This spot, highly recommended. The empanadas were amazing! After trying a chicken and beef, had to order more right away. They have a lot of options. The smoothies were also on point. Made just right. Frozen Pina Colada and Sonias Pineapple gotta smoothie you need to try. The service was fast and very friendly. They take care of law enforcement and military as well! If your in the area or not, definitely visit this spot and see for yourself. I will be coming back for sure to try some others out.
So hear me out. Empanadas have always been a passive street snack for me. Deep fried and lackluster, but good for flavor on the go. Then I ate at Empanadas City and … omg go. The empanadas are filled generously and flavored perfectly. Many options even vegan. And the fry on these are PERFECT. It’s also super cozy in here cute date spot with bar. It’s super clean and the staff are the kind that make you feel super welcomed. So I’ll be back and I recommend highly.
YUM!!! their veggie empanadas hit so hard... I got spinach & ricotta, veggie pastelon, and passion fruit limeade to drink. can't wait to come back and try more!
Fire ropa veija empanadas among other tasty options. Great for a quick affordable savory bite. Heat sauce packs a decent punch and the avocado sauce is on point.
We ordered 11 empanadas to be delivered & let me tell you.. AMAAZIINGNGGGGG… Ropa Vieja took the cake… #1 we are ready to order 100 More Spinach w ricotta was amazing Pastelon was dry ( never again) Shrimp seasoned well Americana yummy Queso y guava sweet dessert yum BBQ CHICKEN seasoned nicely Cuban was great. All of the flavors 10/11 were just amazing.. They did forget to send 1 ropa vieja but we called and the gentleman on the phone was very apologetic and kind. We just picked it up after work. Definitely coming back by friday😋
I was roaming around the neighborhood waiting for a friend and I saw EMPANADA CITY! As a Proud Puertorriqueña, this place has my blessing!! Delicious empanadas, the dough is delightful, the customer service was diverse- Empanada City is Puerto Rican/Dominican owned and I was wonderfully assisted by a Venezuelan cashier! Getting back to the food, I had the signature Pollo and Pizza! It was delicious, the pollo wasn’t dry either which we LOVEEE!! I must add I did get the pink sauce which is your traditional, mayo, ketchup, and garlic. It was only 30’cents, I don’t blame them for charging, the signature empanadas are only $3.00 which is an unbeatable price for their quality. I also got their Fruit Limeade, which comes with fruit inside the cup- I LOVE! I can’t wait to go back and eat more.
As a Latina, i can say the following statement: THE BEST EMPANADAS IN THE CITY. So delicious, they even have their name branded on the dough. Just, so creative with the fillings. I got the shrimp and guava/cheese empanadas and I had to order more. Please come in here and try them out. You will not be disappointed !!!!!!
My 1st time going and I live not that far, how did I not try this spot before. The ropa vieja is my absolute favorite. I also had the mac n cheese w spicy chicken so good and the Cuban was good too! The pernil is seasoned to perfection. Def going back , maybe ordering tonight for dinner 😋🥰 P.s. they imprint the initials of the name into the crust. Super smart 🤓 love it.
My favorite empanada was the Americana. I can’t wait to go back and buy more. I bought chicken, beef and sweet plantain with cheese as well. I also tried the mango smoothie and the frozen piña colada. If I were to choose one, I would order the frozen piña colada again. I tried all three sauces and those are really good too. What’s cool about the empanadas is that they are marked with its flavor. So if you bought chicken, it would say (PC) for plain chicken on the side of empanada or (B) for ground beef. Don’t miss out on the Americana, definitely add it to your order.
love this place! super reliable good cheap food! The dense plantain / cheese empanada was still a little cold unfortunately but all others were on point!
Take out review: Pros: a ton of different empanada fillings and drinks, the avocado sauce was pretty tasty, good amount of filling in each empanada, good service, store is clean and modern. Cons: they forgot one of our items, some empanadas were too salty. Overall: best empanadas ever? No, but definitely the best empanada spot in Bushwick! Will return to try out some more flavors.
I ordered via UberEats 9 empanadas and a morir sonando $54. The empanadas were placed 3 per bag. None were labeled so I wanted to try the guava and cheese and had to bite into 4 different empanadas to find it…. Smfh. I was suprised that cream cheese was used with the guava, not the traditional cheese, I was caught off guard. Very interesting to say the least. I want to try the apple, but I cannot bite into 4 more empanadas to find it. Geeeeeeesh. The flavor of the four I bit were ok. Sry, not worth the money charged.
The purpose of this review is not to hate or harm this restaurant in any way, shape, or form. That being said, I hope you take this review as an informative review. Atmosphere: Spacious space with decent seatings. There are also tables out when it's summertime. Not too clean as some customers leave trash behind and employees take long to clean it. Service: Acceptable. Food: These are definitely much better empanadas than others I've tried. However, they're certainly not the best. I ordered the Bacalao, Shrimp, Veggie Pastelon, Mixed Vegetables, and the Apple Pie empanadas. They mark their empanadas' dough with letters for easy flavor recognition. All of them were alright. However, none of them really hit that point of worthiness, considering their size and price. Oh, if you want a sauce, you'll have to buy it. Something that in other places is included with your order. Price: Honestly, the quality is kind of noticeable. However, the flavors are not exactly there. The flavor part does not justify their prices, at least for the signature empanadas. Perhaps the traditional ones taste better.
The empanadas themselves are mostly good. Downside is none of the empanadas are labeled so if you order a ton, you have to open them up to see what’s what. Anytime I order online they’ve left an empanada missing. I called for a refund and they didn’t want to arrange that for us.
Charging $.30 for Mayo and ketchup mixed together is like me selling water and charging $.30 for the cup…. The napkins were free though. The napkins were free. Since I’m unable to reply to the owner comment,I’ll just edit mine. You’re right running a business is part of making tough decisions which means that your customer health and safety should be number one priority. I walked in there and didn’t see one sign related to allergy, even though the condiment that you make is made with mayo which contains eggs. Customers health should always be top priority and because the sauce that you make is made with mayo, I’m allergic to eggs which is why I asked for just ketchup. Nothing should be free and I’m not saying it should be. But if I make a purchase, then I expect some type of condiments that come with that purchase. I know I’m welcome to choose where I spend my money, and if I knew that health and safety was not your top priority I would have never came here. I’d rather support businesses where they prioritize their customers health and safety. Taking pride in the food you make is great. I did not say the food was awful I actually rated the food at four star so it’s not about the food. It’s about the way you choose to deal with customers and not caring about their health. Your response to my message says a lot about your character as a business woman which also validate my message to be true. You should always take pride in customers health and safety as well. As a matter of fact that should be #1. Take this as a lesson. Don’t look at this as a bad review because if I wanted to be evil, I would’ve bought the sauce for $.30 had allergic reaction and then SUE you.
I placed an order on DoorDash date 11.10 and forgot the sauces so I thought I can call in. I called for 20 min and nobody picked up. I get that’s it’s the last half hour. I’m at work as well. (I also take last mins customers) the Driver had to pay out of pocket. We also work with DoorDash. I just thought they would have had better service for their customers like answering the phone for customers!!!!
Always giving me the wrong order and once I get home which its about twenty minutes from the place, I stay hungry. The cook or whoever gets the order has to make sure they get right. I don't have money to waste.
