ton katsu rice bowl: amazing!!! spam rice bowl: not good. kimchi fried rice: pretty good beef kimbap: good japchae: not good, too oily and soggy beef bulgogi: good pork belly: good dumplings/potstickers: good! corndogs: decent croffles: not really that good mochinuts: very yummy drinks: all very yummy, my favorites are ube and horchata
So far, this is my go to for quick homey Korean cooking. Love the fried chicken but it’s a bit expensive sadly so won’t get that too often. The Korean rice cake (TTEOKBOKKI) is also a bit pricey. Bibimbap I think is a great value and is solid quality. This I think should be my go to. Soups are good as well. Omelettes look pretty good. It’s all self serve. Order at one of the 4 kiosks in the front. Food comes out of a window that you pick up. Pick up silverware, water, and sauces by yourself. At the end of the meal, you return everything yourself.
Tteokbokki is amazing! The consistency at Kimchi Garden is thicker and richer than at other places - it is fairly spicy and it reminds me of the tteokbokki in Korea. The kimchi fried rice is good but nothing special. Overall good spot for nostalgic Korean street food.
Kimchi Garden was so good! The portions were very filling and the price in comparison to other places was affordable (less than $20). The order station was also very convenient & they had the food ready in a timely manner. Definitely going again when I go to Berkeley again!
Super delicious Korean food. Strongly recommend their kimchi cheese fried rice(add the cheese! it’s so worth it) and their kimchi tofu soup The soup on the spicier side so keep it in mind! Be ready for a food coma
The kimchi stew is so good but also pretty spicy. Love that everything can be ordered through kiosk and when your order is ready they will announce it on the speaker. Free WiFi as well. The only downside is there’s no bathroom.
Kimchi Garden was a great experience. Zero contact.. order at kiosk..choose dine in or take out..enjoy. We shared the Kimchi fried rice and beef Kimbap (Gimbap). Both menu items were delicious and flavorful. Great atmosphere. Very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the Kpop music the was playing in the dining area..it was the cherry on top and completed our dining experience. Kimchi Garden is one of our new MUST stops when in the Bay Area.

I ordered a beef soondubu with rice and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors of the soup complimented the meat and veggies super well. It also came with a side dish of fried tofu skin. Everything is self-serve, you order on a tablet, pick up your own food, and bus your own dishes which is every introverts dream! It was also pretty quiet when I went on a weekday lunch. Very reasonable prices as well. Would recommend again if I’m back in the area.
very tasty hot dogs that cost $4-5, you can also sprinkle hot dogs with sugar, a lot of different sauces. convenient menu on the tablet, you choose the place where you want to sit. When your order is ready, your number will be announced over the microphone. the sea food pancake was a bit undercooked I think because they are very busy and the rot try to cook everything quickly. also the kimchi was not heavily fermented.
Good Korean food. The japchae was a bit overcooked. I was surprised to see pao-de-queijo on the menu (perhaps they have a Brazilian in the kitchen?).
Beef stew with dumplings is very very good. Order on the iPad and they’ll call your number when the food is ready. The soup came out very hot and she gave me a salt shaker to salt as I wanted. Nice place to enjoy Korean cooking.
Easy ordering through kiosk. Food was good for the price. Forgot to ask them to make the pork belly crispy. Tofu stew is good for 2-3 people.
Suspicious smell but great desserts.
Reasonably priced. Not even close to the best bibimbap I’ve had but they are pretty generous with the meat and vegetables and don’t have a bowl that is 3/4 rice unlike many bibimbaps. There was not the rice crust on the bottom which was disappointing but overall not bad for the price.

Great if you’re feeling introverted. Decent food. But they don’t provide takeout bags without cash, which is a frustrating experience when you spend 35$ and leave a tip. I would come again, just wouldn’t tip next time (you do all your own ordering & bussing anyways)
Looking for a go-to late-night munchies spot in Berkeley? Kimchi Garden is the perfect place! Open late into the night, it's a popular hangout for students craving Korean comfort food and sweet treats. Our group ordered the Bibimbap and shared a refreshing Mango Bing Su for dessert—perfect for family-style dining! Even during peak hours (7–9 PM), the food came out pretty quickly, and everything hit the spot. Whether you're pulling an all-nighter or just need a post-dinner snack, Kimchi Garden is a solid choice!
Ordered tofu protein soup that came along with side white rice. It was comforting to eat hot soup as I was sick and couldn't cook myself.

The worst three stars I ever gave. The best 3 stars I ever gave. The blandest meal I ever had. Not sure how I feel righr now. I might have preferred homemade rice and butter with salt, and a glass of ice water. I mighr have cooked an egg and put kimchi on top. And, I would have been happier. So, I think this was the least amount of effort Ive ever seen in a meal. But it was fine? Sorry cant give you a 4 or 5. Im so perplexed.

I haven’t been here in quite a while since I studied at Berkeley, but the quality and taste is considerably worse. I think there was a change in ownership, and the food is not authentic at all anymore. Wings are bland and not crispy. Scallion pancake is soggy and tasteless. The only thing that was decent was the Gimbap. Sad to see what was once a bustling Korean restaurant back during my college days become soulless. We spent almost $60…terrible deal.
The first time I ordered from here the tteokbokki it tasted really good…disappointed my second time around. Overcooked ramen, few rice cakes scattered around with too much ramen and a hard boiled egg that came with it…the sauce was just spicy with no flavor at all.
