More than just BBQ! Big menu full of comfort foods. Fast friendly service.
I came through Brady on a business trip back home. It was late and I was craving a steak. I went in at 9pm on a Saturday and they closed at 10. I was worried about ordering too late, but the staff assured me it was fine. The green chili Mac and cheese was delicious. Fried okra was on point. The real winner for me was the 16oz ribeye. Usually that late into the day the best steaks have already been served, but that steak was the best restaurant prepared steak I have ever eaten. Juicy, little bit of crispy, just the right amount of seasoning, and great medium rare cook. Vanessa was my server and she rocked! I travel a lot, and I remember the restaurants and food that really stand out to me. My next trip through West Texas will have me remembering this steak and I will swing back through Brady, just for that.
Absolutely amazing, the music was fantastic my tea was perfect. My server told me that Jason cooked my chicken fried steak and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely do not wanna miss out on eat at Mac’s BBQ, Absolutely a 10 out of 10 place to eat at. Thank you for a wonderful meal, will be coming back!
I have never been disappointed by this place! I moved here 2 years ago, probably eat here 3 times a month. The brisket is consistently good, and the sides are always fresh. You can’t beat the old style home fries, and the loaded taters are just that- loaded. I just had the newly refined chicken fried steak, and it was probably the best I’ve eaten in 20 years. Mac’s is a must stop spot right on the main drag in good old Brady Texas!
Well butter my biscuits and call me STUFFED, if it wasn't the kindest soul on earth that served us up some grub at MACs! My hubby and I were draggin' after a ten-hour haul from El Paso, and we needed some stick-to-your-ribs food real bad. We got the ribs, brisket, turkey, and smoked chicken, and lemme tell ya, every bite was like a hug from your grandma. But as good as the food was, it was Tonya who made our day. That sweet southern drawl of hers could charm the boots off a cowboy, and she was just as passionate about that food as we were about eatin' it. She's a genuine treasure, and her kindness made that long trip feel a whole lot shorter. It's a rare thing to find service that good nowadays, and we'll be dreamin' of her sweet kind soul, and those ribs all the way back to Killeen.
I ordered 4 meats: pulled pork, brisket, turkey and sausage. All were excellent. My favorite way the turkey...... and pulled pork..... Okra was done just right, and the potato salad, well, we all have personal preferences on that, but it was very good! Definitely will come back when I'm in the area!
Stopped here to get some lunch during my 9hr roadtrip, brisket sandwich and some fries. Sandwich was delicious and especially their fries. Totally recommend getting food here, wasn't a long wait for my to-go order. The staff also loved my boa constrictor haha. Very glad I chose this restaurant instead of basic carryout
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The "Mac Daddy" burger is an absolute revelation. With its double patty generously topped with crispy bacon and spicy jalapeños, every bite is a burst of flavor and texture. It strikes the right balance between savory and spicy, making it an instant favorite. Truly a burger lover's dream come true! Highly recommended for anyone seeking a mouthwatering burger experience. 🍔🌶️.
We were driving through Brady around noon on a Friday and stopped here for lunch. The placed was packed! The dining room is seat yourself with table service. It took a few minutes for the waitress to take and bring our drink order, however they were really busy. Our food came out very quickly though and was great! We would definitely eat here again.
Passed this BBQ several times but it was always super busy. Now I know why! Great service, excellent smoked meats and delicious sides. The ribs are smoked to perfection. The sausage is spiced nicely and not overwhelmingly greasy-like some places I’ve been. And the fried okra is crispy and delicious! The green chili mac-and-cheese is sinfully creamy. Give them your money. You’ll be the winner in that trade.
Great service, fun atmosphere but for a BBQ place in TX we found the brisket too dry and the sausage didn't have a great smokey flavor. The ST Louis Ribs were good and had just the right pull. Sauce was good both spicy and regular. Good Coleslaw, Fresh Salad. The fries needed a bit more time in the fryer. Sierra was a sweetheart and very attentive and our sweet tea was just perfect.
Disappointed BBQ Experience in Brady, TX Stopped in during a road trip hoping for some solid Texas BBQ, but unfortunately, this spot missed the mark. The brisket was dry—lacking that juicy tenderness you expect from a good smokehouse. Even more disappointing was the BBQ sauce: too heavy on the vinegar and so watery it wouldn’t even cling to the meat. Instead of enhancing the flavor, it just ran off and left the brisket even more underwhelming. Mac's just didn't deliver today. On a positive the waitress was great and the pricing was reasonable, but we probably won't be back for a while.
Came to Mac’s about two years ago and loved the food. Today we drove 2 1/2 hours to come here again, and was disappointed. The appetizers are still awesome but the BBQ was disappointing and the BBQ sauce was runny with too much vinegar. Don’t think we will make this drive again.
The food tastes fantastic and the service was good, but the chicken fried steak is too small for the price. My friends had burgers and loved them. French fries and fried okras are top notch. Chicken fried steak tasted good, but the portion size was disappointing for the price, especially for the price relative to the burgers. It would be helpful if the menu listed. the size of the steak. TLDR; get the burgers but don't get the chicken fried steak.
In the past year, I’ve visited twice and have left disappointed both times. My family is from Brady, and though I now live in Houston, we visit a few times a year. The quality has declined quite a bit in recent years from what I knew of eating here for as long as I can remember. Everything feels thrown together and bland now. Our most recent batch of pinto beans was so undercooked and hard that it was inedible. We were satisfied that we weren’t made to pay for them, but it was still a disappointment. Chopped beef used to be much better — now it’s overly sauced with a stringy texture. Portions are also smaller than they used to be. Once our food was dropped off, we never saw our waitress again to even tell her about the beans, but the worker at the counter took care of it. Knowing that there are other dining options with more consistently great food around and loving our go-to bbq we can get much closer to home, we’ll probably be skipping Mac’s from now on when in town.
Ordered takeout for dinner on a Saturday night, the 2-meat plate. The cashier at the counter was very pleasant and it did not take long at all to fill my order. But the food was nothing special, particularly considering the price and the small quantity. The turkey was moist and had good flavor. The coleslaw was pretty much just dry. The "chipped beef", which is a mix of three other smoked meats, was okay but not really as good as I would have thought. The fried okra was as expected. I was not really a fan of the barbecue sauce. It was thin and vinegary.
Food was bad, customer service? Severely lacking. I ordered a frozen strawberry “macarita” it was melted, the normal lime flavored one, and my food was cold. Asked for a tip. For what? Two people ignoring me while I waited for my food? One finally rushing over in a huff, to run my card, leave my food on the counter as she ran away and left me to reach across the counter to get my own WRONG order? Used to love this place. What happened??
