Avis sur Café Leila Berkeley
It's a low key vibe, with indoor tables and a lovely patio, with plants and fountains, nooks and umbrellas. I haven't tried the food, but the coffee was delicious, and the staff was sweet - smiling and friendly. It's a bit out of my way, but I like to suggest it to friends to meet there. It's just nice, a little oasis. Also, there's music some evenings indoors. Gotta check their website.
The food is exceptional but the outdoor space is the reason to go. The area is airy but the tables feel intimate. A good place to take a business associate or your mother!
Wonderful place for brunch, outdoor seating is lovely on a pleasant day. The portion sizes were quite large and the food was excellent. The coffee is great too!
Absolutely amazing food, staff, ambience, would come back here in a heart beat. We got eggs, bacon omelette and chai - the food was fantastic, the staff was so friendly and lovely and we sat outside in the garden area over brunch! Can’t wait to come again!
I love it here. The variety of food options never disappoints and while I usually get the same few things, I'm never unhappy with my choice. In addition to my meal to eat there, I get the steak and hash breakfast which I promptly separate into 4 meals for my partner and I for breakfast. Yes, the portion is very generous...good fir the budget and the belly.
I've only been to Cafe Layla for brunch, which thankfully is an area they excel in. The large back patio is delightful for alfresco dining, though there is plenty of indoor seating for the sun averse or during inclement weather. Their espresso drinks are competent if unremarkable. (Though they do offer a number of interesting lattes and teas that I have not sampled.) The food is tasty and well prepared and comes in quantities large enough to satisfy most people's appetites for a meal that squishes breakfast and lunch together into one. The parking lot is usually full on weekend mornings, so plan ahead for finding street parking. There is usually a line but it moves relatively quickly.
As good as it gets for an early morning - midday cafe. Amazing selection of teas combined with excellent coffee, pastries and many healthy food items. Indoor seating and gorgeous outdoor seating with beautiful plants.
Café Leila...what a great little place! I had just finished helping my pal Grumley Pushinpacker set up a Speedway Triptrometor on the front of his building, so he could better tabulate the comings and goings of the block...and it just so happens I parked right there next to Café Leila! What luck! Just a couple of eggs, and some muffins got me kickstarted for the day ahead, and now I'm ready for anything...thanks to Café Leila. 5 stars without even trying ☆☆☆☆☆
From the Outside I would not had expected what inside held. It was very cute chic outdoor patio filled with plants, fountains, unique artifacts that decorated the area. From a vintage stove top, to a glass window. It was unique and it seemed popular with the locals. No table service, they do have you take your drinks yourself and if you need any condiments I heard the server say " its self service to a lady" , but they do bring you your food out. A lot of selections , and interesting drink choices. The ambiance is chill and chic and perfect for brunch. They are only opened until 3p and parking is rough.
Cafe Leila is a gem! Fantastic service, really great atmosphere with a gorgeous and huge back patio... Plus all of the food was tasty. I had the Greek omelette, which was very flavorful and a good portion. We also both had the ginger tea, which was a highlight of our breakfast. I will definitely return! Bonus points for the free parking lot, which was extra clutch being located right off of San Pablo.
Came here for lunch on a Thursday to meet up with a dear friend. We sat outside on the patio and there was plenty of seating. The food was delicious (I ordered the fish tacos and my friend ordered the grilled zucchini sandwich). We also ordered hot tea and they each came with their own little kettle. We were able to stay and chat a while after finishing our food, and it was a lovely setting for catching up.
What a lovely cafe! It was my first time here and my boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted by friendly faces and live music which they said is just on weekends. When you arrive you order at the front and then they bring your food to your table, so there are no servers who take your order at the table. There was lots of outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. The chai latte was the MOST authentic chai I have ever had at a cafe, the spice was strong and such a delicious experience. I am vegetarian and I ordered the Leila Vegetable Wrap and as the complimentary side I got country potatoes. As I mentioned earlier this was my first time here so I don’t know where they keep the salt and pepper shakers because there were none of the table and the potatoes were definitely in need of some but this was something minor. The potatoes were still delicious and had fresh rosemary. The wrap was yummy but there were lots of the peppers and was a bit overpowering, but if you love feta cheese and that type of Mediterranean food then this dish is perfect (I’m not the biggest fan on feta). I will definitely come back to try their other vegetarian dishes, I was happy to see the various veggie options they had. My boyfriend got the Leila Burger with fries and he is still raving over the fries! They were unique and probably the crunchiest most delicious fries we have had. He also enjoyed the burger. We will be back!
Great cafe with delicious food: steak salaby (had babaganous, dolmades and hummus along with steak, onions and salad) & chicken club. Had enough leftovers for another meal. Loved the rugelach made by Ukrainian refugees, the super healer smoothie veith blueberry and the blueberry roiboos tea. They had indoor and outdoor seating plus a small parking lot. Will return.
First of all… No matter what you order here the backyard is ridiculously gorgeous. And the inside windows that face the backyard or Florida ceiling. There’s beautiful original art throughout the café. It is a very fun place to go. This morning, I ordered a very specific meal… Egg white veggie scramble. Attached photo. I’m not saying anybody else besides me who is such a boring meal… But they did amazing job with my specifications. It was absolutely delicious and abundant vegetables. I’ve had other things here and everything has tasted wonderful and they are very accommodating to your particular food needs.
First time here with a GF and had a great experience! I pulled into their parking lot at noon on a Wednesday, and it was full, however, the owner was so nice. He was sitting in his van and said to park right in front of his van. What a great start! While standing in line waiting for our order to be taken, we were looking at menu along with the bountiful amount of teas and drinks! I was overwhelmed with giddiness. I ordered the veggie scramble with a side of turkey bacon, the peach smoothie, and the lavender lemonade! As we walked through the interior dining room, the outside tables were calling us! There were plenty of available tables with some in the shade and sun. However, it quickly filled up just after we ordered. The space has a very casual, laid-back atmosphere, where you get your own water and utensils before finding your table, and you feel like you're eating in someone's backyard. The overall vibe was just great, and the food & drinks were truly delicious! What a wonderful find and gem. I'll definitely be back!!
I had the eggplant sandwich 🤤 I really love it. It’s hard to try other things on the menus since this is so good! And the salad portion is massive which I’m very grateful for. I’m having a hard time finishing the salad since the portion is pretty big but you gotta have your greens 🥬 so I’m about to do it 😉 I’m sure the rest of the menu is epic. Good vibe! Nice garden with pants and fountains. Good place to hang out.
Overall, it was an average experience—some dishes stood out while others were just okay. The good: Veggie tyab – packed with flavor; perfectly seasoned veggies, fresh dips, and soft lavash bread. Body healer latte – unique mix of ingredients, but they balanced the flavors well. Appreciate the variety of lattes on the menu! The okayish: Regular latte – coffee tasted almost burnt. Pancakes – not as soft, flavorful, or well-presented as I’ve had elsewhere. That said, I’d come back to try more of their offerings. Plus, the outdoor seating is beautiful and dog-friendly, which I loved.
My food had a hair in it right off the bat the indian lady who brought it didnt even care to remove it and it was so obvious right on top of the food and you could see it on the white plate. The flour tortillas seemed to be covered in lint from clothing and The coffee tastes like sock water and the food is not very good. Overpriced for what you get. The guy who took our order was very nice but the actual server did not care to provide a proper service, insane that we have to leave a tip before we even know how the service will be. I recommend getting breakfast at crepevine as its a a much more pleasant experience and the food is tastier for a better price.
What are they charging such ridiculous prices for, considering the quality of food, the service, the WiFi? Every person sitting down with their food was commenting about the price! The food was meh at best. The latte was served tepid. There were flies hovering on the “health nut cookie”, and I imagine the rest of the pastry shelf. I brought this to the Melissa’s (the cashier/server) attention and she ignored it. The Wi-Fi was spotty and only available in the noisy area in the front with the music blaring. The tables were decorated with used dishes and utensils and the busboys and Melissa were happily ignoring it. There was no clarity on whether this is a self-serve restaurant (for the $$$$, one would expect not!) but some orders were brought to the table, some not. No checking in on how the food was. No attention in case you needed anything. Sure, the backyard is cute and you could bring your dog there but honestly, there are SO many better places you could spend your time and money at than Cafe Leila. Hard pass.
The atmosphere is beautiful , but it’s not worth the experience I received. The food is over priced, I was also over charged for something. I paid over $50 for two food items and a blueberry matcha latte and it tasted super artificial. Personally wouldn’t come again , but that’s just my opinion.
