The food is absolutely delicious. Whether it's the chicken or ribs, the meat just falls off the bone. The food has so much flavor. And the staff are so so nice. My husband and I really enjoyed speaking to everyone.
Tony the manager hooked it up with one of the best chicken sandwiches. Must order! Hospitality was amazing too . Feel like you’re with family. Must try this spot , walking distance from Brooklyn Steele .
Stopped in by chance, but definitely going back on purpose next time. Best chicken sandwich I ever had courtesy of Tony. My friend got ribs with meat falling off the bone. Chill atmosphere with smiles & great people. Calling it a Taste of Heaven was right on the money. Thanks y'all, we'll be back!
HEAVEN KNOWS !!! Incredible, this is a MUST HAVE !!!! JD Ribs,Mac& cheese, cabbage. 5 Stars***** I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Just By the taste of everything on this 1st plate I KNOW every other one I have will be pure Quality and Perfection. Ribs fall right off the bone, careful don't drop any. Lol Cabbage was the Best I've ever had, can't wait to try Collard Greens. Mac and cheese???? You have to go and try for Yourself, well worth the trip no matter where you are. Thank you Taste of Heaven for sharing this Godly Cuisine with us here in the neighborhood. Godbless and GodSpeed.
As advertised, this place is definitely a Taste of Heaven! Ordered the jerk chicken, but heard from another customer that the jack daniels sauce was also good, and would love to come back and try that. Another thing that made a great impression on me was when I witnessed a pescatarian customer walked in who didn't realize they didn't typically have fish on the menu, rather than having them leave disappointed, one of the employees ran to a nearby store to buy a salmon filet to accommodate them. On top of the food, you definitely get a Taste of Heaven through their amazing customer service!
100% the best meal I had on my Holidays Brooklyn vacation. BBQ Jerk Chicken - The definition of Tendernism!! As Chef Tony said “Leave your teeth at home, cause that meat gone fell right OFF the bone!!” What a great man and character!! Whole family was amazing. All of them were so hospitable. And they really love what they do. Mac and Cheese - one of the best I ever had. So well seasoned. Candied Yams - so smooth and sweet. And that CORNBREAD!! So damn SOFT!! Mmm everything exceeded expectations. Will be back for sure!!!
My husband and I went to a show at the Brooklyn Steel and walked to this place. The food was outstanding, very flavorful! We had various dishes, but my favorite was the chicken alfredo stew and the fried shrimp. The owner was welcoming and a very nice man. He spoke to us and was very warm to us. The young man there was also very helpful and kind. Great place for a bite to eat! Enjoyed it! Thank you, Taste of Heaven. Happy Holidays from our home in Connecticut, all the way to your kitchen in Brooklyn, NY!! May God bless you all.
The folks at Taste of Heaven really took care of my family and I. We ended up making a huge catering order for a family event, and Melody and the crew went above and beyond to get our food ready. We had an ambitious order, but everything turned out delectable. The banana pudding cake was divine. The fried chicken and fried fish were mouth-watering. I highly recommend coming! You feel the warmth.
The food here slaps. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients! It tasted clean but complex, and incredibly flavorful like homemade. The dishes worked together really well. Amazing value for such high-quality food. The vibe was warm and welcoming, and the staff hard working! Would definitely come back. Highly recommend
This spot is nothing but love on a plate. The mac & yams? Legendary. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone tender, seasoned just right every time. Honestly, everything I’ve tried tastes like somebody put their whole heart into it. And that’s because it’s not just a restaurant — it’s a family operation. You can feel it. It takes an army to pull it off, and they move like one hell of a family, making sure every plate is consistent, filling, and worth the wait. Fridays are special, especially when the short rib hits the menu — that’s my personal favorite. The prices are more than fair, the lines are filled with repeat customers who already know, and new faces who are about to get their first taste of authentic Black soul food done right. It’s homestyle cooking that keeps you coming back. My daughter has her favorite, I’ve got mine, and everybody I bring ends up falling in love with it too. Five stars, easy.
We arrived 30 before closing but even then Taste of Heaven’s hospitality and food did not disappoint. We arrived to warm welcomes and the smell of true soul food. We had the Jack Daniels bbq ribs, my personal favorite, and the bbq turkey. The meat fell right off the bones! Paired with rice and peas, collard greens, candied yams and seasoned green beans. The plate is plenty of food for the price! It won’t disappoint and it comes with cornbread. YUM! It’s a take out business so seating is limited but they do have 2 seater table set up both inside and outside. This place will become a favorite and will be going back to taste it all! It’s surely a taste of heaven!
I came with no expectations, but the food was absolutely incredible and delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing friends who visit me in NYC. The prices are very affordable, and the quality is excellent. The chicken burger, potato salad, and mixed vegetables were truly amazing. The only downside is that the place is a bit small, with limited seating inside, and it can get noisy at times. Overall, a fantastic spot I highly recommend! Before we get to talking about the food, let’s talk about the service… Southern Hospitality at its finest. Usually you come to a spot like this and they rush you out with your order. Excellent service. I wanted candy yams it near closing time and they had some cooking told me how long it would take and I waited. Family Run Black Business Love to see it🤩 Now the food Sweet Lord. That turkey wing feel off the bone 🦴 Perfect amount of seasoning and sweetness. Candied yams is the best I’ve had to date it wasn’t sickly sweet you had the sweetness of the sweet potatoes really shining through spiced perfectly; most places put too much sugar in their yams where it’s mushy n sugary this was not the case. Mac n Cheese solid. Cornbread was some cornbread alright 😮💨 slightly coarse texture from the corn that made it very enjoyable and authentic. Turkey Chilli and white rice couldn’t go wrong with at all🔥 Got Fruit punch and grape drink that was perfect too. The food is made with love you can really taste it. Looking forward to coming back and spending more. Got a customer for a lifetime. Big Thanks to Aunt Mel, Uncle Tony and Heaven you run a phenomenal joint 👏🏾👏🏾 Can not recommend this place enough -London Kat
This place has some of the best food I’ve ever had! We had the oxtail with yellow rice and peas and potato salad on the side and BBQ ribs with collard greens and Mac and cheese on the side (since they were all sold out of beef short ribs by 2PM)! Note: the oxtail and beef short ribs are specials on Fridays only and they sell out fast! The BBQ ribs weren’t as tender as we expected, but the oxtail blew our mind. It was well seasoned but not spicy. The sauce was *chef’s kiss*. If you come here, be ready to stand in line but get that oxtail! My only real complaint is that they don’t offer indoor seating, and only 2 tables outside. There is a park nearby but the area isn’t great so we were skeptical of that. All things considering, I would 100% go back!
This place is awesome, serving up some good, heart warming, and filling food for the soul. I don’t get soul food nearly enough but this was some of the best I’ve had. I went with Jack Daniels ribs, cabbage and mac&cheese. The ribs were super tender and full of flavor and the sides hit the spot. This was home style cooking at its best! I’ll be back!
Overall rating: 4.4 Of course I heard of this place through Keith Lee.. I went on a Saturday at 4 & everything was sold out. I wasn’t a fan that they wait to tell you this news until you’re inside (already in line) and at the counter. They should consider having a sign outside. The location was in East Williamsburg which is a chill area. So I was surprised they had a “security guard/ bouncer” indicating when you can come into the room. The process was very confusing and I didn’t know even with his guidance on when it was my turn. It would be great if they clear signs in general on what was happening. Definitely felt out of place. The food that was available was good! The Mac and cheese and fried chicken was good. And they do tell you how long to wait for the other items. I liked the food, but the service and experience was a bit of a turnoff for me. I live in deep Brooklyn and not sure if it’s worth the commute for me.
I recently visited Taste of Heaven, and overall the experience was okay. My favorite item was definitely the collard greens, they were flavorful and well-seasoned. The rice and peas, however, lacked flavor, and the stew chicken was a bit dry and overcooked for my taste. The fried fish and mac and cheese were just okay. The service was pleasant, but the food itself was a little hit or miss for me. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to return, but I’m glad I gave it a try.
