The BEST restaurant in the DFW area. Worth the drive. Bring your own bottle of wine and definitely have dessert.
I LOVE this place- Who would have thought such Great food could be found in such an unlikely small town and place. The Diablo Pasta is my favorite...the salads are gourmet with surprises and The Desserts.. Let me just say I'm Addictes to the To Die For Pie. Literally..I've bought the entire Pie, in all its sweet, creamy, spongy, fruity goodness... multiple times. It's the sort of thing you dream about on the way to work.... The staff are always knowledgeable and friendly...it's just one of my favorite places to get to. Don't mind the drive...it's WORTH IT 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Really good food in small Texas town. Been here 3 times, whenever I've been in the area. Nearly always busy. Had Shrimp and Grits, its great even though it may sound not. Many unique food choices, been with 30+ others, all really enjoyed food and casual atmosphere.
A wee bit our out of the way but well worth the trip. Tonight we had shrimp-n-grits and it was awesome. We also had the shrimp boil and the shrimp in both were exceptionally cooked. We'll be back...
Exceptionally delicious food and very friendly and accommodating to food allergies.
Phenomenal food. We drove 45 minutes for dinner. It was worth it. BYOB...so don't forget. Also fun birthday candles ....for use in their awesome deserts. The bread pudding was my favorite. It is so popular...be prepared to wait. No reservations.
Spectacular restaurant hidden away behind a nondescript sign in basically a wide place in Hwy 114. You would never suspect that 5-star truly gourmet-level food awaits you there. Seafood, Cajun, American, it's all outstanding! The chef is a "seasoned" genius, coming from big-city venues to dazzle everyone that finds out about it. We had salmon, crab-stuffed shrimp and Cajun Bento boxes. We've been, we went tonight, and we will 100% be back!
It might be a bit of a drive but, this place is a must try for Dinner. They don't open until 4pm. My whole party loved their food. I had the salmon but it was overcooked for me so they made me another. My BF had the redfish OMG it was fabulous as was my salmon. My friend had the lunch box.(Bento style) servings of several items. She said the Shrimp and Grits were the best she has had. We also recommend the seafood hush puppies. Best meal at a restaurant we have ever had. Oh and the 2die4 dessert is truly to die for. Thanks GoGo Gumbo we will definitely be back.
Fabulous! Been coming here for 12+ years and it is still top notch food and service! UPDATE: Prime Rib last night was amazing! It was packed but we got there between rushes so didn't have to wait long. My favorite place by far!
It would be crazy to say "it's a great restaurant for a small town like Boyd" - the truth is, it's a great restaurant, period! The food is consistently amazing, the service is pleasant and informative, and the whole gang working there loves what they do. On your first visit, consider the "TV Dinner", a bento box sampler. Otherwise, go with one of the specials - they really are special, something on season or otherwise special. Even if you're trying to be healthy, get a dessert - they are that good.
Food was excellent and I had to remind myself I was in a small town restaurant. Portions are on the larger side. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The wait was a little long when we went, but I believe that attributes to how good they are. I will definitely be returning.
My family and I enjoyed our dinner experience this October! Be sure to get there early as they don't do reservations and get busy quickly! The food was really good, I ordered the shrimp and crab gumbo and it was good but the jambalaya pasta was delicious!
This is our secret 🤫 5-Star restaurant. All food hand selected by chef. Prepared fresh daily. It’s a bit of a drive off the beaten path, but worth the drive. Your first visit, I’d recommend the Bento Box (TV Dinner) for a variety of foods. You definitely should eat the Tempura Green Beans, grits, salmon, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, etc - and the specials are usually wonderful too. Quality food. Rare these days. We ALWAYS take home a variety of desserts and eat them over the next day or two. You can’t go wrong. Enjoy!
You can not go wrong here. The food is just next level and the attention to detail from the staff is second to none. I am highly anticipating the next time.
Who woulda thought there'd be a restaurant this good in Boyd. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious. All of us ordered something different and all of it was excellent. We ordered the hot crab dip with garlic bread, and someone might have licked the plate. :) We will absolutely go back. So many things I want to try.
My wife is from Louisiana so we had high hopes as we heard great things about this place. It was okay, but I'm not sure if the prices reflect the quality of the food... at least not on the whole. Some of the food was quite good (crab cakes, fried shrimp), but the quintessential cajun food we tried was underwhelming (specifically the gumbo). The staff was super friendly so no complaints there. I'd like to try it again to see if we missed something...
The food was very good. I had the catfish basket with coleslaw and hushpuppies. And Fries. My mother in law had the blackened salmon and a salad. My husband had the special for the night (steak). Our 1yo shared the food with us. The service was excellent but I did feel rushed to leave. Having a young baby makes it hard to eat fast. But otherwise everything was excellent. I would go back again. (Although we can't go often because of the price.)
By far the best seafood I have had. The Cajun cuisine here was amazing. I had the gumbo and the redfish and man was I impressed. The meal came with soy friend green beans and a creamy pasta and I could have eaten those two things alone. Service was great, the staff was so friendly. It is worth the drive from Fort Worth.
It’s a little loud for my liking but it’s worth it. The food is always top notch no matter what you order. The staff is always friendly. They could stand to have a larger establishment, but I’m sure they will in time. Parking is the biggest hurdle to jump. But you can find parking across the street. Just be careful crossing 114.
I came in with my family (4 adults & a toddler) Saturday afternoon, about 5pm. We had to wait 35-45ish minutes, but we were already planning for that since it seems like there are always people waiting outside when we drive by. After giving gogo gumbo! a try, it's easy to see why that is. The atmosphere is great. I'm not sure I can perfectly describe it, because saying it has a "hometown bar" vibe might be a little backhanded to some, but it really did feel like we were sitting in one of those movie settings where everybody knows everybody. The service was fantastic. Joy was our server; she was very knowledgeable and able to answer anything we threw at her. The food - oh man... I could eat myself to death on crab cakes. Shrimp & grits: delicious. Gumbo: also awesome. Even my toddler's chicken tenders were good (especially when dipped in remoulade!) I can't recommend gogo gumbo! enough. We'll definitely be back!
We frequently attend the cooking classes taught by Chef Hebert. It is a good time, I learn something about cooking and we get to eat the dish we learned to cook. What's not to like about that? Great food, great service, the restaurant is a little dated but it works. 👌Just go...
My husband and I don't really like seafood. But we heard good things. This is officially our date night diner. Amazing. Come early because this place is small and Packs out. The flavors guys. Perfectly cooked. But the flavooooors
Went with my whole family (9 of us) and we were blown away. Such a great place tucked away in a small town, but worth the drive. I would classify this place as a "hole-in-the-wall". First, our server was phenomenal. Attentive, fun, and all around awesome. Secondly, the food (especially for the price) was exceptional from appetizer to entree to dessert. The gumbo, crab cake, shrimp & grits, and shrimp boil were notably good. Pecan tart with homemade caramel ice cream was amazing. If you are looking for an upscale, fine dining experience then this ain't for you. If you want great food and a laid-back atmosphere, then this is the place. We will be back.
So glad my friend recommended this place. Right as you walk in it has that Louisiana smell of good food. I tried the tv dinner which is a mix 4 small dishes to try variety. Salad was fancy with feta and cranberries, shrimp and grits was so rich and delicious, crab cake with slaw was perfect to play off the other dishes and the gumbo cup was really good as well. Definitely a great 1st dish for the variety.
Best seafood you can get within 200 miles. Worth a 45-1 hr drive if you are serious about seafood with authentic Cajun options. Even the dessert menu will knock you off your feet. Words can’t describe how much of a treasure this place is to us. Boyd’s best kept secret. Some of our friends in Bridgeport don’t even know about it! Prepare to wait for 30– 1 hr as seating is in high demand during dinner hours. Casual dress is just fine. Oh and it’s BYOB! They kindly provide wine glasses. Family owned, they take care of their staff, service and food quality is always consistent. We take home whole pies and you should too.
A high-end experience in a small town. I have tried this place a few times and have been very presently surprised. The seafood is excellent and cooked superbly! Even my wife, who is not a seafood person, had the pasta and loved it! Be sure to try out Wednesday nights for the prime rib, and if you want to really bust your buttons, get some of the "To die for" cake. You will be on cloud nine. My only suggestion is to live close or take an Uber because you will be in a blissful food coma afterward.
If you are looking for serious gumbo look no further. This was my first visit to this establishment and you can bet your bottom dollar I will be coming back. The Rue was absolute perfection. Fried green beans amazing blackened shrimp catfish even the french fries or better than your normal everyday restaurant then we come on to the desserts personally I had bread pudding with salted caramel drizzled over the top with ice cream as well as something I've heard of for far too long and never really had a chance to try it but now I have they have a dessert called "2die4", and it absolutely was. In my experiences some of the best food comes from hole in the wall places. GoGo gumbo has far exceeded my expectations and for this they have definitely gained a customer for life.
Always amazing! The food here is all delicious and packed with flavor. This is a local dive that I recommend to any and everyone. The "TV dinner" is my favorite because you get a variety of everything with it. You also can't go wrong with the chicken schzizzle. We go here a few times a month and it's consistently awesome
Don't let the location fool you. GoGo Gumbo serves up delicious Cajun food. While they do have shrimp and catfish baskets the also have wonderfully prepared salads, specials like redfish Pontchartrain, and some of the best desserts you can find anywhere. This BYOB restaurant won't disappoint. It's worth the drive and it's truly unique.
After moving from Atlanta Georgia, I was shocked we stumbled up on this restaurant. Talk about a 5 Star chef!!! Everything we have ordered has been remarkable!! Their desserts are awesome! Everything made from scratch !!! Best food ever!!!
Catherine and I have been to GoGo Gumbo twice. We can't wait to go again. The staff always greets with a smile and seats you quickly. Seating is limited and can fill up fast. It's best to call ahead during peek hours. Your servers are very attentive and eager to satisfy your desires. If you have a question about something on the menu, just ask. The food is wonderful. Any of the appetizers will wake your taste buds. The main course is plenty and full of unique flavors. Want a dessert? They are Big Easy decedent. We finished well satisfied and left wondering what other surprises were still to be discovered next time.
Without any doubt, hesitation, or concern I can proudly say that this is the best damn gumbo in Ft. Worth and surrounding area. The staff was wonderful and the service was fast. If you like Cajun food then don't wait just go!!
Good food, as close to New Orleans taste as your going to get in this area
What a diamond in the ruff! An uptown restaurant in downtown Boyd! I had the seafood gumbo which was seasoned so well and very flavorful. The menu contains a variety of Cajun selections. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Parking is right in front of the restaurant. A very enjoyable eating experience.
This is a wonderful small town gem... the Chef embraces the New Orleans cuisine. Always wonderful food.
This is truly a hidden gem, it may not look like much outside or even be located in a place you would expect to find such fine dining. Believe me it's Worth the visit. My significant other was blown away by the atmosphere and the food! 🥰
Such great food. Always a full restaurant but still friendly staff and quick(ish) service! The prices will give you sticker shock, but still go… even if it’s only occasionally.
We went on Wednesday, prime rib night. I got a taste of that, as well, because someone at my table ordered it. Fabulous. Will order that next time, but not sorry I ordered the crab Stuffed shrimp. The food, overall, is top notch. We arrived about 7 p.m. and had a 45 minute wait. Totally worth the wait.
It has nearly been a decade since the last time I went and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Thank you Craig for running such a wonderful little restaurant.
We came here on prime rib night for an early anniversary dinner. The prime rib alone gets this place 5 stars. I overheard the owner talking about getting there early if you want to make sure you get prime rib, which makes sense. I got the TV dinner with shrimp and crab gumbo. I didnt know that I liked shrimp and grits, but I do now. Unfortunately, the cup of gumbo was burned and bitter but everything else was so good I didn't bring it up to the server and it wont dissuade us from going back or even trying the gumbo another time. If I got the gumbo only and it tasted like that, I would have sent it back but others say the gumbo is amazing and its in their name so I assume it was a bad batch. We got jambalaya pasta to go and it was fantastic too. I really liked the slaw that went with the crab cakes. It was lighter and fresh tasting as opposed to bbq slaw. Caramel salted ice cream is worth getting some for home.
Our dinner was excellent! The prime rib and sides were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We had a piece of the Girl Scout cheesecake and it was excellent. My husband said it was the best cheesecake he had ever had!
It's the fancy place in Boyd. You don't need a menu, order the TV Dinner if you haven't been here.
Food was great. Our server Karla was outstanding. Great atmosphere. Love that it's BYOB! The fried green beans are a must!
Wow!! This place is amazing! Best gumbo, best catfish.. best dessert! Best everything! I highly recommend! Also, the owner is so welcoming and friendly! We will be back soon!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND…. What a GEM …. Food is simply excellent and the Staff is wonderful… travelled 2 nights in a row from business trip in Grapevine and will do so again trying different dishes each night and all a delight.
We had the prime rib, shrimp and grits and sausage jambalaya. Everyone loved their meals! We will definitely be back again and highly recommend!
Guys! Chef John's crab cake stuffed trout is nothing short of excellent! I am amazed at the flavors in the dish, so complimentary.! Mild, and big at th same time. That fish was moist, flaky and perfectly sesoned, ,y'all need to eat this! Full disclosure, I NEED this to stay on the menu!
Food was great as always, but our server wasn't very tentative and forgetful. She may have been new, but was otherwise very pleasant. Fantastic shrimp and grits (my personal favorite) but also, the cajun pasta and ravioli were amazing!
Who would have known a place like this has been in Boyd for years?! We've been missing out. Appetizer was the seafood dip with garlic bread. For entres, I got the blackened catfish with some buttery cream sauce (yum), wild rice, and vegetables. My other half got the gumbo bowl. We had to try the bread pudding for dessert. It was all so good! Staff was friendly, it's a smaller dining spot, but we didn't have a wait. I think it's worth the trip.!
I've been going here for years and the food is always phenomenal. The shrimp and grits are my personal favorite, but I've never tried anything here I didn't like. The staff is always wonderful and friendly! Recently they did a small remodel so the inside does look a bit different than it used to, but change is the only constant, so I guess that should be expected from time to time. All of their desserts are incredible, but the bread pudding and 2die4 are on another level.
Bowie, Texas seems like an odd place for a seafood restaurant but it is well worth every mile you drive to get there. There are no reservations so be prepared to wait...Pro tip...it is BYOB so bring some beer or wine to savor while you wait and while you eat... The restaurant is simply decorated but you are not there for the atmosphere. We were a group of 12 and EVERYTHING we had, which covered most of the menu was outstanding. Then there are the desserts. Save room because you don't want to miss them. Staff did an excellent job handling the 12 of us and everyone was super friendly. Definitely a small town feel! Will definitely be back! The photos might even say the food is worth linking your plate 😁!
Rather small restaurant in a store front in down town Boyd TX. Ample parking on the street and in neighboring parking lots. Restaurant is clean but has seen a lot of use. Bathrooms are clean but very small. Be prepared for a wait on busy nights! The waitstaff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The menu is limited but ample. The food.... OMG. Excellent. The vegetables were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Alfredo was very good. The Redfish Pontchartrain and crab stuffed shrimp were excellent. Prices were high for small town Texas but the good quality made the price very justifiable. Highly recommend. Worth a road trip.
This place is a 6+. I have lived in Texas for over 45 years, 41 in Houston. I was raised in Sulphur Louisiana and I have never had a good bowl of REAL gumbo ever. Until now... this is the best Gumbo west of the Sabine River. Real Gumbo is hot oil and flour and you burn it, kinda. This is my go to place for Gumbo. Maybe they could change their name to GoTo Gumbo...LOL. The Shrimp Creole is what I had and it was great. I wish they had some boudin, I miss that and is very hard to find good stuff. If you don't go here for Gumbo, then you are eating lesser gumbo.
Great food, but be prepared to wait. Our estimated wait of 30 min turned into right at an hour. Don't drink too much of that beverage you brought because the restroom is a1 holer and the place is always packed! Other than that, worth the drive, especially when you read a little about the place and the chef. Enjoy!
What a spot! Whoda thought little town of Boyd would have such a fun vibe restaurant. I ordered the red fish, shrimp and roting pasta. Was delicious. Other part of my group had the shrimp gumbo, it was just allright..... and other person had the shrimp boil. It was just ok too. Tried everyone's dishes. Dessert was the biggest let down. The meringue, strawberry and ice cream. The meringue was complete overkill. It was huge, sweet, crunch weird, didn't care for your at all. We even came home and talked about the bad choice for dessert. But that's OK, well come back soon. Decibel know you have to get there early and have a complete party to be seated. Good job go go gumbo!
Food is above average. Only concern was the gumbo good flavor but not much in it also a lot of shrimp tails but no shrimp. I had the gumbo a few years back and it was Excellent so I was really surprised at the cup I had during my recent visit. Service was very good. I recommend could have been a bad night for the gumbo.
Near perfection. We had a large party of 12 and were seated and served with excellence. Granted, it was a Thursday night but the level of service merits commendation on any day. Food was great and desserts made in-house were a huge hit. Had the Cole Slaw been seasoned better, 5 stars would have been a certainty.
The food ans atmosphere are fun. We are very looking term patrons, but the last time just wasn't as good. They have restructured the ownership and brought in a new chef/ business partner. Not sure if this is why the quality slipped. They may have just had a bad day. I would definitely go back to find out. We just love the place and have felt it was worth the drive to Boyd.
I used to LOVE gogo gumbo! This time it was... Ok. Nothing was bad but nothing was exceptional like it used to be. It's a very good place to go but very sub-par to what it used to be. Trying to serve more people has definitely lowered the quality.
Overall it was a great experience, the hush puppies were excellent, the crab cake was excellent, the coleslaw was excellent, the gogo salad was excellent, the shrimp and grits were good and the gumbo was disappointing. The blueberry upsidedown cake with homemade cinnamon ice cream was delicious.
Real good experience. First time going. Wait staff is friendly. Food was very tasty. Walkins only is a challenge for us... limited seating, but seems to be worth it.
It's nice that there's something like this in Boyd, and it's near-authentic,...but not quite authentic. On the other hand, don't let the atmosphere turn you off. Considering the building they're in, let's just say they found their niche, in both sense of the word. It's definitely a staple in our community and we love them!
The service was evidently a little too quick. The gumbo had good flavor but it was served lukewarm. Crab cakes had zero lump crab meat. My wife liked the flavor of the shrimp creole but it was served on a plate with little or no sauce. Just red looking shrimp. They did give her more of the sauce on request. I had to drive 45 minutes to get there. I doubt seriously if I will do that again.
Decent option for Cajun food; but great local restaurant for Boyd, TX, given its’ size. I like that the menu changes to explore new things. Service can change with person and interaction - we have been less than impressed on two occasions. I think there is more that can be done for the atmosphere to enhance the experience.
We ordered the seafood hush puppies and the seafood gumbo. The Lady working the counter got all my questions answered (my first time there) and was very helpful and prompt. The hush puppies were plentiful and tasty but the gumbo was lacking a bit on flavor. The "to go" container's for Gumbo are quite small for the price. I will definitely be back to try some other items but i will try to go when we can Dine Inn.
1st time to go eat there, and I begged my finance to take me, he wasn’t impressed when he had went prior. So we go and wait 1hour and 20 minutes to be sat, when they told us 40 minutes would be the wait. We finally got seated and the waiter didn’t know anything about the menu (just started and wasn’t trained on what he was selling) and was irritated I had a couple of questions.... I wanted to order the $34 plate but I could not substitute scallops, matter fact there were no substitutions. They make the menu to where it’s not accommodating for everyone and it is too pricey to be that way. I went for shrimp and lobster tail, but after my ordering experience, I was so upset I got a side salad (I was in tears). Left the restaurant still hungry and it was a terrible experience. Don’t waste your money!
The food was good but the service was awful. It doesn't matter how good the food is if service provided doesn't match, the entire experience will be poor. You must order as the menu states...no changes or deviations. Each time we asked the server a question she would respond with either "no, or I will check but probably not". To top it off and to ruin our experience, as soon as we received the check, Herman the hostess approached us and asked us to leave because there were others waiting to be seated. We chose to drive all the way out to Boyd to celebrate my best friends birthday because she loves cajun cuisine. And to be treated so poorly is the deciding factor that we will no longer give our business to GoGo Gumbo.
This afternoon, me and my family went to try this place out, comes out to be racist from the get-go we go in there. The host was a young man polite at first when he sit us down. But as we’re leaving and he’s witnessing what’s going on, he says his smart remarks, disrespectful, and rude ……when we at the table we were given us burnt bread as I proceeded to try to get a hold of our waitress. With out any success ..She just ignores us looking at us flipping her hair walking away, we were sitting there for about 30 minutes when we decided to just get up and leave. No one approached us not ones asking if everything was OK or if we needed anything or if anybody came to serve us or To get our order mind you in the meanwhile, all the other tables were getting attended mind you we were the only colored people in this restaurant so disappointed
Fist and foremost the hostess was rude! He indicated he knew what he was doing when I asked when we would be seated after waiting over 30 minutes and seeing 2 parties get seated before ours, we had six the other parties had 4 each, he basically refused to serve our party to maximize 2 extra seats! The food is average but due to the location it stands out( in FT Worth it would probably not survive). The prices are high for a location with a vibe of a diner. On a positive note, it’s BYOB.
Went here for the first time. The waitress was vry rude. I asked what would she suggested she said the gumbo was good and the shrimp and grits, the gumbo was vry salty I couldn't eat it, the shrimp was all rubbery and no flavor. With me never having authentic gumbo this place and turned me off of seafood
Passing through town decided to stop since it had high reviews. Unfortunately, the food was extremely salty and lacked taste. We were unable to eat it. The gumbo was more like black bean soup with 2 shrimp in it. Not gumbo at all! Our waitress was personable and friendly. Overall, this was an expensive bad experience. This is no good gumbo! Just disappointing.
Great food, which is why I am leaving any stars at all. If you order for take out, expect very little food. The gumbo we ordered was less than half full and there was more broth than meat and rice. Such a disappointment. I reached out to them and sent a picture of what we received but never received a reply back...
Me and my husband live not far from this restaurant and decided to try for the first time. The establishment is pretty on the inside and all of the staff are friendly and very welcoming. Our waiter was also very welcoming and friendly! But the food. Was HORRIBLE. My husband ended up not eating his food and just took it home. The gumbo is nothing like real Louisiana Cajun gumbo. It tasted bad and wasn’t good at all. The lobster Mac was just plain bad. The scallops were over cooked and the hush puppies had little to no taste. Won’t be coming back.
The old owners food tastes a lot better. We ordered the Bento box and the gumbo was watery and taste scorched the shrimp and grits were water and the shrimp had a weird chewy texture. The crab dip was missing all the original flavor. We used to come here a lot but seems this will be our last time. Great service though but the food needs some major adjustments.
Service an atmosphere was great, the staff is super nice., but the food isn’t the same as it was with the previous owners. Not the same menu or quality. It seemed like every plate had the same seasoning. Vibe and food isn't the same. Miss the original GoGoGumbo.
Had Jumbolya with sausage shrimp chicken. Chicken was over cooked sausage was over cooked. Had it to go no bread. Not impressed
