I’ve been here already like 10 times, and each visit just confirms how solid this place is. The food is authentic, flavorful, and always satisfying. The lamb gyro is my personal favorite—juicy, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft, warm bread. Their chicken shish kebab and red lentil soup are also must-tries. The atmosphere is casual but welcoming, perfect whether you’re dining in or grabbing something late at night (they’re open 24/7!). The staff is friendly and attentive—makes you feel like you’re eating at a family-run place where they actually care about the food and the customer. Portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes fresh. I’ve never left hungry, and I always leave happy. If you’re in Brooklyn and craving Turkish or Mediterranean food, Ankara is absolutely worth a visit.

I went 7 am! I ordered lentil soup and lamp soup, hummus and falafel with rice and salad. The portion is big! I couldn't finish all. Great flavor!

Why there are so many bad reviews? Delicious lamb shish kebab! Amazing Turkish salad on the side with red cabbage! Rice is so delicious! Head and shoulders above Memo shish kebab restaurant, even nothing to compare. Have been buying food to go there within a few years and I didn’t notice any difference in quality. Still is my favorite!

One of the best Turkish lamb gyro sandwich in all of New York. The meat was very flavorful and fresh even though we went at 1 am. The bread was quality, the sauce was good the prices were very fair. First time coming and definitely not my last!

The restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Turkish cuisine. The restaurant is open 24 hours and the food is halal. Tables are available for dining in but there are no servers. Soups, salads, cold and hot appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and beverages are available. I ordered the babaganoush appetizer which was a generous portion. The small chicken gyro was well-prepared. The small kofte kebab consisted of Turkish-style lamb and beef meatballs with some spices. The meatballs are shaped like small patties and tasted very good.

I don't like to drink Turkish coffee in paper cups, but they don't have any ceramic cups. It was very disappointing for me. But I will give them some chances in the future to change my mind. 😉 By the way, it was very spacious inside, and I like big windows and beautiful pictures on the walls

*****This place charges a 5% credit card surcharge fee, I’m still trying to do research if that’s even legal in NYC! Bring cash to avoid this fee!***** This spot is on the pricier side for a self serve restaurant on Kings highway, food is good but not consistent. The chops today were tender, that I’ll be honest. The cashiers I’ve encountered are not friendly but Notice either, you will not feel warm and welcomed, that is true from the other reviews here. Another mixed feeling spot.

Ankara One sits on a loud, restless stretch of Kings Highway where Midwood bleeds into Homecrest, the culinary equivalent of an international transit lounge. Russian bakeries, Chinese takeout joints, kosher pizza spots, halal butchers. Everyone passing through, everyone hungry, nobody slowing down for long. And right there on the corner is Ankara One, announcing itself not subtly but honestly. This is a kebab shop. No confusion. No identity crisis. Inside, the first thing you notice are the spits. Two towering columns of meat rotating with hypnotic patience. One lamb, one chicken. Turning slowly under heat and gravity, dripping promise. This is usually where magic happens. This is where flavor is born through time, fat, and fire. The dining room is surprisingly large, though you quickly realize most of the food leaves in plastic bags clutched by people already halfway out the door. This is a neighborhood refueling station. Eat fast, move on, back to life. I ordered a lamb gyro, nothing fancy. When a place hangs its reputation on meat, you start with the basics. The plate arrived quickly, hot enough to fog my glasses. First bite. And… fine. Not bad. Not offensive. Just unexpectedly quiet. The lamb had structure, chew, competence. But the deep, smoky punch you expect from meat that has spent hours surrendering itself to the spit never quite showed up. Somewhere between rotation and serving, the soul of the thing seemed to have taken the afternoon off. So I sat there, chewing, watching Kings Highway roll by. Delivery scooters weaving through traffic. Old men arguing politics. Kids glued to phones. Brooklyn doing what Brooklyn always does, loudly and without apology. Ankara One feeds you. Efficiently. Reliably. Your hunger disappears on schedule. But if you walk in hoping for transport, for that fleeting moment where a bite of food drops you straight into the streets of Ankara itself, you may leave feeling like your stomach made the trip while the rest of you stayed behind.

This is what you get for mixed grill. Very less kebab, a lot of gyro. Gyro was burnt. Chicken gyro dry and greasy at the same time. It was not a pleasant experience. Unnecessarily expensive for the food you’re getting. Hope they change recipes. This didn’t taste good.

Never eating at this place again! Cashier is so rude, and unprofessional. They always forget my drink when I order pickup, and hang up the phone when you get upset with them. They do not know how to treat their customers with respect. Rice is uncooked half the time too. I would not recommend anyone to eat at this place!

Their food is incredibly oily specially the wraps, I don’t understand why they’re putting so much fat in their sandwiches, it’s literally dripping oil. I don’t think I can continue to eat from here

The food was okay at best, but the service was terrible. The servers forgot my sauces and my drink because they were too busy on their phones. If I could give the service a zero, I would. What intrigues me the most is the language barrier in a Turkish restaurant, the cashiers don’t know anything about the menu when I ask for a side. Ankara #2 was 4/5. This one is horrible with service and cooking.

Don’t “Don’t go to this restaurant. The Turkish guy working there is mad disrespectful. I was on the phone ordering my food, he told me chicken shish is $16.95 plus tax for a large — which I didn’t mind. But then he tried to charge me over $25. When my friend went to pick it up, the guy said ‘pay or leave the food, I don’t care.’ I told him he was stupid, and he said the same back and tried to get me to come inside like he wanted to fight. These owners are hiring anyone these days — no professionalism at all. Their rating is 3 for a reason. I’m so mad today.”go there Saturday, November 22 the

I recently visited this Turkish cuisine restaurant and had a highly disappointing experience. 😡👎 From the start, the cashier was extremely rude and unwelcoming, creating a negative atmosphere. In stark contrast, the lady wearing a hijab was very polite and helpful, which was the only positive aspect of my visit. 🙏💖 The food was a major letdown. Despite being a fan of Turkish cuisine, the dishes served were dry and lacked flavor. 😞 The Adana was so dry that it was nearly inedible—I can’t imagine how it ended up in such a state. The texture was unappealing, and the overall meal was difficult to enjoy. The soup was particularly bad; it was watery and had an awful taste. 💧🤢 The tripe in the soup was also unappetizing. The lack of seasoning and proper preparation was evident, making the food feel poorly made. 🍲❌ To make matters worse, I was unable to return the food for a refund, as the restaurant did not accept it. 💸🚫 Given the high prices, which are comparable to those in a fancy Turkish restaurant, the quality of the food was far from acceptable. 💰😠 The high prices only exacerbated the disappointment of the poor dining experience. Overall, my visit was highly unsatisfactory. The rude service and subpar food, coupled with the inability to address the issues through a refund, made for a very frustrating experience. 😤👎 I would not recommend this place to others, especially considering the high prices and lack of quality. Improvements in both customer service and food quality are urgently needed. 🚫🍽️💯
