Avis sur Paradise Beach Grille Capitola
What an amazing location it’s not really a dive bar. It’s very high-end if that. Beautiful view for lagoon and colorful houses, you can see the pier from here although it’s not that much after the storm you can also see the beach and people relaxing. Have a beer here a decent price sitting out on the deck.
We had the Veggie Scramble for breakfast. Our table overlooked the beach/ocean/river/colorful houses. Both the food and view are fantastic! Reasonable prices for what you get. Service is very friendly and personable. We ate her twice during our visit :)
This is worth the Long Island tea! Their drinks at any hour is happy hour. Crab cakes sandwich is top of the line, onion rings are crunchy but chewy, and the seared tuna is nicely seared. A stroll around the wharf helps to digest and keep pleasant memories of this restaurant etched into the recess of your mind filed under, "Must come back again for the Long Island Tea!"
The best Fish Tacos. We sat on the back deck in January, in the sun, next to the beach and had wonderful service. The "Painted Ladies Building " was right in front of us.
The nachos are so awesome. We had two of them. Great selection of beer on tap. great view of the ocean and the birds and the wildlife.
Great calamari sandwich. A little too much cold slaw but I ate some with a fork then it was great. Refill in drinks a little slow. We are outside enjoying the ocean view. waitress was very nice and helpful. We’ll be back.
Excellent breakfast! There was nothing I would change! Really! Pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon, toast all perfectly done. Cute place. Highly recommend.
Excellent customer service, had dinner and drinks, then stayed to enjoy the live music, The Mighty Sons played and they were fantastic! I had steak tacos and my husband had the shirt steak with grilled mushrooms and onions, we both loved our dishes, delicious. We also had the crab cakes as an appetizer and A Couples Paradise is what the drink is called.
Monday night had a live band. Vibe is good. $5 cover charge. Sat outside on deck. Good calamari with fries. Basic bloody Mary. It wasn't strong. Had two, walked out feeling as if I didn't have any drinks. But it was still ok. Blackened fish on a tostada.
Yes! A must! Great staff, food, drinks and live music most nights. Happy Hour specials weekdays. Beautiful views. Back patio sits on the water. One of the Happy Hour Specials: $10 Burger, fries & drink (beer, wine, well, soda) ... Mention Happy Hour Burger special when ordering. And absolute pleasure. Have enjoyed multiple visits... breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Seafood was on point. Went many times, and was great all around. Visitation from Hawaii
Loved it. Super sweet server, DELICIOUS mahi and prawn tacos 🌮, and a nice hibiscus lemonade mocktail. Kitchen was very quick to send out our order. Seating is a little tight out back but it’s perfect for on the beach.
We are local (Bay Area) but came here for the first time only about 2 months ago, and returned again today. I usually would think to avoid restaurants in highly touristic areas (which Capitola can be). But on both occasions, the fish was excellent (I had the salmon, my wife the seabass special). Both were fresh, prepared nicely and the service was excellent. Sorry, I didn’t think to take pictures (my kids usually do this). Add the lovely view and I couldn’t ask for more.
So peaceful and you have a fantastic view of the beach while you eat. It is on the more expensive side of things, but so are all the better things in life. It is very fine dining. They have the best French onion soup.
We shared the crab cakes, and potato crusted Halibut. Both were delicious! We tried the Jalapeño Margarita which hosts a whole jalapeño in the glass, and a salted rim. Also tried the Monterey Mule and the Citrus Ace, each offering a unique flavor and liquor. The service was excellent- Our waitress checked in frequently despite being busy. The ambiance was beautiful- evening dining on the patio with heaters and the bay view. It’s our second time here, and we will visit again!
Had an early dinner for our Anniversary. First time here. Grew up in Capitola, spent alot of time in the village. Beautiful location for a meal. We sat outside, with views of the ocean. It was chilly outside, they do have outdoor heaters. Our waiter forgot to turn it on, but I came prepared just incase. I ordered the bread bowl with clam chowder. Love the flavor, I appreciate they toasted the top. Delicious :) My hubby order the burger, fries were crispy. He said the burger was very good. He helped me finish my bread bowl. Parking was not an issue this afternoon. Its not summer yet, plenty of spots available to park.
While visiting my sister in law in California she invited us to her aunt Rosie's house and she treated us to this wonderful restaurant right on the beach in Capitola. The drinks were delicious the staff was so friendly and attentive. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and drinks. Everything was absolutely delicious. We plan on going back to Capitola this summer and can't wait to come back here and enjoy another meal.
This restaurant was a good find while exploring Capitola. We were there when they opened so we didn't have to wait for a table and had a table outside. The view out there was nice with the nice cool ocean breeze and the sun out in the sky. Our server, Angela, was very friendly and helpful! First we had cups of soups: French onion and clam chowder. Both were great with loads of flavor. The entrees, fish and chips and halibut burgers, were also amazing!
This restaurant was DELICIOUS! I has the seafood pasta, I wish it had shrimp, but otherwise it was delicious! My husband had the tortellini with steak, the sauce was a little heavy for me, but he loved it! Great location, great view and service was amazing! Will be coming back when we are in the area!
Nice ambiance, good food with good service. We have ordered clam chowder which was not that great. Coconut shrimp was favorite and crab cakes were awesome too. Liked the fish and chips ,fish was fresh but little bit salt was less. Mahi mahi sandwich was ok . Over all good experience
Love the view at the back of the Bar. Waitress was very nice and check on us even the place was very busy. Food needs improvement, fish and chips had no taste (fish) the clam chowder soup was really good. Great atmosphere!
The food was really good! Had the Santa Cruz coconut prawn tacos and my husband had the ceviche! Both excellent and large portions. Katy our waitperson was upbeat and attentive. Also had the house margarita, very yummy. Sat outside as the evening sunshine was lovely! Definitely worth a stop just for good food & beverage & great setting.
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. It was a bit of a wait to get a seat but it was well worth it. The western bacon and garlic fries were super yummy. If you eat on the balcony you get a great view of the ocean. We got lucky and it wasn’t super crowded but it can be pretty crazy at times, really depends on the day. Delicious place to eat if you’re tired of the usual.
I went down to help support the recently storm damaged businesses in town. I was met with a cheerful hello and a nice warm place to have lunch. I had the toasted BLT and fries. Good proportions at a decent price. The sandwich was a bit on the greasy side for my tastes, but it was very good otherwise. I'll try it another day with a request to use a little less oil next time. I recommend the place for sure!
Dog friendly place with outdoor patio seating overlooking the creek and ocean. Heaters are available outside for warmth. Food was good, plenty of options for everyone. The seafood fettuccine was really good and flavorful. I would suggest asking for the sauce to be on the side for the steaks as these flavors may not be for everyone.
Paradise Beach Grille is a good dining option when in Capitola. I was at the Restaurant along with family and friends for Lunch on 1st December I tried Fish and Chips and Sea Food Fettuccine. Family and friends had Clam Chowder, Burger and Pasta. Dining sections both indoor and outdoor beach facing options. Service took some time, probably it was due to our time of dining being peak lunch time. Tasty food, must try when in Capitola
We decided to do one of the Santa Cruz meal deals. The meal was good service was better. Meat was lovely after I added salt and pepper, potato's were good after I added seasoning. The broccoli has no flavor did not eat. Oysters were big, chocolate moose was good. Salmon was cooked well, rice was bland as was the greens. Timusu was good. All in all it was a nice meal Not sure they were worth $45 each.
The perfect location. Something happened to the food and service. What we had to eat was not consumable. They were very sorry about it and I think they were just too busy to handle anything going on in the kitchen. Prices are very high, but possibly the view is worth it. Cocktails are good and it’s fun to hang out at the bar. I miss the old Paradise, though, they were always on top of it. Even when it was happy hour, we end up spending most of the money on cocktails. Plus, they took away the music.
The oysters were great. We got the smallest, cramped table outside with people constantly bumping into us from behind. The waiter refused to take our order for dinner until after we finished our appetizer. The waiter was ridiculously slow bringing out our first drinks so I had to ask someone else to get them. The dinner I had was terrible. It was scallops. The sauce was sweet and the scallops were over salted and tough. This place was well below my expectations. I wanted to leave the terrible food after one bite but my partner wanted to take it to go. Yuck! Never going back here.
The view was better than the food here. Would come back for drinks and a snack, but not a full meal. The butternut squash ravioli with the Brussel sprouts was not a cohesive dish, it barely had a sauce and the veggies seemed randomly added without a point of view. Similar for the fish with coconut rice. Everything in the meal leaned a bit sweet. The crab croquettes were the best thing we had here!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ I recently dined at Paradise Beach Grille in Capitola and had a mixed experience. While the location, wine (Imagery Cabernet Sauvignon), and food were commendable, the service left much to be desired. The highlight of our meal was the Sugar & Spice Salmon dish, and the Skirt Steak Tortellini. These dishes were amazing, showcasing the culinary skills of the chef. The flavors were delightful and the presentation was visually appealing. I highly recommend trying these options if you visit the restaurant. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the brussel sprout appetizers. They were undercooked, which was disappointing. The lack of proper preparation affected the overall taste and texture of the dish, detracting from the dining experience. One major issue we encountered was the slow and inattentive service. Despite the restaurant being half empty, our waiter seemed more interested in chatting with girls behind the bar than attending to the customers. We waited for over 20 minutes without any interaction from our waiter, aside from receiving our drinks. Frustrated, I took matters into my own hands and approached the bar to request the brussel sprouts. It was disheartening to have to leave our table and seek assistance in such a manner. Even after the appetizers were delivered, our waiter continued to neglect our table for another 10 to 15 minutes. At that point, I had to approach the waiter from the neighboring table and ask if he could take our order. This lack of attention and delay in service greatly impacted our overall dining experience. Despite the restaurant's good location and the quality of the food and wine, I cannot overlook the subpar service we received. It's unfortunate that the service did not match the potential of the establishment. I hope the management takes note of these concerns and works towards improving the service aspect to ensure a more satisfying experience for all diners.
UPDATE: I went again on 6/21/22 and changing my review because the ceviche that I had last time was amazing but this time, it totally changed in flavor and had mostly shrimp with barely any of the fish ceviche (which is my favorite). I was disappointed it was not like the last time. The ceviche was a huge reason why I came back, however I won't be coming back. Not sure why they changed it... Also the Paloma was not good. Previous review:I am happy to say I was content with what I ate!!! I am a ceviche connoisseur and I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the ceviche was! It has both fish and shrimp ceviche. My preference is usually fish, but this was so good that it didn't matter!- one of the best!!! I also felt the size of it was filling. The clam chowder was good; I would say above average but I have also tasted some that are 5/5 in the past, so this is more like a 4/5. Also, I was not a big fan of the environment inside the restaurant- it seemed too touristy. But luckily, we ate outside in the patio and we were watching the beach and the colorful homes from there. Outside, it is a less clean though because of the birds. But because of the view outside, it has a nice feeling and the waitress was really kind!
I paid over 100$ worth of food and received my food with barely anything inside. I went back inside to ask where the rest of my food is and they must've hunted all of the squid in the sea because the man at the register said that he "couldn't control the weight of the box or how much was inside". Meanwhile, the cook in the back said that they ran out of calamari so they had to distribute what they had left at 3pm. Very disappointing by something rated 4.2 stars and wasn't busy, not returning because of this bad service and communication. They could've at least mentioned this issue and asked if we wanted to switch what we had ordered to something they had more of. The food also wasn't fresh and had no flavor whatsoever, its taste is comparable to the back of Ghandis slipper. I ordered lemonade and that was also very off-putting as well.
We came here just for brunch and only ordered two sandwiches—nothing else. We left an 18% tip, but they charged 25% to our credit card on the second day. I cannot accept this kind of behavior. We will never return to this location again.
