Todo muy bien, la chica que nos atendió, muy agradable. Todos los platos estaban buenos, y hechos poco a poco, albóndigas, kokotxas, la carne también merece la pena. Postres muy buenos, La tarta de Idiazabal, te tiene que gustar mucho ese queso...

Muy recomendable!! Pongo 5 estrellas y no 4, pero tuvimos que pedir hasta en 3 ocasiones la piedra para calentar la carne, y se nos enfrio un poco (para los que no ibamos a usar la piedra) el trato de la mujer (parecía la dueña) fue muy amable y atenta y comimos increiblemente bien, en general nos gusto mucho y sería ser muy nazi quitar una estrella por una sobre carga de los camareros o un mal dia. Recomiendo como minimo ir una vez!

La experiencia fue excelente desde que entramos, la dueña nos recibió, llevó a la mesa, una vez instalados nos describió sus diversos platos y lo hizo de una manera que nos provocó probarlo todo, transmite la pasión por lo que hace. Al llegar los platos , era tal cual los describió , productos naturales elaboradoras con tiempos de cocción perfectos , todo estaba divino . Después de cada plato venía nuevamente la dueña a preguntar si estaba bien. Nos tomamos un vino que es elaboradora para ella, el cual estaba perfecto, los sabores jugaban el equilibrio perfecto con cada plato de comida. Al irnos ya nos sentimos en casa porque nos acompañó hasta la puerta para despedirnos . Pocas veces he comido tan bien y me han hecho sentir en casa . Deben venir sin falta . Nosotros repetiremos antes de irnos de Bilbao

En plena semana grande de Bilbao es un poco difícil sin reservar encontrar donde comer. El destino nos llevó a un lugar donde nos sentimos fenomenal. La atención es perfecta y la comida muy sabrosa y deliciosa. Gracias por la experiencia.

Fuimos recomendados por unos amigos, y nos encantó. El solomillo buenísimo, el stick tartar era de wagyú, muy rico y los hongos espectaculares.... Nos encantó todo. La atención de la dueña también impecable. Regresaremos seguro.

Wonderful seafood restaurant ! Following the maitre de advice we had barnacles and local mushrooms as starters; the barnacles were both unusual and vey good: the seafood soup and vegetable stew were excellent as was the grilled king sea bream which a touch of smoked peppers; the apple tarte tatin was wonderful- apple just melted which may be from the great local quality

We went for seafood in Bilbao, and after asking a taxi driver where to have dinner, he recommended this restaurant. He told us it’s a long-standing family place, well-known in the city as the spot to enjoy real, high-quality seafood—so we decided to go. The food was incredibly good, with spectacular flavors I had never tried before. The staff also showed us how to eat each type of seafood properly, since each one has its own technique. The atmosphere was great as well—very calm—and overall it’s an excellent restaurant. They also recommended a wine that paired perfectly with the meal. If I had to mention something to improve, it would be the reservation system. I booked a table on their website, but then they sent me an email asking to confirm the reservation—even though I had just booked it three hours earlier. Since I receive around 50 emails a day, I missed it and only confirmed half an hour before arriving, so I was worried there wouldn’t be a table for us. In the end there was plenty of space, but I don’t fully understand the need for this extra confirmation by email. If I make a reservation, that should be enough unless I contact you to cancel—or you could call or send a text message instead. Another small detail: they forgot to place the seafood tools on the table even though we had ordered a mariscada, but once I asked, they brought them quickly. These were the only two minor issues. Everything else was truly magnificent—spectacular food, delicious wine, and the waiter who brought our menus even spoke English and explained all the seafood to us.

The lobster salad was amazing! They squeezed me in as a solo (without a reservation) and it was totally worth the table-move. Then scallops for the main and those with the bread were equally amazing. Try it out. Both of the menu options were listed as house specials (H.S.), and did not disappoint.

One of the best meats-chuleton, salads (de tomate con bonito del mar) and mariscos we had ever in Spain. Professional waiters (I always willing to explain with a lot of patients and humor) very nice atmosphere, delicious food, and great selection of wine at fair prices (price varies quality) I definitely recommend this place to everyone that wants to have great food and great wine.

The restaurant opens at 8:00 PM for dinner. I arrived around 6:30 PM with the intention of having an early meal. The bartender was incredibly polite, friendly, and an excellent salesperson! He suggested I dine at the bar, and I’m so glad I took his advice. The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. This was my first time in Bilbao, and the restaurant was recommended by the hotel — definitely a great choice! A special shout-out to the bartender from Venezuela for making the experience even better!

We visited Restaurante Marisquería Serantes, a very unique restaurant. During our visit to Bilbao, we had the pleasure of dining there, and it offered an exceptional dining experience. Despite the language barrier, Oscar's friendly demeanor and attentiveness made us feel welcome and well taken care of. His warmth and genuine hospitality added a special touch to our meal. The food itself was outstanding. The seafood dishes were incredibly fresh and flavorful, showcasing the best of Basque cuisine. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, leaving us thoroughly impressed. Overall, Restaurante Marisquería Serantes is a gem in Bilbao. We were looking for some good seafood in Bilbao and we found it. I'm not too familiar with high class resturaunts but I felt like I knew it after this. Even as as an American not knowing the etiquette or how to pronounce a lot of the items on the menu, they were really friendly and understanding. They had menues in English and other languages. Everything tasted fresh, was cooked with care, and had great wine to go with it all.

Fui a cenar sola porque vi que estaba cerquita de mi hotel y fue la mejor elección que he podido hacer. Comida increíble se nota que los productos son de primera calidad. La atención muy cercana, Iratxe te asesora según tus gustos y la experiencia fue muy top. Cuando vuelva a Bilbao repetiré 100%.

Un bonito local y un personal sumamente amable son las primeras cartas de presentación de este local, donde te sientes cómodo desde el primer momento. Respecto a la comida, nos gustó, pero salimos un poco decepcionados ya que teníamos unas expectativas muy altas. Compartimos un arroz como entrante (correcto) y probamos de segundo unas albóndigas de txuleta (sabor profundísimo a carne, muy buenas), unas kokotxas (el pilpil nos pareció demasiado ligero) y un rabo de buey cuya ración, al servirse con hueso, resultaba muy escasa. Los postres, buenos. Respecto al precio, acorde al local, pero a nosotros nos pareció algo caro teniendo en cuenta la calidad/cantidad de comida.

We sat at the bar and received excellent service even though we did not speak Spanish. You can pick out your crab or Lobster so you know it is fresh. I imagine if you are local you can order off the menu but that was beyond our linguistic capabilities.

Es la primera vez que hemos ido a Bilbao y buscamos un restaurante con buena comida para probar. Todo lo que pedimos ( arroz de carabineros, carrilleras de atún rojo, txuleta y tarta de queso) buenísimo, el precio es elevado pero es cierto que lo que comes lo vale. Con lo único que tenemos “queja” es que a nuestro parecer hay alguna camarera que tiene una actitud bastante fría; estamos acostumbrados a un trato “familiar” y sí que nos hemos sentido algo incómodos sobretodo yendo con niños, sin quitar profesionalidad a ninguno de ellos, que de eso no falta.

Nos atendió una chica muy agradable, nos indicó que la comida era casera y con productos de alta calidad, carne de productores locales y bacalao de Islandia, nos indicó que por fechas no tenían muchos de esos productos, digo yo, si en estas fechas no dispones de esos productos me parece un poco mal, se nos dice que disponen de pan celíaco recién echo en horno, puesto que disponen de la masa, al de un rato nos traen pan de celíaco en una bolsa calentado en microondas, le pregunto el porqué de este pan cuando se nos dijo otra cosa, dice que no disponen de ese pan asta enero. 🤔 no hubiera sido mejor decir la verdad de primeras, no le pongo menos puntuación porque la comida y el sitio fueron sublimes, pero si tienes un restaurante de este nivel lo suyo seria disponer de otros proveedores,para no estar en estas fechas a medias.

The restaurant is cute and service nice. However the food is so salty… The lobster paella (70€ for 2) was of course way too salty even though tasty. However it had none of the crust/crunchiness golden part we expected for a paella of this price and standard especially after waiting an hour on it. I would recommend just to stick to sea food They include a 10% service fee which is surprising for a Spanish restaurant. They also charge for the bread that they give you automatically (2€/pers)

I really wanted to love it but it wasn't for me. The room was great, the staff was busy but very polite. The presentation of fish was fabulous but they drown it in so much olive oil that you can't taste anything else. We even told them little to no oil, but when it came, the fish could have been swimming if it weren't already cooked. I even had to stop the waiter from pouring more over top. For the high cost and quality, I can't recommend for healthy dinning.

We were seated quickly as a walk in without a reservation, bonus point. On the table we noticed dirty plates, napkins and cutlery that were replaced up on request. We were told the specials of the day and ordered a starter and main courses, drinks. The drinks were brought outside by hand without a tray, and the waiter held the glasses by the top. A massive no go! The starter were calamaris that arrived on a plate without a sauce or a lemon. We asked for a sauce and were asked if mayonnaise is ok? We said yes and after 10 minutes we just started eating without any sauce. The main courses arrived, 2 steaks and some fries. Both medium rare although we asked for 1 to be medium. Two fried haka, the presentation was just not present. I have to say i was working in the service industry and know service very well, also in the group was a chef so we have first hand experience in quality and service. The fifth dish, a meat dish was very nice. We asked for the bill after dinner and noticed that additional drinks were added, which we did not order. We requested those to be removed and received no complaint from the staff. I normally leave a minimum of 10% tip but we were very disappointed with the presentation and the customer service and there for did not complain but also left no tip. Up on leavening nobody said good bye. For advertising with Michelin recommendations at the door holding fish restaurant we had a bad experience and would not recommend it further.

Optimus Servers

We were 4 people (Me and 3 other women) and ordered the lobster rice for 3 after explaining the manager that my mother did not like lobster and asking to replace the lobster for shrimps for her, which they agreed to. The rice was quite good, no issues there. However, the portions were ridiculously small and even the 2 women who eat very little were shocked , not being able to have a full plate . It was clearly a 2 people portion served for 3 and it had at most a small lobster of small size in it and very small amount of rice . We mentioned this to the manager that guaranteed us the portion was according to the usual quantity which didjt convince us at all. When the bill came, we were all shocked that they were trying to charge us 25eur extra for 8 small shrimps (when it was supposed to be a replacement for the lobster which is obviously even more expensive). We complained and the manager was arrogant and tried to force us to pay for it, starting an unnecessary argument . Unfortunately I had to raise my voice a bit more than I would have liked until he agreed to remove the extra charge and he was extremely rude just throwing the new. Ill on the table and not even answering my sister when she said goodbye. I went to a lot more expensive restaurants all over the world and never experienced such situation, the day before we went to Amare and paid twice the bill snd so haloy about the service , it wasnt really about the money, just a matter of principle. The waiter serving us was also totally absent and unprepared. Good food but terrible character from the manager who is too full of himself ruined the experience.

I visited Serantes in Bilbao on May 30, 2024, with friends. The restaurant was recommended by a local as a top place for seafood and has been mentioned several times in the Michelin guide, which raised our expectations. We arrived without a reservation but were fortunate to get a table for four. However, from that point on, the experience was disappointing. No specials or recommendations were offered by the staff - we had to choose from the menu without any guidance. The waiter poured the wine directly into our glasses without offering a taste first. To their credit, when I mentioned that the wine didn't meet my expectations, they did allow me to try another bottle - though unfortunately, it also lacked the typical character I expect from Albariño. The oysters arrived on a tray of ice, already opened but not separated from the shell. No one informed us of this, and no proper utensils were provided, so I had to detach them using a fork - an inappropriate presentation for a restaurant of this caliber. Worse, when they cleared the oyster tray, melted ice water spilled onto the table and onto my belongings, which were on a chair. Again, not something one expects from a restaurant of this supposed standard. The soup that followed was poured at the table, but sloppily - spilling over the edges of the plates, giving the impression of a canteen rather than a fine dining restaurant. The one highlight was the fish: perfectly cooked and full of flavor. In summary, Serantes needs serious investment in staff training. A restaurant with these prices cannot afford such unprofessional service. My friends and I left disappointed and unimpressed
