Not sure why the reviews aren't 5 stars because this place is Great!! Food is delicious and authentic. Great service as well. There chili oil is amazing. Bought some for the house
Ratatouille Back to Hong Kong Memory of Neighborhood Dim Sum! My husband is from Hong Kong and we just returned from visiting his family. We missed every morning ritual Dim Sum breakfast. We bumped into this HK Dim Sum and wanted to try as other places have 30-45 mins waiting list. Surprisingly, this small restaurant is pretty good! We highly recommend these authentic dishes: rice with ribs and chicken feet, #5 spinach shrimp dumplings, taro puff, shrimp Shu Mai, BBQ buns, eggplant with shrimp, shrimp wonton soup.
Great surprise here, definitely recommend a visit for some real and authentic dimsum. Large portions made fresh, shrimp dimsum are plump and is absolutely delicious!!! I only tried a few dishes here but everything was fresh and tasty. Great service, clean restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. Well laid out menu. Fast service.
We tried this little gem after seeing it on Eat Like a Local. Nice variety of dim sum but not so much that you are overwhelmed. We ordered 6 different dishes and they were all fresh and tasty. Will definitely be returning.
Looking for a great little Dim Sum spot? Try HK.! It's budget friendly, made to order, fresh, great portion sizes, and just plain delicious. At other spots around town, we'd walk about $100 a person or more for dim sum. Here, $20 a person and you're stuffed! Found a new favorite to try at other spots. 42, 43, or 49. Two of these 3 we ordered. One had a super crispy and flaky crust with a shrimp center. It was just delicious! The other was super soft rolled and stuffed with all sorts of goodies. Meat, mushrooms, etc. I believe it was a bean paste roll. I'll get this every time now. This is one that won't disappoint. They were attentive, not one negative item to point out here. There's plenty of parking here, also a number of parking garages. During prime time hours, it can get a little packed. We already have plans to go back for more this weekend. Until next time.
Wanted to have some Chinese food in Chinatown, including dim sum items, and decided eat here. Got Beef Chow Fun, Shrimp Fried Rice, and several dumplings dishes. Food was tasty but not the best of this kind of food that we've had. Service was fast and friendly. It was a feeling of really being in Chinatown, but at a peak time with all tables filled it is not the biggest space. All in all we were satisfied.
I have only had dim sum at five restaurants in or around Houston but I can easily say that the dim sum at HK is the best that I have enjoyed in H-town. A wide variety of dim sum dishes, other appetizers and some of the Chinese main dishes are promoted to you on a picture filled menu. Also there is a full menu of Chinese main dishes from which to choose. Your final choices must then be noted on a separate order slip on which you also have the option for choosing a small or large serving for many of the dishes. My companion and I ordered separate dishes of 4 dim sum containing crab and mince pork fillings. We also got one main dish of Singapore noodles, an appetizer of fried egg rolls and a appetizer of barbecue pork. We shared and thoroughly enjoyed each and every dish. Of course this was way too much food for two people and we were able to enjoy another full meal with the leftovers that we took away. The egg rolls were exquisite with a light crunchy coating that was perfectly fried around a moist and flavorful egg roll filling. The Singapore noodles were well prepared with what appeared to be a zestful dose of saffron to compliment the slices of pork and pieces of squid that were included. The dim sum was moist with an excellent texture which allowed a brief interlude of chewing to enable the wonderful flavors of the fillings to escape and enchant your palate before being delicately swallowed to satisfy your hunger. The restaurant always seems to have a good number of customers in its relatively small space. This slows down the service time a bit from other Chinese restaurants that serve just okay food but have you in and out the door in 15 minutes. However, the decor is pleasant and offers a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the green tea (by far the best green tea that I have had in the last year) I think my next trip to HK will be during off peak hours for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack of a pot of green tea and a plate of 4 dim sum. This can be done for under $10 and will be much more enjoyable than a latte and muffin at Starbucks which will cost you the same.
The food is pretty good, especially for the price and location. Their ha gao shrimp dumplings were my favorite! The restaurant was fairly clean and homely. The menu is a bit overwhelming if you’re not good at Chinese/Viet, but I found the dishes I was looking for, for the most part. The staff can be aggressive with payment and tips, though.
It was okay. I feel like it’s a hit or miss because last time we came it was a lot better than today. Everything was very dry and not flavorful. The pork buns were way too sweet The texture of the cheung fun was sticky and soggy which was kind of gross. :(
A YumCha place in Houston Chinatown area. Most yum-cha dim sims are average and look like made in the premise. Service was average, I asked for sauce dishes and the waitress looked very troubled and annoyed?!?! Overall, the food was okay if you don't have high expectation, and prices were a bit hight for the quality you get, but this seemed like to be the new norm everywhere in US bow , expensive but average!!?!?!
I really wanted to like this place and give it five stars however the food is just OK. I love the idea of having dim sum anytime of the day except I found the flavors not as robust as you would expect. Also the dumplings were hot but the Chinese broccoli was cold. The cleanliness of the place needs a little bit of attention it’s not dirty but it doesn’t feel clean. The establishment of chairs tables painting all needs to be updated. I get the feeling that those that run the business Have neglected the desire to stay relevant
Checked out this place today with my family because of a day tripper episode! We're happy that we checked out this nice establishment, but more than likely we wouldn't return. Not because anything was wrong, but we learned our palates are not used to authentic Chinese food. I recommend if you enjoy the real thing, not just panda express! Very nice people, excellent service.
2 star is for the service; but for the food, I give 1 star. The food is not authentic; quality is not good. We ordered 8 items so far, none of them worth trying. The steamed buns in Shanghai style had chives in there, I've never eaten Shanghai style buns with chives! And the main thing is the buns didn't taste good at all. The rice noodles (cheung fun) were very sticky, not sure if they were cooked. The dipping sauce for the rice noodles was so little, about 2 teaspoons. Some of the dishes were extremely salty. We will not revisit anytime soon. The food quality went down.
Do not come here. I'm walking out. They charged me a credit card fee. Food is NOT recommended. They don't understand proper English to be accusing anyone of giving out wrong amount desired. The lady said I can change the quantity then gets mad when I do. She threw the receipt at me. I'm not setting foot in here.
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT WITH THEM! BEWARE IF YOU'RE PAYING CASH!!!! They give a 5% discount if you pay your food order in cash so I paid cash to avoid the credit card fee. I don't usually check my receipt in detail and I discovered they CHARGED ME A CREDIT CARD FEE when I paid cash. I told them about this and they tried to act like they didn't charge me. They gave no apology or admit fault. It clearly shows in the receipt they added it. I asked for a refund because I was too afraid they were going to spit on my to-go order when I complained about the credit card fee charge. They wouldn't give back my receipt so I can post it as proof -- So, check your receipt that they don't charge you a credit card fee when you paid cash. God knows how many people they've cheated who pay cash and don't look at their receipt.
Me and my mom are big when it comes to dim sum we walked around the chinatown area and came to this place thinking we’d get what we were looking for. But sadly it didn’t happen, they had poor customer service, even threw the menu on the table. Got to the end to pay still leaving a measly tip for people that were unprofessional. They over charged my card 20$ because it wasn’t enough! This place is horrible. Please avoid it at any cost.
