Avis sur Assaje Bergamo
After reading positive reviews, we decided to try Assaje for ourselves. Their Neapolitan-style pizza was very tasty. Delicious, with good ingredients and a generous size. I wanted to order one pizza for two people, but when I was ordering, the waitress suggested with her demeanor/head movement that this was "not welcome." It wasn't an offensive suggestion, but she prolonged the order with silence. This was my first trip to Italy, and I thought maybe that was the norm in a restaurant. Then I saw at other tables that they usually ordered half a pizza. So, I advise you to be more assertive than I did. I wanted to try the desserts, but I had no room left in my stomach. Overall, I highly recommend eating there. The price of the "table"/coperto, includes balls of pizza dough and a glass of prosecco. After the pizza, we received delicious cookies, sfogliatelle.
Right from the start I was greeted by genuinely nice staff - the lady at the entrance, the waiters, and this bald guy who seemed like the manager/owner/boss of the place. I did get a pretty average table right by the entrance (even after asking if there was anything else available), but whatever - totally survivable. They immediately brought me these little dough balls on the house, and honestly, that was a great move. Simple, warm, and a really nice starter while you’re settling in. For the main, I ordered the pizza from the photo: burrata, pork, and I asked them to add tomato sauce because it’s originally bianca. Absolutely phenomenal. Like, perfect in every way. The dough, the balance, the flavors - everything just worked. It was so loaded that I couldn’t finish the whole thing and had to take part of it to-go, but it was genuinely delicious. Right next to the pizza they placed my first “alcohol moment” - I think it was limoncello. Tasty, no complaints. After I finished, they brought a free dessert plus an orange liqueur. And I’ll be honest here - the dessert was weak. It tasted like it had been sitting around for a couple of days and went kind of hard. Not my thing at all. The liqueur was nice, but I was so full at that point that I couldn’t really drink it, especially with how sweet it was. Still, the fact that the starter, the limoncello, and the dessert + liqueur were all free is a really nice gesture from the restaurant. Respect for that. Overall: I strongly recommend this place.
Wow. Just a few feet from the old city you find this amazing place. Not only is the service incredible, but the food strikes the rare balance of being both delicious and generous. Pair that with free prosecco and dough balls before the meal, and free digestive and pastries after, and I was completely overwhelmed with the combination of friendliness, generosity, quality, quantity and affordability. I probably should not write this review so the place remains somewhat secret, but it made my heart sing! Update: I am back in Bergamo a year later and had to return to try a different pizza. I can report that it is equally excellent to the first time.
So, this place…it was a great positive surprise! When we came the atmosphere was great, the service even better and the surprises kept coming. When we ordered our food they gave us complementary prossecco to try (which was very delicious) and some kind of fritters (very soft inside and crisp outside). The pizzas were like a dream (mine was pistachio and mortadela and my boyfriends classic ham, cheese and mushrooms). After we ordered the desserts: pistachio tiramisu and the classic one - that was so good! And we got some little crispy sweets with vanilla and limoncello to try. Get a reservation in advance because they can be pretty full. Big big recommendations for this place!
So the 5 stars are if you sit on the nicer tables, because some inside the bunker were not that great. Also, they give some compliments for free, like the fried dough balls at the beginning and something at the end as dessert, but they were not so great. Of course, pizza is their main thing, and it was amazing. Service was also good, as were prices.
The service in this restaurant was outstanding! We have received free starters, wine sample and even a dessert with liquer after our main course. The pizza despite little longer waiting time was amazing, for very reasonable price. The raustarant is nicely located, kinda hidden, which added to the great atmosphere.
haven’t felt this good in a restaurant in a long time! The staff was absolutely lovely — we were welcomed with complimentary treats like mini waffles, a small cup of prosecco, and delicious savory pastry balls (which, by the way, we ended up buying to go). The pizza was fantastic, and the waitress gave us some great recommendations :) To top it all off, we were treated to mini sweet shortbread cookies — so tasty! But the real star of the lunch was the (probably homemade) liqueur — pistachio and melon flavors — absolutely divine! I had to buy some to take home :) Highly recommend — 11/10!
We arrived with no reservation on a busy easter sunday and of course there were no places, we decided to wait and i am glad we did! The pizzas and service were excellent and prices very fair. In addition some unexpected complimentary drinks, nibbles and cookies were offered which in themselves were tasty and local.
This was to be honest our best pizza during our three month stay in northern Italy. Nothing fancy, just plain normal, good pizza and a very reasonable price. We tried their pistachio tiramisu which was simply 5/5 amazing. Overall, great place, would definetely recommend and go again! Must visit! Extremely friendly staff!
Amazing restaurant just outside of the western gate of the old town of Bergamo. I was so surprised by the amazing Hospitality at the restaurant, the waiters were so friendly, they gave me multiple free things like prosecco and cheese bread before dinner, and an entire bottle of limoncello afterwards. The food was outstanding, the Pizza won the award for best Neapolitan pizza in town, and I understand why. I must also highly recommend the pistachio tiramisu, it's one of the best desserts I have ever had. The experience was nothing else but spectacular, I will definitely return if I'm ever in Bergamo again.
An amazing place to eat delicious food in a wonderful setting with friendly staff and excellent service. Great variety of food and tastes, you'd like to try everything and all we ordered was delicious. And for the final- the desserts - outstanding! It's impossible to choose only one of them. The staff is smiling, kind and helpful. You won't regret sitting there.I'd gladly go back there if I'm in Bergamo again.
After eating pizza a thousand times in Italy...I have to admit that this time I am surprised. The BEST pizza I have ever eaten. Tasty, balanced, with a great dough...and all accompanied by a very friendly and pleasant service...and a fantastic terrace. Run away from the tourist traps...a wonderful choice!!! In fact, I had not yet paid and I had already organized with my children a future visit so that they could also try the pizzas.... In other words, a marvel...and very cheap!!!!
ONE OF THE BEST PIZZA IN MY LIFE!!! Very tasty, delicious, freshly made… We came at 18:45 and they are opening at 19h. We get served with Prosecco for free to try and we got some fried dough for free. We ordered diavola and margarita, and pizza was so big, one normal person can’t eat alone. After super good pizza we were served with something sweet and liquor with lemon and pistachio. That was also free and we were full. Most amazing experience and you can skip anyother pizzeria in old town and come here. If you can made reservation because they are full. We didn’t have reservation but they are super polite and friendly they served us. Big plus and thank you for you service 😊❤️
Fantastic! Friendly and attentive staff. Probably one of the best pizzas I’ve had. Great choice for coeliac sufferers. Highly recommend.

Terrific pizza, friendly staff, good service, complimentary after dinner drinks and dessert, highly recommended. Would easily come back when in Bergamo.
Upon arrival, we were served prosecco and a type of deep-fried pastry. The food was very good, but the downside was the acoustics. Unfortunately, we didn't get a table outside and were seated at th…
Today we ordered two pizzas, wine, and tiramisu for dessert. The pizzas were excellent, but the same cannot be said for the service. A woman with long hair and glasses served the food without a word. This already seemed very strange, and we first encountered it in Bergamo. However, it wasn't until later that we felt severely discriminated against, perhaps because we were the only foreigners present. After the main course, dessert with liqueur was brought to all the tables, except ours. Meanwhile, the waiter cleared our plates and took our dessert order. The woman mentioned above didn't even bother to say goodbye to us upon payment! The overall impression is poor due to the terrible service. I definitely won't recommend this place and won't be returning.
