Avis sur Samurai Papa Brooklyn
In the heart of BedStuy is this Ramen gem! I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. The flavors and quality of food, the vibe and service is impeccable. Absolutely so satisfying, especially when you’re really hungry! We split a Dan Dan ramen and salmon bento box and went non verbal so encompassed by the meal. I will also usually grab a few appetizers to begin, definitely get some gyoza. So excited to come back 🍜
I was doing my Sunday walk about when I stumbled across this restaurant hidden in the cut. I scratched my head because I don't remember seeing it ever. I walked in it was a small place but small place means that I might have a chance to get a seat during a mid afternoon. And I did. I do wish it was bigger perhaps if we continue to support this place The owner might decide to find a larger space and who knows what will happen there after, hint hint. I really liked the friendliness of the gentleman behind the bar and it seemed as though I was not the only one who was new to this place as a customer stated the food is really good. So now that cause me to have to try it. I checked the menu and to my surprise they had the brussel sprouts that I have only tried once at another restaurant. Need I tell you that I ordered it of course I don't need to tell you that but I'm telling you I ordered it and omg what fabulous flavors. I also ordered the spicy Dandan however I didn't order it dry I ordered it as a soup which was absolutely wonderful. As you can see in the photo great presentation. My mouth was tingling with fire just the way I like it not overbearing at all. Little baby bok choy was nice and clean and fresh throughout the leaves. If you're coming here make sure that you look for this place right at the corner because you can miss it it's in front of the bus stop. I'm glad I went out on my Sunday walk and I'm glad I chose this restaurant. The price was reasonable and I have room for dessert but chose to take a dessert somewhere else that I've never tried before perhaps next time. As I always say you could take my advice or you could try it out for yourself please step into this restaurant and enjoy.
Tasty food, good cocktails, and a unique setting. All the seats are bar/counter in the front, and there’s a small enclosed back seating area—they can accommodate about 20 people at once indoors, which is impressive in the space. Varied menu with assorted options of soba and ramen. Lots of vegetarian options. The lychee cocktail was nice. People seemed to like the canned Hi Chus, too. The ramen and soba both had a good amount of noodles and were filling. The flan was nice, not super sweet with strong cha flavor. Friendly staff. There were some people hanging out for quite a while and they didn’t rush anyone out.
Fantastic, authentic ramen spot. After trying samurai mama (incredible!) I found that papa is their sister shop. The names are incredibly accurate; papa is more of a traditional, classical, ma and pa feel; mama is more of a rustic upscaled vibe, and the ramen is slightly lighter. Heavier broth is in the tanban ramen, though flavorful and great ratio of noddles to soup to additions. The pork was well prepared. You can tell they take pride in their service and food. No MSG meant my stomach was not on fire of inflammation and swelling. I had leftovers as well - I only got the ramen soup . I will absolutely be coming back and referring to others!
Took my son here for dinner. Food did not disappoint 😋. The staff were so amazing, the drinks were absolutely perfect. Great date spot, theirs also and outdoor area with privacy 😀. I had the calamari salad and the salmon bento, and my son had the shrimp shumai and Tonbara Pork Cloudy Soup Ramen. This place 10/10
Lovely ambiance, great chicken karaage, phenomenal Dan-dan. The shio ramen was subtle but nice, i wish it was a bit richer but who am I to say? Great pork bun meat but the bao was tough and chewy, which was quite surprising. It'd probably be better next time, seemed like an anomaly because everything else was very well done.
ALL the food was so SO GOOD. We ordered the shrimp katsu buns (not pictured) — HIGHLY recommend. Also the kakiage soba and shoyu ramen. Both super delicious. I honestly came to dinner feeling very full and was surprised that I could finish my whole bowl because I just couldn't stop eating. We also got the brown rice tea (excellent) and yuzu ginger iced tea (interesting). Such a great find, this place!
I know this place has great reviews but it just was very low quality meat and vegetables and taste for $20 bowl of ramen. Maybe their dishes other than ramen are better. Don’t know if I’d eat there again
It's a pretty small place but there is outdoor seating. It's really cute and a nice vibe. I had the veggie gyozas and they were really tasty, and the sauce they served on the side good as well. I had the gyu Don rice bowl which is made with beef. The beef was really tender and had a sweetness to it that tasted amazing. I would definitely return. They also offer Ramen, Soba, Vegan and Bento food items. The staff was very nice.
I use to go to Samurai Papa often when they first opened and the ramen was great! I went twice in the past 6 months and the ramen was just okay, I was really disappointed. I ordered pork gyoza and the shoyu ramen. The pork filling in the dumplings were over seasoned and the ramen was very bland.
Disappointed. I’d been here several times in the past and although 2 orders of ramen cost us $50, I convinced my partner visiting from out of town that it would be delicious. We ordered to go and maybe that was the issue? We basically received noodles and broth, minimal toppings. I ordered fried tofu and received one small piece. The meal was disrespectful in general and our order was wrong. In this economy, if someone is spending over $20 for a single bowl of ramen, put some type of care into it. I won’t be returning. Disappointing.
We ordered takeout last night (11/8/25) and it was ready 30 min after they said it would be. Our order was placed on their website and it said it would be ready at 6:10pm. My partner arrived at 6, checked in with the server, and waited until 6:40pm to finally get our food. We just got two ramens and two sides so there’s no way it took an hour to make that. We totally understand that you might get busy in a rush or your ordering platform might not give the most accurate estimate, but not offering any explanation or apology felt unprofessional. Many other spots would offer a drink or comp something from the order. Waiting 40 min (30 beyond the time you said the order would be ready) is not cool. Nor is the lack of communication. The food is decent but not worth the experience, at least for takeout. And somehow it wasn’t even that hot when we live just five minutes away.
