For my Birthday Date Night, we decided to go here, someplace different. It is HIGHLY memorable, with VERY friendly staff, a large selection of beverages, a decent stage, & a really good sound system- the band they had playing was absolutely amazing, too! We had a GREAT time while we were there!
Casual digs, great bartenders, always fantastic folk playing here. Sparkling psychedelic vibes all around. Don't be afraid to dance here!

The 13th Floor is a great bar with a fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it stand out from more ordinary spots. The space feels lively without being overwhelming, and it works well whether you’re stopping in for a quick drink or planning to stay longer with friends. Drinks are well-made and reasonably priced for the $ range, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the visit. The crowd adds to the vibe, giving the place a social, upbeat feel. With such a strong rating, it’s easy to see why this bar has become a favorite for a casual night out.
I love 13th Floor and come there often. Amazing bands and great environment! However, I wouldn't say this if it wasn't a constant that made me feel uncomfortable, but there's a guy going by John Espana who claims he's doing security that makes me feel super uncomfortable and makes inappropriate comments.
July 2025 13th floor, an excellent music venue in town. This place does a great job booking. Really good bands, and there is usually a cover, but that's dependent on the band. Occasionally, you can see a free show there but it's not super often. Be sure to bring some of ear plugs, they play it loud in here. Maybe the sound guy is hearing impaired. 🤣 The bartenders there are friendly and pretty fast, I asked them to make me a ranch water and it was quite tasty. The drinks there are relatively expensive compared to other venues, but not too far above the typical Austin downtown range.
This place is a gem with an inviting, spacious vibe that’s perfect for enjoying drinks! The atmosphere strikes an ideal balance—lively yet relaxed, making it great for any occasion. The bartenders are truly exceptional, crafting flawless cocktails with skill and charm, elevating the entire experience. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!
Honestly a great haunted house! Actors where awesome and honestly got a lil spooked! Definitely coming back
The bartenders and owner we so accommodating , lovely, and friendly. Felt like I made new friends after only being there for two nights, def go check it out!
While visiting Austin, we went two nights in a row and saw six bands, five of which were awesome. Decent drink prices, great staff, cool crowd without any attitude. Actually met a lot of cool people while outside smoking. Just wish they had more T-shirts for sale. One XS in stock ain't gonna cut it LOL. Next time! Anyway, super happy we spent time and money here.
It was a great time with it being our first haunted house.
This place looked so cool. All of the actors did an amazing job. I don't normally get scared, but this was just a little scary. If you're looking for a haunted house, this is the one
Fun cozy bar in the heart of downtown Austin! Bar owner Nick was very welcoming and friendly! Historic 1940s bar originally from the Pearl Brewery! Check The 13th Floor for live band schedule.
We had an amazing first visit to the 13th Floor and heard some incredible music. All the acts were great, but it was especially awesome to see Nathan Harlan on stage with a full band. Eric, behind the bar, was a pro. We are looking forward to more nights at the 13th Floor.
It was sad to see the OG 13th Floor go, but they’ve really outdone themselves on the new one. Great drinks, fair prices, amazing service and the sound is incredible for an intimate venue (the best kind). The Thirteenth Floor is my new favorite on Red River, and that’s a big statement from an actual local. Keep up the good work guy 🤘🏼
There may not be many reviews, but, that's because we're all too busy getting drunk and dancing it up!! Always a good time. Great selection of vinyl, awesome DJs, lovely bartenders. You never know when an impromptu dance party will pop up. Dress to impress.

I really wanted to come into this bar but the red head male bouncer refused to allow my sister to come in with a valid texas 21+ ID. the bouncer even verified the ID with a black light flash light but still denied us access to the venue. super disappointing!!! have never had this experience in austin :(

Male bartender barged into the women’s restroom without knocking, with an overly rude and aggressive tone. Context: Last night my friends and I went out for my birthday. It took us a while to find parking and we’d been driving all day, so we REALLY had to use the restroom at that point. We walked into this place and used their bathroom, and afterwards I was planning to get a drink to celebrate bc I liked this places vibe! It was completely dead and completely empty, and judging from the other reviews it sounds like there’s usually a door guy, but whenever we went in there wasn’t anyone but the bartender. I decided against getting drinks though, because shortly after we entered, the male bartender barged into the women’s bathroom with a very aggressive rude attitude (without knocking or anything, no warning) asking if we had our IDs. (We did, obviously. We were literally on 6th street planning to bar hop for my birthday lol.) This made us all very very uncomfortable, so obviously we just decided to leave and get drinks elsewhere. I understand people can be shitty, but I don’t think this was the right approach at all if he was feeling some type of way about it. He definitely should’ve handled his concerns a different way, and especially in a way that wouldn’t make women feel wildly uncomfortable and unsafe because he assumed something. Hoping it was just a one-off bad occurrence for this place! But that was extremely shitty and ruined the vibe. Why would any of us want to get drinks there after being treated that way by the guy who’d be pouring the drinks? The other bars were just a better experience to be had that night I guess.
I attempted to contact the business directly about this experience but they unfortunately never responded. This was many months ago because I wanted to wait and process my experience before I wrote this review. I saw that a band I liked was playing here, so decided to take myself out to see them. I had been here a few times before. It was a weekend night. I parked and walked up and down Red River just to check out what else was going on in the area before I committed to paying a cover. I walked past The 13th Floor, then ultimately came back a few minutes later. I walked up to the door guy smiling. The door guy asks me if there’s something I’m looking for tonight. I wasn’t exactly sure what he meant, or if he was referencing the fact that he saw me walk by already, so I said “not really, just sort of seeing what’s going on! No real direction or plans!” He responds, “that’s sad.” That was a strange response to me so I didn’t really acknowledge it. I hand him my ID, and he says “so, since you aren’t here to see the bands, do you plan on paying for anything or are you just going to be hustling people for drinks all night?” I was completely shocked by this. I could not understand where that was coming from. The only conclusion I could draw was he saw me as a single woman in a short skirt and immediately assumed I was there to “hustle people for drinks”???? Which, by the way, last time I checked, men buying single women drinks at a bar is like 95% of the bar economy so I’m not sure why that would even be a problem as long as the bartenders are still getting tipped. I was silent for a long time trying to process this comment. I assumed his ultimate fear was that I was trying to get in without paying anything, which was strange because we hadn’t even talked about a cover yet. I eventually said “is there not a cover??” to which he responded, “yes, there’s a cover but we’re just having a conversation here.” Once again, completely befuddling. I never once implied I was unwilling to pay a cover or have a conversation about said cover. I said, “is [band name] not playing here tonight??” He responded, with this weird sort of feigned surprise, “Oh, so you are here to see the bands!!!” I pay the cover and go in, but at this point am shaking with anger. I am a thirty year old woman but was treated like a 17 year old scamming street urchin. It has been a long time since I’ve been belittled like that. I will only return here as seldom as possible to support the bands I like, but do not plan on purchasing anything. Hell, maybe next time I will “hustle people for drinks all night.”
Myself and my husband arrived on 2/14/25 just before 11pm. We were wet from the rain, we ask how much the cover was and Anthony/Tony said $10. As my husband is reaching for his form of payment Anthony tells us he can't let us in because we are "too intoxicated". My husband did not hear him and asked to repeat. Anthony said again "you're too intoxicated to come in". I said "too intoxicated? Neither of us drink alcohol ". He then says "oh, you're not, then ok, you can come in". We opted to walk away and take our business elsewhere. The only reason he assumed there was some impairment was because my husband was wet from the rain and he had a hard time taking his card out of his wallet for about 5 seconds. I understand this employee has a job to prevent intoxicated patrons from entering but Anthony definitely needs to be retrained on how to do this properly. He even observed us as we stood outside prior to walking up and can't say we displayed any signs of being under the influence. We hope this feedback is welcomed and mgmt communicates with Anthony on how treat patrons.
The owner of the bar is a very disrespectful person. This is my perspective, it seems that you can’t reason with this person. If he sees something he does like about you he will kick you out. I guess there are plenty of other bars with similar vibes. The bouncer was very respectful, but not the owner. Difficult traits the owner has in the hospitality business. The service was good, but not the owner.
