I didn't have reservation but the very nice beauty of a Hostess got me a table anyway and it was packed. Did I say she was nice and a beauty? Anyway... I'm not in Brooklyn much but the name sounded cool. "THE WICKED MONK" It oozed good food and beer. I had a couple bud lights and the Wicked Monk burger with fries. For an Appetizer I had the grilled cauliflower with hot sauce on the side. It was great. Good atmosphere. Fun place. A little loud. Expect to talk louder than normal.
Awesome Irish food! Excellent professional, friendly, and courteous customer service! Awesome, extremely well decorated, safe, clean, organized, cozy, private, out of plain sight environment! Customer parking is a challenge. Food doesn't take long to arrive at your table depending on how full the kitchen and restaurant is.
We absolutely love The Wicked Monk! When we have family and friends visiting, we take them here and they love it too. The food is delicious and there are plenty of drinks to choose from. The atmosphere is cozy and nice as well. During the Covid-19 ordeal they have really stepped it up! They have a take-out window with specials and offer delivery and the food and drinks are still yummy! We eat here probably 3-4 times per year and they are consistently great. Best restaurant in Bay Ridge!
The food here is phenomenal, especially their Mac and cheese’s. One of the nights I went they had a prime rib special and it was incredible too. Service is pretty good, staff is very nice. Going here is like an experience. The architecture and design is beautiful and does a great job at relishing it’s history as an Irish bar
I had wonderful with my classmates the day after our 50th class reunion. Great service, great food, superb drink
The service was amazing and we got served quickly plus the waiter was very nice
Food is great always..stuff is so nice...is too loud usually but still worth it
I was at Wicked Monk for a party and the accommodations were very nice. Cool atmosphere, nice decor, clean and the food was very good. Decent drink selection and the valet parking was slow but if I didn’t need to drive I would go back.
Pub and bar food at its ultimate Potato balls stuffed with corned beef Reuben Egg roll King Kong pretzel (house made jalapeño beer cheese will knock your socks off must have ) Buffalo cauliflower This is a neighborhood establishment with a great beer selection Burger and Buffalo Mac and cheese also notable highlights but tonight was beer and apps
First time here The food and drinks were delicious ..
The cheeseburger was the absolute best I've had in years. I'm always in search of a fantastic burger and this was it. The fries were also delicious and the onion rings as well. I loved the on tap specialty beer. Especially the pomegranate sour IPA. Would go back very soon to do it again.
This was my 1st time here. I was visiting from Ireland. The food was amazing. The staff friendly location was good. Would highly recommend
Best bar in Bayridge the staff is super friendly. The food is absolutely delicious because the chef is so on point! You can see management clearly knows what they’re doing as this place is well run. prices are reasonable especially considering we are in an inflated economy. It’s nice to get bang for your buck. and the dishes are always delicious. Absolutely worth it you will not be disappointed.
Best espresso martini I’ve ever tasted. Visit for sure
The waiter is awesome The busboy very attentive. My daughter and grandson loved the leek soup. I accidentally broke a glass and it was cleaned up with no fuss. Great original monastery decor with gargoyles, brick and stone blocks, wood from pews, and stained glass. A must for fantastic home type cooked food. Delicious.
Always a great time here. Amazing staff and environment. Update: We just had our daughter's first birthday party here and everyone was amazing. From the service to the hospitality. The food was outstanding, especially the short ribs. Everyone was talking about them. Also very affordable for a party of 50(ish).
Had a good time, atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, sports on the TV's, food was great, really enjoyed the Philly Mac and cheese, chicken pot pie and the big pretzel with cheese, the cheese that came with the pretzel was very delicious, good variety of beers on tap or bottle, would definitely go again.
Great local bar with a clean and comfortable vibe. Staff is always cool, attentive, friendly and welcoming to all. Lots of TVs, good size bar, lots of tables too. Food is good and fresh. Ruben egg rolls are a must try! Good list of quality brews always on tap and constantly adding new options.
I love this place. I haven't been here in a while since my brother moved from Bay Ridge and headed down south. Im in the nieghbohood checking out the Christmas lights in the area and we decided to go to the W.Monk. I wish the Band "HELLO BROOKLYN" was playing. That was a fun band to hear play
Family Dinning a it’s best! Thank you waitress Jenny, hostess, bus staff, and cooks! We had a fantastic family late lunch, kids menu, fish and chips, vegetarian sandwiches and lots of fries, delicious beer, ended with a lava cake for the little ones. Large Bathroom and main floor dining space. 5/5 for mobility and decor. Causal Dinning/Large plates/Small but tasty vegetarian selection.
This place is my go to when I’m in Brooklyn. The food and atmosphere are fantastic and I always leave impressed. The muscles are always my favorite.
Great pub atmosphere. Love the interior the stain glass and the statues. TV screens are everywhere, so a great place to watch the games! The Mac and cheese was 🔥. The burger was 👍 overall great time looking forward to going back! 😀
I have been popping into the Wicked Monk for years, food, pints, and vibes are always fab! But recently we hosted our post-elopement/wedding party here and I cannot recommend them enough as an event venue! Megan made the entire process so stress-free. They were on top of everything from working with the band we hired, to aligning on decor, making sure people could flow between rooms easily and get to the buffet. She made it easy for me and my husband to just show up and enjoy the night! The food was delicious, people are still commenting on it days later. Overall everyone had a great time and it's because of how easy the crew at Wicked Monk made everything. I would absolutely throw another party here but until then we'll just keep coming back for the general amazing vibes! Huge thank you to Wicked Monk though, made a memorable night even more perfect!
Really nice bar with tons of screens, food and a fun environment. Came on a sat and it was crazy packed for my friend birthday so it was a bit tough getting attention from the bartenders but overall it was a nice place to go. If you’re looking for a bustling place with tons of people, this is the place to be at.
Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. We checked this place out while visiting fort Hamilton and absolutely loved our time here. The staff took the time to give us some insight and suggestions in the neighborhood. Our kids really enjoyed the food and I loved the decor and ambiance.
It’s a lovely gem with a blurred segregation between restaurant and bar. Choose your own adventure. The medieval church aesthetic adds a unique experience with a great menu to match. Drink list is wide and impressive. Service has consistently been fast, attentive & kind. Great place for sports as well. There’s a few memorable Irish themed starters I’ve never seen elsewhere. Entree options with great classics makes it hard to choose. I had the Chicago style Italian beef recently and I couldn’t find a photo on google. It was amazing and I felt the need to provide pics for other patrons and hopefully that one stays on the menu. Best restaurant bar in bay ridge
I just came here today for brunch. Service and food was really good. My Bloody Monk was amazing and my Wicked Monk Hamburger Platter was tasty. Also, you really get your monies worth with the amount of food that is on the plate. The menu has a lot of good selections and prices are extremely reasonable. I liked the overall ambiance of this pub so I will definitely come again.
I would recommend a reservation. The tables filled up quickly. Service was very fast and a team effort. Multiple attentive people made sure our table was well cared for. The atmosphere is friendly and the bangers and mashed were delicious. The Mac and cheese dish is large and reportedly very good.
It was my first time visiting the Wicked Monk. I felt very comfortable and had an absolutely delightful dining experience. The religious church items on the wall was very special. The delicious fresh food pretty service. Drinks windy whale someone special. Wonderful band was playing there in the night. Billy was very friendly and had helpful staff. WiFi is available. Bathrooms is clean. Price is affordable. Free Gifts, Coat service was appreciative.
Went to see CatNip Live Music tonight at the Wicked Monk. They were incredible! The Wicked Monk is an amazing restaurant and live music venue with great food, atmosphere and staff!
FINALLY - I have been searching for 6 long months for a bar anywhere in NYC that serves my favorite drink: peanut butter & jelly shots. Last night, my wish was finally granted. Service was friendly, quick, and polite, crowd was calm (which I prefer over loud, crowded vibes). Kitchen was closed so didn’t get to try any food, unfortunately. Shots were perfect. My gin and tonic was balanced and professionally-crafted. Atmosphere was very cool, love the monk theme. Overall, had a great time, and would return again.
Grabbed a table on Friday night with no wait. They have a nice variety on the menu and we ended up getting the buffalo chicken wrap with a huge load of sweet potato fries and the wings with mashed potatoes on the side along with two drinks. The drinks were really good! Our waitress was super friendly and checked in on us multiple times even given how busy it was.
Really nice place to unwind. Good drinks, good food and friendly service; everything you can want in a neighborhood bar. Plenty of space around the bar, clean bathrooms and a comfortable, no-rush atmosphere. We liked it a lot. ♿️
I used to go to the old Monk a long time ago and loved it! This new version is a lot nicer and bigger and I had a great time, but I definitely miss the old one. If you never went to the old one than none of this matters and if you want a cool bar with stained glass windows in Bayridge than this is your spot!
Clean beer taps! a rarity in Bay Ridge. Good diverse beer selection as well. Good cocktails that aren't weak and watered down. Excellent food too. Had their Short rib toastie on a whim a week ago, not something I'd typically order, and it was fantastic. Friendly bartenders & staff. Couldn't ask for more really.
My family and I recently hosted a memorial luncheon for our mom at The Wicked Monk and it exceeded every expectation. From the incredible food to the truly exceptional customer service, this team delivered. I first met with Megan to discuss the details and immediately I felt supported and understood. She was sweet, helpful, and truly concerned with making sure we were all good — even though she wouldn’t be there on the day of the luncheon. She stayed in touch leading up to the event, checked in to ensure every question was answered, and made sure we were in great hands with Clara and Chris. Clara followed up with us right before the luncheon to make sure every detail was set. She truly knew the assignment — making sure all of our photos were displayed on the screens because she understood how important it was for us. Her attention and calm professionalism brought reassurance so we could focus on our guests. Chris — our bartender, go-to guy, and (as I later learned) the owner of this wonderful place — was the very definition of hospitality. From our very first phone call to the last moments of the luncheon, his “whatever you need” attitude was unwavering. He anticipated every need and ensured everything ran flawlessly, all while being friendly, engaging, and perfectly attuned to the tone of the day. And let’s not forget the food — absolutely fantastic! We’re a very picky Italian-Irish family, and the buffet was wonderful. Everyone kept talking about how much they enjoyed it, and we all agreed that my mom would have loved the meal and the warmth of the place. What could have been a difficult day was made warm, welcoming, and full of heart because of this incredible team. If you’re looking for a venue that delivers both amazing food and truly above and beyond service, The Wicked Monk is it. It’s also a wonderful spot for birthdays, showers, retirements, or any special celebration.
The Wicked Monk in Bay Ridge has a unique vibe, blending Irish pub coziness with monastery-style architecture. Stained glass and wooden details give it a charming, old-world feel. The menu is tasty and varied, with vegetarian options, and the bar has great beer and cocktails. Live music and big screens make it a fun spot to hang out with friends.
Wonderful, atmospheric Irish pub. Large selection of beers and delicious dishes, I really liked the steak. I also recommend the pretzel with Guinness. The interior feels like I'm in a castle, the stones and the painting on the ceiling are incredible. I especially liked the stained glass windows. The guys at the bar are very friendly, they can give you a taste of drinks to make the right choice. They pour Guinness correctly. The toilets are clean, the customers are always cultured people.
Fives all around. Stepped into a unique and amazing atmosphere. Dark wood and stained glass, huge open space but separate bar and dining area. The decor made me forget we were in Brooklyn, but the local support rang through. While we were there, I watched two locals waiting for take out. Both of them gave a wave to the bartender/manager on their way out and one employee said "see you tomorrow". Real neighborhood vibes. Two other patrons struck up some cheeky conversations with me. Very welcoming. Never got an "outsider" feel. Our server Lauren was awesome! Very pleasant and checked in with us at just the right times. She didn't flinch when I asked for a glass of milk. And when I inquired, she gave me some very detailed descriptions about upcoming special events and fun things at The Monk. Her genuineness could not be overlooked. She's been there for some time. She knew the story about dishes we asked about without hesitation. And she gave cheery banter to a local waiting for food. Again, good vibes! Cheers Lauren! I had the steak sandwich, which was freshly cooked then sliced to order. Not pre-cooked and reheated slices. My father got the potatoe balls which were amazing. Dont sleep on these guys! Both recommended. Unsweetened iced tea was FRESH, bright tasting. Like real brewed. Unlike other places. Cocktail and FULL Whisky menu. By the glass. And as someone who adores Jameson, I plan on spending a night in the near future going through some of the ones offered. Some I've never seen before. I'll also have to compare them to the wide array of other whiskeys on the menu. You know, to be fair :) I joked that if I lived locally I'd be there every night. Parking is Brooklyn street parking. There are two pay lots about 4/5 blocks away. But I noticed the street spots open more frequently than you'd think. It's all stores and small businesses on the block. All around great experience. I'm trying the wings next visit. Until next time Wicked Monk! Sainte! -Doc

I just moved in the area and I went into this restaurant because it's one of the closest places to my apt. The food is great and I like that they have a half pint option for their beers.

Very cute spot! Did not get to eat here but did drink. Good drinks, fun atmosphere. Adorable decor on the inside the place looks like a castle. I will definitely be returning to try the food.
Went here with a very large group, and they were very accommodating. Food was good, and drinks are very tasty.
I really enjoyed the fried calamari and shrimp. My son had the chicken pot pie which was delicious. Unfortunately for me I ordered the fish and chips which was undercooked and extremely greasy. We also ordered the lobster mac and cheese (excellent) and buffalo wings (very good). No waiting quick seating and serice. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
This restaurants interior is quite unique. Would almost give it 4 stars just for that. The food here is good quality. The wait staff was very attentive, at no point did we have to ask for anything, our waitress was already there taking our orders. The food selection could use more variety, but as for the options on the menu, they definitely have quality. The largest reason for not gaining the 5th star is do to the trouble finding a parking spot. The idea of driving for 35min to park 5 blocks from the restaurant isn't appealing on a 12°f day. Even with that said I would gladly come back here if ever in the neighborhood without a car.
Afternoon lunch service was attentive & fast, the place looked clean & orderly, and the bill was reasonable. I ordered a Guinness and a burger with bacon & cheddar, and it came out at the proper temperature and was pretty good. Not the best burger in Brooklyn, but it may be the best burger in Bay Ridge. Good job.
They have Excellent cocktails, very large space in front of the stage and nice atmosphere ! However, the band is extremely loud and it was not fun at all! Such a nice place but I don’t really understand why they keep this band!
This is one of my favorite pubs in the area because they have an awesome selection of craft beers. The staff isn’t super knowledgeable on the rotating selection, but it’s fine. The food is hit or miss, but the wings are always decent. Service is always friendly. Not the best place for sports, but not the worst either. Happy to have this spot in the neighborhood.
Great food!! The steak mac cheese was good! My long Island ice tea was strong! But need a waitress with more experience. We got dinner first then our appetizers came out last? And our dessert was missed up. But all this place was great.
Nice place! Been here a couple of times. Once for a holiday get together with co-workers and also another time to catch some live music. Bartenders have the drinks flowing and nothing but good vibes! Got the burger and fries and it hit the spot!
I came here for a happy hour with a few friends on Friday. The bar was busy but, spacious enough to enjoy dinner and drinks comfortably. The bar has a live band two times a week. I sat at the bar to enjoy the fried shrimp happy hour special for $10. They have a generous portion of shrimp with a delicious sauce. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I will definitely come back again for more shrimp!
We recently had the pleasure of dining at your establishment and were thoroughly impressed by the delightful ambiance and the array of enticing drinks that set the tone for a fun-filled evening. The food was delectable, and the atmosphere made our visit truly enjoyable. However, we encountered an issue with one of our orders—a medium-cooked burger that arrived rare. As a professional chef accustomed to preparing rare burgers, I found this to be undercooked. When we brought this to our server’s attention, the response was less accommodating than expected, offering only half a burger as compensation. This aspect of our experience was disappointing. We hold your restaurant in high regard and consider ourselves friends of the establishment. Our intention in sharing this feedback is to ensure that future visits are as impeccable as possible. We look forward to returning and hope that our next experience will reflect the high standards we have come to associate with your restaurant.
A nice spot to grab a bite, have a drink, and/or catch the game. Their mac and cheese is unique. I had the chicken and waffles with shrimp bisque (or some kind of seafood bisque, I forget exactly). Either eat it was all good eating. They also have good drink specials like Nitro Hot Choclate. The best way I could describe it is choclate Guinness. There was a staff issue with my friend but the manager handled it well. If I'm ever in the neighborhood I'll certainly stop in again.
We love wings and fries, cocktails are good, and the attention was cordial enough, without interruptions.
I had a great 4-star experience at The Wicked Monk! The atmosphere was a highlight, earning a solid 4-star rating for its unique vibe. Both the food and service were also good, each earning a 3-star rating. It is a wonderful local spot that I definitely recommend for a nice visit!
The restaurant/bar is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. They serve American/Irish cuisine. Dinner, lunch and brunch are available. The menu includes various starters/appetizers, soups, salads, macaroni and cheese, various breakfast items during brunch and drinks(alcoholic/non-alcoholic). I ordered the cheeseburger which included a generous portion of french fries, lettuce, tomato and pickle. The cheeseburger was thick and tasty. Friendly and helpful staff.
I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my family the food was good but it wasn’t great it was missing some seasoning but overall good. The atmosphere is amazing and the architecture is great. I really recommend it for families as well. Service was also good with live music playing most nights. I really recommend the bao buns and potatoes and leek soup.
I always passed wicked monk and wanted to stop in and finally did with my wife and friend last Saturday. I love there decor and the feel of old school wooden bar style, I got the fish and chips which I liked very much my wife got a burger with some fries and my friend got a broil style seafood mix that also looked good. For our appetizer we got a potato leak soup which for the first time having it I have to say taste excellent!!!! If your a craft beer connoisseur as I am this place also has some very good craft beer on tap. I definitely will be coming back to try something new next time

Labor Day weekend, and the place was basically quiet Saturday night with 16-20 customers... not even close to pre-COVID activity. It's a microcosm of current Fort Hamilton/Bay Ridge, which by 1:30AM …
There burgers are really good. The fries looked like they were refried so I didn't eat them. The lettuce for the hamburger was a leaf of the lettuce.. literally a leaf. We used to enjoy the Wicked burgers but I'll be staying away for a bit because it just wasn't worth the money.
The food is good. Had to keep flagging down the wait staff for everything after the initial order. Beer selection was sub-par serving predominantly IPAs ith Guinness being the only "Irish" option.
Went with a few coworkers on a Friday night and it’s a great place to go after a work week. It was pretty loud and difficult to hear my coworkers but what is to expect on a Friday night. The servers are very helpful. They clear your plates pretty quickly. Maybe since it was a Friday, we had to flag our server a couple times to get her attention. The food was ok. The tacos and wings were delicious. I got a the monk burger and it was good but very small compared to other bar burgers I’ve gotten. It was cooked to my order which I appreciated but was just very surprised at the size of my burger. All in all great experience.
I came here looking forward to sample the Shepherds Pie, it wasn’t what I was hoping for , it really looked good in presentation but I am sorry to say it wasn’t that good, it had very little meat and mostly just potatoes , and the taste was nothing to rave about. The fries were a little burnt and greasy. On the other hand the Fried Calamari with Shrimp was awesome 🤘with the sauce which was really good! Must say the ambience was pretty good and the music 🎶was excellent. Also the Guinness was top notch 👏
An extra, extra well done burger should be just that! Not pink in the inside. They took it back only to bring it back to me still raw! Then the third time it was still the same burger that I had put ketchup on the first time. That's nasty, they should have made me a new burger not bring the same one back n forth 3 times with burnt ketchup. Really disappointed ☹️
What can I say about this place. First of all about food; not bad and not good if describe it in one word so-so, it means i am not satisfied. Second of all I ordered coffee waitress brought spoiled milk with large clumps in milk. Also I want to mention about her service, seemed like she was in a bad mood. She had a bad attitude when she took the order. Furthermore SHE wasn't polite, threw the straw on the table. I just want to say i will never go to this place again.
We’ve been to this place a couple of times and the food was okay, but our last visit was truly disappointing. We ordered a burger and a steak—the burger, fries, and onion rings were burned, the whole meal was very dry, and the steak was extremely tough to cut and chew. It definitely wasn’t medium; it was closer to well-done. Consistency is what makes a restaurant reputable, so this experience really let us down. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it to my friends, which is especially disappointing given how highly rated this place is.

The food is crap! The service is crap! over priced! Canned dog food would've been better!
Wow. Probably the only negative google review I will ever give... So I make a reservation and follow up for hew years and they tell me that they do not take a reservation. They tell me to walk in. I even tell them the time we will be walking in and they say that time is fine with a roughly 30-40 minute wait. We walk in and I kid you not the very same woman on the phone tells us that they do not do walk ins because they are booked with reservations! You cannot make this stuff up. Absolutely atrocious service. I lament for the amazing chefs that cook here. The service is an abomination among abominations.
The place is very dirty. While we were there to see a band. We want earlier to have dinner. While we were waiting for our food . A big roach Appeared crawling on our table. We Immediately called the waitress and cancel our order. The waitress did not seem to care about the ROACH. AS IF IT'S NORMAL. We lost our appetite.. on top of that all . After the band started. A fight broke out with two guys . The bouncers pulled them apart and threw them both out in the front to continue fighting. Absolutely not professional. My husband is a bouncer part-time. And the normal procedure is you break it up. Throw one out, hold 1 inside for a little while. Until things come down for the safety of both guys . and then you ask the one that still in their to leave after the other guy goes away or take him out through the back . So that way things to not escalate. Very poor training , very unprofessional. And dirty. I do not recommend this place ....
The vibe of this place is really cool, but unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the food. We waited forever for our order 🫢. The fried calamari and shrimp were extremely overcooked—almost burnt. The buffalo chicken wrap was impossibly spicy, and no one warned us about it. The salmon and burger were just okay. The burger came with no sauce and was cooked well-done instead of medium-well. I did ask about the chicken sandwich with crispy chicken, and that one was just good. As for the service… the waitress seemed to have an attitude for some reason—we’re not sure why. Overall, this restaurant has a great vibe, but it really deserves better food and service to match it.
Im lactose intolerant so I ordered medium rear burger WITHOUT cheese. They gave me medium rear burger WITH cheese. I kindly apologized for trouble but asked them that this order was wrong. They took it back. Then, chef came out and put the plate in front of me very loudly and with rude attitude. When I took my first bite I noticed that it was literally raw, raw ground beef which was completely unsafe to consume. I, again, apologized and showed them how meat looked like. They took it back without any complains. It was chef again who brought me a new burger and it looked like this (please see attached), he was much angrier this time and literally smashed the plate in front of me. Im extremely disappointed and upset because of this inhumane and hostile treatment. I was not able to eat the burger obviously out of this horrible experience and I also had to pay the full bill…
Food is dry and has needs more flavor, I ordered the wings and it was so dry
I’ve been coming to the Monk for many years and have never had an issue, which is why this experience stood out. My friend and I paid the $10 cover and went to the bar to order two beers. Before I could even speak, the bartender (long black hair in a ponytail) abruptly told us that the nearby seat was taken. That was completely fine — we weren’t attempting to sit. When my friend slightly adjusted the chair just to lean against the bar for a moment, the bartender returned and began raising her voice, saying she had already told us the seat (and apparently the surrounding area) was taken. The tone and delivery were unnecessarily aggressive. We were respectful, paying customers simply trying to order drinks. There was no reason for the interaction to escalate the way it did. Basic courtesy and professionalism should be a given when people are choosing to spend money at your establishment. Who you put behind the bar matters.
Used to love this place and come out here often with my friends. Tonight however the bar tender with white hair and round glasses actively refused to serve us three waters after ordering beers. Silliest experience i ever had in a NYC bar. Came in with three friends and two ordered beers. “No im not gonna serve you waters. Go to the deli. Dont get waters unless you arent drinking” Ok fine let me get two waters. “No you cant have that because you are costing the bar tap water money” (?????????)
Nothing worse than paying a premium price for a meal that feels like a workout for your jaw! The steak was a total disaster. I ordered it medium but it came out closer to well-done. Even worse, it was so incredibly tough that I actually felt like I needed a gym session just to cut through it! I was exhausted by the time I finished cutting and chewing. You see it drown in sauce it’s clearly to hide the poor quality of the meat. As for the burger, we asked for well-done not actual charcoal! The patty was burnt and so were the fries and the bun. The sandwich was so bone-dry it literally gets stuck in your throat you need a coke just to swallow it. Everything was super dry, overcooked, and definitely way too pricey for this kind of quality, I’ve been here before , the quality dropped significantly
