Not sure why, as of now, the rating for this outstanding spot is only 4.1. It was the best meal I have had in Italy thus far: simple, tasty, locally inspired, and with an engaging group of employees/owners! Excellent lunch for four, featuring fresh, well-prepared fish. What initially seemed like slow service was actually meticulous attention to detail. I believe nothing is pre-prepared, but everything is made to order, cooked to order, and synchronised with the table orders. My only criticisms were the table setting, which was set directly on the table without a tablecloth, placemat or runner, and the ventilation, which, for a long, narrow restaurant, was barely adequate on an early September morning. Definitely worth returning for.

We stopped at this place while visiting Chiavari for the first time. I had read about it on Tripadvisor and was a little wary of the “Moderna” in the name, which usually means presentation over taste…

We ordered seven different dishes and only liked two out of seven. To be honest I found the overall rating on Tripadvisor a bit misleading.

A couple's evening at this restaurant. We went for dinner after being recommended by acquaintances. When booking, I specifically asked if the restaurant had air conditioning, given the heat; otherwise, I would have opted for another restaurant in the area. They said, "Of course!" When we arrived, however, there was no air conditioning, and if there was, it was "Not available." The door was wide open, so the temperature was the same as outside. I definitely won't be returning because honesty is essential when you're in public, and I don't like being made fun of. The food may be good, but sometimes it takes a back seat!

Not worth the money, small portions and nothing special. But you can see that the chef put effort into the presentation. The staff was not very welcoming. The place was nice but not very cozy.

Our experience was not really nice. First of all, we wanted to make a reservation at 20:30, and the restaurant told us to make the reservation for 21:00. This was not a problem but I will come back to it later. After we got the menu we had to wait roughly 30 min. until we could order (the restaurant was not full). We ordered 1 Antipasti and 3 secondi. The Idea was to share the Antipasti. However, the Antipasti arrived with two of the Other Main courses. That meant after we finished the Antipasti two people could eat but one had to wait. The Other meals were: the fishfillet of the day (really good but very little Portion, and no sides nor a sauce), Fried seafood (Not really tasty, it did Not feel very fresh). And the meal we Had to wait for, was pasta with lobster. The Pasta was okay but Not the crazy experience you expect for 40€. The lobster also was okayish... Coming Back to the beginning... we were Not even finished but we were the last ones in the Restaurant and the staff really made us feel Like they want us gone (because they want to Finish up, it was 22:15). They were artificially kind but Not at all Like the Other Restaurant-waiters we got to know Here. To conclude: Not very Kind, Made us feel Like we need to leave, the prices are actually a Joke for the stuff you get, there are way better Restaurants in the area (price, taste, portion size and quality wise)
