My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner this Saturday at Brandywine Prime restaurant in Chadds Ford. We started with the East Coast Blue Crab Dip that came with pita. It was hot, creamy and loaded with crabmeat. Then we each had the seafood special which consisted of grilled swordfish steak that was served with baby kale, fennel and cucumber salad alongside a plate of large shrimp. The entree was perfectly prepared and loaded with flavor. What a delicious summer treat! We look forward to going back soon!

What a lovely dinner option! We visited during restaurant week, and their special menu was fabulous. Our party of four had filet mignon, steak au poivre, salmon, and mushroom pasta ... Portions were perfect, and all of the dishes were delicious! The grilled salad was a delight, and the desserts were also great. This venue has a lovely upscale yet rustic feel. Very comfortable! Highly recommend the "Respect Your Elders" cocktail. The service was wonderful, and we very much enjoyed our entire experience.

Wonderful ambience and delicious food. Everything was cooked perfectly, with amazing flavor. I suggested they offer hand truck service to wheel you out to your vehicle following dinner. Janine, our waitress, was delightful, attentive, and provided great service. Highly recommend.

Just a great all-around high-class restaurant. They're not high-class because they are pricey. It's the atmosphere, the lighting, the decor and the confidence and knowledge of the waitstaff. Ask them a question regarding the drinks or food and you'll learn something. Steak was cooked exactly as I desired. Great start to a memorable birthday celebration!

Cooked to perfection filet mignon! Melt in your mouth level quality. Everything was delicious, beautiful ambiance and not too crowded or loud. Definitely recommend for special occasions.

Wow the service and the food was just amazing. My wife and I enjoyed everything from the soup to the desert. The steak melted in the mouth, the oysters very good and fresh and the salmon so much flavor. We can't wait to go back, and will along with friends!

Every single item on the menu is delicious and perfect every time. The parmesan truffle fries, citrus king salmon, filet mignon, ribeye, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, flatbread, mushroom tart, mushroom ravioli, and steak frites are some of the items I order most often. The Italian pear martini is amazing, but you won’t go wrong with anything you order. All of the desserts are amazing, the pastries are all handmade (the strawberry pie is my favorite). Service is top notch, it’s a great atmosphere, and there are always very friendly people also dining there for great conversations! This is the only restaurant I go to when I don’t cook at home.

Nestled along the Brandywine River, this rustic restaurant specializes in steaks, seafood, and chops. Prices are high, but when you eat the food, you'll know why! I had the pork chop and it was succulent! Everything was excellent -- very friendly staff, impeccable facilities, and the food sublime. Visit Brandywine Prime; you will not be disappointed.

Always consistent the filet is always awesome and service is perfect every time. with a good wine and grewt drink list this place is a must try. Great bartenders at this place. Host staff need to liven it up a little ;-)

Been coming here for dinner for years and booked a private retirement party event in the Mill room. The food, drinks and service was outstanding! Everyone raved about the food and server’s. Anthony and Sarah did an awesome job making sure everyone had an awesome experience.

Delicious food and great service. I came with a bus full of people who, to me, seemed kind of hard to deal with. The staff was so friendly and polite to all the guests and I give them 5 stars just for their patience! The pumpkin ravioli were to die for and the chicken was so tender!

We are here on early (5:30) in a Friday evening, and the upstairs was quiet and private. One thing I loved was that I saw one of the servers as soon as we arrived checking all the tables for wobbles (a pet peeve of mine) and fixing one that wobbled. We got oysters (the only thing I wouldn’t get again because they were small), seafood ravioli, bisque, and two specials: the lobster cake and peppercorn NY strip. Everything was good. Our server Jerry was helpful and friendly. We got a special dessert- bourbon crème brûlée, which was also great.

I had a phenomenal anniversary dinner here tonight. The oysters were so fresh! The octopus was very tender. The fried mozzarella was delicious. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Even the house red wine was delicious. We can’t wait to come back!

We have gone here for many years on special occasions because it is near the gardens and other stuff. Brandywine prime has absolutely fantastic food and service! Lately I've been especially in love with the fantastic locally sources mushroom dishes. Don't miss the kennett square mushroom tart!

This was our first time at Brandywine prime. The drinks were excellent. Our waitress Janine was extremely friendly and took the time to explain different drinks and meals on the menu. The food was very good and the bread and butter were amazing! We will definitely be going back soon and hopefully we will see Janine again.

Absolutely love Brandywine Prime. Always a good time and delicious food! Service is always top notch! And I highly recommend the filet with blue cheese, melts in your mouth! The Italian pear martini is amazing and after dinner definitely get an espresso martini! Expensive but you get what you pay for!

Looking for a good steak place and was pleased to find Brandywine Prime. Wife and I came here on a Tuesday night and got a table no problems. Would recommend getting a reservation towards the weekend. We each ordered a mid priced steak and was not disappointed. Extremely flavorful and tender. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Great place for a date. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Will go back again next time we are in the area.

I fell into this unassuming traditional steakhouse by accident, the food was great. The appetizers are awesome. Staff were engaging, friendly and helpful.

Wonderful food, service, ambiance, and selection! Also, great happy hour! My wife and I went in for a drink and wound up staying for hours! The groovy blues music in the background didn't hurt either! We'll be back.

One of the few real restaurants left. Great food, but prices are slightly higher. The range was between $20 for pasta dishes to $125 for a 14oz. Wagyu beef steak. Which I might add was delicious and perfectly done medium. The atmosphere is not quite what I like, a little to much saloon style. But that being said, it shouldn't be about that to much anyhow. It's about the food. 🧑‍🍳

Bartender (I believe his name was Alex) was excellent with recommendations, conversation and cocktails. Facilities were delightful, antiquated and quaint, but not stuffy. Facilities were clean, food was outstanding and prepared perfectly and presentation was fantastic. We were very close to closing time, but welcomed in and never felt rushed. We were catered to as if we were in the middle of the dinner rush, even though we were some of the last patrons there. An excellent dining experience all around.

My family pre-ordered to go Thanksgiving dinner from BP. My Mom is recovering from a broken knee and my Stepdad picked everything up on Wednesday. We agreed as a family on Harvest Salad, Mushroom Soup and Carrot cake for dessert. Standards were turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, green beans, focasia bread and cranberry sauce. Salad 5 stars, soup 5 stars, turkey 4 stars, gravy 4 stars, sweet potatoes 5 stars, regular potatoes 5 stars, stuffing 4 stars, green beans 4.5 stars, bread 3.75 stars, cranberry sauce 5 stars and finally the carrot cake 10 stars. The cake was genius and my Mom and I thought the sweet potatoes were so awesome. Also the mashed potatoes green beans and stuffing were very good and the cranberry sauce. Please tell whomever made the carrot cake that I believe it is the best cake I have had in 30 years!

Visited last night for a company dinner. It was very nice. I loved the old building and the food was good. I will say that the coffee wasn’t the best. But that said it is a stake house. But if your not into stake the fish was great and the clam chowder was good as well.

went here for a casual dinner with my family. Very good selection of drinks for adults and children, as for the entree I got (dry aged porterhouse ) it was very tasty , i asked for medium rare, it came out on parr. service was phenomenal. And expectations were indeed met .

The visit started off a little shaky but in the end it was great. The server was knowledgeable and there each time we looked up. The filet was a little light on taste and I was really surprised because that's their specialty. However my wife loved the tartare and it was the highlight. They closed us out with a great anniversary desert which was a nice touch.

The food here, overall, is great. The main issue we had was our server. He had no name tag and didn’t say his name. He had the huge handlebar mustache and a deadpan, flat persona. “Sir, my filet mignon is cold”. Waiter”huh”. And it was even though it was ordered well done. It seemed as if everything we asked was an imposition. Could he have been sentenced to work here? The filet mignon, halibut and bronzino were all excellent. They had 4 different types of oysters and were outstanding. We would go back and either sit at the bar or not sit in this waiters area. Oh, just found receipt.. server Chris H.

This is a nice restaurant for a steak dinner. The building is wonderful, originally built in the 1700s as per manager. The food was tasty. Our only complaint would be that our table was so off balanced we had to keep our feet on the bottom of it so we could cut our steak without the table rocking. They need to check that tables are sturdy before allowing patrons to sit there.

Service was good, but food came out oddly. Truffle fries ordered but regular fries came out. The chopped salad was iceberg only and had maybe 4 halved cherry tomatoes, 2 slices of cucumbers, and that was it for veggies. The bourbon bacon bits were so small, I thought they were shaken out of a jar (they weren't but they were teeny tiny). Dressing was watery. French Onion soup was a nice size as well as the black bean chili. Overall food was meh at best. Nice place, nice server.

Overpriced, overrated, surly service. Mediocre food. Filet mignon was tough (??!!) salad was unimaginative. Should have gone to the Italian place next door 2 nights in a row.

T
Talin Marino

Food was good, but not unbelievable. Starter bread and butter was lacking, bread was not warm. Cheese plate was nice. Filet mignon was excellent! Did not enjoy the creme brulee. Service and atmosphere was not what I expected for a restaurant at this price point. Felt very casual.

E

Went there because I heard that the steaks were good, well they mediocre at best for the price. You would think that dry aged would have flavor but me and my party thought the same very bland. The service was great and shoutout to Michael for a wonderful experience. We will not be returning any time soon. Spent $$$$ for a $$ meal

Traveling from out of town. We decided to eat here because, if I'm correct, the restaurant is in a former house/hotel/tavern that dates back a couple of hundred years ago and I'm a sucker for stuff like that. We had reservations so were seated right away. The waiter was a really nice guy and answered any questions we had. I ordered a coffee rubbed sirloin with melted blue cheese. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food to come out. My steak was cooked to my requested temperature but was extremely tough. We ordered desert to go, had a bit of a wait for that to come out, then an additional wait for them to settle our bill. Overall, it wasn't the worst restaurant experience I've ever had but for the money we spent we were pretty disappointed in the quality of the food and speed of service. We'll pass on this place the next time we're back this way.

We stopped here for dinner on our way to Longwood Gardens. I got the Short Ribs with a lump crab cake, the steak was tasteless and the crab cake was a bunch of shredded crab pieces. My husband got the Coffee Rubbed Steak which was tough and tasteless. For the price you pay we expected better quality food. The atmosphere was warm. and welcoming and the service was good. We will not be back.

We will not be back. My husband made us a reservation for our anniversary and I can hands down say the nicest and friendliest person we met there was the valet guy, Richard. We were sat at our table, given menus and specials were never gone over. Our waiter , an older grumpy guy, finally comes over 20 minutes later to give us water, ask if we want anything else to drink and then leaves. Doesn't even bother to take our dinner order. The entire time we were there he never gave us his name. We finally were able to put our order in and the food was subpar - only 2 of our dishes are even worth writing about. Crab Dib - was amazing but for the portion it was not worth the $18 price tag. French Onion Soup - Probably one of the best French onion soups I've had. This soup literally saved them from a 1 Star review. Salads - mine was DRENCHED in dark balsamic, it was barely editable it had so much dressing on it. My husband's was a grilled Romain that was to large for the plate and they didn't even bother to cut the stem off the bottom. 30 Day 14oz Dry Aged NY Strip - We both ordered this. We are steak people and have had steak from a lot of fabulous places. This steak doesn't even deserve to be on the menu at Outback let alone some places that is charging $70 a steak. We both ordered it medium, only one was cooked properly and mine was RARE. It had absolutely NO flavor. I should NOT have to add salt and pepper to a $70 steak, let alone use a "steak sauce". But then again if a steak is automatically served with a steak sauce - we should have known it would not have been up to par. We didn't bother getting dessert because we didn't want to be disappointed and waste even more of our money. Save your money and take a drive to Steak & Main in North East, Maryland. Outstanding service and steaks and not as expensive.

M
Mark Snyder

Very disappointing. The steaks were room temperature and not very flavorful. The table next to us had the same issue. The salmon was cold. I could have gotten a much better cut of steak at Giant for a lot less money. The salmon was cold. We went because we had a gift card. Will not go back again. I could get the same steak at Outback for a lot less money.

C
Cheryl B

Overpriced for the quality of the food and service. We went on a Saturday night. It was not very crowded but they sat people very close to one another. They put a table of twelve people next to us when the restaurant was fairly empty. There was nothing about the meal or service that warranted a $100 a person. We will not be back.

(PLEASE CONSIDER GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE). I went here with a party of 8 and had high expectations. Eight of us ordered, (very expensive), steaks and they ALL were way overcooked. Four of us sent the steaks back and they came back only marginally better. Brandywine charges New York prices, (60 plus dollars per steak), and gives you a surprisingly low quality and poorly prepared steak. I would strongly recommenced NOT going and spending your money elsewhere. We honestly felt scammed. On a positive note, our server was great, empathetic and frustrated about the performance of the kitchen staff - but, we will never go back.

P
Philip D

Overpriced and poor quality. Steaks are very poorly made. Sides are small and no better than a microwave option. Save your time and money - this is not a legit steakhouse moreso a bar with a restaurant.

B
Beth Lowe

The bartender was incredibly rude. He ignored us and then told us he'd get to us when he could. We left the bar and went to our table. The food was very mediocre for the prices they charge. they also nickel and dimed us. Someone was charged for fancy olives she neither ordered or received. We were charged for splitting a $14 salad. Dinner also took way too long, even for a large group. We eat out 3-4 times a week and it never took this long.

J
Jodi Ciociola

Food quality was not good at all. The basic wedge salad had no blue cheese crumbles which was on the menu, barely any dressing (we had to ask for more) and bacon was hard to find or even taste. Short ribs were not what you would expect, especially for the price point. First and last visit here. Service was good.

b
brian di paul

I had french onion soup it was okay the baked potato was undercooked an old the cowboy ribeye steak at $80 wasn't even seasoned and it was a little tough I'm never going back

Keeping it brief - do not come here if you want a good experience. Our waiter was disinterested and apathetic. The food was under-portioned and over-priced. We came here a lot before Covid, but clearly this restaurant did not hold up post Covid. They are relying on the fact that they are the only “upscale” place in the area. They’re mailing it in, and it’s sad. They need to figure out why they are okay with giving bad service and subpar food. 1/5.

I had a horrible experience with Brandywine Prime while hosting a baby shower for a client. The manager and staff were extremely rude and made us feel like we were a burden. We arrived an hour early to set up, as required, and were treated like we were asking for a favor. The customer even apologized for our early arrival, like she did something wrong! 😔 After the event, we were told to arrive between 3:30-3:45 pm to break down. I arrived at 3:46 pm, and everything was thrown out like trash. Don't waste your time and money on this place. The staff's attitude is unprofessional, and they'll treat you like you're begging for their service. Not recommended for parties or events.
