Avis sur Doc Hollidays Avenue A
This bar makes me feel a lot of things. The atmosphere draws you in, and the crowd makes you feel right at home. Don’t get me wrong, the drinks are cheap and the staff are lovely, but the music situation can’t only be described with one word: Draconian. Most people think use the word “Draconian” as a hyperbole, but make no mistake, they would rather let you drink in silence than play a song for free as bars ought to do. $1 per song sounds good until you’ve been there for 8 hours and hundred of dollars have disappeared from your checking account. I give them five stars because I’ve had met ladies at this bar that make would make a less extraordinary man shiver in his boots, but if you’re looking for a bar whose music is curated by and for the patronage, you’ve found the wrong place.
Updating my reveiew here. Awesome dive bar. Sabrina the wise world traveler at the bar was amazing. Brian at the door was great. Makeda was great too. Rough. Great music. This type of bar is a dying breed in Manhattan.
This place is crazy! The country music on the jukebox was rocking, the beautiful women were dancing, and the drinks were strong and tasty! This place was nonstop fun! And the craziest part.....this was like at 6pm! We had just started our evening and found our way to Doc Hollidays. It was packed to the gills. I could swear it was already peak party time at 11pm at night. But no! It was barely 6! The only bummer was that they only take cash before 9pm I think it was. So bring plenty of bills if you want to drink early. The bartenders were very nice so don't you dare short them on tips! My brother, like an idiot, gave the bartender exact cash for the first round and she took her time getting back to us with our second drink. But after I started leaving a more generous tip we found ourselves back in her good graces. My apologies for my brother ma'am. Anyways, it was a great time and we will definitely visit next time we are in New York.
I’m so glad Doc Holliday’s survived covid. The bar looks like a hole in the wall kind of trippy place but the drinks are inexpensive, people are authentic and a fun place to stop by to play pool, pregame w friends and enjoying a night off in Alphabet City. Make sure to bring cash as it’s easier to pay for drinks that way.
Typical east village dive bar, in terms of vibe.
INTERESTING 🧐 interesting bar that’s for sure! Not exactly sure what to make of it. Lots of rules and lots of country but also a lot of graffiti! What’s going on! I like keeping things simple and straightforward and if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to mentally prepare for the chaos you’re about to feel here. But I THANK Doc Hollidays and will leave them be!
terrible service, the bartender was extremely rude, and many people I know got their phones stolen here the night I went. Would not recommend!
Said to the bartender "here is $35 for the pitcher of beer" and expected her to count it. In a split second she says in a nasty voice "35 is for the drink. We tip here" I gave her a tip and then she claimed I under paid for the drink even tho I know I counted right and she made me pay more. Mind you I was totally sober and buying this for a friend cause I don't drink. She should be fired
The miserable female bartender with dirty blonde curly hair haggling us over tips mid drink was ridiculous. We ordered drinks I paid and let her know we were planning on !!ordering more drinks!! right after. 2 sips into our drinks she comes and lets us know with a aggressive attitude that we hadn’t tipped. I am a waiter and my friend is a bartender in NYC, and I explained to her I don’t expect people to tip mid meal and my friend doesn’t expect people to tip mid drink (especially because we were ordering more, if we order three rounds are we tipping her 3 times??). REGARDLESS WE STILL TIPPED HER! The bartender still caught in an attitude and starting making snarky comments after we tipped her like “Have you ever been to a bar before?” She seems miserable and quite frankly not very good at the job. I understand what kind of bar Docs is, and I’ve been many times. It’s gritty, rough, bartenders have an edge, but this one is flat out a miserable pan handler. Not much separating her from the homeless woman outside begging for change😂
My friend lives down the block from this bar and last night ( Monday, April 28th, around 11:00-11:30 pm ) she stumbled into this bar. we were both drinking already & I was ready to call it a night, knowing she was going to stay with people she had met and buy drinks. My bf came to pick me up and asked the bartender if I could have a water. The bartender who was a woman, Caucasian, brown hair ( sadly didn’t get her name ) was extremely rude & said “ this is a bar not a water fountain”. Disgusting. ( again it’s a Monday night so the bar was practically empty, she was not busy). Will never come to this bar again. There are PLENTY of bars in the area. I’m 30 & never In my life have I ever had a bartender refuse to give just water ? It’s free in NY. If I was the owner of the bar I would prob let this bartender go. Do you know how many great bartenders there are in NY? Or just around the area? That’s what keeps customers loyal. Shitty ones like her are what gives a place bad reviews. She’s bad for business.
