This place was amazing! I was recommended to come here by my mom and a couple of patients of mine, and I was not disappointed. I love the juice selection options for the mimosas which were very good, and both my boyfriend and I absolutely loved our dishes. I would drive an hour to Birmingham just to come here again!
Delicious place to have brunch. We had the broccoli bacon omelets and the peanut butter and jelly pancakes. The fried green tomatoes. The lattes are good. The eclectic style restaurant had an enjoyable atmosphere. Please know that the lunch menu with salads and soup is only available during the week. Parking is accessible in a nearby garage. Free parking on the weekends.
Adorable place! Good music & food! Loved the decor & atmosphere.
Toast is a comfy little breakfast spot in downtown Birmingham. The menu has everything from fish, omlettes, pancakes to poutine. The food we had was phenominal and the atmosphere and service was top notch as well. We were fortunate enough to get a booth in the window display which was very intimate and the rest of the space was charming as well. Check this place out!
Delish! I love the variety of their dishes, the food is presented beautifully and it tastes great! The atmosphere is very funky and inviting. Certainly a place for brunch or just to meet up with friends and share a delicious 😋 meal 🍴. The prices are moderate and the service is great. I will definitely return. I returned to Toast for dinner, and I was not let down. It was a Saturday night, but it was not really busy. We sat outside which made for a beautiful night. The food was delicious, but I can't stop raving about their shrimp and grits! It was the best I've ever had, and I come from the south. Just phenomenal. They have a good menu and offerings. We will certainly return!
Love this place! Delicious, creative food. Great staff! Super friendly. Busy but efficient. Local cherished favorite!
Food was bombbb💣 The roared green tomatoes and #2 toast starters were so good. The cappuccino was one of the best I’ve ever had. The Scotty nova was so flavorful. One of my top brunch houses so far. Really loved the ambiance as well.
Toast is a very eccentric looking restaurant with a great menu and excellent cocktails. From walking in the door I was impressed with the decor and thought it was very fun and cozy all in one. Definitely a nicer brunch place and not some where you would stop for just a quick bite, It’s more of an experience place which I highly enjoyed. Our server was very friendly and very informative and made sure we understood the menu and the specials. Our drinks were delicious and I loved that my mocha was hot and my friends cocktail was fresh tasting. When our food came, it was timely and hot which is always a plus. The flavor of the food was superb, definitely top notch. Only con, which isn’t the really the restaurant’s fault, parking is tight unless you use the parking garage. All in all I have already recommended people I know that this is a great place to check out and I’m already planning my next visit!
Our server was fantastic and so was the food and our drinks. If I’m ever back in the area, I’m just going to order 10 strawberry shortcake pancakes to go and eat them until I can’t anymore. Sooooo good.
stopped in for lunch and had the most amazing meal. the short rib poutine was PERFECT, all the flavors went so well together it was heaven. i cant wait to go back.
Great energy all around. My green tea was excellent as I sipped while waiting on my breakfast to arrive.
The Birmingham location is top tier! Plenty of outside seating for people watching while eating. My waitress and hostess were amazing! I can't say enough about there service. I do believe Iris or Isis was my waitress name. The home fries were delicious, I added cheese and onions for an extra kick! Turkey sausage patties were the perfect size. The banana nutella belgian waffles were good and sweet. Perfect compliment to the sides. I got the passion fruit mojito. More champagne than the other options as an fyi to anyone! The right amount of fruitiness with bubbly. I'll definitely be back!
Beautiful little spot in Birmingham Michigan. The style is very unique. I would recommend the bacon rice for its very fresh tasting vegetables and campfire hot chocolate on a brisk cold day. Stop by this place you will definitely be impressed with Toast!
Lovely little place to have a brunch in downtown Birmingham. Food was very good and looked great as well. From the kids meal of French toast to omeletes of all kinds it was good. The service was attentive and helpful. Good for people accross from the park and The Towsend. Relax and have fun. Street parking or just your downtown parking issues.
Went here on a first date and the food and service were great 👌 I'll definitely be back. We sat on the patio and it was pretty funny people watching as well. Coffee was great, mini donuts were delicious, my egg Benedicts were done very well. The service was impeccable. The server was always there just when my drinks got low
We had a great brunch here on Saturday. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant has a fun atmosphere. We tried the Parisian omelet and the Nova Scotia. The flavors were amazing and we throughly enjoyed the meal. The highlight for me was the unicorn hot chocolate, you can taste the magic and it made me feel like a real princess!
This place was super cute!! I love the decor and overall vibe of the restaurant. The menu had so many fun drinks and apps. Service was super fast. We went on a busy Sunday morning and only waited about 10 minutes to get a seat. Our server was super nice too. Will be eating here again next time I’m in the area!
Went here for brunch on Sunday , loved the vibe . We got the place pretty quick maybe cos we were just 2 . Ordered the Cappuccino , after a long time had a good cappuccino . For food awe had power bowl - loved it. My husband ordered something which he didn’t quite like (shared the picture ) it had a tomatoes gravy with poached egg , the plain french toast was good, we wished we ordered the one from special menu with some cream and berries . Overall the staff was attentive and food was served in 10-15minutes
Had brunch at Toast in Birmingham. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent! I have been to this restaurant a number of times and it has always been a great experience. I highly recommend Toast in Birmingham and we'll be back soon!
Toast in Birmingham, MI, is undoubtedly the best brunch spot in town, and our recent visit affirmed its stellar reputation. The vibrant, welcoming atmosphere set the perfect tone for a delightful meal, further elevated by Jackie, our exceptional server. Her keen attention to detail and warm hospitality showcased Toast's commitment to excellence, transforming our brunch into an unforgettable experience. From the beautifully presented dishes to the exquisite flavors, every aspect of our visit was impeccable. Jackie’s expertise and enthusiasm truly highlighted Toast’s dedication to making every meal memorable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch brunch experience.
Great food and atmosphere, staff is very friendly, but food is a lot bit slow.
Maya was wonderful! The cherry French toast special was definitely the highlight. The chicken and waffle was our second favorite because of the flavorful crispy chicken. You can go wrong with this place!
Went today around lunch time while downtown Birmingham. The waiter we had Jameson was great! Although we had some small mishaps with my wifes order he fixed them or made accommodations quick. I ordered the Gingerman French toast with no whipped cream, scrambled eggs, and the bacon fried rice. The French Toast was thick and the cooked apples made them pop with flavor. It also had pecans witch added some crispy elements. Eggs were perfect and the bacon rice was different but really worked. I enjoyed it and we had a great waiter. 1st time and we will be back
Great Spot for Breakfast! Really enjoyed my visit here — the food was delicious and came out quickly, perfect for a morning bite. The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better. Cozy atmosphere and great service all around. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good breakfast spot!
We were visiting from out of town, I had been here once before years ago & wanted to share the experience with my kids - TOAST did not disappoint!! My little guy was SO happy with his unicorn hot cocoa. The food was excellent & the service was top-notch, Jameson was the cherry on top, he went above & beyond making it not just a family going out to eat, but a whole experience. It might be a few years before we're able to get back to the area, but we will definitely be back!
I was really excited for the dish I ordered, the fried green tomato Benny, and it was even better than my highest expectation. The staff were wonderful and the place has a unique and interesting atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning here soon.
The bacon fried rice is superb, the pickled veg compliments the dish nicelt. Skip the over-priced and doughy biscuit though. Coffee's are always good.
I feel conflicted writing this review. I loved the atmosphere from first step in the door. The host/hostess counter looked like a vintage oven. The ambiance was calming and decor felt nostalgic. The service was good. They were busy on this Wednesday morning so we waited a while before even getting water. But, the food arrived quickly after we ordered and our waitress was friendly. The guy next to me commented that Toast is know for their omelets so I decided to try the Spicy Cali. The sides were delicious. I really enjoyed the Parmesan grits, the sourdough toast and homemade strawberry jam. The omelet was disappointing. It didn’t taste like the eggs were salted. They were also crusted and dry. A little salt or cooking them in butter could help a lot. We had a very nice brunch and I would definitely go back, but I would try something else. The menu is extensive so finding a favorite should be easy.
Good vibes only at this beautiful brunch place in the most iconic city - Birmingham! Good ambience and feel good place. All the servers are amazing with good service. A must visit place in Birmingham for good food options. Only thing off about the brunch was the vegan scrambled item, this was a big no no. Did not taste good at all.
Waiter was great. Place was cool. Food was fine but overall over priced for what it is. Chicken and a waffle $20. Cinnamon roll $9 and it's normal sized. My cappuccino was $7. So $36 just for my order! I mean I understand inflation and all but even still that's a bit much. Wife got Texas hash and it would have been better sans all the cheese that was over whelming. Definitely worth checking out, but don't expect the food to blow you away.
Ingredients seemed OK, but the two dishes we got lacked flavor, which is not really a risk one expects when ordering breakfast enchiladas. Food came out insanely fast (almost worrisome). And, not to be a diva, especially at a chill brunch spot, but both of our water glasses were empty - we left before they could have been refilled.
Got there early in the morning, 8:15 and was seated immediately at a nice bench seat with pillow. Very comfortable. There are some pretty dishes coming out of the kitchen. I ordered the dirty cowboy, which had a delicious, meaty gravy on it. Hated a little less pretty, however it was covering a delicious Western-like omellete with cheddar. It was the best omelet I've had this year. Although it's only February 1st! A latte was very good, the English muffin was baked locally. The jam was madeby an old lady nearby. The little salad had a tasty honey mustard vinaigrette. Overall, a nice atmosphere and an excellent breakfast.
Been here several times when I lived here. Wanted to bring my twins to a place that had a bit of variety. Food earn piping hot. Potatoes were cold they were replaced sing send the rest back.
The strawberry jam was amazing. The bacon fried rice was delicious. However they give you one piece of toast cut in half.
Pretty cool place for breakfast. Service was great and food was good.
We had nice Sunday breakfast there. We waited about 15–20 minutes for a table, but they text you when it’s ready so it’s easy to plan. Food and coffee were tasty. We chose to sit outside—it was shaded, not too noisy, and perfect for a relaxed morning.
The restaurant is super nice, good decoration, the food is super delicious! What I loved most was the avocado toast, the coffee was not that hot but very delicious! A very important and unfavorable point for the restaurant is that it does not have a children's changing table in the bathroom… and it really is something that is super necessary and even more so when it is a family place!
Aesthetically pleasing, went mainly for the coffee and order a banana coffee which was not in my opinion good (it taste like coca cola. Hence, I order a regular cappuccino. Overall staff were friendly and welcoming food was good- atmosphere was great. Toast is a great place to have brunch if you're in the area.
The food was fantastic, and the service was good. Be prepared to pay 20% gratuity on all parties larger than one see receipt. I had the chicken and waffles, and it was lightly breaded and delicious. The wife had a beet omelet; yes, it sounds weird, but it was flavorful. A minor issue is the restaurant could use a good cleaning; very dusty, and not appealing, and the environment is loud with a full house.
I’ve been here numerous times, it’s close by so it’s convenient for brunch. The food is usually not bad, my favorite meal I’ve had here was probably the avocado toast. The classic two eggs any style breakfast was kind of bland, everything was pretty dry, so I probably wouldn’t get that again. The atmosphere is very unique and busy, but very cool! The service honestly has never really impressed me, I haven’t left remembering one of the servers names or having connected with one of them. Not bad service, just nothing special. It’s worth the trip if you’re in the area, not a bad brunch spot.
Great breakfast spot with the guys. Got there at opening and got a very good seating. Only problem was it was a bit chilly by the windows. Food was good and plentiful. Would go back but it need not be so cold inside. (I believe it was because it had just open but it never got warmer)
The staff was friendly and we sat outside with no one around which was nice. When the food came out it looked fantastic but I gotta be honest it wasn’t that good. It wasn’t bad but it lacked flavor. I ordered the chicken n waffle Benny and my fiancé got the Mediterranean salad which was better then my meal. The only good part of my meal was the bacon rice side so I’m kind of disappointed.
Visited again after five years or so. I know it’s in downtown Birmingham… but everything is sooooo expensive now! The food is meh, but the atmosphere is good, which is what attracts people. We stared at the menu for a really long time probably because nothing seemed very appealing. Had eggs Benedict, nothing special but don’t get Parmesan cheese oat or whatever it’s called……. Everyone disliked it. It’s a cute place to go for a date but for food? Definitely not :(
I’ve been here couple times. The menu has a lot of interesting items. But dirty silverware, coffee cups with lipstick stains killing me here. It’s disgusting. I can get the cozy, home like atmosphere here. But that shouldn’t mean serving with dirty dishes. It’s overpriced for such a table setting. Service depends on who you got. No consistency. I usually try to catch the waitress to receive service, e.g a napkin or ordering something additional. I think I’m done with Toast and its mediocre, overpriced style.
First time at this location. Compared to the one on Woodward this was a tad bit better food wise. Food: biscuits and gravy; mexi Benny; smoked fish plate: Greek omelette. My daughter enjoyed the fish plate. The smoked white fish was a tad too salty for me. She also enjoyed her omelette. The biscuits and gravy were hot and good. The gravy was made with turkey. My Benny was cold. I ordered grits, but received potatoes. Nothing frustrates me more than food that should be served hot and is not served that way at all. Another reason why I have cut back significantly on dining out, aside from being served cold food, GRATUITY. At 20%, I will pass on returning. To pay ~$15 for someone to take my order and bring me the food is ridiculous. I would rather you pay your employees a fair wage, increase the cost of food and eliminate gratuity altogether. The service was not that great. I also did not like having to sit in the window. I was on display for 1.5 hours. We walked by so many other tables that were empty. I assumed they were being held for larger groups but that wasn’t the case at all. All in all, food was ok, service could be better and get rid of the display window seat. It was a little too chilly outside for that to be anyone’s seat.
Great vibe and good service but that's about it. Gratuity 20% is forcibly included. 10% gratuity on take out is beyond me. Food is quite mid and overpriced. Juice was claimed to be freshly squeezed but tastes store bought and tiny in portion. I'd come back for the vibe only.
Came to celebrate a birthday brunch. Super cute and cozy decor. Loved how small, cluttered and kind of mismatched everything was. Lent it kind of a small town, homey vibe. Service was very friendly. Food was not bad, but nothing extraordinary. Everything was a bit on the flavorless side and needed salt and pepper but portions were definitely shareable. Disappointed there were no Eggs Benedict options. Those who got a latte really enjoyed.
I miss their vegetarian breakfast burrito they had before the menu was changed. That's the only option they had even then but it was enough for me! My wife loves the place though so we come every now and then. Overall 3.5 out of 5.
We were eating out as a family enjoying our day off. We understood with it being a holiday that there would be a wait. After waiting the 30 plus minutes we recieved a text notifying we were able to be seated. Everything was intially great. Our table places the order and our server who was super sweet accident brings us someone else’s dish. Instantly apologizes and states since this is not yours I will comp this meal because you couldn’t eat it and it’s not ready. We finally get the correct order of pancakes… the first stack was good until we cut into money. A quarter was in between the layers of pancakes. Absolutely disgusting, the manager apologizes and does nothing further. I was extremely disappointed because we had already fed our children from this plate. Not the servers fault but definitely wondering what was going on in the kitchen and what else we may of consumed. Intially I thought it had to be a prank. Needless to say won’t be back after the wait time and then consuming a health hazard.
Had the most unreal experience! I decided to try a new drink that I didn’t care for so I sent it back. I then asked for banana ON my waffle and received them cooked inside. When I let the ride server know she SNATCHED the plate out my hand. It took a LOT for me to remember my growth also where I was to not reciprocate energy. I feel like she should’ve been asked off the floor but I instead got a new server that I tipped $50. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
