Avis sur Bourke Street Bakery Broadway
Went there during the Great Blizzard of 2026. Was assisted by Erin who was very kind, knowledgeable and courteous. Wanted something freshly made after shoveling, and remembered this great bakery nearby that definitely satisfied our tired and empty stomachs! Thank you for being open! Very tasty, and fresh! Flakey pastries, will be back!
Came here based on a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. I had the almond croissant and carrot cake with Chai tea and everything was delicious! The cake was moist and the croissant was flaky. The space was also clean and welcoming. To top it all off I received excellent service from Sofia who was at the til. Would definitely come back!
Great Australian and contemporary food from this nice bakery/cafe with a good amount of seating, with tons of great savory items like sausage rolls, savory pies and croissants and sandwiches to choose from. For sweets they have cookies, cake slices and muffins. They also have a nice collection of breads, hot and cold drinks. We got the Shakshuka danish (great), pork and fennel sausage (great), chickpea eggplant feta and mint roll (decent) and the chocolate sour cherry cookie (good). They also have frozen down versions of their customer favorites to taken home. They did not have the Australian iced coffee though.
Loved this place. Tried a couple of things and the absolute winner was the orange and almond cake with lemon. Very fresh flavors and the cake just melts in your mouth. Also tried the everything croissant, lamb almond harissa sausage roll, Nutella muffin, egg and feta danish and almond croissant. All the items were delicious, flaky ,crispy and very filling. Will surely be back for more.
A hidden Aussie bakery, conveniently situated in the garment district. They have a selection of freshly baked goods, if not mistaken Australian style. From croissant, muffins, tarts, salmon sandwich, drinks, some pantry items such as honey, chocolate sauce, pickled items, fresh eggs etc. I absolutely enjoyed the pear danish (when in season), BlueBerry & ricotta muffin, goat cheese rolls and the smoked salmon sandwich on their sourdough which is worth the $13. The sourdough is not a SanFrancisco style one, its a bit harder on the crust, but acceptable as part of a sandwich. I tried their turmeric sourdough sandwich. Their pastries are light and savory. It shows every item is made with care and thought. Most staff is pleasant but usually very busy. The taste, quality, price are all well paired. Loyalty points accrued here (9 points for a coffee 15 one for pastry). Quiet outdoor dinning. Come early otherwise you may miss out on their BB ricotta muffins or the salmon sandwich, this spot is known to locals and is well deserved of more attention as it is a hidden gem!
Bourke Street Bakery has been on my bucket list for a while and we were recommended by friends for their signature Croissant with beautiful layers. The decor is elegant and bright with cozy ambiance and plenty of both indoor & outdoor seating. They serve various pastries, bread and sandwiches, so we had a hard time making up our decisions. We had total 4 pastries: Almond Croissant, Chocolate Almond Croissant, Raspberry Custard Tart and Kouign Amann. It’s amazingly delicious and delicate, especially the croissant which was satisfying with creamy filling.
I’d been in search of truly great bakeries and am so happy to have found this gem. No compromises on the bread, the sourdough and baguette are top-notch, along with their more special delicacies like the sausage roll. And of course, you can measure bakeries by their ham & cheese, and theirs is solid! A bit more heavy tasting and meatier than your typical French style but still great. AND best part for me personally is that they serve wine throughout the day. What more can you want?
I love everything about this place - the decor, the service, the display cases - all of it!!!!! Their croissants, cakes, sausage rolls, meat pies, and their lamington cake are all insanely fresh and to die for. Even their almond cinnamon granola tastes homemade - crunchy, lightly sweetened, and super nutty! I recently enjoyed a slice of their orange almond cake and nearly passed out from how good it was!!! Still failing to try a rhubarb kouign amann since they only make 24 per day and run out by noon, but I can’t imagine them making anything even average. Their frozen foods, including their sourdough short rib lasagne and meat pies have all been delicious and have clear instructions for how to properly heat at home. Love this place and wish it were closer to me (though my bank account may say otherwise!).
Coffee was definitely better than average american coffee! Really happy to find this place in ny. Pastries are amazing. The service was interesting- team might be very new
I don’t like their pastries. I ordered a croissant last time but it was stale. The interior is very dark and the service is not very welcoming. However, their hot cross buns are fantastic. This Aussie chain bakery is known for rolling out hot cross buns every year. Their chocolate flavor is a standout this year. It is piped with chocolate icing and filled with chocolate chips. It really impresses me from all the other regular flavored hot cross buns. FYI this is also the most expensive hot cross bun I’ve gotten. $5.17 after tax.
I love their ✨cinnamon bun. It has the crispy and flaky texture like croissant outside and is soft inside. 🥐Plain croissant is also good (which I made a whipped cream filling by myself at home.) However, I wasn’t paying attention with the 💥baguette I got until went home. The edge was burned and is bitter and super hard...😢 🥕Ahhh and the carrot cake is good, but the bottom was a little bit burned. Also I like it without cream cheese tbn!
I have worked near this location for over a year and I do absolutely adore the sausage rolls. My real struggle with this bakery is they consistently sell out of their most popular items so regularly that it has become difficult to continue to try! I go between 9 and 10am once or twice a week for a pork sausage roll and it has truly been a 50/50 shot that they will have them. Very disappointing. The staff is cold and unwelcoming. However the glory of the sausage roll i do receive keeps me coming back. But maybe, please just figure it out?
The quiche, coffee and croissant were good. However one of their staff members, a bearded guy with glasses and a baseball cap, was rude. I was looking at the pastries and he seemed like he wanted me to hurry up, not a smile, no nothing, bad attitude overall, when I told him I was paying cash, he made an "are you kidding me?" face. It wasn't a pleasant interaction.
Very disappointing- came in for a sourdough baguette which was very good- that’s why I gave 4 stars for food. But the weakest most bitter drip coffee I’ve had in years - I tried to make it drinkable with more milk and sugar but it was beyond repair and after two sips I threw it out. Also ordered an almond croissant but received a chocolate one. I didn’t go back because the staff were not friendly and disinterested in engaging with me. Otherwise atmosphere was ok - no one else was in the shop despite it being a nice Sunday morning and other local places were very busy.
