Great BEC (mainly the bacon was amazing). Solid coffee but sooo much indoor and outdoor space for working. Not a ton of outlets but there are a few! Too loud inside to take a call but fine to work with headphones. WiFi struggles to reach outside in the back patio and the cell service is also tough so keep that in mind for working.
The food and proportions were amazing for brunch! We had excellent service and the environment was very pleasing. There wasn’t a long wait either. The restroom and outside dining place was very clean. I highly recommend the matcha rose latte! I think it was one of the most delicious matcha drinks I’ve had when I was in NYC. It wasn’t too sweet or too bland. I wouldn’t recommend the tacos (little guac and too bland), but the strawberry french toast and pasta were extremely good.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here. Convenient ordering system (except the personal information to be provided is a bit too much). The place was clean, good coffees/lattes, we even ordered extra food because we liked it that much. Thanks a lot! I’ve saved this location for when I’ll be back in New York one day.
This cafe is my go-to especially in my early years in NYC. It’s a very chilled and affordable spot that’s great for college students and recent grads. The food is quite good. I always order the salmon avocado waffle, because I love the shape they make, it’s like a flower and the taste is quite good!
Me and my husband went here to have breakfast. He took the nutella strawberry waffle and I took the Salmon brunch. It was so good, best breakfast ever. We'll definitely come again the next time we visit NYC. Nice also that the place weren't packed with people and it was a great presentation with flowers on the food!
My friend and I each got a matcha latte, mine was with rose. They are delicious! The regular was a little bitter but we added simple syrup and it was perfect. The rose has a slight pink tint to it. The cafe is so cute too, great lighting and lots of seating. Staff is friendly too! Thank you!
Is it selfish of me to hope that this undiscovered gem of a cafe stays undiscovered? I loved this place! Seems like a hole in the wall from the outside BUT when you step inside it's actually a very large space with an outdoor seating area at the back. Socially distanced seating. QR code ordering from your table. Clean good sized bathroom with code entry. The menu was pretty eclectic with vegetarian offerings as well regular menu items. Tea, coffee, juices, desserts. I'll definitely be back.
taro ➕ coffee = amazing What a creative way to enjoy the coffee. As a taro lover, I would say it is the best I have ever tried. It is sweeter than I thought and more like a milktea type drink. If you are looking for a typical coffee drink with something special, you could go for the matcha rose latte.
It is popular and contact free ordering so bring your phone. The coffee is a bit sour, so be sure to order it with hazelnut syrup. The taro one is perfect ( ofc with hazelnut syrup) The avocado egg bacon toast was superb; the salmon plate can use more dressing, a little bit dry at the end. The waffle was really good! Ice cream was nice and smooth. It’s good for a date but a bit pricy for an everyday brunch. 71$ for two of us. Two breakfast items and one dessert with two drinks.
Literally one of the best brunch places in Manhattan. Smoked salmon brunch set steals the show. Avocado is fresh, salmon is mouthwatering. I'm not normally a waffle fan but the nuttela banana strawberry waffle was out of this world, perfect level of crispyness in the waffle. Just so so good. Very reasonable prices. The mango banana smoothie was very refreshing. TONS of space to sit inside, surprising to find a place this big in Manhattan.
This is a very cool place and in very good location. Its a spacious cafe. They have outdoor seating aswell. Usually people work/ read spend time and are very calm. Today weathet was very very good so i prefered outdoor, except there were 2 annoying women who were shouting and laughing but ya its not a library so for peace to read a book its a hit or a miss. Indoor was cozy aswell. Staff was super friendly. Worth the hype. I got rose latte and i liked it.
Not sure why I haven't rated Outro before, but it's one of my favorite cafes in NYC. The drinks are incredible and the food is good quality. My favorite is the matcha cocoa (hot). Service is fine. Sometimes, it can get overcrowded at peak times. I usually stop there at the end of the day during the week, but they do have a pleasant backyard area for warmer months months.
I've been getting their taro coffee for years and it's one of my all time favorite drinks. I don't even love drinking coffee - it's that good! They have great food to boot! The salmon platter is amazinggg. There’s a good amount of seating inside and on good weather days there’s also a back patio for outdoor seating too. I love taking my tourist friends here - fun vibes, great food, amazing location!! Also great spot to park yourself and wfh. I’ve done it myself multiple times.
5/31/2025: Service is truly spectacular! The shorter Asian server (I unfortunately didn't get her name) was super busy but still found time to help me and made sure I got another Thai Tea Outro (very yummy by the way) after I spilled mine. Note for anyone looking to use the wifi and also sit outside- you must first connect to the wifi inside the cafe on your device before going outside. -- 1/2025: Matcha rose was beautiful and the perfect sweetness. There were open seats at 4pm on a Monday. Service was fine for the end of the workday. However, the ambiance leaves room for improvement, so I’m not sure this will become a go-to spot. The music was inconsistent and pretty loud (think chain boba store playlist mixed with random rock songs) and the store itself is on a lower level, so the sunlight from the street doesn’t brighten the space much. Bathroom and wifi were great
The coffee was delicious, I purchased an iced latte with almond milk, I forgot to add sweeteners but I couldn’t even notice because the espresso has a naturally sweet and smooth flavor. The amount of seating here is amazing, somewhat hard to find a seat but it’s for a reason! Because this place is amazing.
Went for the first time today and I see myself coming often for coffee and work. The staff was really welcoming and sweet when I was asking questions since it was my first time. I got a flat white with almond milk that was super good. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a chill space for drinks and to get work done or read a book. They even have an outdoor space!
Amazing cafe. The latte are your usual prices for coffee, but they have quite large portions and the art is just beautiful. I got the rose latte, which was delicious, but the there are so many options, like lavender, matcha, golden milk (turmeric) etc. love the vibes and there are a lot of seats to sit down. It gets hot in the summer so outdoor seating isn’t ideal (but it’s also lovely so worth checking out!). Gets quite busy and loud so not the best for reading a book , but pop some headphones in and it’s a great place to study!
It must be our lucky day because there was no wait. Well, we came here at 2 PM. Lol. They promptly checked our vaccination cards and ID and we found an indoor seat. The outdoor seating area is really cute. The food was pretty good but the coffee was as expected. The service was quite good too. I think my only qualm is the price but this is new york...
Came here during a brunch and matcha craving, and it was surprisingly pack for 2pm on a Saturday. Lovely place with an outdoor patio seating area. As we came, we simply scanned the QR code and ordered on our phones, and the food would be brought to us. We ordered the chicken quesadilla (crunchy, flavorful and the chicken was well seasoned and moist), brioche french toast (filling, refreshing fruit, a combination of tangy sweet and creamy), and maple bacon & egg waffle (a hearty meal for those that love their protein; my brother added roasted tomatoes on his for the added juiciness). All of which was really good and flavorful. No complaints there. What I was really excited about was the matcha hot chocolate. Of all the matcha creations, this was one I never heard of. I ordered the matcha hot chocolate with soy milk. Highly recommend! The matcha masks the rich chocolate flavor and the soy milk made it more creamier, and also brings out both flavors of the matcha and chocolate than regular milk. My brother ordered the matcha bomb (which is a combination of both matcha and espresso, so double the caffeine). This is also a highly recommended drink, as my brother was pretty much wired the rest of the day. With regards to the atmosphere, I would say this is definitely a places college students would hang out and study. It does get pretty busy here, so I would suggest coming early. I would say this places would be considered average Manhattan prices (around $15 a meal), but they have really good drinks, a friendly staff, and very accommodating.
This place is so chic, fairly priced, a beautiful coffee shop aesthetic with a back patio to study/work in. The staff are so friendly and can accommodate even a picky eater. I ordered the lavender latte (delicious, not overly sweet) and honey cinnamon waffle with salmon on the side, BEAUTIFULLY presented. My friend had the strawberry tiramisu waffle with strawberry ice cream on top. A great, hearty breakfast/ brunch meal. I don't believe they had alcoholic drinks, but they did have faux spritzers and refreshers.
This review is long overdue, but better late than never. I've never seen a restaurant turn around so quickly and so much for the better after a bad experience. We were rewarded with 50% more coupon than our original meal, and we enjoyed our second experience to no end, earning the place five stars. One warning - it's self service, and you need to come in with that in mind. We came in for breakfast, my wife tried the salmon eggs Benedict and I tried the chicken salad. We were both very happy with the our choices, the ingredients were fresh and the dishes well prepared and visually pleasing. I learnt to specifically ask for my coffee with my food so that dishes are not served in intervals and that made a great difference. Everyone was very eager to please and though self-service, the service is good and everyone is pleasant. Definitely recommend to try if you're in the area. We will go back there for breakfast.
Classic New York cheesecake & black coffee. Also classic New York: a meet-and-greet held here on the afternoon of 3/28/25 by the burgeoning pop star Zoe Ko. Unfortunately, I had nothing to add to the conversation between Zoe & her as-of-yet small core of diehard fans, so I didn't even get to take a creepy, cordial, or casual picture of her perfectly alluring visage, nor did I get her autograph on my snarky sign or my bright orange Mets cap. Lame story; sorry to waste your time.
I wish I could give this place a 4.5 star. They have food, deserts, brunch all day, pastries and lots of coffee. I had the cinnamon, banana waffle dish and it was delicious. It totally hit the spot and it was reasonably priced. The only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is because it has a very strong smell when you enter. But I would go back for their waffles.
This is a perfect place to come and get some work done while enjoying a variety choice of drinks and food. They have all kinds of coffee drinks, tea drinkers, smoothies, all day “breakkie”, pasta (!!). Wifi+outlets and nice seatings. Only thing I would comment about is the restroom, it needs more care throughout the day, otherwise this place would be 10/10
One of my go-to meeting spots for coffee/tea in the summer. Plenty of seating and good outdoor space that’s fairly shaded. Indoors can get a little loud which can make it tough for meeting or remote work. Food is usually delicious. Once I got a moldy scone from here so have stayed clear of the baked goods since.
Came here on a Saturday around noon. It was really busy. We ordered a waffle and an omelette and some coffee drinks (a cold brew and the matcha outro). The waffle came quickly, but the omelette took a really long time. The place was noisy and very full, and the food/drinks were decent but not super special. I also really appreciate the efficient mobile ordering system.
This cafe has both an indoor and outdoor dining area. Every table is numbered and has its own corresponding QR code menu to order from. The food portions were large and quite fulfilling. However, the drinks had quite a lot of ice in them. This cafe’s atmosphere is nice and is a great spot to hang out and catch up with friends or to get some work done on your laptop. But, the restroom was a bit dirty and the toilet had a weak, low pressure flush.
I came here for a late brunch on a Saturday and really enjoyed the experience. The space is bigger than it looks from the outside, with plenty of seating and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It was busy but not overwhelming, and we were seated within about 10 minutes. I ordered the avocado toast and a lavender latte. The toast was fresh, well-seasoned, and nicely plated, and the lavender latte was one of the better ones I’ve had, floral without being overly sweet. My friend got a waffle dish and a matcha rose latte, both of which looked great and tasted good. Service was friendly and patient, even during the brunch rush. Noise level was moderate, easy to talk without raising your voice. Overall, a great spot for brunch or coffee near Union Square.
Kind service from the person running the register, and a solid matcha with good latte art, but the music is too loud and completely random. For me, ambiance is the top factor as to whether I'll return to a shop, and despite the ample space, the music makes this place a non-starter for me. Do not need to feel like I'm at a tween slumber party.
Came here for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The taro coffee was unique and tasty, definitely a highlight. The ordering system is all through QR codes at the table, so there isn’t much direct service, but everything came out smoothly. Cozy spot with good vibes — worth checking out if you’re in the area. A lot of seats are available both indoor and outdoor.
Edit: bumping from 3 stars to 4 stars because they were sweet and remade my drink, iced this time, since they explained their oat milk doesn't steam/foam well. Drinks: Got a rose matcha latte with oatmilk. I appreciate the large size and the effort in the design, but the matcha quality is lacking and the latte overall was watery--maybe it was the oatmilk they used? Honestly one of the most disappointing matcha lattes I've ever tried, especially at $9. If you don't LOVE matcha, then feel free to listen to the other reviewers who claim this is great. Service: it's standard. Nothing standout. They yell your name out when your order is ready and you bring it to your table yourself. Ambiance: Vibes here were good with music and warm low lighting inside, and with no music but natural light and clean air outside.
Cozy space with nice service and decent food. There was a bit of a waiting time to get a table (on a Sunday) mostly because nearly all tables had people working on their laptops. I think this is usually fine for weekdays but for weekends it’s not really in their favour to allow that. No complaints otherwise. I had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and it was nice!
I really liked the strawberry matcha latte! There was like strawberry puree at the bottom and the fruity flavor worked super well with the matcha. But 3 stars because the Veggie Benedict was not great. The English muffin was so flat I thought it was flatbread, so chewy I was like sawing at it, and the egg was overcooked. The salad was also imo drenched with dressing, although I like my salad dressing super light. Would consider coming back for drinks but not for brunch
Great spot near union square to grab a quick bite and do some work. Food was decent and the outdoor space was very cozy with the nice weather.
So this is trip advisor recommended and so beware the tourist trap..not cheap The sandwiches—we had the greenich adding egg whites and turkey bacon made it $13.50 and a fresh orange juice at $6.00. So far so good. You have to order using the scan code and so we had included two hot teas $4.50 each and steamed milk for an additional charge. The tea came out with the water luke warm with the milk in it. I thought I would request another with some hot water and milk on the side. I was promptly told they could not do it—against the policy. So we had to leave not having any tea and having paid $10 for two cups plus milk. I leave you to decide your experience. In a city of infinite choices mine could certainly have been better….
Maybe it was just what I ordered (matcha latte and avocado toast) but both were mid. It felt like I could make both items at home and better. It was also pretty pricey (about $23) so it didn’t feel worth it.
It wasn’t busy when we visited. Many empty seats. and it wasn’t even close to the closing time yet but the waitress kept coming over checking in and taking our cups away while we were obviously still sitting there talking, enjoying our time. I understand taking away the mugs for washing but why the plastic ones too in such a timely manner? We were interrupted 5 times in total during the whole experience.
Place is nice and cozy but the service and employees are awful, they only want you to eat fast and leave. Be careful with what you order since the avo smash came with chili flakes though the menu didn’t clarify it! Price is ok but considering the whole experience, I’d only go back for the coffee since it was the only good thing of the brunch.
Arrived 10:05 when just opened, place the order in 10:15, which is the first order, and waited till 10:40 without the the latte coming. Had to check with the waitress, and it appears they totally forgot to make my order. It finally came at 10:50. Imagine how would you feel if you keep waiting for another hour and nothing is coming. Matcha latte is good. Waffle and pancake are on average, but doesn’t match the menu picture. Didn’t finish.
Went today for breakfast for the first time what we found was a disappointing meal and atmosphere. We ordered at the counter (which they got wrong), and were told they would bring the food to our table, they did not, we had to go to the counter to pick it up. After eating, and not much talking because the table next to us was 6" away, we had to bus our own table. I’m a New Yorker so I understand space is at a premium but quality of food and service does not have to be. Just average food, not worth the price.
I feel like the salmon platter is a scam. It is essentially a very basic garden salad with one egg, a few scattered mushrooms and two strips of smoked salmon. For $19, I don’t expect to have 3/4 of my plate packed with a salad, if I ordered a platter. If I wanted a salad I would’ve ordered one. The food was okay but nothing wowed me. Won’t be back. Do better.
friend got the salmon benedict and was like "something tastes off about this", i ended up eating the rest and we both got got mildly sick later in the day
Wait 30min for our food. The young man waiter was in bad mood I guess. He literally drop our food on table and leave. The food and drink are heavily pigmented in un unnecessary way. The taro coffee just okay. But for one thing, taro is plant mostly so the purple comes from purple yam powder, and the other thing is that taro cream taste like cheap melted taro ice cream.
