This place absolutely lives up to the hype! The restaurant is small and cute, with a European feel and the menu is a treat with each item sounding delicious. We ordered a pizza, the catch of the day and dessert and were very pleased with the entire experience.
This was a great spot. Everything was so lovely and the service was spot on. The food looked and tasted immaculately. I really enjoyed the portion size too for the price. Very much recommend getting a reservation and spending your evening or morning here!
Amazing food spot right by the beach! We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to let us in with a short wait. Parking was available right outside the restaurant around 6 pm. Vibe inside was great, and food was excellent!! We tried the popular dishes - gnocchi, lasagna, and mushroom pizza - and they didn’t disappoint. The gnocchi was our favorite, so much flavor! Highly recommend ordering this dish if you’re here.
The only must both my wife and I have is if we're in Carmel by the Sea, and that's coming to this restaurant. Food is incredible, vibe is chill but a little energetic. Fantastic selections of both beer and wine. The hardest part is deciding what to get in the best kind of way.
Great food and great service! We ordered steak, pasta, and pizza — everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. You can really tell they care about quality and customer experience. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!
Finally got the opportunity to walk-in to the Michelin star restaurant located at Carmel by the sea. Ordered the Gnocchi parisien and the champignons pizza with the side of spiced oil. The gnocchi was pillowy soft, doused in a bed of creamy and cheesy sauce. The wood oven fired pizza was cooked to perfection with the mushroom topping. Overall great experience and will come again.
Gnocchi was delicious ! Had the Halibut, pistachio lasagna, canneloni, and some desserts. Everything waa spot on, service waa impeccable.
Definitely worth the hype. The food was amazing. The service was super fast and friendly. Reservations are a must. You should try the gnocchi and the skewers.
This place is no secret - but the recognition and kudos are beyond warranted. Wow! The atmosphere is quaint and charming but also high end. You feel like you are in Europe. The service was top tier (shout out to Nicole and to the somms) who went above and beyond to ensure a perfect service for us. The food was 10/10. Don’t sleep on the curried fish or the gnocchi. Can’t recommend enough for a romantic dinner in Carmel.
Laura made our meal that much more wonderful with her warmth, benevolence, and kindness - she made it feel like we were having lunch at a friend’s house. Thank you, Laura! You deserve a promotion!! This is our second trip to this absolutely fabulous French restaurant in Carmel. We ordered the mushrooms, the soup of the day (potato, bacon, leek), the streak frites, the basque pizza, and the creme brûlée. Everything was absolutely flawless and so yummy. You also have to order the famous gnocchi. Some highlights below: The mushrooms: woodfired and swimming in a garlic herb butter with bread to soak it up. The basque pizza: don’t sleep on this - definitely add their homemade chili oil. It is too good. The steak frites: a delicious w poivre sauce that was not too rich. This is just great cooking. Served with spinach and French fries. The soup: ordered two to go because it was that good. Normally, potato bacon leek soup is way too heavy with too much cream. With was a flavor packed broth yet was so light. I could drink a gallon of it. Creme brûlée: the creme was ricotta based, a delicious unique touch I really enjoyed. This is our Favorite place in Carmel - if you’re here for the first time you MUST try. Also, for anyone who cares, Taylor swift has dined here before 😂
Delicious bistro fare! Slow service but the quality of food made up for it. The mushroom pizza was the highlight. Margherita pizza was very flavorful too. Spinach gnocchi was pillow soft. The pinot noir paired well with the rich gnocchi. We called in the morning to make reservations for lunch. No wait time for the table.
The food is good and the atmosphere is great. We took the Parisian Gnocchi and Risotto Gamberi. The Gnocchi was excellent and highly recommended. The Risotto is so and so. It is actually a Spanish Paella and not a risotto. So if you like Paella you will like it but it is less of our favorites.
This French and Italian restaurant was recommended to us and it truly lived up to the praise. We learned about how Parisians prepare their gnocchi in a different and very special way, and it was such a fun detail to discover while dining. The vibe and decor were amazing and created an atmosphere that felt both elegant and cozy at the same time. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, which made the entire experience feel even more welcoming. The chef was wonderful and took the time to share stories about his travels through Italy, which added a personal touch that you do not get everywhere. The pizza that my friends ordered was incredible with a crust that was light, flavorful, and perfectly baked. Another friend ordered the lasagna and it was unique in the best way with layers that were rich and comforting. The salad was refreshing and balanced out the meal beautifully. I highly recommend this lovely place for anyone who appreciates thoughtful food, warm service, and a memorable dining experience.
La Bicyclette is the kind of place that instantly transports you to another country the moment you walk in—and it’s clearly designed to do exactly that. Every dish we tried was incredible, but the gnocchi absolutely stole the show. It’s been a month since our visit, and I still can’t stop thinking about that meal. The pizza was delicious, and the affogato truly transported us straight to Florence. A must-visit!
Had an amazing experience! Went up as a walk in and staff were friendly and welcoming. Went to celebrate my birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience. What really struck me was the sommelier Joseph who was so kind and helpful. Very knowledgeable and friendly as well. Service and food were 10/10!
Our expectations were beyond exceeded with this restaurant. Of all the places we ate in the area, this was by far the best! The peach salad was refreshing and contained all the components of a great salad - crunch, a hint of sweetness to balance the arugula, and lots of decadent toppings! We also enjoyed the pizza, which was simple but SO delicious, the gnocchi which was amazing as well, and the apple pie dessert. Our server Desiree was so informative and kind and never rushed us! She made suggestions that enhanced our experience and absolutely upsold us (which we were grateful for because the mushrooms were to die for and that was her rec!). It was my birthday and she made it special with a candle and just being an amazing server. We don’t live local but dream of coming back, and are already planning our next trip around La Bicyclettes availability!
There was quite a bit of wait for dinner. But we literally forgot about the wait once we had the food. The pizza here is a must-try and unbelievably delicious; the wood-fired dough is just perfect. The soup is amazing—light, creamy and has a beautiful mouthfeel. The salad portion size was surprisingly filling. The space was so charming and inviting; it felt like a little extended getaway from the city. And the servers were accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. We really had a fabulous time at La Bicyclette!
We got in. Don’t know how without the reservation but we did. 5 top. Lunch late. Laura was our favorite waitress on this trip. She was helpful and very friendly with our kids. We got lots of stuff. It was all excellent. Met the chef. He was very nice. Pizza Gnocchi Drinks Beet salad Pasta Ice cream Well done! Ps. Laura, that was my little 2 year old that grabbed your dress!
Tried to get dinner reservation but the earliest is around August but lunch was available the next day so we took it. I had the lunch special which is the Mezzo Guscio Nero that reminds me of our squid dish but it is a pasta with black sauce. It was tasty but eating the large portion was a tad salty. We also had pizza and steak and fries which are all good. The dessert we had was the least favorite. Overall, we enjoy our time and would visit again.
The place is small but so pretty, I went there for breakfast/lunch so it wasn’t crowded. The only thing I would’ve liked is if they had a few more options on the breakfast (maybe more sandwiches or salads). My boyfriend doesn’t like eggs so it was kind of hard for him to choose something and the options were limited. Overall the food was good and would like to try it out for dinner time and check their other food options.
We found this via Google Maps. Came with high expectations cause of high reviews. The restaurant was beautifully decorated in vintage style. The staff were fast, but they were difficult to get attention. Many times we waved at them but they continued chatting with each other. The food was okay, but they were really overpriced food. I could have the same quality in a less popular town with cheaper prices. I guess this is what you get for a tourist attraction town.
I love Carmel and la bicyclette is worth it for the vibes alone. The restraunt is cozy European like. I had the lobster rigatoni, miso black cod and chocolate mouse. The cod came with roasted potatoes and sauteed beech mushrooms. The food was delicious albeit the portions were a little small. Will definitely go back there the next time I am in Carmel.
We thought this was a Michelin-starred restaurant (as the sign at the entrance stated), but when we arrived for breakfast, we realized the glasses didn't smell very good. We saw the hostess wiping the glasses with a rag that wasn't exactly fresh. We decided to Google why the restaurant got a star, but it turns out it didn't. That sign at the entrance is just there to attract attention. I've long since gotten used to this kind of scam and deception, an advertising gimmick
