JJ's cafe hits the spot everytime. The food is always amazing. Our server, Jacob, did a phenomenal job.
This little gem in Garland makes you feel like you’ve truly gotten out of town. The interior is contemporary, inviting, and incredibly comfortable—but the real star of this establishment is the food. Not only is the presentation beautiful, but the flavor is outstanding in every bite. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the Charcuterie Breakfast Plate with bistec, and both were incredibly satisfying. Even so, we couldn’t resist trying the French toast—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. On top of the amazing food, our waiter was an absolute joy: knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely happy to be there. You truly can’t go wrong with anything you order. Do yourself a favor and stop by to enjoy this fantastic establishment—you won’t be disappointed.
This was my first time coming here after seeing an ad online mentioning the Garland location. We ended up at this one somehow. Great food and value. It was filling and tasty, we each were very pleased with our breakfast options. Our waiter with the lime green stripe in his hair was very friendly but didn’t offer us coffee until asked, not sure if this is their policy. They definitely don’t skip out on the creamer, we had a huge bowl of it which was nice. Will return!
It looked busy but we got seated right away. We ordered breakfast and it came out right away. Not a fan of the chorizo breakfast tacos, but we loved the bacon and sausage breakfast tacos, potatoes, and divorciados. It was so good we ordered more tacos and churro pancakes. The coffee was excellent and every staff member we ran into provided top notch service. We definitely want to come back again and try the menudo.
We drive from Wylie Texas every other weekend just to have breakfast at this place. Their awesome staff is able to easily manage large influx of customers and at the same time provide awesome customer service. If you drive long distance like us, it is always best to call and reserve a table because they can tend to get really busy. Awesome staff members and great food! 🐓
JJ’s Café is one of my favorite spots for Mexican food! The dishes are always fresh and full of flavor. I especially love how they make their eggs — perfectly cooked every time and seasoned just right. The staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the whole place has a warm, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend for a tasty breakfast or brunch!
I was starving, it was 2PM on a Sunday and I needed to start my (late)day with a hearty breakfast and a hot cup of coffee! Well, I had about 5 but, who is counting? It seems I picked the right spot! The parking lot was FULL so I figured I'd have to wait a bit but I did not! I was seated right away, I was GREETED right away and within less than a minute, I had my hot cup of coffee. I couldn't decide on WHAT to order so I went for the Huevos Rancheros(pictured) since the description spoke to me the most. I decided to add the Asada for a little extra protein. Everything was delicious, flavorful, spicy AND fresh. I will be coming back. Thank you to my server for being such a gentleman!
JJ’s Cafe in Dallas is where breakfast dreams go to live their best life. Let’s start with the super chilaquiles (red)—slightly spicy, perfectly crunchy, and who even thinks of including birria with them, and honestly, if I could legally marry a plate of food, this would be it. I almost wrote them a thank-you card. Then came the green chilaquiles, and suddenly I was in a full-blown tortilla love triangle. They’ve got just the right kick—like they were made by a loving abuela who also moonlights as a spice wizard. Churro pancakes? I don’t even know how to explain the joy. Imagine pancakes went on vacation to Mexico, fell in love with a churro, and their delicious baby landed on my plate. I briefly blacked out from happiness. And the waffle? Fluffy, warm, covered in strawberries and whipped cream—it felt like a rom-com moment where I locked eyes with my food and soft music played in the background. I may have whispered, “Don’t ever leave me.” Service was fast, friendly, and somehow didn’t judge me for ordering enough food to feed a small army. 15/10, will return with stretchy pants and zero regrets.
First off, the food was delicious. They had a wide variety of options and everything looked delectable. Second, the service was slow and we had to keep grabbing our waitresses attention because she never came back to see if we needed anything. Third, poor guy at the front was cashing out patrons while also seating people all by himself. It was crazy with only one desk up front. I'd come again but maybe earlier or only during the week.
The Super Chilaquiles were borderline cold. The chicken was cold and way over cooked. The waiter was good and understanding. Got the Huevos Rancheros instead, the salsa rojo was not good. Overall it was slightly better. Way so many options for breakfast in the area no need to ever return.
The customer service experience was not entirely satisfactory. My wife, who is fluent in Spanish, attempted to order in Spanish, but our waitress chose to respond in English. Interestingly, the same waitress later conversed in Spanish with another table. We also noticed a lack of attentiveness during our meal. We were unaware that straws were available until the end of our meal when a different staff member, who was cleaning tables, offered me a straw, but not my wife or son. This individual also kindly refilled my drink as I was quite thirsty. On a positive note, the ham, bacon, potatoes, and particularly the tres leches pancakes were absolutely delicious. However, the other items were merely average. It is unlikely that we will be returning.
I tried this place for the first time the other day, the service was a little slow, One Lady who didn’t look like a waitress took my order, then it was delivered by some other guy who did look like a waiter, he dropped the food and left. Took me a while to find someone who could get me more coffee, they brought no water to the table I had to ask for, so we’re really didn’t have an assigned waiter, we had to ask for things to any random person who works there and they sound facilítate. Food presentation was OK but nothing special. Food taste was below average to me, nothing special. Room ambience very uninviting.
Me and the family came after church on a Sunday and were seated almost immediately. The service was really good and all the employees were friendly. The presentation of the food was excellent, however, the taste was just not there for me. My wife and kids agreed that the food did not taste like anything. It was not bad but the seasoning was definitely missing. Also, I felt the menu lacked sufficient choices. For instance, I settled for a brisket omelette simple because there was not an "regular" omelette choice, like ham and cheddar or sausage and bacon. Prices were okay, maybe on the higher side but not too bad.
The service wasn’t great. My daughter and I do not speak Spanish and when I stated that SEVERAL times to three different staff members, we were treated less than. The waitress didn’t care to check on us or refill our drinks. We were made to feel like an inconvenience to say the least. The food was good though.
The food was okay overall, but there were several issues that affected our experience. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, but they arrived overcooked, which took away from the quality of the dish. From the moment we walked in, the service felt lacking. We stood at the entrance for about five minutes while a server walked by multiple times without acknowledging us or saying something as simple as, “I’ll be with you shortly.” The service continued to be the main downside. I asked the same server twice for butter and vanilla creamer, and it took a long time to receive them. I then asked another server for butter; they said “yes,” but never brought it. Overall, I felt ignored as a customer. Because of the poor service and lack of attention to detail, I will not be returning. The restaurant has potential, but significant improvements are needed to provide a better overall experience.
Honestly, some of the worst cafe food I have ever had. I ordered the super chilaquiles and steak. The steak was a very small portion not to mention dry as hell. The “chilaquiles” were basically corn chips with green salsa on top. They were hard and just laughable. The green salsa wasn’t bad but over all I just couldn’t take it. I didn’t finish my meal… I paid and left. The server was pretty cool but over all it was very half ass… maybe even quarter ass.
Saw an instagram video on this place and I felt like I was catfished. Atmosphere was next to none, but the service was pretty good. We were seated immediately for my large party. Food definitely looked better than it tasted. We had the chocolate chip pancakes, the California omelette, the French toast, and strawberry Belgium waffles. The pancakes were just ordinary nothing to write home about. Syrup came in to go cups despite us dinning in and it was not warm maybe room temp. The French toast was plain, lacking the vanilla taste and creamy texture that makes French toast well French toast! The butter was not whipped it was hard so not easily spreadable. My omelette was okay, again nothing to write home about. The omelette came with potatoes O’Brien and the waiter said in his opinion they had more flavor than the hash browns. They had no seasoning and were plain. The Belgium waffles were the prettiest of the dishes but honestly, the taste reminded me of the ones you make in hotel breakfasts. Would not recommend, would not come back. 3/10.
Came in expecting a simple, homestyle breakfast and instead experienced some of the worst service I’ve had in a long time. When I first sat down, I asked for water with no ice. The server brought water with ice, which was fine—mistakes happen. Unfortunately, that’s where the understanding ends and the experience went downhill. I arrived at 8:04 AM and placed my order at 8:07 AM. By 8:45 AM, I still had not received my food and ultimately got up and left. During that entire time, no one checked on me, gave an update, or acknowledged the delay. The restaurant was not busy at all—only about 4 tables were occupied out of roughly 35, including mine. I ordered a single entrée and a side of toast. Waiting over 40 minutes for such a simple order, in an almost empty restaurant, is completely unacceptable. I never even got the chance to try the food due to the lack of service and communication. This place was unwelcoming, poorly managed, and a waste of time. I would not recommend coming here.
We drove 45 minutes specifically to try this spot. The tres leches pancakes and the crunchy French toast were delicious. Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent and ultimately disappointing. Our initial server was pleasant, but the second server who took over seemed annoyed and barely checked on us, requiring us to constantly wait for assistance. Furthermore, there was a minor mix-up when my brother-in-law ordered huevos rancheros and received huevos divorciados instead (though we didn't make a fuss). The most frustrating part was the automatic 18% gratuity charge. We were a party of five, yet we were charged as if we were a large group of six. This is particularly unfair considering the poor level of service we received. I only noticed this error days later after checking the receipt. My fault. While the food is good, the inconsistent service and the erroneous, mandatory tip left a sour taste.
