This is the cafe where I crafted the story of the "Banana Man" and that story ended up changing my life and landing me a spot on the Moth Radio hour as well as on the Cal Poly Radio talk show. It holds a special place in my heart I don't think I would have been able to write the "Banana Man" story if I had not been sitting in a quite corner of this place on a sunny Monday Morning. The bagels are to die for.
As a flight attendant, I love to explore coffee spots all over the world, and I absolutely love the San Luis Obispo layover. This was my first visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back—it’s already a favorite. The California charm and vibe are unbeatable, and I really appreciate the overall aesthetic. There's something special about sipping coffee from a real mug and taking the time to sit and enjoy it. My cappuccino was fantastic—perfectly crafted.
Great spot for a coffee and pastry to start your day. Bright and airy space. In nice weather the garage doors open up to let in fresh air. Staff were friendly.
Great coffee spot here in SLO. Cool building that is very hippie where plants are actually finding their way to burrow through the walls. Staff was friendly, but a little slow for a busy work day. Coffee was tasty, so I will be back.
The cutest coffee shop in SLO , next to a thrift store and wine bar. The seating and outdoor space is lovely - very California coastal and casual vibes. Latte art is on point, pastries look delicious and overall love the aesthetics. We stopped by the wine bar next door and went shopping at the thrift store which was a perfect way to spending our Sunday morning.
my favorite coffee shop in slo!! service is always lovely & the espresso and matcha is so good
If a quality pour over wins you over, you’re going to have a field day at this place, truly! My husband and I stopped in yesterday morning to pick up coffee and a pastry on our road trip further north to Pinnacles National Park. When we looked at their pour over menu it was so hard to choose just one, so went all in with a cup of their drip and blueberry rosemary scone while we were waited for our two pour overs: -COLOMBIA RICARDO SILVA -BRAZIL DATERRA We were blown away by the quality of all three cups, the barista nailed the pour over preparation, and the scone was the perfect blend of savory with a dash of sweetness and herbal notes that rounded out our excellent experience. Highly recommend Field Day! We will be back for sure next time we’re in SLO.
So excited for a very coffee forward shop here!! I'm originally from SLO but live out of state now and have been in coffee for 15 years. While they don't roast they bring in amazing roasters from all over and present the coffee in a beautiful manner by showcasing it and paying beautiful homage to it. Definitely one of the best cappuccino's I've ever had, great service, cute atmosphere and decor. Will definitely be back!!!
We were on our way to another coffee bar when my roommate saw this place and wanted to stop. The decor was beautiful and everything looked impeccably clean. The pastry case was full of pastries that would make any French chef proud and what a great variety of coffees! I ordered an iced coffee and the roomie had a standard drip. We had the Orange olive oil cake and a sesame bagel. Holy Lord! It was probably one of the best iced coffees I've ever had and I've had them everywhere. We were fighting over the last bites of bagel and everything was just perfect. The guy helping us at the counter was a rock star! I'm kicking myself for not getting a soft T shirt while we were there. Definitely stop here!
Laid back but coffee-serious in a converted old industrial/garage space. Friendly staff who know what they’re doing, had a well-pulled Gilbraltar. Rustic, functional interior with lots of natural light, indoor and outdoor seating, but raised large old garage doors blend the two spaces. Was visiting SLO two days, came here twice. Recommended!
Such a great vibe!!! Lex was super kind and quick on the coffee on the first….and second round 😬. First time here and will definitely be coming back! ***As you can see, that coffee had no chance***
One of our favorite coffee spots all of SLO proper, bar none. Their homemade sea salt maple syrup is one of the better latte syrups I've had 🔥 We also love heading here for their Bagel Sundays and for the nice selection of pastries they carry. Right up there with Scout as one of the best coffee shops in the county!

Checked out Field Day Coffee with a friend today. Space was utilized well as a coffee shop. Open and airy throughout the inside portion of the coffee shop. Ample outdoor seat which was a bonus, and just as the sun came out on our visit. Coffee was delicious and made to order correctly on the first time. I shared a Brown Butter cookie with my friend and it was Delicious. Pricing is fare and coffee tasted much better than other big brand coffee chains. Definitely recommend field day coffee if your visiting SLO. 👍
Drinks here have always been good on average but we get a variety in quality consistency. Sometimes the drink knocks your socks off and sometimes it’s just odd. The Gibraltar we ordered tasted a bit like tomato juice this last time. They do have a fun vibe and attached clothing store which is fun.
I got an oat cappuccino which was amazing! The space is tastefully designed and there is plenty of space and sitting area to bring your laptop and work. The wait was a bit longer than usual. Plenty of parking available.
Parking sucks - all spots in the small lot were taken when I pulled in and I never saw anyone pull out in the 30 minutes I was here, after having paid for parking down the street. The line was long and moved slow. The environment is hip, but loud. Don’t expect to get work done. The coffee is great - five stars.

Paper cups are never my preference when having coffee inside a coffee shop. I prefer real mugs & requested it. 1 was made in a real mug (thank you) and the other drink in a plastic to-go cup. Limited seating today & very limited electrical outlets for a laptop or cell phone. Hard wood seats = drink up & go. Friendly staff.

Atmosphere was awesome! Totally would come back if the coffee was good. They do make their own syrups, but my latte was a cup of milk. Barely drank half of it. Girl taking my order was extremely rude and cold after I asked a few questions. In other reviews, her attitude and lack of kindness has been described as well. Seems to be a reoccurring issue. Not thrilled and disappointed I spent $ here.

Decided to try after seeing lots of reviews but honestly coffee was subpar to others I tired over years. I am a huge fan of giving small business a try but basic coffee was less tasty. Good atmosphere, good sitting but when coffee is subpar I don’t like to return. Also when a cup of coffee is $4, you expect something decent or atleast equal to high quality coffee shops.
One of my favorite coffees in town. However, every time I go I feel discouraged to return with just how cold and unwelcoming the staff are. There are other coffee spots nearly as delicious with a way friendlier and more welcoming environment. For that reason, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a one time treat but I would never recommend making this your daily coffee routine. The energy is not a good start to your day! I know it’s not a fluke, as I’ve gone to the coffee shop 2-3 times a week for the last two months but have now started looking elsewhere for my morning coffee.

I previously went here weekly because of the coffee, and atmosphere, and would always recommend this coffee place to others. I’ve stopped supporting because of the service. It’s terrible. I called to express concerns over spoiled yogurt, that both my partner and I had reactions to, and was brushed off. Today, I took a visiting relative there upon their request and the cashier was rude to her for merely asking a question. I would have continued to support this business but don’t have patience for poor customer service.
I was super excited to come here and try this place but we did not have a good experience… I’m usually not a stickler working at a coffee shop myself but the food was mid at best and my coffee cup had lipstick on it so I was immediately put off and didn’t wanna keep drinking my coffee. The service was also… awkward?
