We asked the owner of the ski hire shop Noleggio Sci di Nicola Corradi for a lunch recommendation. He was on the phone immediately and 15 minutes later a Land Rover showed and whisked us cross country to this wonderful restaurant. What better way to start our ski holiday? Everything; the food, the service, the ambience was special, first class. It was an adventure getting there and worth every moment. Hopefully the pictures and videos show off our wonderful experience.

We stumbled upon this cabin by mistake. We found it in the deep snow while walking and enjoying ourselves on the slopes of the magnificent Matterhorn. Hungry, we entered and it was love at first sight. A fairytale atmosphere, warmth, and wooden structures with adorable cats resting on the sofas. Drawn by the wonderful aroma and atmosphere, we stopped for lunch. A delicious and generous platter of cured meats and cheeses to start, exceptional polenta, then we tried the gnocchi with Blu di Aosta wine and speck (divine) and the braised beef in Nebbiolo (also excellent). Prices were in line with the area. For the descent, which wasn't particularly safe for us since we weren't equipped with suitable boots and clothing, we kindly asked the owner, Ottavio, to give us a lift in his legendary Range 4x4 to the road, and he agreed. What more can I say? A memory I'll never forget. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

My husband and I have stayed in this wonderful mountain cabin until today, where Olga and Ottavio, the truly friendly and welcoming owners, await you. We were welcomed and treated like family. The room service is excellent—they clean it every day. The breakfast is plentiful, and the various meals remind you of a mountain cabin: plentiful and delicious. The location, facing the Matterhorn and the various main trails, offers unique views, and it's just 3 minutes from the center of Cervinia. We can't wait to return for Christmas to spend it with you. I came here for the first time about four years ago to celebrate my sister's birthday. We weren't able to bring a cake, but the staff still made one for us on the spot, and it was delicious, of course. I came back, and it was exactly as I remembered it—even better! The dishes tell the story of the place, starting with the appetizer and ending with a soft dessert. The staff is incredibly kind and makes you feel right at home! I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it. A true gem in the mountains.

If you're looking for a place to stay while skiing in Cervinia, and you want to feel like mountaineer this is a great option for you. This is also a grait place to stay with kids (especially if you're cats lover). The place is also dogs friendly. We ordered only bed and breafasts (we assumed that we'll going to eat out), but decided to eat dinners as well. The food was great, diversed, and in very reasoable price. Although it doesn't offer ski-in ski-out, Otavio the owner takes his guests to and from Cervinia's main ski lifts, so for me this "texi" service is a complete compensation. Altough this is my first time there, it fealt to me that I met new friends there. Thank you very much Otavio, and Olga for your hospitality. It fealt like a home for me. I'll be gladly return to stay at your place in my next visit in the area.

An amazing genuine Italian meal. We were here on new years day, the restaurant was extremely busy however the staff were brilliant hosts. They were warm and spoke good English. The food and wine were delicious and the views are amazing if you are lucky enough to get a seat outside as we were. We would go back to this place in a heartbeat.

I went there the other day, 6th Sept and arrived somewhat wet as I had walked from Hotel Millfiori in Valtournenche. The first thing the owners did was to invite me to dry off my jacket and myself in front of their wood burner before having something to eat. I went there to see what the off piste run down to it is like, having declined to ski down with the Guide from Zermatt last December - the snow was not at all good. The inside is wood lined and the food there is fantastic, tasty and filling, having had a small anti pasti and then their homemade spiced tomato penne, all truly authentic mountain food and best of all, the hosts give true mountain hospitality. Hopefully I will ski down to Baita Layet off piste this December if the snow is deep enough ! Highly recommended !

Great people! Great atmosphere! I spent 4 days and felt home right away. Ottavio and Olga are the best. The experience begun at 02:00 AM when I was stuck in the snow with my rented car. 1st thing on the morning a “rescue team” was sent to help my car. Along my staying they took care of every little thing I needed including rides to Cervinia. Olga is one hell of a chef! Very tasty food, I ended up eating there 3 meals a day. Best recommendation award goes to… Baita Layet!

Baita montana a 5 min di auto da Cervinia, immersa nel verde, lontana dal caos. Locale molto accogliente, che ricrea quasi l'atmosfera di un rifugio. Il menù, scritto alla lavagna, offre diverse scelte tra piatti locali. Abbiamo preso un tagliere di salumi e formaggi e polenta valdostana da condividere, pappardelle alla selvaggina e scaloppine alla valdostana. Tutti i piatti erano molto buoni, in media quantità. Abbiamo poi concluso con due dolci veramente squisiti. Scelta dei vini limitata, servizio veloce ed efficiente. Conto nella media. Consigliatissimo.

Ci siamo trovati bene come sempre, solo qualche piccolo disservizio in più rispetto alle nostre precedenti esperienze al Layet. Mi sento di suggerire ai gestori di usare qualche piccola attenzione in più nei confronti dell'operato dello staff, per il resto... non vediamo l'ora di tornare!

Dopo una passeggiata non molto complicata (noi abbiamo allungato perché abbiamo visitato prima altri posti) e alla portata di tutti, anche di bambini e anziani, che si può fare anche in bici, (per chi ha problemi si arriva anche in auto) arriviamo alla Baita Layet che è un bar, un B&B, un ristorante e credo molto di più. Noi ci siamo stati per pranzo. Il posto non è enorme, e il sabato e la domenica non accettano prenotazioni, per cui dovete sapere che se arrivate ed è pieno dovete avere un po' di pazienza e aspettare il vostro turno. La pazienza però è ripagata perché mangerete con una vista eccezionale, immersi completamente nel verde, respirando il profumo della natura di questi luoghi incantevoli. Credetemi ne vale la pena. Il cibo è tipico valdostano, gustoso e ben cucinato, e i prezzi sono perfettente in linea con quelli della zona. Non vi aspettate menù interi a 10 euro, ma nemmeno prezzi enormi. I proprietari sono gentilissimi e super disponibili. Un posto consigliato e se posso, evitate la macchina perché la passeggiata è semplice ma vi permette di godervi la natura.

Porzioni di cibo non abbondanti e non di ottima qualità, lo stinco era grasso e basta…lo spezzatino sapeva di prezzemolo ed era carne semplice di manzo. Il vino un gusto strano… Diciamo che mi aspettavo di più…

Abbiamo mangiato presso la vostra baita nella giornata di oggi. Possiamo dire che il cibo è ok, ma è il rapporto qualità prezzo non esiste. Soprattutto spendere 28 euro per due tomini, DUE. Ci siam sentiti derubati. Insomma abbiamo preso una solata.

Ho provato solo il ristorante della baita ma non mi ha convinto. Purtroppo la polenta era molto asciutta e aveva pochissimo formaggio, sicuramente più light ma non quella cosa sfiziosa e appetitosa che mi aspettavo. Ho assaggiato anche le tagliatelle al cervo che aveva preso un’amica, meglio della mia polenta, ma comunque non indimenticabili. Ho mangiato meglio in altri posti a Cervinia onestamente. Carina la location e personale gentile e cordiale.

Given the high price of the dishes, the quality isn't the best. The view of the Matterhorn is beautiful, but you pay €2.50 for a paper placemat. But you know, mountain huts are very expensive restaurants these days. No receipt was issued, only a preliminary bill (pictured).

waited for quite a while, food was interesting, but not ooh la la, for that much money one would expect better. if it wasn't for the view of Matterhorn I wouldn't bother giving more than 1 star. But the view is worth it. Magnificent.

I only visited this lodge for lunch in August 2025, and to be honest, I was very disappointed. The dishes were very expensive for their quality; for example, the Valdostana polenta had a bitter taste, and I couldn't eat it. The staff was courteous, but unorganized and unprofessional, and the wait was very long. The outdoor terrace (chairs, tables, and umbrellas) left much to be desired. The only positive aspect was the truly beautiful view of the Matterhorn.

Se vi piace mangiare circondati da clienti che aspettano di turno, se vi piace che il cameriere vi porti il piatto successivo senza che abbiate finito quello che state mangiando … è il posto per voi . La location è splendida ma è l’unica cosa che si salva. Vi dicono che dovete aspettare poco ma in realtà hanno una decina di tavoli al massimo, quindi il tempo di attesa è lungo e fanno pressione affinché ve ne andiate, ovviamente con la gente che aspetta a due passi da voi che vi guarda mentre mangiate . Cibo mediocre: ho preso una crespella alla valdostana che non aveva niente in comune a quella della foto e giurerei che fosse di quelle che si comprano al supermercato . Infine, una nota per il servizio e il conto. Ci hanno messo nel tavolo peggiore, e il cameriere dopo averci servizio ha fatto un commento poco professionale su di me, a distanza di un metro . Mai mi è capitata nella vita tanta maleducazione. Ce ne siamo andati , il conto è molto salato rispetto alla qualità e quantità del cibo . Sconsigliatissimo.

Posto con vista sulle montagne circostanti, Cervino compreso. Il menù si trova scritto su una lavagna, senza i prezzi accanto alle portate disponibili. Il servizio non è adeguato. I piatti sono semplici e fin qui nulla di male, ma la vera sorpresa sta nel conto finale: assolutamente eccessivo per quanto offerto.

Siamo entrati alle 1430 per un caffè al bancone. Ci hanno indicato un cartello che informa i clienti che il servizio Bar è chiuso e non fanno servizio ristorante. La settimana di ferragosto. Ci hanno cacciato con la gentilezza che contraddistingue la maggior parte valdostani. Sto qui tutta la settimana. Ci sarei tornata a pranzo. Anche no.

We wanted to stop here today for lunch on our hike. The place looked lovely and the food we saw on the other tables looked great, too. We asked the waitress if we could sit at a table in the shade (we were here with our little daughter). She told us no and pointed to a small table in the sun. We sat down and waited for her to come back and get our order, but she always went around our table to other ( all Italian) guests, asked them if everything was fine and took new orders. When we got a hold of her and asked if we could order,she rushed passed us,said "Moment" and never came back. After 25 minutes it became obvious, she didn't want to serve us and we left with our then very hungry 1,5 year old. It was sad that our beautiful hike had to end this way.
