The staff here are friendly, and the service is fast, which makes the experience smooth and easy. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable, a nice place to relax while enjoying a meal. The food is good, with flavors that are satisfying without being overwhelming. Overall, it’s a spot I’d recommend for a casual meal with friends or family.
My husband and I went to this place on Valentine’s Day. The atmosphere, light music, excellent food, attentive wait staff made our day special. Thank you 🙏
Pangaea On Ocean Ave, located in the middle of Downtown Carmel-on-the-sea, was a Californian style restaurant. We went there on a wet rainy day when thunderstorms were expected. All dishes looked appetizing. Artichoke dish was available upon request as its local specialty appetizer. Korean Short Ribs and Kimchi soup were so good.
My recent visit to Pangaea Grill on Ocean Avenue in Carmel was an absolute delight. The ambiance is beautiful, with tasteful music that sets the perfect mood for a relaxing meal. I started with the crab cakes appetizer, which was packed with flavor and paired beautifully with their signature sauce. For my main course, I chose the sand dab—lightly breaded and pan-fried to perfection, accompanied by fresh, seasonal vegetables that showcased the kitchen’s attention to quality and detail. A special shoutout to our server, Johnnie, whose pleasant, professional manner truly elevated our evening. Johnnie’s attentive service and warm personality made the experience more enjoyable from start to finish. The she makes you feel valued and welcome, creating a genuinely inviting atmosphere. Pangaea Grill is a gem in Carmel, perfectly blending great food, warm hospitality, and wonderful ambiance. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in town.
Overall pretty good. It’s an Asian fusion type restaurant with plenty of options for all. For Carmel by the sea, prices fairly reasonable. We got the kimchi fried rice and a mushroom pasta dish. Both were pretty good. The restaurant is small but the way they have set it up makes it feel big. The staff is super friendly and service speed was good especially for how busy it was. We left full and happy and would definitely go back.
Dining at Pangaea Grill was an absolute delight! The portions were generous, and every dish was beautifully presented with fresh ingredients. The grilled meat was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and full of flavor, complemented nicely by the kimchi and rice. The cheesy corn was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with just the right hint of spice—truly impressive. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, while the bibimbap with egg brought together a wonderful mix of textures and flavors. Service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The cozy atmosphere added to the charm—highly recommended!
Alex and team made our day! First the restaurant had a super busy day, despite that each and every member of the staff was not only working tirelessly but were also very courteous. Then came in some great recommendations followed by a cute birthday surprise for one of our family member! FYI: They can customise almost everything 😍 Keep up the great work folks! Will hopefully visit again ♥️
Pangaea is an absolute dream of a restaurant. From the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the stunning artwork that brings the space to life—vibrant, bold, and beautifully curated. It perfectly complements the lively, welcoming vibe of the whole restaurant. There's an energy here that just makes you want to stay awhile. The food? Phenomenal. We started with the Happy Hour BBQ wings, which were perfectly crispy, saucy, and packed with flavor—honestly some of the best wings we've had in a long time. I also got the Bixby cocktail, which tasted like a high quality piña colada. We also indulged in the Sunset 3-course dinner, and every bite was a hit. The creamy clam chowder was comforting and delicious, the Artichoke Chicken entrée was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the Limoncello cake for dessert was the perfect sweet finish—light, zesty, and unforgettable. A huge shoutout to Elijah, our wonderful waiter, who made the experience even better with his warm personality and spot-on food recommendations. He guided us through the menu like a pro, and we couldn’t have asked for better service. If you’re thinking about going—go. Pangaea is the kind of place that delights all the senses. Between the art, the ambiance, the food, and the amazing staff, it’s a total win. We’ll absolutely be back!
Made a Friday night reservation at Pangaea and wow, the place was packed and full of energy. Bright, upbeat crowd, Friday fun. We started with a few splits of Chandon. To eat we had the clam chowder, and a spam sushi roll (forget the exact name but wife had to have it!). For mains, we went with the duck and the tikka masala sea bass. Both were tasty. The fish was buttery and perfectly cooked, and flavorful. The duck was tender and just the right amount of crispy. The clam chowder surprised me. Not overly thick, tons of clams, and great flavor. Dessert was a crème brûlée 2 ways. One was regular and one espresso! Simple but so good. Our waiter deserves a shoutout ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Super friendly, high energy, rocking caps as earrings (iconic), and knew the menu inside and out. Overall, such a fun, vibrant dinner spot right in the heart of Carmel. Great food, great service, great energy.
Service was brisk however I thought the flavors were good. Only nit was the chopped chicken wraps, I would suggest a finer chop. Portions are decent and veg heavy. Kalbi was nearly authentic, only missing part was gochujang sauce. Coconut Thai curry was thicker than expected but flavor was about right. Duck cooked well, but could have been more crispy skin (the sauce could have been dressed on the side). Last positive, one TV and they had CWC on
Service: the staff are very helpful and nice. The lady who made my drink spilled a bit so she also provided an extra small glass of cocktail to make it up. Food: The flavor is good in general. Bread is nice and warm; the soup is rich in flavor, can be a bit thick without the bread; Filet Mignon in medium is perfectly tender and juicy; the Alfredo is mixed with a bit of Asian flavor and quite heavy for me personally. Ambiance: Definitely a dating spot, and it can also be a getaway spot to enjoy a nice meal.
After point of lobos we went back to carmel by the sea to see what they got to eat on the strip. Saw this place on Google map across the street bakery where we was at because it has Asian fusion dishes but i end up getting sea food pasta. The food here are pricey for an average joe. Service and food was OK. It wasn't amazing like point of lobos view that I had to come back. Parking spot are hard to come by but recommend to come later around 6pm to find Parking spot.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in Carmel, but for the last two years, the quality has *consistently* declined. Two of my favorite dishes are the salmon and the short ribs. They used to always be cooked to perfection and beautifully plated. First, they took out the fresh vegetables. They started head-scratchingly serving the Korean short ribs with boiled corn slathered heavily in mayo. It does not pair well at all. Then they took the fresh vegetables off of the salmon dish and replaced it with a sad looking Caesar side salad. Lastly, they took all of the flavor out of the mashed potatoes, which now taste completely bland. They used to garnish every dish with a flower, but no longer. The short ribs are now so chewy--they are basically fat and bone. The salmon tastes under-seasoned. You do not get as much sauce as you used to and the salmon has been overcooked more times than not. Overall, the quality just kept declining so much that I eventually had to stop eating here. I understand times are tough for everyone, restaurants included, but when you're paying $50+ for a meal, you're expecting better than cafeteria food.
This place is overated. The food is neither authentic nor tasty as a fusion food. We ordered coconut curry with chicken and vegetable miso sauce. Neither of them were good… The price is very high too comparing to the quality. The service is somewhat questionable too. We didn’t feel welcomed since the moment we entered until we leave. I will not come back.
The place itself is very cozy, clean, and cute - such a nice atmosphere. But unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. We ordered a quesadilla, and it was far from good. The vegetables were roughly chopped, the chicken pieces were huge, and the onions looked like they were cut in a rush. It felt like there was no care put into the dish, which is a shame, because the restaurant itself is truly lovely.
🍽️ Food: The food was a mixed bag. The calamari was a significant disappointment, as the dish contained more fried items than actual calamari. The California sandwich was decent, and the poke bowl was okay, but neither was particularly memorable. It also came out cold. 🐢 Service Issues: The service was a major issue. It was very slow, which was surprising for a holiday weekend, suggesting they were understaffed. This made the waiting time for our food and drinks much longer than it should have been. 🤔 Overall Impression: The slow service and disappointing food, particularly the calamari, made for a less-than-ideal dining experience. While some of the food was decent, it wasn't enough to justify a return visit. The restaurant's inability to handle the holiday weekend crowd effectively, coupled with the food quality, means I won't be going back.
