Sitio espectacular, trato exquisito.
Volveremos!
I went to dinner last night and it was a very, very good choice, the portions were abundant and taking into account the quality-price ratio, you won't eat Iberian ham croquettes as delicious as the ones they offer. We also ordered rib-eye steak and a cachopo of sole stuffed with seafood and the truth is that we were delighted. The waiter, seeing that I couldn't finish the cachopo of sole, offered to take it away without saying anything to me, when in many places they give you a dirty look or even charge you for the container.
La Tonada de la Guía was a great choice. Today I had the pleasure of visiting this cider house in Gijón with a group of 21 people, and the experience was very good. From the moment we walked in, the service was first-rate. Our waitress, attentive and extremely pleasant, did a fantastic job helping us split the bill, something always appreciated when paying individually. Her helpfulness and kindness were crucial. As for the food, every dish was a success. The mixed grills of fish and seafood were plentiful and made with fresh, quality ingredients. Special mention goes to the octopus, which was spectacular and delicious, and the grilled squid, which were also delicious. The mixed salads were fresh and a good accompaniment. We also had the opportunity to try the hake casserole, a dish that stood out for its homemade flavor. And, of course, we couldn't miss the cachopos. They offer different options, and all were perfectly cooked, accompanied by crispy fries and even, in some cases, with the original roasted apple topping, which went perfectly. To round out the experience, we enjoyed good wines, coffees, shots, and liqueurs, as well as delicious homemade desserts that were very tasty. All this for an average price that ranged between 35 and 50 euros per person, a more than reasonable figure considering the quality and quantity of what we enjoyed. The only minor drawback we found was that the cider, although served in a very original way and beautifully presented from the wall (first photo), arrived at the table rather lukewarm rather than cold. However, when we requested it colder, they didn't hesitate to do everything possible to please us. For lovers of well-poured cider at the perfect temperature, like my husband, this is something to keep in mind. In short, La Tonada de la Guía is a cider house that has almost everything: excellent food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for any occasion!
The owner was very attentive; we were a large group and they accommodated us without any problem, despite a mistake in the reservation. The food was delicious and varied, and they gave us excellent recommendations. It's also in a quiet area, has three floors, and serves Asturian cuisine as well as grilled food.
A truly authentic Asturian experience from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff makes you feel right at home. The waiters are incredibly attentive, quick, and always making sure you have everything you need—it's a pleasure to receive such excellent service. The food was spectacular: delicious non-alcoholic cider, a very original hanging skewer, perfectly cooked meat, and an amazing dessert. We'll definitely be back!
Very interesting place, stumbled across it...
Cozy little restaurant with very nice waiters and excellent food - whether small or large - simply delicious. Once i had fresh fish - which was delicious. Also I've tried the traditional cachopo - which was huge but it was buttery tender and simply delicious. The shrimp were also excellent. ... For dessert, I can absolutely recommend grandma's cake.
Great food and service.

(Review November 2025) On our way to La Laboral, we stopped for lunch at La Tonada. We arrived on a Saturday at midday without a reservation, in November, mind you, and had no problem. One great thing is that the place is very close to El Molinón stadium, and we were able to park the car very easily; just cross the Piles River and you'll find the cider house. We ate on the ground floor, at the tables near the windows. The first thing that greets you upon entering is a large aquarium with crabs and other marine creatures, waiting to be tasted. The menu is extensive, with a mix of everything: starters, baby squid (grilled, fried, stewed...), mussels, Tortos (corn cakes), octopus (Galician style, grilled, with prawns...), salads, stews, Cachopos (breaded and stuffed veal or pork cutlets), rice dishes, fish and grilled dishes, seafood, and grilled meats; very extensive and varied, it's impossible not to find something you like. We ordered dishes as we felt hungry, and started with grilled scallops, €21 (10 pieces, delicious but a bit tough and arrived almost cold); we continued with fried monkfish, €23 (freshly made, piping hot, super tender and juicy, spectacular, highly recommended); and we finished with grilled prawns, €22 (10 pieces, very large and also delicious); all washed down with 3 bottles of natural cider, €3.70 per bottle, which they pour for you. Friendly service throughout. For dessert, we had Grandma's Cake (6€, delicious); and of course, Death by Chocolate (5.50€, spectacular). The whipped cream was a shame, it was from a can, but oh well. Coffee was 1.60€. The food is good, and they have a very varied menu.
We went for lunch to have a traditional "Cachopo" a traditional Asturian delicacy that has experimented a revival in the latest years (it consists of two large, thin veal fillets, which are sandwiched together with slices of Spanish cured ham (typically jamón Serrano) and cheese (often Asturian varieties like Cabrales or other local cheeses). The assembled “sandwich” is then breaded by dredging in flour, dipping in beaten egg, and coating with breadcrumbs before being deep-fried until golden and crispy) we also were fool enough to order a salad. Rations were huge and very tasy Service effective and although it seem a little bit "dry" at the start of the service, then they prove to be effective and nice
We were lucky to get a seat. The first server told us there were no available tables and walked away, which wasn't very friendly. However, we stood around for a bit, and luckily, a second server came to help us. He was super friendly and kind, found us a table, and provided us with menus (the first server had said there were no menus). What a difference in experience and service! We ordered the octopus and entrecôte, both of which were delicious. The food quality was excellent. The wine was also very nice. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality (total around 65 euro with 4 glasses of wine). I highly recommend this place, but you need to be lucky to meet the right person for good service.
A very typical Asturian place to have a quick drink or a meal. With the drink that you order, they give you free "tapas" which are very good and varied. The menu is good and quite pocket friendly. The only downfall is that, due to the amount of people, sometimes the place can be very crowded and you can struggle to fit comfortably. Also there is a lack of seating if you want to have a drink.
We went because of chef Chicote's recommendation for his fabada (Asturian bean stew). The place has a nice decor, but in my opinion, the tables are too close together. As for the fabada, it was quite average, nothing exceptional. They only have Mahou beers. The staff were attentive.
