Avis sur Las Olas Carlsbad
We popped into Tortilla Mia right before closing just hoping to grab a quick margarita, and we were so grateful Javier still welcomed us in for a nightcap. The atmosphere is fun and lively, with a modern Mexican feel. Service was fantastic, but the scratch margarita absolutely stole the show. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour and clearly made fresh. We will definitely be back just for another one.
I was in San Diego visiting a good friend. We did a nearby hike and I mentioned that I wanted some Mexican food for lunch. The menu options were great and the prices were very reasonable. The food came out on time and was delicious. If you’re in the area and craving Mexican, check this place out. Oh, and make sure you get a margarita or two :-)
Delicious tacos!! Nice atmosphere and great service! Love this place! I keep coming back for their delicious food and beautiful atmosphere! Customer service is always the Best! It's always good to come here and eat delicious Mexican food!
I came in expecting just another Mexican restaurant but wow, Tortilla Mia really stands out. The tortillas taste so freshly made, soft, warm, and delicious. My quesabirria tacos were rich and full of flavor, not greasy like other places. Service was surprisingly quick and the staff checked in to make sure everything was good.
My husband is a picky eater but even he loved the steak fajitas. The aroma hit the table first and everything looked fresh. The peppers had the perfect char and the tortillas tied it together. Great experience.
Our office ordered catering for a team lunch and everyone was impressed. Neat packaging, generous portions, and the tortillas were still warm hours later. It’s rare to find catering that doesn’t compromise quality. We’ll definitely use them again.
We hosted my daughter’s graduation party in their private room and everything went so smoothly. The event coordinator kept communication clear and helped us plan within our budget. The setup looked elegant, the food came out hot, and the service was seamless. Everyone left happy, especially us.
We had our anniversary dinner here and it was a great experience. The staff surprised us with complimentary churros, which was such a kind touch. Every dish came out nicely plated and the carne asada was incredibly tender. It’s rare to find a place that gets both flavor and hospitality this right.
The mole enchiladas were honestly impressive. Rich, smoky, and well balanced. You can really taste the difference in their homemade sauces. The server took time to explain the dish, which I appreciated. It felt like dining at a family friend’s home rather than a restaurant.
Stopped by during happy hour, pretty good value. The margaritas were strong yet smooth and the tacos came out fast and full of flavor. We sat on the patio watching the sunset and the whole vibe was relaxed and inviting. I’ll definitely be back for another round of those shrimp tacos.
We took the whole family after the beach all sandy and tired and the staff honestly made us feel right at home. They were just so nice and welcoming. The kids loved their mini quesadillas (they actually ate!) and the margaritas for us were just perfect. A+ for being so family friendly.
Tortilla Mia was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The party coordinator was easy to work with and made planning simple. On the day of the event, the staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and our guests couldn’t stop raving. The husband-and-wife owners personally introduced themselves and made sure we felt supported throughout. I also love visiting Tortilla Mia regularly with friends and family. They even work with party budgets. Highly recommend for events or casual dining!
I love tacos, so after reading few reviews I decided to try this place out. I went for the classic asada tacos and I was not disappointed. The asada was perfectly cooks and piles high into the fresh flower tortilla then topped with fresh cut tomatoes. Each bite was perfect. Washed it all down with a margarita which was so-so. Bottom line is, I can't speak for the rest of the menu but the tacos were too top and the margaritas were fine. Would come back.
Stopped in for an afternoon snack and received fast, friendly service. We ordered three different tacos and two margarita flights. The margaritas were excellent—refreshing and well balanced with just the right amount of tequila. Chips and salsa were solid and hit the spot. The carne asada tacos were the standout, grilled perfectly and very tender. The carnitas were flavorful, though a bit heavy on the rice for our taste. The al pastor was good, with fresh pineapple adding a nice contrast. Overall, a great stop with good food and drinks, and we’d definitely come back.
First Visit—Slow Service, semi friendly, had to ask for everything. Food is ok—Chips & Salsa-very good. Carne Asada Taco not worth $7. White Queso with Chorizo Not great—tasteless. Birria Flautas were the best thing I ordered as was the Chipotle Sauce that accompanied. The Green Salsa and the Habanero Salsa were delicious as well. Atmosphere was ok. Very loud though. Parking is on street—many different streets—depending on how far you want to walk.
We visited Tio Ernie’s Tortillamia with a party of five. It took about 5–10 minutes for a server to greet us, but once they did, service picked up. They brought out plenty of chips and salsa to start—good flavor overall. We asked for a spicier salsa and were given two: Diablo and Pineapple Habanero. The pineapple habanero was the standout—flavorful and had a great kick. The diablo had heat, but lacked flavor. Our bill came out to $75 before tip, which felt fair for five people. Everyone rated their experience on a scale of 1–10 and our group averaged a 7.6 rating with the salsas were definitely a highlight.
Popped in for a margarita and some chips and salsa while waiting for friends at the farmers market. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious, and the margaritas hit the spot! We grabbed seats at the outdoor bar that faces inside — great setup. The bartender was friendly and made us feel welcome. Perfect little break in the day!
Got seated right away, there were 5 of us. Food was okay and we were never offered drink refills. Staff is very friendly. Reply to owner: I saw that you were voted 2025 Best Mexican Restaurant; that was one of the reasons we went there, also the fresh churros. I may just be picky because I'm from SoCal and I'm Mexican, but I am willing to give you guys another try next time I'm in the area.
Unfortunately this place did not do it for us. We came here on a saturday night and it started off strong with wonderful decor and they actually fit us in very quickly for a busy night. Once we sat down I asked if the margarita flavors were made with fresh fruits or with syrup. The server answered syrup and then said “wait let me ask”, and came back and said actually theyre all fresh in house. I ordered a watermelon margarita, my partner ordered a flight (tamarind, jamaica, mango, strawberry), our friends also got a flight and the jamaica margarita. We also ordered chips and guac and chips and salsa. The chips and guac and salsa were actually really good, very crispy and perfectly salted. The atmosphere was very nice with live music. When the drinks arrived the flight was actually very good but we couldnt figure out which was which in the flight because there were 3 yellow ones and one red one which we assumed was the strawberry (and tasted like strawberry). But the jamaica that our friends also ordered was also red so we figured one of the flight must have been switched out. So we asked the waiter which flavors were which and she asked to see the menu and started trying to name them. She ended up calling over someone else who named off all the flavors and pointed to the red one and said watermelon. We asked are you sure? It doesnt taste like the watermelon and there was supposed to be a strawberry in the flight and jamaica… and he said yes it is. Regardless, the flight was actually really good and the tamarind did taste like a real mix. As far as the watermelon that I ordered - it tasted suuuper sweet, like it was almost definitely syrup. We ended up asking to switch for the strawberry since according to the waiter we didnt get one. The strawberry one was even worse, it tasted like more syrup and it tasted like a lot of tequila. The whole table tried it and hated it. We didnt end up sending it back again since we were finished with our meal. I didnt get to try the jamaica since it didnt seem to be in our flight and the one ordered was our friends. As far as the mains - we got the pork chiliverde, shrimp taco, and mahi mahi taco. I felt like across the board they were bland - both in flavor, and presentation. Overall I felt there are a lot of improvements that could be made but if you are looking for a flight and some chips in a vibe-y spot maybe it will be just right.
