Avis sur Vesuvio Carmel
Really loved this place. Cozy vibe, great food, and the pasta was a highlight. I asked if they could make it vegetarian with a little spice, and they made it happen — it was so delicious. Drinks were nice too. Only thing I'd say is the upper deck gets a bit cramped — one less table up there would make it a lot more comfortable. But the service was amazing, genuinely some of the best. Will definitely be back!
Props to leslie! Great time on this rooftop and she was quick to get our order, make sure they were perfect, and make sure we were always taken care of. Great martinis, and the lemon drop with the strawberry shrub was a good twist on the drop 👌love this spot, try to come up for happy hour but just know it’s popular!
We were only staying in Carmel for one night and after a full day of driving and hiking we just wanted to enjoy the balcony at the lovely B&B we were staying at so we ordered takeout. Easy street parking, lovely and lively bar scene inside, received our to go order quickly and they made sure we had all we needed. Everything was packaged really well (down to individual skewers for the meatball pops). We had Ceasar salad, meatball pops, and the 1944 lasagna. SUBLIME! Beautiful crisp greens and radicchio, plenty of thick shaved pecorino and a delicious smooth dressing. The meatballs....fuggedaboutit! Beautiful soft texture and luscious sauce with a tiny kick of spice. The lasagna was incredible with soft fresh pasta sheets, rich smooth ricotta and so many well cooked meats. We split everything and it was perfect for 2. Well done Italian is simple but every single ingredient needs to be perfect and Vesuvio hit the mark. Bravo!
Went for an early dinner right at open; service was wonderful, friendly and food came out quickly. We tried the fried artichoke crocchettes and will be getting those every time we return to Carmel, absolutely delicious!! Also had the Margherita pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and the house red, then finished with the pistachio cannoli and the apple pastry with vanilla Gelato. Every single thing was delicious, we would recommend trying it all!
I’ll admit I mostly do DoorDash, but even their packaged up food is amazing. I always get the truffled gnocchi and usually a vegetable. Mix it together and it’s two delicious meals. While it’s not inexpensive, a nice treat a one or two times a month.
We've eaten here several times in the past, but it's been awhile. We were so glad that we came for dinner! Everything that we ate was so delicious! Started with Scattini Farms Artichoke, a grilled heirloom. The artichoke and aioli della casa sauce were one of the best that we've ever eaten. For entrees, we had the Eggplant Parmigiana with Pappardelle Alfredo and Ragu Bolognese. Dessert was the Carmel Bakery Brownie and an Expresso Martini. Our server, Jeff, was outstanding, and we really enjoyed our interactions with him. We will definitely be back! They have the only rooftop bar in Carmel, and it gets very busy. Besides Vesuvio, Chef Pepe has Little Napoli, Peppoli (Inn At Spanish Bay), Carmel Bakery. All are really very good!
My wife and I have had many date nights over the past 10 years together. Not many if any have been better than our experience at this restaurant. The ambience, the food, the seating, the wine, the service, I honestly have nothing negative to say about this place. If you were only in Carmel-by-the-Sea for one night, go to this restaurant. If you don’t have a reason to go to Carmel-by-the-Sea, this restaurant is enough
Let my pictures do the talking. The food was fantastic, the location was great, and the dining experience was exceptional. After a great round of golf in Monterey, it was the perfect treat to indulge in such a feast. I thoroughly enjoyed all the pizzas, ravioli, and steak. However, I found the tiramisu to be overpriced, and the beef carpaccio was quite tasteless.
Slipped into Carmel hungry and took the stairs to Vesuvio’s Starlight rooftop for a sunset drink, then came down to the main room for a wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta; the house leans Italian classic but the rooftop lounge is the move if you want open air with a proper cocktail. It sits right at 6th and Junipero, so finding it is easy even on a busy weekend. Easy pick when you want lively upstairs and comforting plates downstairs.
We went to dinner on a Sunday night. We were able to find parking right in front of the restaurant without a problem. We showed up a little early and the hosts told us they were doing on time reservations so we walked around the area to make time. We also checked out their rooftop bar, which was really cute! Once it was our time, we were seated. We had the meatball lollipops and garlic bread as appetizers. The meatballs were delicious, not to saucy. For dinner, I had their pink vodka sauce Jackie-o. It was delicious! The ingredients blended well together and they created a really nice dish. My husband had the crab ravioli and he said they were delicious. The portion were good and worth the price. We had the limoncello mousse cake, which ended the dinner perfectly. Service was great as well. Our server was attentive and had great recommendations. We would definitely recommend and go back!
The great neighborhood atmosphere will bring you back just like the locals. We watched the employees greet clients by their names and preferences. The family recipes are authentic and full of flavor. The prices are reasonable but the real bargains are 4-6pm. This is a must visit for Carmel.
MY wife and I were passing through Carmel and was told we had to enjoy some Roof top time at Vesuvios. Well we did and it was such an amazing experience. Rooftop just makes everything better. The house made manhattan and old fashioned that are barreled just for them were absolutely delicious to the last drop. I should have came home with a bottle of each so I could relive that experience. All the drinks were made perfectly. The service was excellent. We had roof top and inside servers since we enjoyed both setting and the service was great. If we get to come back to Carmel we are definitely stopping here again! We did enjoy some meatball lollipops and some gnocchi with a burnt to a perfection cheese on top as well. My only complaint is that we didn’t have enough stomach for food and drinks ;)
Cute and charming spot in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and one of the few that stays open until 10pm (a big plus since most places close early). My partner and I came here after an evening at Refuge Spa, and it was the perfect way to end the night. We ordered the lasagna and crab ravioli—both delicious, though the portions felt a bit small for him. The Old Fashioned and tiramisu were just okay, but the main dishes and the cozy atmosphere made up for it. Service was attentive and kind without being overbearing. Overall, Vesuvio is a great choice for a date night or late dinner in Carmel. I left happy and content with the whole evening—spa, food, and the warmth that carried through the rest of the night.
This is a cashless restaurant. Vesuvio was an excellent restaurant to finish the night in Carmel. Walk-ins welcomed although we made reservations. On a Wednesday evening, it was not too busy and we were seated promptly, even before our reservation time. While we were dressed business casual (button-up, chinos, dress), we almost felt overdressed. I do not believe there is a strict dress code. We had the steak frites, pesto ‘genovese’, and two drinks, purple haze and Sicilian kiss. The ribeye was delicious and paired well with the herb butter. It was also cooked perfectly. The pesto had a not-so-overpowering basil flavor. While I love a strong basil flavor, I found it quite nice. The cocktails were delicious and balanced. It was potent for us who do not drink often. Last but not least, our server Karen was wonderful. She was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. She knew when to engage and when to give us space, and she always seemed available without hovering.
Best happy hour in Carmel-by-the-sea! It is 4:00-6:00 and the rooftop is lovely. Service is great as well — our server Edi was terrific. The artichoke balls were phenomenal — plentifully stuffed with artichoke. The truffled gnocchi was fantastic as well — very rich and delicious. We also got the fangool pizza which was great and the seafood risotto — which was my least favorite but my partner really enjoyed it. Highly recommend Vesuvio!
What a wonderful place to eat! The rooftop bar was a great place to relax after a long walk to the beach. The service was amazing, thank you, Edi! I ordered an Old Fashion, it was incredible. Then I had the Chicken Parm, I have never tasted something that amazing... and I've been to a lot of places. I love the vibe, the atmosphere, the music. I will definitely be coming back for more!
This is my third time eating at this restaurant and it just as amazing as I remember it every time. No matter what we order, it’s delicious, fresh and full of flavor. A must when in Carmel. All the food we ordered was superb is quality and flavor, just wow. Our server Sergio was kind, friendly and attentive - with always a smile on his face even though it was busy. Atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant was just as if we stepped into a restaurant in Italy. Amazing!!! Will definitely come back. When you find a good thing, you stick to it. This is one of those places.
