At Meat Street, we're a neighborhood staple born from a humble beginning. Our compact market on Sacramento St has been serving up fresh produce and meats to the Berkeley community for years. We've honed our expertise in quick bites that satisfy big cravings - think juicy burgers, crispy sandwiches, and satisfying sides. Locals rave about our hearty breakfast burritos, which fuel their busy days of exploring the city's best spots. Our no-frills market atmosphere may be simple, but it's warm and inviting, making us a cozy spot to refuel on-the-go.

As a Moroccan I was delighted to find kitchenware from my country and many grocery items like moroccan olive oil, spices, dried mint and verbeena (louiza). And the best part are the moroccan clay tagines and kasria. The store owners are absolutely nice and helpful. I highly recommend this store to any North African person.
Great local butchery. They didn’t have boneless chicken thighs with skin on so the butcher sold me quartered chicken legs and chopped off the ok👍The staff was super friendly and the store was very clean. They also have fresh 1/2 priced vegetables at the front.
Such a wonderful market! Fresh grade A meat and seafood from fisherman's wharf! No lines and very friendly with a butcher on call!

Nice little neighborhood spot with lots of gems inside. I recently returned from a trip to Tunisia and I was really excited to see many of the same items I saw in the supermarkets there. The store contains lots of North African essentials and many varieties of them. They have also recently started a live station outside the store that makes hot sandwiches and such. Highly recommend a visit to the store as this is one of the few North African shops in the Berkeley area.
Amazing range of Middle Eastern products and delicatessen! Halal! Ahmed is the best!
We bought the kadayif for making Dubai chewy cookie. It was great.
sometimes you forget humanity is here in the Bay Area. Here I was reminded through a lovely French Algerian immigrant family. When I asked about the tea they had, the woman communicated, through gestures and pointing, how she makes her own tea: green tea (Sultan brand), mint, cloves, cinnamon. Everything which is available at the store. Can’t wait!
I love this place! Finally there is a Moroccan/Algerian market! I don’t have to go to Morocco anymore to buy my olives, spices, olive oil.... they have it all and more. Even tajines. They also have an awesome halal butcher and a nice selection of homemade pastries. You must try this deep fried and coated in honey dessert priced by the pound! It’s from Algeria. So yummy.
My family and I like the store for the quality of the products, the meat, chicken and merguez. Add the excellent service and just Amazing employees and owners. Thank you !
Good shop, they carry Tunisian products sometimes, good bakery, and nice merguez. I like to stop here when I’m Berkeley.
The best algerian marocan Tunisian market. All products are amasing feels like north africain market zalabia , algerian sweets drinks hamoud millefeuille , merguez and more . Good prices and quality clean market ,very fresh meat .millefeuille @$4.99 elswhere $6.99 .algerian date $10.99 elsewhere $14 .service perfect .i really apreciate the hard work of the owners to get our product shipped to the US,thanks again
Never been, but my Neighbor swore by it. I hear they sell " Fresh Halal Meats " !!!! Algerian Owned tmk. w/some Alherian Grovery Products !!!!
Nice little corner store. They dont sell liquor, but thats there only real flaw. I have often found fancy items i wouldn't expect like panko and heavy cream. The store is under new management and the new guys are super nice and are making the store a real gem. The butcher counter is looking super tasty and they have a lot of fresh hot food on offer. They make their own merguez sausage which is tasty.
This place is best unexpected treat of 2020. After moving to neighborhood in the summer we came to realize that this store literally has everything we would need in these pandemic days. No need to go to some big store. They have the best meat selection with an accommodating butcher. We always get the pre-marinated Algerian style chicken. They have the hard to find spices including a great zaatar. They make their own delicious bread, hummus and babaganoush. The coffee is pretty damn good as well. I made my whole Christmas dinner just from what I bought in their store. Everyone is friendly as well and on se parle francais si on veut pratiquer un peu.

This is a small market with a terrific meats section. It appears perhaps a family run business and everyone is very friendly. It is a small but true market and many items are not jacked up in pricing, unlike most of the several other nearby "markets" which are more like liquor stores, most of which are sketchy. You can trust that this store is not and the entire place is very clean and well maintained. While prices are not the same as a full supermarket, markups are mostly reasonable and you should not feel taken advantage of which should be normal. Compared to similar markets in the area, I rate this one pretty well and it is really nice to have this serving the local South Berkeley Neighborhoods. I only wish that they opened earlier and maybe closed a bit later but mostly this is a nice, small, local market with a friendly staff.
The team is friendly and the products are available are available at all times but should improve on pricing and presenting.

Amazing variety of Algerian groceries that you won’t find elsewhere. Many goods are price-unmarked, and when prices appear on the shelf below, they may have nothing to do with what is charged at the register. Ask for the price of Every. Single. Item. or be prepared for a mysterious surprise on your total bill.

1) The meat is expensive. But the guy there will trick you to believe that you are getting an amazing deal! I am an aware of meat prices so out of politeness I said nothing. 2) The guy didn't ask me how I like my meat to be cut. When he was about to pack the meat I told him to cut it into small pieces very politely. He gave the impression that he was very annoyed. 3) Then he was about to charge me for cutting meat which he again never mentioned. When I saw that he said ok I will waive the cutting fee. But when I went to the counter I saw he only waived for the chicken but not the beef. I found him dishonest and disrespectful. I am not a person who will cause a scene. So I decided to pay and didn't mention anything about the cutting fees for beef and just decided not to go there in life! I went to so many halal meat shops here in East Bay and South Bay but never ever saw this much non-transparency.
This Place is filthy discussing and has rats inside the meat cooler they also barbecue old meat be careful.
