Avis sur The Star Cafe Austin
Located on the second floor of the Texas history museum. Good, simple Cafe type food for a reasonable price. My loaded baked potato was $5.00, fresh and delicious. Although, there are bad reviews from several years ago, the place appears to have been recently redone and must be under new management.
Valuable price, fresh food, good atmosphere

The Frito pie was not bad at all. A little on the pricey side though. Went on a Saturday and most of the tables were dirty and not wiped.
This place is unbelievable! They have a wide assortment of drinks and food, and tonnns of space to sit. They have outdoor seating on a balcony overlooking skyscrapers! The food I recommend the beef tacos, I tried the other flavors and they just weren’t as good. They have this huge potato they give you with the potato orders. They have fresh salads you can get, and ice cream too and hot coffee. This place is great. It’s not SO expensive either like everywhere else in austin.
This is a great place for a quick and affordable lunch! Good options for kids. Indoor and outdoor seating. They close at 1pm
This cafe is operated by Delicious and still get a discount if you are a member of Bullock Texas State History Museum. It has been remodeled and with a new menu. I got a grilled cheese with fries. There is a lot of seating inside and on the balcony.
So glad the RK group is running the cafe again! Had the enchilada special today and it was great, and a bargain at $8. Even the refried beans were delicious. Menu is limited but over time they will be expanding the choices.
Surprisingly amazing for a museum cafe. Lots of options and wow, the prices are amazing compared to what else you'd find in downtown Austin. Great little hidden gem.

The restaurant interior was very clean and quiet. It’s very spacious; not many people in here during the Sunday’s lunch time. There was the grab-and-go counter and it also served the salad, sandwiches, burritos, chicken tenders, etc. It’s great to enjoy your time here. The kitchen closes at 3pm and the cafe closes at 4pm.
It is what it is: a museum cafeteria. I haven't been to a cafeteria that serves Gourmet meals yet. I had the Shepard Pie (which is only served on weekends).

This is a combination of a grab-and-go counter and a limited short-order line. It has a decent selection of fresh items and basic quick-prep foods like sliders, paninis, soups, and sandwiches. A solid stop for a quick lunch. Note: Café is on the second floor of the museum, accessible by stairs or elevators. It does NOT require museum admission to use the café.

Food was alright. Kids meals were, as always, overpriced and not enough. My husband and I got the special of the day, a taco salad with ground beef. It was good, reasonably priced, and it came with a drink. I don't recommend eating here, simply because Austin has so so many great places to eat on the cheap. If you want to take your kids to eat after exploring the museum, save a few bucks and go to a P Terry's.
Another change. Lots of good seating both inside and out. I think it is still a bit high priced. Staff is business like. Offer more salad choices, but no more breakfast tacos. Was once a lunch time hub for downtown office workers. Just too high prices for food.
We ate at the cafe on 7-9-19. Our food was fine and the atmosphere was fine, EXCEPT for the youngish woman working at the cashier. We came in and asked if the cafe was open and she said not for 15 minutes. Then later we asked (for future reference) about breakfast and she said it was over. Turns out we COULD have had breakfast when we arrived, which we would have liked, and that when she said the cafe was closed, that meant closed FOR LUNCH (even though all we'd said was "is the cafe open yet?). This youngish woman (she wears glasses) clearly hated us, and all human life in the museum and cafe (possibly excepting herself, possibly not). She was rude and just this short of hostile. The cafe would be a nice place if not for her. She nearly ruined our visit entirely.

Food was good and the prices were reasonable, but the guy at the register was rude and inconsiderate. Additionally his fingernails were full of filth.....disgusting. Granted everyone has a bad day once in a while, but if this is is normal MO he should be fired!

I walked over the cafe from my office on BJB. Being in the museum is nice and very interesting, but Stars cafe is absolutely NOT worth the hype. I spent $22 on clam chowder that came out of large plastic bag. $9.50 on fried fish sandwich that was frozen and unseasoned, chips and coke. Are you kidding me?? I wish I could get my money back as this was horrid and OVERLY priced!! There was one person on the register and one line cook. Do better!
If you work for the state and want a decent bite to eat, don’t go to the Star cafe. The food quality is really low, and the prices are very high. Save your money and go somewhere else.,
This place is the worst. For the ridiculous food prices, hot or other, you would think the customer service would at least be better in a place that sees people daily visiting because of the access to the museum. They don't acknowledge you right away, and if they do, when you have a question, it's answered with a very condescending tone. Like you shouldn't ask questions, just get what you get so I can move along the line, which by the way, the last two visits when I was in line, no one was behind me. I guess it's understood you're better off ordering outside the premises for reasonably priced food and service. Noted.
I waited over 1 hour for 3 sliders, fries, and a single chicken taco which had to be remade. There were only 2 cooks working and orders were going out in random order. You need to update the ticketing system. There were several people who waited less than 20 minutes for their food while a group of us waited over 45. The sliders were not good and the taco was cold. Terrible experience.
horrible. would never eat here again. over priced and disappointed. never mind the fact the chef was always grumpy and forgot to make a chicken sandwich, we asked for him to make another one, he looked at us in disgust rolled his eyes and proceeded to make it.
