Warm staff and AMAZING Italian food!! (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎) 🍝🍕 Their pizza are really good, so as the pasta. I’ve also tried their tuna sandwich and spinach salad. Their sandwiches are great and will have tomato salad and pickles and the side. Their spinach salad use legit blue cheese with walnuts which tastes great as well! Although there’s a bit detergents smell inside, the seats are clean and most seats are available. They also have outdoor seating, and WiFi is accessible! This was our first time here, and everything we ordered was delicious. My daughter had the beef ravioli, which was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I ordered a Caesar salad, and it was fresh and tasty. My son got the Margherita pizza, and we all enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and patient while we placed our order, and they made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

The pizzas are nice and come in different sizes that you can share. You can build your own pizza adding ingredients to a cheese base. They also offer gluten free options. There is no service at the table. You order at the counter and pick your own table. The atmosphere is very casual.

I'm not a huge fan of the pizza and pasta. They taste alright but it is way to oily. If you order any I'd recommend dabbing it with a napkin before eating. The sides and salads are really good though. The chicken wings and cheese stix are nicely fried and the Chopped Cobb Salad is full of delicious ingredients. This place is right next to campus which makes it convenient to grab a meal. The environment is nice, with lots of table space (though somewhat dirty since people bus their own plates), TVs showing sports games, and a pool table.

Great for beers with friends and they serve pretty decent pies. Coming from New York, it's hard to compare to that taste, but La Val's does pretty good with their style. Definitely go grab a pie and beers with friends if you're in the area as a local or visiting for a long period of time.

I’ve had La Val’s pizza for more than 10 years now, and I still don’t mind to have it a couple of days in a row even today. I think that in itself says a lot about La Val’s. They’ve gotten good hot sandwiches and salad for the light days and creamy Alfredo for the heavier ones. BBQ chicken and margarita pizzas are my favorite. Fairly consistent good eat near Berkeley campus. Just watch out for pizza not being the freshest once every once in a while.

I ordered the shrimp linguini and a veggy slice. My kid got a salad and a pepperoni slice. Delicious!!!!! You cannot beat the prices here! It's directly across from UC Berkeley and we got to watch the NFL playoff game here. My only reason for not giving a 5 is that I was really cold inside. Had to wear my jacket. Other than that it's a pretty great spot. They have a pool table and Foosball.

Pretty pricey, but good pasta! I've been several times and haven't had too much of an issue. The chicken quality can be iffy at times though, either overcooked or a bit... Off? But, not terribly so either. Usually gets food out pretty fast too!

Good food and okay location. I use to enjoy coming to the original location on Durante and Telegraph. There were more billiard tables. The new location is so so.... only one pool table and it seem like it's out of the way, I can drive right by it without noticing it's there.

Nice place, what I like the most is that they have slices and you don't have to get a full pizza, which would be enormous. One of the few places where you can have a normal size portion and you don't need to go super size.

La Val's is pretty roomy and has a great atmosphere, but the food is pretty bland. If you're looking for pizza on Northside, I would recommend La Val's just because it's a very safe option and the portion sizes are pretty good. They also have a wide selection of food items, from salads to pasta to sandwiches.

A college pizza pub. Decent pizza at its price with lots of options. Plus they serve beer, offer some bar games and have a decent outdoor patio. The Athenian is worth trying though the pizzas are sometimes too bready.

Always liked the pizza here. It's not the most amazing looking place, but the pizza is much better than the standard chain pizza. The pasta dishes are respectable if you're craving them, but at the end of the day not that great.

Pizza was nothing out of the blue but service was great! They also have a pool table which costs only $1 to play. I like the vibe more than anything. Perfect place to kick it, go on a date and shoot some pool

I like La Val's a lot, and if you (like me) want cheap pizza, it's a good choice. Sometimes it's not the most delicious slice and sometimes the service can be less than perfect, but that's not really what I come here for. It just has that great campus atmosphere and good, casual eats.

Kind of a shabby well-worn place that looks like it's seen better days. But the pasta dish I got wasn't bad and the pizza is fairly good.

hit the spot because it was the only thing open. I had a calzone which was much larger than expected, and that was quite good. the margarita pizza was also good. however, the inside of the restaurant was quite dirty however, and the customer service was not not friendly (not mean, they just seemed distant and apathetic) I'd only go back if I order ahead and just pick up. the overall experience was subpar. but if you just care about the food, I'd check this place out.

Taste: 3 Value: 4 Service: 3 I've been to La Val's a couple times, maybe 5-7 times total? Their pizza by the slice is absolutely huge, and two slices look almost as big as an entire medium pizza. Their La Val's special pizza is all right, but definitely not as good as Cheeseboard. Still, it's reasonably cheap and close by campus, so at least it's convenient. I've tried their grilled chicken sandwich, and it's not bad given it's only $5. Today, I decided to drop by since I was out of cash, and ended up ordering the California club special (turkey, bacon, and avocado). The sandwich was pretty well made, and it was nice that they toasted the bread. However, my sandwich barely had any avocado in it. It usually takes a while to get food here, so if you go when there's a line, be prepared to wait at least 10-15 minutes for your food to arrive after you order.

We go here once a month. The pasta dishes are good. We attend a once a month backgammon tournament here. We really appreciate them sponsoring this event. We get a good group of experienced players.

La Val's Special isn't really anything special, but it's filling and shameless. The crust of this mini pizza is just the right thickness (not thick) and the tomato sauce tastes like a hot tomato on bread yummmm + they give you a free drink with the mini pizza. They have reasonable prices for their salads and sides. I tried the spicy chicken wings and they're decent. The lunch line can get long pretty quickly, but you can also call ahead for your pizza. I called ten minutes before I got there and it was ready by the time I was in line to pay for it. If you're in the area, stop by, but don't go too out of your way to try the menu. They also have televisions and guitar hero! Check online for coupons.

Great thin crust pizza reminiscent of a trip to Rome, but my 8 oz glass of wine was served in a 6oz glass, and the counter person just gave an irritated (or frustrated?) look when I mentioned it. (EDITED, cause I love this place! But honestly, please do some training and make sure the pour matches the advertised size.)

When I went to school in Berkeley this was one of the best places for pizza. Not anymore. Stopped in since I was in Berkeley. The pizza was aweful. Very greasey. Not the same pizza from years ago

Please don't try La Val's pizza. It was the worst pizza I have ever had. The dough was like corrugated paper and all burnt. Toppings were too little to have any taste. It was even too salty and greasy. And too expensive. Not worth trying it at all! Service and atmosphere were not bad.

Over priced food, not great service and they look for tips. In my book you earn a tip by serving us well. This place doesn't bring food to your table. It's more fast food with the high prices of a sit down restaurant that would have a waiter or a waitress. The pizza is average quality.

Classic campus spot! Gave this place a couple of chances. Always super unfriendly people working the counter, always messed up my order, and always took 30+ minutes for a single pizza. Alright for big groups I guess, but don’t get your expectations up too high.

I went during lunch hour last time and the server who handled my request was very rude, unprofessional, and shouldn't be working there. I have no idea how she got hired and have not been fired yet. I didn't get a drink even though my deal came with a drink and I wasn't able to ask questions without a rude response from her and thus ended up disliking my pizza. Additionally she placed my to go order for here and I personally had to let the cooks know that it's to-go. As someone with experience in HR, I would seriously re-evaluate her performance because not only was she being rude to customers, it made me NOT ever want to go back to Val's inspite of anything. 0 stars.
