Wow. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and this went above and beyond my expectations. I eat a lot of Szechuan food so my standards are pretty high and I’d have to say that this place has shot up to the near top of my list. Probably the best take on Chungking style fried chicken I’ve had yet and the sliced fish stew dish was unreal. We also had the woodear mushroom salad and pork soup dumplings as starters. Everything was packed with flavor but I’d have to say that fish dish was the highlight. Cannot wait to order that again. On top of the amazing food (not to mention the incredible cocktails), the service was impeccable , and the live jazz was sublime; a very pleasant surprise. A 10/10 experience. Would love to see their take on 3-pepper chicken on the menu someday 😉 but needless to say, I’ll be back soon.
My friends and I had a great time dining at Antidote! I liked all the dishes we ordered, and everyone had different favorite items. I would definitely go back to try the rest of their menu! Definitely a loud restaurant but overall enjoyable
Antidote is, without exaggeration, my favorite restaurant in all of New York City. Every time I go, I leave wondering why I don’t eat there more often. The food is exceptional in a way that feels both thoughtful and effortless. Every dish is balanced, vibrant, and deeply satisfying, the kind of cooking where you can tell someone in the kitchen really cares about flavor, texture, and detail. The menu manages to feel creative without being pretentious, and every plate that comes out makes you want to order two more things just to see what else they’re capable of. (By now I have tried the majority if their menu) The atmosphere hits that rare sweet spot that so many restaurants try to achieve but rarely do: warm, stylish, and energetic without feeling chaotic. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a long dinner with friends as it does for a date or a spontaneous weeknight meal. But what really sets Antidote apart is the consistency. It’s not just good once, it’s excellent every single time. The service is thoughtful, the pacing of the meal feels natural, and the whole experience just works. New York has no shortage of great restaurants, but Antidote stands out as one of the few places that truly delivers on every level. If someone asked me where to eat in the city, this would be at the very top of my list.
I come to Antidot at least once during the week, and every visit is consistently amazing. The food is absolutely incredible, and the service is always top-notch. I especially want to highlight our server, Cindy — she is warm, attentive, professional, and always makes us feel truly welcome. Thanks to her and the entire team, this place has become a regular spot for me. Highly recommended!
Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Very comfortable for a party of 7 that could’ve accommodated 10 easily. We ordered multiple dishes and every dish was very authentic to my Cantonese taste buds. Staff spoke Cantonese as well which surprised me. I knew the food was going to be good. Would recommend anyone who doesn’t want to take a trip to Chinatown for food and wants authentic tasting Chinese food
If you're looking for good authentic Chinese food but a more modern setting, the Antidote is the perfect choice! Was looking for a Chinese restaurant with vegetarian options but in more modern setting that would be suitable to catch up with a few family friends. The restaurant is nicely decorated, spacious with lovely greenery touches. We went on a Saturday afternoon right as they opened. Definitely suggest making a reservation because they do get busy pretty quick. Food was delicious (even my Chinese aunties complimented the taste of everything). Price-wise it is definitely more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant but worth it. Staff were attentive but not overbearing (I hate when they constantly hover around). Overall it was a great dining experience, definitely would recommend to others.
No notes on this place. Simply outstanding food, great ambiance, perfect for coming with friends so you get to try a lot of the menu items. They were all fantastic. Would come back to keep on trying stuff for sure. Our favourtie dish was the crab tofu! Highly recommend coming here! Thanks for the great experience
everything was absolutely delicious and there are tons n tons of vegetarian friendly options. mapo tofu was mouth numbingly good w the schezuan peppers and the cucumber salad and green beans are also a must try. I loved the storm cloud cocktail!! Great spot for a birthday and it’s very spacious and beautiful!! Portion sizes are also substantial
Really loved the sharing plates style of eating. Among our party of 4 we split 3 small plates and then 2 larger mains. The vegetarian options on this menu were standout, boasting a large, dedicated section of the menu as well as other dishes throughout the menu. The green beans were fantastic, and we really loved the soup dumplings. The whole steamed fish was good too, just felt it needed some more salty & textural elements. But well cooked. The space was elevated industrial and very dynamic, but funnily, the kitchen closed at 9:30 on a Thursday and they turned the lights on at 10 to start closing out tabs and clearing tables. So definitely book an earlier dinner for a weekday night if you can! If like us, you’re only free for a late dinner, just be prepared!
I really enjoyed the food and overall atmosphere at Antidote. The tables are spacious and not too cramped as in most of NYC places. Portion sizes were generous considering the pricing. I’m not a fan of large menus, but with the help of our server, we made our choices pretty quickly. The service was very attentive, and the food came out fast. Highly recommended!
Wow, this place is absolutely beautiful once you walk in and get's better. Came here with a friend for a early dinner / lunch, the place was on the quieter side and the staff were extremely attentive and nice. We stayed rather long and did not feel rushed as the place began to pick up. Our server answered all of our questions and gave us great recommendations. We ordered a little of what felt like everything, started with dumplings, dan - dan noodles which were SPICY for me even though we got mild. They were accommodating enough to withhold meat. We ended with the fish blossom which OMG? The presentation insane. Everything was absolutely delicious and would definitely go back.

-Food was good — we got a mix of everything but i would NOT recommend the cumin lamb. think of dumping half a bottle of cumin into anything and that’s what it was -service was okay - we asked the waitress (or at least one of them because they kinda all seem like they help everywhere) for a difference in the kind of beers and she kinda rolled her eyes and gave a very unenergized response -she also just didn’t look like she was having a good day so i don’t want to be too harsh it happens -atmosphere was great. would not return
I’ve had takeout from this place multiple times and it has always been great, but unfortunately, I dined in there tonight for the first time and I wasn’t that impressed with the food and probably won’t return for a while.
I’ve been here twice with friends. Staff were nice, normal space. Food was good but definitely you pay for the experience in the prices. If you are familiar with Chinese food, then this might not be a place to visit necessarily, but if you r not, worth once. 🌿💚Veggie dishes for vegan were surprisingly delicious! I highly recommend them. Especially the one in my pic (green slices) Dandan noodles were ok. Classic flavor. Same did the chive pancakes. Tea-smoked duck was a little buttery and expensive.

The place looks really nice and is great for a date night, but honestly, the service was super slow. We tried to get a server’s attention multiple times, but no one came. A lot of staff were just walking around, and our plates were never changed. Even bringing out our birthday cake took forever. The food was okay — definitely not as amazing as people say. Nice vibe, but both service and food need some improvement.
Loved antidote!! Broken down review below:\n\nAmbiance: 5/5\nService: 5/5\nFood: 3.8/5\n- specifically were not fans of the crab tofu dish, very mushy with a flavor we couldn't quite figure out? Si…
I usually give good reviews but after eating here, I ended up with an upset stomach🤒, The service was nice 🙂, though, staff were friendly. I didn’t expect to be this disappointed 😞. I’ve seen so many positive reviews 👍, but—this was my real experience. Fei-Hong Fries 🥔 (US$16.00): The supposedly recommended signature dish is actually very mediocre 😐. The fries are bland, and the pre-made chili powder has no special flavor 🌶️. Fish With Spicy Bean Paste 🐟 (US$34.00): The fish is clearly not fresh, frozen ❄️, with tough, compact texture. I couldn’t taste any bean paste , and it was overly sweet almost inedible. Fried Rice With Shredded Duck 🦆🍚 (US$18.00): The smoked flavor is way too strong , overpowering everything else and making it hard to enjoy. Crab Tofu 🦀🍲 (US$26.00): Also pre-made, but the taste is okay 👌—probably the most acceptable dish of the meal. Overall the experience was very disappointing. I won’t come back, and I won’t recommend it
