I absolutely love this place! It’s my must-visit spot every time I’m in NYC. We ordered fresh oysters, miso soup, a salad with ginger dressing, shrimp tempura, the Love Boat, a tuna roll, and a salmon roll — everything was fantastic. The oysters and sashimi were incredibly fresh, and the ginger dressing added a bright, refreshing touch that perfectly complemented the meal. This restaurant never disappoints! Even my picky-eater kid couldn’t get enough of the shrimp tempura and miso soup. I also love the cozy atmosphere and the beautiful new decor — it makes the dining experience even better.
We love Sapporo so much. As longtime residents of the neighborhood we have been coming at least twice a month for many years. Somehow it just keeps getting better. If you care about quality sushi and a cozy setting, this place is for you. Plus the service and price can’t be beat!
This is a Greenpoints staple it’s been here for at last 25 years and it’s always been excellent!!!! -that’s why it’s still here !! i’ve seen many celebrities drop in for takeout or sit in the backgarden… if you’re here for dinner, you may enjoy free sake……..
Amazing sushi! Everything was super fresh and beautifully presented. The sushi boat looked stunning and tasted even better. Great service and cozy atmosphere, definitely coming back!
I really loved this place! The fish was super fresh and tasty, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was great. The staff were so nice and friendly, which made the experience even better. I’d definitely come back again
Frankie my brother has been making the best sushi in Brooklyn for many years I been going here since 2013. He is the best and always family to me. Thank you always my brother Frankie for the Orange Clam. From your brother Mike Nitty 💯💯💯
★★★★★ Absolutely the best sushi in Greenpoint! Sapporo Ichiban is a true gem on New York’s culinary map! Located at the corner of Manhattan Ave and Nassau Ave, you can feel the special atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The owner, Franke, is passionate about his craft and takes great care of every customer, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. The ingredients are always fresh, and the presentation is simply outstanding! Every piece of sushi is prepared to perfection, with flavors that blend harmoniously into a true feast for the senses. If you want to experience the authentic taste of sushi, you absolutely must visit Sapporo Ichiban. It’s a magical place that will keep you coming back for more!
Best sushi period. Been coming here over 20 years. I've tried other places but no others ever really come close.
Popped into this quiet neighbourhood Japanese restaurant after a swim and was very pleasantly surprised. Big plates of sushi, thoughtfully put together at a decent price. The deluxe platter was the highlight, featuring some hefty pieces of fresh fish.
Amazingly fresh and portion is big. Definitely a good place for gathering dinner. Love it and highly recommended.
This restaurant is amazing! The fish is super fresh and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. On top of that, the staff are extremely friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!
The best sushi! It’s so fresh and the quality of the fish is always the best. They definitely don’t cheap out on the cuts, they’re huge! The service is amazing and they give free sake with a minimum purchase. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten there and always make a point to go when I’m in town.
The place looks really nice, the chairs are comfy, the servers are fast and friendly, the food tasted really nice and for all I spent it was affordable. Keep in mind that the wasabi here is really spicy compared to other restaurants I've been to.
As a sushi lover, after eating my chirashi bowl delivery I’m upset I haven’t tried this place sooner. Wow it was generous: a real chirashi bowl with LOTS of fish and variety, including o-toro and mackerel. Excellent value and taste. Super fresh. Please keep it up. This was amazing and will be my go-to for sushi cravings. Worth the delivery, which was fast. Bondi, samurai mama, ten-ichi, and mizu have nothing on this joint. It IS a more expensive bowl, comparatively, but for what it is, a very satisfying meal.
Absolutely love Sapporo Ichiban. The food is consistently fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed dinner where you can actually enjoy your conversation. And the Valentine Roll is outstanding. The balance of flavors and textures is spot on, with incredibly fresh fish and just the right touch of sauce. It’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Honestly, this is the only sushi spot I go to — specifically because of the Valentine Roll. It keeps me coming back every time. You can really tell they care about quality and detail. Always such a lovely experience.
#1 Sushi Spot In Brooklyn! The food, service & atmosphere is always consistent. Great experience dining here, it feels like home. Going on 10 Years + as a customer. Haven't been there in years! Always a Terrific experience for indulgence par excellence. The freshest, tastiest fish and extras to start... So glad it's still available for more culinary adventures in the very near future... Who can't resist the complimentary Sake, hot, perfect temperature, naturally so...
Tørst is a must-visit! We had to change our reservation last minute due to traffic, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. The extensive beer selection is incredible, and the cocktails are just as great. We were blown away by the food. Everything was amazing and came out to the table super fast. Great vibes, delicious drinks, and top-tier service. We'll definitely be back!
I had heard about Torst as being a neighborhood wine bar with great food to order before arriving in Brooklyn, so I knew it had to be one of the first places I visit! *Spoiler Alert*... I was not disappointed AT ALL!! First impressions: it's a bit of a compact space, but there's also plenty of tables/seating to choose from....although it does fill in fast!! We came relatively early around 4pm, so we were able to take advantage of some of their Happy Hour prices, including: $14 Fried Chicken Sandwich $10 Cocktails, including the Frozen Espresso Martini I also got the Smash Burger and the Yuzu Sake, which weren't included in the Happy Hour. You order your food & drinks at the bar, but they bring the food out to wherever you're sitting once it's ready. As for the cocktails, they were both great!! The Frozen Espresso Martini was very creatively presented and I enjoyed the look and taste of it. The Yuzu Sake was strong and great quality! For the food, both the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Smash Burger were delicious!! The Fried Chicken Sandwich especially tasted so unique and creative with the sauce on it, but I also just really loved the solid burger and could tell it had excellent quality. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Torst, and I highly recommend stopping by to grab some of their food and drinks!
One of my favorite bars over the past few years. Their beers are always top notch and there's something for everyone - even those non-beer drinking friends. The atmosphere is chill and more like a neighborhood bar but the aesthetics and details like the gorgeous glassware gives this place a more upscale feel. There's a backroom you can reserve for private events and the food is fantastic. Great staff as well!
This is one of my favorite bars in Greenpoint. Insane tap list. Such a cool vibe inside. Can sometimes be a bit too crowded, since the inside is a tad small, but on off-hours there is tons of space. Always fun to get seasonal Maine Beer Company on tap. Lovely spot. Bartenders are very knowledgeable. Also, they have much more than just beer, at the delight of my partner. Will keep coming back!
I had an amaziiing experience hosting a private event at Tørst, the biggest gathering I've ever organized for about 40 of my friends!!! The vibe was amazing, the staff was incredibly kind and friendly, and they served our catering promptly and smoothly. The whole event was a success, and I’m so grateful we chose to have it there! Oh, and their fried chicken sliders catering was sooo good!! Still thinking about it now hahahah 😆 Would visit again and highly recommend hosting your private events there!!
Got to try both the Alchemist Dark and Light side by side — absolute treat. Beautifully balanced beers in one of the best-designed bar spaces I’ve seen. The vibe here is dialed: clean, modern, but still warm and welcoming. Service was great, picked up a couple of Alchemist stickers, and left already thinking about the next visit. If you care about beer, this place should be on your list.
The place is full of European Vibe!! The decoction is super simple but elegant. They have 21 variety of taps and a lot of Great wine and beer. I just love the dim light and music with good taste of drinks. Bartender in there is super friendly and make you feel comfortable. I just feel like love it.
Ate here with friends for my birthday and it was incredible. The staff was so friendly. We sat in doors and I felt perfectly safe because of their Covid prevention policies. We had the burger, the fried chicken and the pastrami and all of them were cooked to perfection and each tasted just as good as the other. The beer nuts were not great, but other than that, amazing. I will be returning.

I love that this place is a beer hall - with communal seating and casual fare - but has an elevated ambiance and high quality food and drink. Best of both worlds!

We had a blast here. Good beer. Fun vibes. Food was OK, the pretzel was delicious - I would pass on the crab dip next time!

I wish I took pictures of the food. It's such a lowkey spot with beers on tap and friendly service. \n\nThe chicken sandwich and the burger were 5 stars. Would come back soon.

Small restaurant but very cute. The food is good. The lunch specials are amazing and there are several choices. I had the Shrimp Teriyaki Combo which includes Miso soup, Salad, Rice, Roll and Shumai. It was very tasty. The service is ok. My only complaint is that after the meal was finished, the server didn't bother to ask if we would like dessert. We weren't going to get any but it is the norm to ask. Other than that, I enjoyed the experience.
I ordered out from Sapporo Ichiban because I could not go out. Food came faster than I expected. I went to eat at the place long time ago and other than that I only got deliveries. About the quality of fishes, the price should be lower than this, but I understand the cost of living in Greenpoint, so I look over it. My order was..... - Shoyu Ramen: broth with braised pork belly, egg, shredded, wood-ear mushroom, bamboo shoots and fish cakes. 6/10 - Mixed Seafood Salad: Shrimp, Octopus, Squid, Kani with spring mix. 6/10 - Manhattan Roll: Spicy crunchy salmon roll, tuna, salmon and avocado on top. 6/10 - Tuna Jalapeno Roll: Small 8 pcs 8/10 - Bonzai Tree: Crab avocado, caviar, ebi wrapped with cucumber. 7/10 The score I gave are quality/price/and taste. I can say if you want to eat take out quality sushi in a budget, Sapporo will be another choice that isn't too bad.
Interesting craft beer bar in Greenpoint. My friend and I actually not a fan of beer but somehow, we give a chance to try. They also have small menu of cocktails and wine with some promotion (you have to check on somewhere in the menu.) The bartenders are friendly and love to talk if you have any question about their beer even wine. I try ANOMALOUS (frozen) very sweet, a glass of Red (chilled) Uivo Renegado. I couldn't believe they in business for 9 years, every time I pass by this place I always feel this bar is new.

Has everything you could ask for! Massive beer selection on tap, great staff, hipster vibes, ice cold a/c in the boiling and humid NY summer, and tasty bites.

I’ve been coming here over the last 6 years, sometimes have my business meet ups here. It was always an easy go spot- good lunch deals. However I was left pretty disappointed with an experience there. We chose this spot to celebrate my 13year old for his birthday, who loves sushi and wanted fried fish very cream for his birthday. We sat in the garden and ordered a bunch of rolls appetizers and an order of fried rice. Veggie fried rice. The fried rice came when the sushi was just about done, but one bite and it was soooo spicy none of my kids could eat it. I was confused because it’s just fried rice. Turns out it had jalepeños in it. Not a typical ingredients in fried rice and one I would’ve definitely flagged since I cannot eat jalapeños or any pepper for that matter. Not only do I have a nightshade sensitivity. I have a pollen allergy that limits me from eating most fruits. Again something I’ve been able to navigate very well for the past 20 years. When none of the fried rice was eaten on the waitress came over I said we cannot eat it this because it has jalapeños in it it’s really spicy. Can we just get the dessert menu?and her reply was well you should’ve told me beforehand “ i said, but it didn’t list that there was jalapeños. He brings over the menu and she points to small lettering that says list your allergies. And I said I get that and I have lots of allergies too much to list. Whether I’m very careful what I order and I’ve never had fried rice that was made with jalapeños, unless it was a specialty rice and it listed you guys should be listing this unusual ingredient. She replies well we can’t take it off the bill. So I reply I’m not paying for this She goes back I guess to speak to the manager and she comes back and she says well we’ll remake it for you At that point, I’m frustrated. I said I don’t want you to remake it and I don’t want dessert just cancel. I paid I tipped her. And I’m so turned off to go back to the space that are so incredibly petty. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry a long time. My husband is a chef and I’ve never. when I arrived at the restaurant and sat down, they were three other tables every table had carafes with lemon cucumber water and she brings us instead 5 cups of regular tapwater so I said can we have the cucumber lemon water everybody else has. It’s important to know we’re the only obvious Latino family there, everyone else being white and it’s hard to think that this wasn’t a race thing. I was most upset that we went here to celebrate my son’s 13th birthday and we didn’t even get to have dessert and sing happy birthday to him.
Completely respect tipping for good service as the staff works hard. 20% gratuity on large groups included I absolutely support, and most spots are transparent about this...\n\nHave never been at…
I’ve been to this bar many times and have always loved the beer selection and food. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience on a Sunday night. I was standing at the counter waiting to pay, but the bartender repeatedly served people who arrived after me. I waited for about 30 minutes and tried to get her attention several times, but I was ignored. This has been one of my favorite bars, which made the experience especially disappointing.
I don’t leave many reviews but when I came to the bar Sunday around 10pm, with a posted closing time of midnight, the bartender made us extremely uncomfortable and said she could serve us one beer, making it clear she wanted us to leave instead. Great bar generally, but this bartender has me reconsidering whether I’d give them my business again.
