I don't eat burgers very often but needed a "quick fix". The food was fresh, staff was friendly, and my order was correct. Had to wait a few minutes but I appreciate that as my burger was loaded up with veggies and the fries were hot and crispy.

There used to be one of these in my home town as a kid and it was one of my go tos when my parents asked what I wanted for lunch. I happened to be in town and 25 years later the taste & quality of their 1/4 lb burger is still 5 stars for a quick bite.

The catfish and hush puppies were super fresh and OMG delicious. The fries were perfect as well. Definitely recommend this plate! Too bad it’s only available on Fridays! 😀

Shortstop is a reasonably priced Austin favorite even if this one isn't Cedar Park. If you've lived in Austin for any amount of time, you know that not all are created equal, but the ones that are good are really good. The pricing is similar to about any other Burger Joint out there, but I think the burgers are just better than most. I'm a big fan of their fries and I always get a single cheeseburger with bacon no ketchup no pickles. The people at the window are always super chill and very polite and they're able to make the order quite quickly. I would say you can generally get in and out a little faster then you could say at Whataburger. Don't forget about catfish Fridays, get it once and you will understand.

Dude what can I say? Short stop is iconic and as Austin as it gets. You want a delicious heart clogger, this here is your place. Something about those half steamed burgers still leaves a delicious taste in my mouth even though there's not as many locations left. And the fries are the best around in my opinion, just make sure you tell em crispy.

Excellent place for a burger....but always check before you leave the window for your apple pie.

Great burgers for all 4 of us in the family. Got out at 24 bucks. Donna made my little guy who just got out of the hospital feel great. She was super friendly and talked with him about pokemon. Probably my new favorite short stop.

Forgot about this place but I've been disappointed with the other orange "W" place so I pulled in and ordered a burger. It was amazing. Hot and fresh. Vegetables were cold and freshly cut. Bun was perfectly toasted. Meat was hot and perfectly grilled. You can see them cooking it. Their chili burger was also delicious.I will keep going back!

Fantastic as always, this place has amazing fries. It's been a favorite since I was a kid, so maybe I just go for the nostalgia but the fries and burgers are still darn good. It's definitely a must try for newcomers to the Austin area.

Love their food. I only wish they'd get real drink carriers. I have drinks tip over and spill in my car because they just give you a cut up box from their meat.

You're in and out! The fries are always fresh. They toast the bun lightly and that makes the difference. Even when there are 4 or 5 cars at each window. The food is flying out of the window fast and the order is correct.

Short Stop hamburgers have been around the Austin area for decades. They have a flame grilled method of service. They are definately a favorite comfort food! The flame grilled chicken is a tight second on my list. They are priced resonsibility and have specials on "bags-of-burgers" for the kids. if you have any doubts or curiosity. try it you will like it and go back!

Wish they had larger portions for the fries but they were very tasty! They have a good combo special on certain days. Got a drink, fries, and burgers for less than $5 I believe.

Haven't found an old fashion fried pie since McDonalds stopped selling them and switched to the breaded one's. These are so so good! Will for sure be coming back for them!

Great "greasy spoon" style burgers, no atmosphere really, I mean it's a burger stand. So hard to fault that. Fair prices and quick service. I've never been let down by short stop. I always get a great burger when I go there.

Came here on February 15th and the food was pretty good. The chili CheeseBurger should have had more chili, but it was still good. The fries and everything else were good too. The young lady at the drive-thru was very friendly and helpful.

I've loved SS since I was a kid, but not accepting Amex might be a part of the reason why I never see anyone in your drive thru while the Whataburger next door keeps a line around the building.

the burger itself is a burger king clone. the fries a mcdonalds clone. nearly identical. the frozen lemonade tasted odd like cleaning solution so i threw that out. the apple pie had a mild unexciting flavor.overall an average meal at best.

My wife and I had the catfish platter and it was good but there was something we saw that caught our attention. One of the workers was making a hamburger for the next customer and she grab the cheese with her bare hands. That is unacceptable in any fast food establishment so we don't know if she touch our food the same way. For the record we will not be going back there anymore.

I remember when this place was really good. It’s not terrible but the quality is not what it used to be. The quality of the food has gone down while the prices have gone up. We spent $21.95 for a fish plate and a fish sandwich combo. I thought they were closed when I first drove up because the signs are down and the first drive thru was blocked off with cones. But they were open, they had at least four or five employees inside.

I haven't visited a Short Stop in a long time. The guy on the board was being a little snarky with me by saying whatever is on the board is what they have, but the food was decent. My daughter said the burger was pretty small, which it definitely didn't look like the normal sizes I had known of years ago. The fish still tasted the same though.

The fries were cooked in old oil and they tasted like yuk. The Burger was ok. Service was fast and they were nice.

Burgers were mediocre. Fries were warm, not fresh. Service was VERY SLOW considering I was the only vehicle in line. Not on my recommendations list.

The food here is not very good anymore. Maybe 10 years ago it was but now it is just greasy and it takes a long time to be served your food in the drive thru as well as the employees are all super young kids who come off as rude or maybe that is just any teen kids attitude. The burger my husband had was good he said but the fries tasted like grease and the chicken strips were expensive and tasted like so lo I'd grease. I couldnt even eat them, I gave them to the dogs.

i love Short Stop. This one the chicken tasted weird maybe because I noticed the grill people(food handlers) were not wearing gloves. I stopped approximately at 1pm on a Thursday. It kind of ruined my appetite wondering if they kept their hands washed.

Asked for hot dog and large coke seperate. Even asked again to make sure "Jonathan" got it confirmed. Was given a combo with fries and a medium coke. Asked for a large since it was what I ordered and was turned down! Then checked and was given no straws either. Bad customer service. Most likely will choose another burger joint next time.

Usually would give them a good review, love the food but it's the 3rd time now that I've repeated my order several times and still ended up getting the wrong order. I've paid extra 3 times for added bacon and a large fry and gotten home to look in the bag and find a small fry and no bacon on my burger.

Good food but they're 1in5 at getting order right. Not that crazy of big deal except fact that deathly allergic to onions, so when receive order and it has onions on it. Kinda feels like have a personal issue with you or really just don't give AF about your health. But burgers are good, so there's that.

This WAS my favorite "go to" place on Wed. And/Or Sat even though they always have a lot of turn over in employees. Today was my final visit as I was so angry that a shift manager regarded my request for Fresh, hot, extra crispy fries, NO heat lamp, as unnecessary (I'm the paying customer here!) and stared me in the eye while teaching her new employee to disregard my request and give me the fries in the tray ( not hot just warm, not extra crispy). I ate one, not hot, not extra crispy so returned them to correct. They normally wouldn't make it 2 blocks before turning into those hard cold little boards everyone hates and throws away! She came to window to inform me they were fresh and had been cooked for blah blah blah minutes...not according to my order! I just don't need the aggravation! It's not like they have so many customers they can afford to run them off. If I wanted someone to dictate how I have to eat, I'd move to a 3rd world country! For God's sake, franchise owner, take the time to teach your employees that CUSTOMER SERVICE keeps customers coming back. An angry ex-customer.

My wife said her burger tasted like school burgers that she likes. I ordered the fish fillet and couldn't finish it because it tasted weird, the fries was salty and wasn't good. The food needs to be a little hotter.

Just went here and omg totally disgusting. My burger was soggy, smashed and with finger prints all on it. The bread was wet like wet wet i mean come on. The other burger i ordered had wet soggy bread as well SMH waste of money.

This place is garbage. The managers there are rude and inconsiderate. I have seen one of the managers drinking beer and smoking weed in her car while at work. This place needs better service.

The customer service from the employee that took my order was nasty, rude, careless and clueless. She had an attitude from the start when taking my order. And it got worse and was ridiculously uncalled for. She literally closed the window in my face as I was talking to her. But I didn't want to assume, so I asked her if she purposely closed it in my face. Her response was I most definitely did. So I asked her what her name was and she said that's personal information. Forgive me while I lol because everyone knows that any time you work with customers you should have a name tag on. It's part of the uniform. Well everyone EXCEPT HER. The purpose of wearing them is so you WOULD be able to identify them good or bad. She will continue to work in the fast food industry with that mindset and nasty attitude. I will NEVER spend another penny at any SHORT STOP.

Went to this location last night and was absolutely horrified watching the staff handle my food with bare hands! Covid or not, that is unsanitary, it's bad enough they weren't wearing masks. Even though there is no inside dining, they have a sign at the driveup they enforce. You can't smoke in your own car in their drive thru. I am at another Short Stop now and see that this is not corporate policy. The manager of this location simply does not want to sell food to smokers. I will NEVER frequent this location again. Up to now, that was at least weekly visit. I do respect their right to dictate terms of service. I want them to be free to do so. But I then must vote with my dollars No soup for you!

General Manager is disrespectful. Been here many times before. Snobby attitude. Not worth giving your money to meth users. Literally watched her tweaking inside the store. Told her to slow down give us a chance to order and she smarts of saying oh well I'm the general manager. Seriously? Horrible Customer Service and id recommend Carl's Jr. before spending the same money at this s*** hole.

Hair in my food came back to get my refund and the manger was being rude had to call the police, manger said I already ate I took two bites and took the burger which I didn't want. And the little white girl in the drive-thru was rude. Glad a took a picture.

Stopped here today and saw the cook shoving fries into his mouth and then without washing or putting on gloves or a mask, prepared my burger. I asked if that was normal and was told it was not. I told them that I was going to throw my food away and wanted a refund. That was refused, window closed. I stopped there several times a week but no more.

Just note. I was just there at your pick up window. The girls in the back that make the burgers need to read the order and do it properly. Tall one with hair in pony tail gives me a dirty look all the time and whispers a comment to the other girl. Come on and do your job.

If I could give this location zero stars I would!! I initially tried short stop, particularly this location, for the 1st time during lunch hour and the food was good. Tonight I decided to order take out for my family since they'd never tried it, and it was absolutely horrible! The burgers were not fresh at all. They seemed as though they'd been sitting for at least an hour. Yes, it was that bad. We didn't even finish them. To top it all off my son found hair in his chicken sandwich. I called to notify management & they were totally unapologetic & disinterested. I specified that I was not looking for free food or a discount, but simply to notify them of the poor quality of the food we received. I will NEVER eat here again. Mistakes happen, but as a manager you should care about the quality of food you're giving people. Whoever owns this location should definitely reconsider who they're leaving in charge.

They gave me a burger with just sauce on it. I never asked them to remove any ingredients, I actually ordered a number one combo with extra sauce. There wasn’t even any indication that my order was off on my receipt or the bag, so I didn’t even figure it out until I was back at work. I typically have good experiences with PTerrys so I was very disappointed.

Usually good. I've been a customer here for at least 15 years. This time they ruined my fish sandwich. I took it right back to the window and they said they won't fix it. I even offered to trade it for something else. She said I have to bring the fish sandwich back the next day and let the gm take care of it. Ridiculous!

Closed early. Left multiple cars sitting at drive thru and didn't take order. Pulled up to window they lied and said it was 8 when it wasn't. Asked to speak to someone in charge to complain. Manager called GM to let them know the situation. Acknowledged that 4 cars were there at 7:57. (Closes at 8) Put GM on speaker, he yelled "I will never give my cell phone out to a customer and I will always back my assistant manager!" I didnt ask for his cell. I asked for a number to call to complain for them closing early. She called him and put him on speaker. She then told him to close and lock the window with us sitting at drive-thru with another customer behind us saying they waited 10 minutes for food as well. Wouldn't give me a number to call anyone who cared about the customers, told me to go on line, search for the location and find a number. You want to close early, change your hours. But 8pm on a Saturday isn't too late to stay open for your customers. But at least stay open for the hours you promise.

I've eaten here a few times. Everything seemed normal, but on one occasion the teenagers that work there filled my large drink full of ice only. Packed it to the brim. I thought it was weird, but got another drink. I drove there 2 days ago and the same teenager was playing in the ice used to fill drinks. I saw him reach in with his bare hands and grabbed ice, he ate some and grabbed more then put some in a cup and had a drink. Now that I realize some of the teenagers that work there play games with food and drink and put their hands in the ice used for drinks I won't return there again.

Edited 11/08/2023 Again I order and the same kid who hands me a hamburger believing it's the catfish platter I ordered asks me if I want salt, ketchup etc. I answer "yes" and do I get any ketchup, salt, pepper? Nope not a single one. Why ask me if you're not going to put some in the bag? This kid needs to pay attention or quit hitting the pipe at work. Every time I come here they mess my order up. Today I asked for no mustard, no ketchup just light mayo. I get back to work and open my burger and there's mustard but no mayo. Been here five times and five times they mess up my order. At least they're consistent in screwing up orders.

This has been one of my favorite burger places for years. But after today I will go to P Terry's were they show they appreciate their customers. I ordered a numb 1 with a frozen strawberry lemonade. When I approached the window no smile and no greeting. My drink was white on the top and the bottom was about an inch of strawberry. I asked if it could be blended. The young lady named Destini said someone new made it and she would remake it. I watched her scoop out some of the mix and add more strawberry then a little mix. Smh She handed me my bag and the window closed. I waved and asked for ketchup and she gave me attitude without saying a word. One sip almost sent me in a diabetic coma. I parked and went to the window. The same lady was there I told her it was too sweet can I get a regular lemonade drink. She slightly rolled her eyes. And slung it in the trash with force. Then the manager comes to the window and tells me that's how we make them. I explain how I order them often and never had a problem. Then he replied next time he will charge me extra. At this point it doesn't make sense because a frozen drink cost more than a fountain drink. Actually you made more money off of me. I even explained that it was bad for business for his employee to have an attitude and didn't mind showing it. She keeping saying things while standing off to the side of him. He had to tell her to hush over and over. Then told me he would handle it. It's sad what paying customers go through just because employers are desperate for employees.

This is probably the nastiest burger I have ever had the pleasure of throwing away. Burnt bun all around the edge, also stale tasting, dry as the Sahara meat, soggy lettuce and trash fries 🍟 😑 not a good place at all. How are yall still in business?
