we are not sure if he was the one who owns it. He recommended us to try their Thalis, and we tried their North Indian Thali, which had an option of a Puri vs Chappathi. Though there were 2 Chappathis, The Chappathi's were rubbery and appeared to be the ready made variety, heated and given to us. The accompaniments given were Channa Masala, Veg Kuruma, Dal, Paneer Gravy, Yogurt, Beet Root Fry, Masala Vadai etc., and Butter Milk dried Chilli and Pickles. First, for a North Indian Thali, there was no salad cucumber or onion, secondly, they provided Pinapple Kesari as the sweet. The Paneer Gravy was neither Kadai Paneer nor Paneer butter masala. The channa masala tasted smoked and over cooked, Dal was bland and tasteless. Only the Veg Kuruma was eatable. Have never had Pinapple Kesari provided as a Dessert with North Indian Thali as well before, and the Kesari was more on the sides of a sweetened Pongal made out of Suji. Coming to Dosas, The Potato Masala in Masala Dosai was bitter, though it had fresh butter. The peanut chutney, ginger chutney and cilantro chutney were below average and were not authentic. The Sambar tasted sour and tangy with the flavor of Tamarind standing out over everything else. The Pani Puri was average variety, the only good thing was it was less spicy. Then we finished with Mango Lassi, which was drinkable. Overall, for the 3 of us who went seeing an All Vegeterian Fare and a near 5 Star Reviews, This place was a big let down
I ordered Plantain Bajji, which was served with absolutely no salt. When I pointed it out, the staff member simply offered me salt on the side. I explained that adding salt to already fried fritters is not possible and asked if they could remake it. She said she would check with the manager, but never returned. Instead, she continued serving other customers while ignoring us completely. After finishing the rest of our food, we went to the counter to raise the issue again and were glad they at least did not charge for that item. While I appreciate that, the handling of the situation was very poor. A simple update — even if they couldn’t remake it — would have shown basic respect and care for customers. Instead, the experience reflected indifference and a lack of accountability.
Bad quality, too little quantity and too pricey. Just visited this place today and found it is not worth the money. There are many better choices in Austin. Ordered malai kofta and it had literally…
Never order thali meal, you would regret it priced at 19$ quantity very less suitable for a kid meal and missing items for a thali and not fresh. Worst choice and waste of money. Also felt food rotten
Extremely disappointing experience. The woman at the front desk was rude, dismissive, and completely unwelcoming. Zero hospitality. If you can’t treat customers with basic respect, you shouldn’t be in the service industry. The food quality has also fallen off a cliff. On a previous visit, my wife loved the Aloo Paratha because it was generously stuffed with potatoes. This time, we ordered two, and there was barely any filling at all. What we received was dry, tasteless, and unacceptable. We were forced to throw the food away something we never do but it was simply not edible. The inconsistency between dine-in and delivery is alarming and shows a clear lack of quality control. Between the rude front-desk behavior and the drastic drop in food quality, this place is no longer worth the time or money. Would not recommend. Plenty of better options nearby.
