I absolutely loved my 50th birthday breakfast at Solbar before indulging in the Calistoga mud bath experience! Five stars, hands down. Easy reservation, great property and grounds, and lovely ambiance at the restaurant. I checked the menu ahead of time and really wanted both the duck confit benedict and lemon ricotta pancakes, so I told Chris, the server, about that and asked to check if they can do half the pancake order. Little did I know that Chris already had something special cooking - he brought out the little lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry sauce, real maple syrup and a birthday-engraved chocolate piece in addition to my duck confit! Delightful! Very impressed and grateful, definitely recommend this Michelin-star experience and will come back for dinner!
We absolutely love Solbar! As locals, this has become one of our go-to spots throughout the year. No matter the season, Solbar consistently delivers an amazing experience. Whether we’re stopping in for a relaxed breakfast, a casual lunch, or a lively dinner with friends and family, the food is always on point. We’ve truly experienced it all here: morning coffee and breakfast with your partner on a peaceful day, lunch in the sunshine, and dinner gatherings that turn into long, memorable evenings. It’s one of those rare places that does every part of the day well. The quality is consistent, the ingredients always feel fresh, and the menu offers something for everyone. What keeps us coming back, though, is not just the food but the overall atmosphere. It’s welcoming yet elevated, making it perfect for both special occasions and spontaneous visits. And the drinks are just as impressive as the food whether it’s a well-crafted cocktail, a great glass of wine, or something seasonal, they always deliver. Solbar is one of those dependable gems you’re grateful to have as a local. We’ll continue to recommend it and keep coming back again and again.
My wife and I ate here for dinner and had a fantastic experience. We had a couple different glasses of wine and our waiter was amazing at walking us through different samples of wine before we landed on ones we liked. The choices were great. We were on our honeymoon and the waiter brought out complimentary glasses of rose sparkling wine which was delicious. We started with the beef tartar, the crudo, and sourdough rolls— each was delicious and a great start. Our main dishes were the pumpkin risotto and short rib, both delicious as well. The short rib was so tender it melted in my mouth. We ended with a toffee cake that was delicious and hit the spot. The staff was incredible the entire time. Our waiter (I think Laura?) was amazing and even gave us a few recommendations on places to try during our visit, which we did!
We decided to stay in Calistoga for a week after we got married and were recommended Solbar by a friend. We visited for breakfast, sat outside (we had a dog) and really enjoyed it. I got the chilaquiles with chorizo which were out of this world! I want to go back and try dinner or lunch.
Stumbled upon Solbar while exploring the Napa Valley area. Ambience is very nice both inside and outside. It was our first time and we had a fantastic experience thanks to our server Kelly who was warm, friendly, and an absolute pleasure to interact with. Thank you for the amazing service and we hope to come back soon!
Have been here several times. The food and service are always excellent. The sommelier N is very knowledgeable and friendly each time. Casual setting outdoor setting, with high end vibe on food. Beautiful plates with enough to eat as well. Micheal the server is also fantastic! Laura is excellent Everytime too. She was so patient with us on a recent visit with two new friends. Very knowledgeable and fun!
Our group ordered a host of different dishes and all were amazing. There sourdough bread + butter was creamy and tasty. While it is less traditional in that there wasn’t a crunchy crust, I enjoyed it a lot. The whipped avocado dip was also amazing. Vegetables were very fresh, and the avocado and nuts were so delicious. The presentation was neat too with it being like a little garden. My main was the black cod. It was recommended to me by my group who have been here several times and I love it now too. It’s a very japanese style dish with the flavors. The cod is delicate and soft while the vegetables and rice are wonderful too Had the lemon cake desert which was extremely light, perfect for spring/summer weather. It was almost like a cheesecake in this. Loved the mint and strawberry flavors together. I definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice. The view is amazing with a mountain backdrop, a pool in the foreground, flowers and trees all under shaded umbrellas
Solbar was recommended to me by a friend. I had no idea it is part of a resort, which looks quite lovely by the way. I’d love to come back and stay here. I dined solo at the bar and had the pleasure of interacting with Carly, Haleigh and Kelly - each were kind, attentive, helpful and a genuine delight to talk with. I had a few things on the menu and enjoyed them all: Autumn (mushroom) soup, chopped salad with shaved brussel sprouts (my favorite), Denver steak - a bit chewy for my liking but excellent flavor, and the hazelnut/chocolate dessert - delish! I also had the spicy margarita which was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. And of course all the wine pairings matched the meals perfectly. This is a great date place! Ambiance and service are fantastic! I can’t wait to go back, next time hopefully with a date! 🙂
This was my third time to come here for brunch and it again didn’t disappoint. It came on sunny weekday where it wasn’t too crowded and was seated outside. The service was great . Everything what we ordered was amazing . We had Wagyu burger , ceviche and fish tacos. The burger was so juicy and had perfect balance between fat and acidity of sauce. If you are visiting Calistoga, I highly recommend this place for brunch !
Stopped by this little gem on our adventure in Napa. Everyone was so nice and courteous. We got an awesome table for our party of 9 overlooking the pool. The servers were super courteous and helpful. So polite. The lunch menu was fairly simple with salads and sandwiches and fish tacos. Of course their was a big wine and drink menu. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which was nicely presented with a small bowl of fries. My wife ordered the BLT and was raving about the heirloom tomatoes. Definitely a nice lunch place to visit in between your wine tasting tours in Napa!
Best blackened cod. The soup broth was amazing. But the real miracle was the miso carrot dip and garden fresh vegetables
Wow, very impressed with the food! The 48 hrs roasted short rib was out of this world. Everything is very fresh, flavors are amazing with a focus on high quality ingredients. Big thank you to the chef! And this Michelin star restaurant is located in the charming Solage. Definitely not to be missed if you are in Calistoga.

We came here for my mom's 89th birthday tonight, and everything was great. I had short Ribs and french onion soup, and the french onion soup was the best I ever had. It had a whole onion baked into the cup , surrounding the soup. The service was very timely and the staff was super friendly.

I LOVE this place. It is California cool, your glass is never empty, and dishes are delicious and executed beautifully. These are pictures from dinner but we've dined here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner multiple times because of which just know the menu doesn't really change but then again why change a good thing? Hot tip- they make their own hot sauce and it is yum!

The standout aspect of this restaurant is the food. Absolutely delicious dishes clearly made with high quality ingredients. It’s amazing. The atmosphere is romantic and charming with the patio dimly lit and outdoor heaters available for guests. This is not a “quick bite” experience so give yourself time to experience each course. The Sonoma Coast Pinot was the perfecting pairing for the beef short rib.
Solhouse X Fly By Jing serves some of the best Chinese food we’ve had! The service was top-notch, and reservations are highly recommended. We arrived 30 minutes early, and they were kind enough to accommodate us. Their signature sauces were unique and delicious—we enjoyed all three. Everything we ordered stood out and was full of flavor. The dumplings are a must-try, especially the spicy ones (flavorful, not overwhelmingly hot). The boneless wings, chili crab noodles, sake, mocktails, and dessert were all excellent. A fantastic experience overall—highly recommend!
Tried both breakfast and dinner here for our stay. Very nice food and wine too. I personally loved breakfast more. Try the lobster omelette- so good. Coffee was so so. I guess that is not what they optimize for.
Wow this was my second time eating here on Christmas eve. Last tim is was declious but this time it left my jaw dropped. We ordered the “canned” tuna, parker house sourdough bread rolls, my dad got the chicken and i shared the black cod and halibut with my mom. It was the best cod and halibut i’ve ever had! i almost licked the bowl. And our server Alejandro was fantastic, very attentive and knowledgeable, and helped curate a perfect evening. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

We dined as a party of 6 on 9/22. This was our second visit to Solar and we had Laura as our server each time. She was a delight, making great wine recommendations for our food orders and providing attentive service. She recommended the Poggi wine and we were surprised to have the owners serve their wine for both bottles we ordered. They were passionate advocates of their wine and a lovely couple. All around, it was an excellent experience and our thanks to Laura and the entire staff. Mark
Solbar is a beautiful spot tucked into Napa Valley perfect for a relaxing, elevated lunch in between wine tastings. The setting is calm and peaceful, which we really appreciated. You could actually hear each other talk which is rare and refreshing these days. I popped in with two girlfriends for a late lunch, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was warm, attentive, and helpful with the menu. We ordered a variety of dishes to share: the lettuce wraps were fresh and flavorful, the sourdough rolls with spinach dip hit the spot, and the fish tacos were light and delicious. We also shared drinks and the “Lite Lunch,” which was a fun way to sample a few things. The only miss unfortunately a big one were the Solbar Nuggets. They came out overly greasy and just weren’t edible. None of us could get through them, and that was disappointing, especially at this price point. What left an even worse taste in our mouths (no pun intended) was that our server acknowledged the issue and wanted to comp them, but management refused. For a nearly $200 lunch, that lack of flexibility felt out of step with the rest of the experience. Great service, beautiful setting, mostly solid food but that one moment really stuck us.
Dined late night outside. Hardly anyone there. Very relaxing, service was very good. The food was good. Great for a late night relaxing date night.

The wait staff is lovely. Very attentive. The food however was underwhelming. This restaurant is supposedly Michelin rated. To be fair, my expectations were high. I started with a cocktail. The flavor profile was strange. It was gin based with thyme and an apricot jam. It was not my favorite. We started with 3 shared appetizers . The shrimp appetizer was shrimp on a bed of butter lettuce with asian inspired glass noodles/vermicelli. This was delicious. There was an additional house salad with a house made buttermilk ranch dressing. The dressing lacked flavor. It was bland. The third appetizer was burrata with sliced and diced heirloom tomatoes and pesto. Again, just underwhelming. The tomatoes were delicious, but the dish was not very inventive. For our entree we were given a choice between fried fish tacos, a "wagyu beef" Reuben and a caeser salad. A caeser salad?!!? As an entree option in a Michelin rated restaurant. The fried fish tacos were good, but nothing spectacular. The Reuben was good but a tad over salted. the Reuben came with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was way too creamy and had a strange fishy finish. Fish sauce? Anchovies in the sauce? Not sure. More of the same with dessert. Not bad, but very mainstream. Setting was beautiful. Service was great. Just not a fan of the meal.

My daughter requested lunch at Solbar while we were in Calistoga for a mother-daughter trip. We ordered the lobster rolls, the Parker Rolls, the Brussels & Pear salad and drinks. The salad came and it tasted as if there was little or no dressing on it but the real disappointment came with the warm lobster rolls which came cold and smothered in Hollandaise sauce which was tasteless. The Parker rolls were the only thing that I can recommend. We ate the salad but sent the lobster rolls back. The replacement rolls were not much better. What a disappointment and when it was brought to the attention of the restaurant, nothing was done except to say it would be relayed to management. Wish we would have gone to the Four Seasons again instead of Solage. The Four Seasons meal we had was excellent. No comparison here. Don't waste your time or money at Solbar.

We were excited to try Solbar given its Michelin reputation, but I’m honestly glad we switched our dinner reservation to breakfast—because even that was a letdown. From the start, service felt rushed. Our server walked away mid-order, drinks took forever, and when we asked about the menu, no one seemed to know much. For a Michelin-rated restaurant, that was disappointing. The crab cake Benedict was the biggest miss—bland, puréed, and missing the fresh, lumpy texture real crab should have. The bacon tasted nuked, while the donut holes were the only highlight—warm, fluffy, and delicious. Then came the wait: another 30 minutes just to pay. Staff seemed more focused on setting up for the next shift than serving the guests still there. The table behind us waited even longer just to order. We also mentioned we were celebrating a birthday—the host even acknowledged it at check-in—but when another table across from us celebrated, they got complimentary donuts and a candle while we got nothing. It’s not about the freebie; it’s about consistency and care, which was clearly missing. To top it off, breakfast for three totaled $183. For that kind of price, you’d expect a memorable meal and thoughtful service. Instead, it was a bland experience that felt rushed, indifferent, and completely overhyped. Beautiful setting, sure—but definitely not worth the visit, not Michelin-worthy, and a total waste of our morning.
