Avis sur Ristorante “C’era una Volta” Bormida
A pleasant rediscovery! We returned after years and had an excellent lunch: quality, quantity, and courtesy. The restaurant, divided over three levels, is truly pleasant, with large windows and glass-brick walls.
We chose this place to spend the day at the lake, and we had a really good time. The place is very cute, but we chose to have lunch outside on a breezy day, so it was perfect. The staff is very kind and, above all, very patient. The à la carte menu offers a choice of 5-6 dishes, including appetizers, first courses, second courses, and desserts. There's also a good selection of wines. The octopus and potatoes were very good, as were the spinach gnocchi with local mushroom sauce. The ravioli and sausage with potatoes were also excellent. For dessert, I recommend the raspberry cup. Prices are reasonable. We'll definitely be back.
Great place, service is fast, waiters polite, food great. Recommended

Let me start by saying that we ate well: generous dishes, cooked to a perfection that even exceeded our expectations. The place is beautiful: a well-kept and clean little house in an excellent location. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, if I have one criticism, it's (unexpectedly) about the bill: 2 appetizers, 1 first course, 1 second course, 2 desserts, 1/2 liter of wine, water, and coffee, €83 (over €40/person). Of course, it's nothing out of the ordinary, but for a genuine inland osteria, I expect the bill to be a little lower. We'll be back!
We had lunch with friends by chance one Sunday, returning from a motorcycle ride, inspired by two reviews. We were welcomed in a warm setting with a lit stove, a bit old-fashioned but with its '80s charm... excellent, plentiful dishes, and made with quality ingredients. The prices weren't low, but they were average, and considering the food, I'd say they were justified. Congratulations. We'll be back.
I was with a group of six mountain bikers and we stopped here for lunch for their menu of the day. The menu included pizza, a dish of assorted local meat and cheese, followed by pasta, and then dessert, wine, water, and coke all for 15 euros. Food was simple but good and the staff was very friendly.
I went to the "C'era una volta" restaurant this Sunday with the intention of having lunch, but unfortunately, the experience was completely negative, despite not even being able to try the food. Upon arrival, I was informed that on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) dining is by reservation only. Since we hadn't made a reservation, we were unable to sit. I fully understand that reservations may be necessary, especially on busy days, but I believe it's essential that this information be clearly and prominently displayed on online channels (such as Google and your TripAdvisor page). Finding yourself at the door and then discovering that you can't eat due to an unpublicized rule is extremely frustrating and highlights a serious flaw in customer information management. I hope this constructive criticism leads to improved communication online and on-site, to prevent other customers from experiencing the same unpleasant surprise. I will gladly update this review (and hope to give you a much higher rating) when I have the opportunity to return, this time by booking, and finally taste your dishes.
I can only comment on the tourist menu, the only option for lunch. The menu is sparse and poorly cooked. I don't know if the food is better in the evening, but what we had for lunch today was truly awful! I've never had such a bad meal! Highly not recommended!
