Avis sur A-Pou’s Taste Brooklyn
Awesome cheap Taiwanese food. Loved the fried chicken and beef noodle soup especially. Great homey vibes. They take Venmo and cash for a discount compared to credit. Place can get busy quick depending on the time. I have some questions about hygiene but quality and quantity of food for price is legit.
Very affordable place with a good vibe very popular there were tons of people eating in and taking out. The menu had a lot of different things that all sound delicious depending on the mood. I got 5 potsticker+lomein special for $8 including a milk tea and left full. The lady running the place seemed nice and relaxed handling the bustling spot no problem.
We were looking for authentic, delicious, and fairly priced platters for our Chinese New Year celebration and found A-Pou. A-Pou not only helped us put together the menu, but she included extra special goodies like sesame balls / egg rolls / fortune cookies. Even though Sunday was her day off, she still prepared and delivered the platters to our apartment which was so appreciated. All of our guests RAVED about the food (especially the potstickers, basil chicken, and lo mein). A-Pou was also amazing to work with from beginning to end - she’s just the sweetest lady. Highly encourage paying her restaurant a visit and calling her if you have catering needs!
considering how cheap this place is, id recommend anyone in the area to visit this. the broth of the noodles was really delicious and not oily, the beef was a little less tender than id like but it's hard to complain for $10. the prawn dumplings were genuinely SO GOOD, I regret not getting 10. would really recommend. their homemade chilli oil is also really really tasty. the people who work there are super friendly and nice. i can't wait to return to try more of the menu!
Favorite restaurant in this part of town. The ladies that run it are absolutely wonderful and most kind. Dumplings are great, so are the noodles, beef and the mountains of fortune cookies. The place is cozy and welcoming. We’ll be back soon.
Stumbling upon this lowkey Asian eatery felt like uncovering a time capsule of flavor. No Instagram polish here—just a steamy kitchen dishing out dumplings that arrive scalding hot, their thin skins yielding to juicy pork or veggie centers punched up with ginger and garlic. Each bite transports you to grandma’s table, minus the jet lag. Noodle bowls steal the show: hand-pulled strands slicked in umami-packed broths or fiery stir-fries, slurped amid the hum of chopsticks and quiet chatter. Rice plates anchor the menu—fluffy jasmine grains mingling with tender meats, crisp veg, and sauces simmered to glossy depth. It’s comfort elevated by decades of mastery. The charm? Faded photos on walls, the owner nodding hellos, unchanged prices that let you linger. Perfect for busy parents craving real food fast—my picky 4-year-old devoured it. Skip the hype; this is where locals feast.
I’d walked by A-Pou’s Taste before and always meant to stop in—so glad I finally did this year! As someone Taiwanese and often homesick for the flavors of home, I was truly comforted by their well-prepared, affordable dishes. Doris, the owner, is incredibly warm and sweet—her hospitality makes the experience even more special. A-Pou’s Taste also joined the street festival I produced in Chinatown in August 2025, and they were hands-down the most popular vendor. Their line stretched half a block, and it was well deserved. Highly recommend to anyone craving a genuine taste of Taiwanese cuisine.
Highly recommend! A Pou’s catered my daughter’s 100 day celebration and helped to curate the perfect menu (see attached photo). Everyone who attended raved about the food! The entire catering process was so smooth and personalized. Cannot thank this team enough for making my daughter’s special day so memorable.
I had had this place on my to-go list for a long time, but never managed to be in this area. As soon as ! saw the old lady behind the counter I smiled, nothing like a Taiwanese grandma to make delicious food. I saw the things people were eating and decided to go with the classic beef noodle soup and potstickers. They have an amazing veggie potsticker with all sorts of veggies inside, they must have been some of the best ones I have had around town. They also have butterfly pea tea!!! Delishhhh!!! A family of 3 came in and said hi to A-Pou, and their interaction made my afternoon.
Absolutely insane. Ambiance is killer, everything everywhere. Real calm sometimes..cozy! Extremely fast service. Extremely considerate service. So extremely affordable! Braised pork is perfect, lunch special comes with rice a lil greens and egg. I love the pumpkin potsticker, they got a Carribbean curry flavor! Housemate drinks are a dollar, and there's plenty of options.
Outstanding restaurant with cute little tables, very friendly service, and tasty food. Especially the fried chicken, the dumplings, and the General Tso‘s Chicken were amazing. Prices are super fair - so get yourself a good portion - or two! Thank you again for the poncho - it was raining a lot when we left... And thanks for two new songs in my playlist. The music was spectacular!
Hidden gem in east Williamsburg serving authentic Taiwanese dishes along with some local favorite Chinese dishes as well. Generous portion at a reasonable price, the aunties there are very sweet and wholesome! Super friendly service. Ordered 2 entrees, appetizer, and dumplings with milk tea - all about $40ish plus tip.
How do I never knew or came here before? I really need to leave the house more. The owner, "a-pou" (that means, grandmother [mother's side]) is the cutest and funniest lady. She's also at least trilingual in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. The food was amazing. You can find me here every day from now on.
That treasure you come across on the road less traveled. What a great food memory. Thanks for the delish well priced meal and happiness. Karaoke on TV, Taiwanese Mama's cooking on the table, homemade chilli spice on the side. Come with good friends to capture more of the menu. Crunchy fried chicken bites, three spice chicken over rice, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, Taiwan style rice noodle, solid pot stickers. The list goes on!! Every bite!
The sweetest owners, the most comfortable homey setting, and probably the most delicious food outside of Chinatown while still being affordable; I cannot recommend this place enough. Got the beef noodle soup and milk tea, absolutely delicious. This restaurant is largely out of my way but expect me back!
This is literally the most authentic and amazing restaurant in Brooklyn! Be prepared to leave full of love and happiness, no seriously! Everything is delicious and affordably priced and I would 1000% go out of my way to visit this restaurant after coming here. Visiting this restaurant somehow gives you that amazing feeling of being home after a long time. The owner is a caring and sweet Taiwanese grandma and after eating at this restaurant I left feeling full of food and love. I didn’t even know it was possible to leave a restaurant feeling loved. This is no normal restaurant, it’s a god damn national treasure! 🥺😭
I tried this place on the last day of my short NY trip just because I suddenly craved some pork belly dish. I ordered the Taiwanese braised pork over rice and the 5-piece Japanese vegetable potstickers, all for just $13.50! The braised pork was tender and well-seasoned—I just wished there had been more veggies and a bit less rice. The potstickers were a little bland on their own but tasted much better with chili oil and soy sauce. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit, especially for the price.
For great Taiwanese food at a reasonable price in bushwick, this is the spot. A-pou (aka grandma’s) taste is worth a visit if you’re in the area. She usually is running around taking orders and greeting guest. The lu-rou rice is a must get for those who love fatty pork, and the beef noodle soup does not disappoint. The popcorn chicken was also very flavorful, and white pepper is on the side which I feel you got to add for more enhanced flavors. When order she said we should order 3 instead of 4 items so we don’t waste, which was very true. The sizes are reasonable based on price. A milk tea or lemonade for $1 is also a steal, but the milk tea does taste pretty authentic to me. If I am in the area will definitely go back. Cash only but they do Zelle & Venmo!
Stumbled upon this neighborhood favorite with tables filled and local workers stopping in and out for takeout on a weekday. The family owned joint offers simple, traditional Taiwanese dishes. The most popular being their dumplings and noodle soups. I opted to try their vegan options, they had a couple choices for each category. The Japanese veggie dumplings are fantastic, flavorful and light. The pumpkins are more heavy, filled with a cumin pumpkin paste. They can also do a mix and match of both! I also tried the mustard vegetable noodle soup that had pickled veggies and wide thin knife cut noods. The broth is water based and mild with lots of veggies. I’d recommend getting the traditional beef noodle soup for more depth of flavor if you can have meat. Their chili oil is amazing and aromatic, made with lots of spices like star anise, cinnamon and bay leaf—it is really special and adds a lot more than spice to the items. As a Taiwanese American, I was nostalgic of my visits to Taiwan and the good food in a simple setting really is what you’d find in the country. Highly recommend this no frills Taiwanese eatery if you’re stopping through Bushwick!
Crab Rangoon surprisingly great; All potstickers, I like the shrimp the most; chicken to my taste, can completely no need to order; the sweet soy sauce is a must add on to every bite. Kimchi beef, can also ignore, I taste fermented spicyness but definitely not kimchi. If I didn’t watch the Eater YouTube video, I won’t be coming here; It’s a good spot for nearbyers to quickly grab a lunch; But very seriously, it’s okay taste & portion; wrapper is thin, but no texture when chewing, it’s not wonton, u know? I sat at my table for a whole hour to get what I ordered; so if u order take out, go ahead, and it saves u time as they prioritize taking out, clearly.
