Well done! Fantastic care in their work. A coffee place, that includes a fine curation of teas.
Great coffee shop, awesome service and likely one of the best espressos in town.
Another mainstream media trying to control what people think (or suggesting in such a way to make things worse than they are). I think it was funny. I find gender-bending an abomination and that is not necessarily from a Christian standpoint. The whole debacle on unified bathrooms or more to the point, I go into whichever restroom of the gender I identify with, is a liberal, STUPID idea that will allow a bunch of pervs to go hang out in women's bathrooms. Regardless of who you identify with, it's what you ARE....not what you may or may not plan to be. Or how girly you're feeling on a given day. The reason this got negative attention is because that is the spin that the media wanted it to have. They did not report business owner with sense of humor puts up sign to suggest that if you want to share a bathroom with a [different] gender, chances are your privacy is going to be encroached upon. Soooo tired of mindless sheep being told what to think. Sooo tired of liberal thinking. "Everyone is the same"...bullsht!! Rubbish We are different for a reason. The coffee shop owners only mistake in this? Taking his sign down.
Friendly staff and coffee definitely does not suck. Coffee is consistently better than any other place in the neighborhood. Love it here.
Great welcome with very friendly staff. The coffee and croissants are excellent enjoyed with good music I recommend !
Clever blend has the best coffee!! Cozy and clean atmosphere with amazing service
Good coffee, friendly staff, comfortable music. It's a good place to stay for a couple of hours, especially from Monday to Friday.
good strong coffee. muffins were really fresh and tasty. Friendly laid back cafe. kid friendly.
What personalized service! My choice every time. Italian expertise for the best coffee.
Awesome coffee, great vibe, and dog friendly. Love everyone who works there
This place has amazing coffee served quickly with a great vibe. Best coffee shop I’ve been to in Brooklyn.
Delicious flat white and ham and cheese croissant. So good this may have to be my new weekend regular.
Amazing coffee shop. High quality. I miss the LIC location. Maybe they'll return to Astoria someday.
Some of the best coffee I’ve had in Brooklyn. But be aware no laptop use on weekends!
I loved it! It's very cozy, the quality of the coffee is amazing and the staff is very friendly and atenttive!
this is my new favorite Coffee Shop in Brooklyn. Unlike most joints in NYC their pour overs are worth the price !!
The coconut cold brew is off the hook. It’s not what you are thinking. They apparently brew real coconut with the beans and it ends up this velvety smooth slightly sweet drink. It’s $5 and I’ll tell ya it’s worth it.
This is the place to come for Indian groceries, amazing spices, selections, and really excellent Dal. It's an Aladdins cave of incredibly cool spices at low prices. If you cook at all you need to check this place out.
There's something aesthetically captivating about this place. Like a cross between a carefully curated Wes Anderson movie and a small town establishment. It's warm, uncomplicated and very friendly. Stay a while!
The best COLD BREW I had in a long time. The interior decor of this place is just perfect and the Barista are cool without being a abnoxious. I would give 6 STARS if I could... I love the wall map and the message they are trying to convey.
Great place with completely Awesome owners! In a world full of hateful people its nice to retreat to somewhere that still has a sense of humor. Oh yeah and who doesn't LOVE coffee..
Amazing place! Traditional european coffee shop and modern at the same time! Very friendly staff! All kinds of coffee drinks with the best quality there is! I definitely recommend!
The best coffee shop along 5th Ave! Incredible staff, child and dog friendly, DELICIOUS coffee, yummy treats. Coming here makes me so happy
Their slogan is coffee that doesn't suck. How true! Their coffee has a wonderful roasted flavor that is not bitter.
This place is great! Go there all the time. I was injured on crutches a while back and all the chairs were taken so they brought a new chair outside for me and brought me my coffee. Great service and very friendly staff.
Beautiful location and very nice persons. Best coffee in town! I'll surely come back to try all the delicious things they have. Good job guys!
Every week, when I need to step away from my computer after another frustrating morning working from home, I often find myself here. As soon as I enter, I'm usually greeted with, "lemme guess, cortado?" Simply put, Clever Blend makes the best cortados in Park Slope. But say you're not me and you want to drink something other than a cortado. Fine. Their rooibos tea and green tea selection are also excellent too.
Reliably good coffee, and more options than most places. Different cold brew flavors, pour overs, flat white. Also fun decorations :D
Fun little Cafe. Good coffee, nice outdoor seating, and a very nice lemon sorbet! Excellent place to stop, sit, and watch people walk by on a lazy weekend.
Excellent coffee. Pleasant atmosphere. Family friendly. Clean Nice owner
The owner and the team is amazing. The atmosphere is perfect, very inviting and warm. Top notch coffee, and all the baristas are amazing. I would recommend all my friend to come here for a coffee date with their loved ones.
Cozy neighborhood coffee shop. Great coffee. Nicely decorated with taste and humor. My every Saturday/Sunday morning destination. My dog LOVES the treats too!
Quality Coffee with both traditional and creative options! The staff is considerate of customers needs with professional treatment, making a trip to this coffee house an enjoyable experience! Lovely and calm setting that has very high regard for ambiance and cleanliness! Top notch!
Lovely place, definitely deserves a higher rating. Great atmosphere, really cute place, and beautiful place to read or work with a laptop (just note that there are no laptops on weekends and I don’t think there are any electrical outlets.)
The barista Veronika is the best! Her coffee is the best one I’ve ever tried! Love the place! Cozy atmosphere and the best chocolate croissant! Really you should try it!
Great coffee, and a very cheerful barista. The pastry here is also outta this world. I will he going every morning from now on. Just one thing to know is that there are no laptops aloud on the weekend, and only three aloud during the week. Its a cozy place though, check it out sometime!
Clever is one of my favorite coffeeshops in Brooklyn. I stop by 1-3 times throughout the week. First of all their coffee and teas are always delicious and freshly made, whether it is a cappuccino, mocha, or matcha - from ice to hot. Second, all the baristas are incredibly friendly. I love stopping by for a quick coffee or stay a while with a book and enjoy the vibes.
Love this cozy, neighborhood joint. Great, strong coffee and good vibes. No laptops on weekends is actually part of the great atmosphere. Who wants to drink coffee some place that feels like a coworking space? Come for the coffee, stay for the jazz.
Fantastic Decor! Dynamite Owner/Barista (from Italy)! Excellent iced coffee. 5 stars... yes yes yes yes yes. They have gelato too, I didn't try it but I imagine it would be excellent. Very cool retro decor. Loved it. You can sit outside, there are a few different options (tables, or a bench). This is a great go-to spot for neighborhood folks, or visitors.
I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream. It was pretty good for 3.50. They had a wide variety of coffee blends as well as coffee packets. The ambience is cozy and relaxing. They have free books and VHS tapes on display.
Best Chai Latte I've ever had. I walk out of my way to get the Chai Latte here. And the baristas are always incredibly nice and personable. Yes prices are high, but... it's Brooklyn, on 5th ave, they're a small business, and oat milk ain't cheap.
Just wow! So amazing beverages. The atmosphere was excellent. This seems like a nice place to visit frequently and hangout if you are staying long term or living in the area. I enjoyed the atmosphere here more than any of the other coffee shops we visited.
Very expensive. Good coffee but $5.50 for a small cqpucinno is absurd. Sorry but this is not Monaco or Dubai. It is Park Slope and one should be able to get a small/medium cappuccino for under $5 dollars. The person taking the order wasn't exactly friendly. Kind of just there which doesn't exactly make for a welcoming experience. Heck folks at Starbuck's are nicer and the cqpoucino is larger and cheaper.
The best coffee in South Brooklyn. Italians making well-crafted Italian coffee (ie a GREAT capuccino) and all the rest, too. Super friendly owners who love our dog; this place is a great addition to the neighborhood.
This place deserves at least a 4.5/5 average. The vibe is immaculate, great music, true italian coffee and espresso, they even brew their tea correctly and don’t leave the leaves in the cup to oversteep! It’s run by an italian family. Everything is perfect about this place if you’re looking for an authentic european vibe: hard to find in america.
Adorable shop. The hot chocolate was my favorite I've had in the area, and very affordable even with an alt milk. They had hooks to keep my dog leashed outside, and little tables and chairs set up outside for us to enjoy. Very friendly staff, as well. Definitely recommend.
Clever Blend is such a gem! Brian the barista is always so kind and clearly passionate about what he does, he makes every drink with real care. I got the pumpkin latte with oat milk, and it was amazing, smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. You can really taste the quality of the coffee here. I also ordered a matcha for my friend, and she said it’s hands down the best she’s ever had, super creamy and not too sweet. The vibe of the place is relaxed and welcoming. Definitely one of the best coffee spots around!
I’ve been going here for ages and decided to give it five stars because I respect that it’s a solid neighborhood cafe with its own identity and rules, as well as very good coffee and friendly staff. They’re not trying to be a coworking space and thats their prerogative! They never act unprofessional or unking. The only times I’ve seen them do that is in response to some of the bitter and whiny reviews on here, which honestly makes me like then more!
The drip coffee is good, dark roast, but I keep coming back because the staff is kind, friendly and welcoming. Owners Nadia and Luca are wonderful, and they have a treasure in their barista Ariceli. She asks and remembers customer names! The newer barista Ariana is wonderful as well. Just the most welcoming, friendly place you can imagine.
I met a friend at Clever Blend yesterday - it was my first time there (I think it used to be Gorilla Coffee.). The drip coffee was excellent (rich flavor with no bitterness) and the pastry was fine (chocolate croissant) ... the prices were good as well. I'll keep this cafe on my short list.
As someone who lives in Park Slope, I can’t believe I’ve never stopped by Clever Blend before! Well-made coffee, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I will absolutely be coming back with a book📖! There are few things I love more than a local coffee shop with plenty of seating. P.s. Add maple syrup to your hot coffee! ☕️
This neighborhood place has good energy vibes, cute wooden design with nice seating options and of course great beverages. I had matcha latte and it was made fast and well without unbroken lumps of powder - which often happens in other places. Their pastries looked good too, so may be i will try next time.
I am lucky enough to live just steps away from Clever Blend, aside from the PERFECT latte, espresso, and cold brew, Clever Blend is the only place that can take me back to the cafes and cappuccino shops in Rome. If not for the great coffee, charming decor, and unique customer service it’s worth coming to see the hilarious chalkboard art on the ad stand outside (Tell Lucca you noticed it he takes pride)😉☕️
I really love the vibe of this place and appreciate a coffee space that is light and airy for a change. I have always found the people who work here quite pleasant. I love their maple lattes! I really love that they have some books and games here for my child to enjoy while the adults enjoy coffee and conversation.
A lovely local coffee spot. Friendly servers. A treasure trove of old books to read.Fun artisanal drinks made with organic tasty ingredients. I've had their hot chocolate (awesome), a maple latte (perfectly sweet), and your basic coffee (which tasted like coffee is supposed to). I especially like that some tables are specifically labelled 'no laptops please', so it's designed to be social establishment to enjoy coffee and conversation, and not just a den for frustrated screenwriters. They need more places like this one.
Tasty Coffee and treats with a cozy, warm decor. Small tables for outside since no indoor. Good selection of beverages and some pastries. Polite service.
Left review for wrong restaurant before. That coffee shop we loathed. This one is cute and friendly. We liked this one.
Good espresso, not too acidic, I liked it. The prices are a bot high, almost 4 bux for a double shot though.
I love this place! The coffee and pastries are tasty, everyone is friendly, and it's a good place to have a conversation or get some studying in. Yeah, they're really strict about the laptop policy, too.
The cold brew wasn't as flavourful as I'd like but I enjoy the location. The laptop segregation is cool because people can actually use the space as a cafe
i was shocked, but the coconut cold brew was actually delicious and not overly creamy at all. it was delicious and refreshing
I had ordered just the regular hot Coffee which was as expected. We came with a good group of ppl and we we're accommodate rather quickly and orders ranged from teas to lattes. Good for a quick visit or sit down with friends but it's not a large place by any means.
Pretty good coffee. Just happen they were close and made good espresso
Great service, nice space, espresso was a little too dark roasted for me leading to a pretty bitter espresso.
Pour over was $6! Yes, $6! Chai latte was disappointing in that it had zero flavor. The coffee shop does offer ample seating which is a plus for this part of town and the staff is friendly.
I'm putting this review up here because I know the owner reads it. Clever Blend's slogan is "Coffee that doesn't suck". Which is like 80% true. Their beans are great, even though they mysteriously don't have roasted on or packaged dates anymore. But here's the rub, when you buy coffee beans, you get a drip coffee for free. That drip coffee is so consistently burnt/over roasted tasting that I chuck the whole thing 90% of the time after the second sip. How can you package good beans but be selling coffee like that in the store? Owner, please read this and figure out what's going on. It doesn't need to be this way!
Three stars for two reasons: 1) Coffee tasted burnt. Will try the hand pour next time, maybe that'll be better. 2) Not a very welcoming atmosphere for laptop users with multiple signs (walls, tables, and also in the bathroom lol) discouraging prolonged stays of laptop users. Of course, I understand the coffee shop's disposition (multiple hour squatters with minimum purchase) but still pretty off-putting. It IS a coffee shop with tables & wifi...
Nothing special about their coffee . Fast service though
Cute café, I thought it was nice they have a section with books and for some reason VHS. Ordered a latte and it wasn't great, I could taste the milk more than the coffee. We wanted to sit down and drink it there on a regular mug but they only provide to-go cups, which I see as wasteful. Ambience was nice and quiet, good for conversation. Anyway, it was just an ok experience.
Go here if you like the old school cappuccino/coffee that was the standard 10 years ago. They serve different kind of coffee than the 2021 barista ones like Devoción and Brooklyn Roasting company, but that might be your thing. IMO it doesn't have the depth, the lovely smell or sour tones that other coffee shops have. It looks cute inside, kind baristas. Only take out.
Good service, nice interior, tasty hot chocolate. Update: gave five stars after my first visit. Since then, I’ve been back a few times and have had mixed (including a few negative) experiences. They sell a certain type of coffee mug with an awesome logo (1st photo). After first visit I returned to try to purchase one. The clerk brusquely told me they were not for sale, even though it seemed pretty clear they were. Fast forward to two weeks ago, I stopped back in and tried to purchase the mug. This time, success! After taking the mug home, I then realized it has text on it (2nd photo) that I’m not a fan of. So, I went back to the store today to try to return it in original condition with original packaging, but was told by staffmember that Clever Blend doesn’t do returns. Was disappointed by this. Was probably my last time in there. If anyone in NYC likes the mug and wants it please feel free to DM me 🙃
Woot just got a small black coffee to go and I had to throw it out it was so bad. This didn’t bear on anything but the New Country mix playing in there should have tipped me off.
$7 for a coldbrew and they can't even give you a real straw or plastic cup that doesn't leak...
Too expansive, burnt coffee. Horrible roast and possibly the worst drip in park slope. Espresso is ok if they don't burn it. You can find better coffee shops 2-3 blocks away.
The people working there were nice and the pastries looked fine. But the coffee is really bad… as if the latte was made with the cheapest ground coffee (think nespresso machine level) mixed with warm milk. Edit (for the owner): I live in the area. I'm not an expert so I can't explain what's wrong, but it tasted like a standard generic drip coffee with milk, again the place is very nice but it would benefit having a real, solid, good coffee. Also I don't choose Google's Local Guide label, that appears after leaving only a few reviews.
It's a nice little place, but the coffee is just above passable, and the service is just as bad. It would be tolerable for convinience but it's also expensive. They dont seem to want to make coffee to order. Like I ask for a specific order, and it's not that.
My experience not too good ! Coffee was horrible and ask for to have muffin warmed up !! Still cold when she gave it back Totally a fail and too expensive
No labtop but phones are fine. What kind of coffee shop culture is that!!!!
Saw the sign on the toilet, wow who in his/her right mind will find this funny - would NEVER return to this place again! Such people are responsible for spreading rape culture in the society. SHAME!!!
Beware! No laptops allowed lol You will not have my business Response to owner: Your reaction does not surprise me the least bit. Perhaps you should consider another line of business.
I ordered an iced latte, but what I received was a cold, tasteless coffee without any espresso shot. To make matters worse, it didn't even come prepared – I had to add the milk myself. One star for this disappointing experience.
Very poor coffee… this is not a specialty coffee venue
Poor politics and poor customer service. Owner has placed a sign promoting sexual violence against women and instead of apologizing or taking it down he's acting like a petulant child on the shop's instagram. There's plenty of coffee in park slope.
Only filled my large coffee up halfway, which was fine because coffee tasted terrible and wasn’t even hot. Chocolate croissant was empty. Go ahead and skip this place.
Coffee good; cafe horrible. Don’t come if you want to be productive. Laptops not allowed AT ALL during the weekend (and very limited during the week). They are happy to let you buy coffee first though. Did not get a refund. They are apparently happy to inform you of some of their policies but not others.
Just bought a coffee - Charging 75 cents for non-dairy milk with cold brew (not an espresso drink) is absurd. Other coffee shops, understandably, will charge extra for milk-based drinks. Paying 75 cents for a splash of milk is just ridiculous. I asked the barista on shift to pass on the feedback but he just stared blankly at me and said nothing, so I guess I’ll share here! Do better than $5+ cold brew. **update for owner response: The issue is the surcharge for less than 4oz of milk. You’re charging the same surcharge for a splash of milk as you are for a latte that contains ~80% milk. Not standard.
Americano was bad. Laptop rule is annoying but I get it, makes for a better vibe, but then only paper cups available? The one thing that was great was the service, really friendly and helpful staff working there. To the cafe owners: I know you think the laptop rules are made very clear but they still are not. I only found out after I ordered a coffee and sat down. If you see someone walk in alone with a backpack, it’s probably worth reminding them when they order it’s a no-laptop time. [Edit] Initially left a three star review, but after the defensive and passive aggressive response from the owner, changing it to a one star. The laptop thing is obviously not clear or people would not be mentioning it in the reviews. I think it's a good policy, just make it more clear. For the record, I did get a refund and appreciate that.
Stopped in because my little guy wanted some ice cream. I used my card to pay and did not enter a tip amount because I was going to put cash in the tip jar. An elderly man when I was checking out literally started yelling at me, “No tip, Where’s the tip?” Extremely rude. I put $2. in the tip jar did not say thank you or acknowledge. I will not be returning. Thank you for your reply. I apologize for the miscommunication about the man not being an employee and I have updated my review. I believe you were serving the ice cream and it would have been nice if you had said something while I was getting yelled at. A simple quiet, sorry about that, you’re fine. When I put the $2. in the jar you could have said thank you or even that it wasn’t necessary.
