The best board game cafe in the city! They have the newest games, the food is great and well thought out and the drinks are fun. Been coming here for almost a year now and we always have an awesome time!
Love love love this sweet boardgame cafe in the neighborhood. All the games are so well-maintained, the place feels very clean, the staff is so nice, and they have great food and bubble tea! A wonderful place to discover new games. Their shelving system is quite well-organized and there's something for everyone - from intense euro-game fanatics to casual players / families. I come here almost weekly at least to get my boba fix!
I love love love the atmosphere here ❤️ definitely a great place to spend time with friends especially if you’re looking for indoor activities in the colder months! If you have a chance to grab food, PLEASE GET THE TUNA MELT idk what they put in there but it is actually life changing…
You can't go wrong with the Italian panini and the taro bubble tea ;) Other things I have to say: * Great place to play Magic! I've met so many new people and discovered new MtG communities here. Lot of regulars. Diverse crowd. * There's a relatively active Discord server to learn about events, talk to the owner, trade cards, etc. * The owner and staff are awesome and also total nerds 😄 * Food is bomb!! one of the few LGSes in the 5 boroughs that serves food. Essential for surviving and thriving during draft and pre-release nights 😁 You can order from your table with a QR code. There's also free plastic cups/ water dispenser. I can't say I have many suggestions. I guess I wish they had decaf coffee LOL.
My family and I had the best time hanging out, eating to tasty options, and playing a game together. It is a comfortable place the staff was warm and friendly. It is great place to get our kids off screens and to engage as a family. I have also come to hang for a bit in the early afternoon alone. It is quiet and the coffee is good!
Such a cute place. I came for a MTG Prerelease but they have so many games! Im definitely going to come back to play them. I didn't order any food but I love that they have food and drinks to order while you play. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Great spot!
-great prices -great atmosphere -great game options -great staff My boyfriend and I visited NYC and Brooklyn for a few days and lets just say we overdid in in the first two days LOL. By the 4th and 5th day we were looking for something we could do that was more chill but fun and this cafe was perfect for us! They had our favorite game (it's a wonderful world) and so many more options than i would have ever expected. you can order food and drinks right from the table and the staff was super kind. If i rememeber correctly its only like 12$ per person for 3 hours?! amazing deal whatever it was and I would absolutely visit more if i lived in the city.
sip and play is truly a pillar of the park slope community. The food is great and they always have a wide selection of games to make your time worthwhile. The drinks are delicious and they tend to have seasonal beverages! Gameplay is $10 for 3 hours which is cheaper than other board game cafes I’ve visited. Great for children and adults alike - have and will be a repeat customer.
New hire (sorry idk if i caught your name) and Aaron were awesome. Friendly, good salespeople without being too pushy. my first time visiting, and it was late, so kitchen was closed but menu looks cool and the nutella hot chocolate i did have was perfect. will most likely be returning sometime soon…
Great store with very competitive pricing, the friendliest staff, a clean, well maintained play area, and a decent selection of games. I play Modern here every Thursday and this store is by far my favorite place to play Magic: The Gathering. The tourney organizer, Jonathon Li is friendly, helpful, considerate, and really cares about the people playing Magic here. He will wait to start if someone is running late, will work with the players to figure out proper judge calls, and even lend you cards or a whole deck. The store itself is very well lit, maintained, and most importantly clean. We all know board and card game enthusiasts can be on the smelly/ less hygienic side, but this store is thankfully better maintained. The bathroom is spacious and cleaned regularly with some cool artwork. The staff is friendly and helpful. They've always been nice to customers from what I see, and will regularly bring your order to your table if you're busy playing a game. All in all I couldn't recommend a better place to play board games or Magic: The Gathering.
This is the best spot to come to with friends! Especially if you’re bored or can’t figure out what to do. It’s $10-$12 dollars a person for 3 hours to play board games! It is so fun, sometimes we pay for another 3 hours. The food is pretty good, but a little pricey. That’s okay though because they even allow you to bring outside food and drinks. I come here a lot and must say, I’ve never had a problem and always have so much fun! Only thing I would say is some of the games have missing instructions or missing pieces which is unfortunate. Still super fun though!
My daughter and I had to check out of our Airbnb at 11 but our flight wasn't until 6pm. So we hung out for a few hours at this spot and had the best time. The coffee was wonderful 😊 the boba not so much. But the games are incredibly fun. I do wish they would take the money they charge people to play them, and reinvest it back into the games. Both of the operation games had zero bone pieces. In my opinion, if you're a gaming establishment you should be checking your games and making sure they are up to par for your paying guests. There were several other games missing pieces so we decided to play exploding kittens and had a great time. At the end we played Jenga. The atmosphere is really nice but be aware they do play pretty intense music quite loudly. My daughter has sensory sensitivities and the music was a bit much for her but we handled it alright 😊 would definitely go back again and recommend to friends.
Excellent spot. Super friendly hosts and they have plenty of games like monopoly, settlers of Catan, gigantic UNO, cards against humanity, codename, battleships, and so much more. They also have coffee and tea drinks. No decaf unfortunately. But best past is they are open late until midnight/12a.
We are only rating on the experience because we did not arrive in time to eat. The kitchen was closed for the night. We still had such a good night. The variety of games was amazing. We played games we had never played before. We stayed for 2-3 hours. We would definitely love to visit our next vacation again to try the food. It was worth the 20-minute commute!
For $8 per person for 3 hours worth of playing, I think it’s pretty worth it. This is a great place to hang out with your friends and have a chill day as they have a wide variety of games to play. However, I would like to say that immediately walking in, it smelled like PAM cooking spray. The smell stuck to me throughout the whole day which made me feel pretty disgusting. There was no sort of ventilation at all. Also, theres a lack of staff members. My friends and I waited 35 minutes for our drinks to be made. Other than that, my experience here was still pretty good because my friends and I did have a fun time together.
They have alotta games to choose from, you’ll be overwhelmed. The food was okay, couldn’t even finish it all, their playlist was also awesome. They do ask for covid vaccine card for indoor seating. Also, they let you know when your time is almost up. I gave it 4 stars because the chicken was cold in our spicy chicken sandwich. But I might go again with a bigger group.
Overall it was a very fun experience with my party of 4, just two things were very concerning and I think it would help the place overall. 1. You guys needa bigger kitchen, or more staff on the kitchen portion of things but I respect the fact the store gave me the money back for part of the order we didn't get( the drinks were awesome 👍🏽) 2. I understand you can't fully Keep the best track of all the games within your establishment, but I noticed, there are ALOT of games but more duplicates of very unknown games, and actually some of the popular ones. I'm not upset over it at all because a deck of 200+ uno cards for 4 people is a win in my book, but the thing is from what we all saw were things getting damaged, things that weren't present in the boxes that held the games, missing pieces , missing instructions. It's a shame really because your place is really nice. I just hope there's a way to stop the thievery of these things.
