This is my first time eating here because it's close to my office, but it will definitely become a regular spot! The service was very fast and the food is delicious! A three-course meal with water is only $100. They have a wide variety of options plus à la carte choices. They accept card payments.
A real gem for a delicious and affordable homemade breakfast. My only complaint is the coffee, which is too weak and bland. However, for the price, you can't ask for much more. Friendly waiters and fast service. A gem in the city center.
Cozy little restaurant. Very good service. We had an issue with a beer and they were quick to switch it out. The food was amazing. I ordered the chicken with pipian and it was different since they added sunflower seeds but was delicious. My gf ordered the pozole which was also very good. My uncle ordered the enmoladas and they looked tasty. Would recommend and hope I can come back to try other dishes. Also the prices were reasonable for how good it was.
The food is excellent. It has an unparalleled flavor and the quality is second to none, compared to other places where the food is greasy and tasteless. Honestly, compare the price and quality with other places, and you can't find it here. It's delicious and the price is very reasonable.
A great option for locals or visitors who, while in the city center, want to enjoy a home-style set menu. As a traditional eatery, this establishment is excellent: it welcomes diners with a complimentary memela (a type of corn tortilla); the set menu costs around $100.00 and consists of an appetizer (soup or broth), a second course (rice or spaghetti), and a main course (chicken, beef, pork, or vegetable stews). Keep in mind that there is usually a line to get in, although the wait is generally quick—except during peak hours. Highly recommended.
A great option for lunch if you're in the historic center. The food is delicious in terms of both portion size and flavor. The salsa is one of the few I've tried that actually has good taste and consistency. They offer handmade tortillas, which is a nice touch to accompany your meal. There's no cell service inside the restaurant, and the servers don't come very close to the table, but that doesn't detract from the place or the great taste of the food. It's definitely a good place to visit more than once.
Ideal place for breakfast. The place is clean, the waitress is very friendly and fast. The portions are adequate except for the coffee, which is limited to two servings in small cups. The stews are flavorful and delicious. There's no good cell phone signal inside the establishment and no Wi-Fi. The restrooms are clean. I think there are some things that could be improved, but despite that, I would definitely go back. 😀
I was dreaming of a mom's chicken soup for lunch and this delivered big time.
The food is delicious, the portions are very good. I like that they always have vegetarian options, and it's quite difficult to find these types of options in a diner. The service is super fast, and the waitresses are very nice. The place is very pretty, but the bathroom faucets never work, and it gets a bit hot. Bonus points because they made tricolor rice during the national holiday 🥺
If you're looking for a good, attractive, and affordable place for fast food, El Sazón is the ideal choice. The first and second visits were well worth it. The flavor is better than I imagined; they welcome you with delicious sopes and salsas. The portions are more than enough 🔝 The service is super fast even when there were people there. The cleanliness, even in the bathrooms, is excellent. I'll eat here every time I visit the historic center (which is often). I loved the huanzontles I ate that day. <3
Good food, well-seasoned. A variety of daily specials to choose from. The service is fast and efficient. The prices are relatively reasonable for a well-served three-course meal.
Mexican restaurant with a set meal, meaning soup or consommé, rice, and a main dish, plus a liter of natural fruit-flavored water for 140.00 pesos. The tortillas are very good, handmade, and the fruit-flavored water is excellent. The service is super fast; they bring the soup and rice at the same time. If you come at lunchtime, it's busy, so you have to wait in line. I had German soup with cabbage and sausage, white rice with peas and corn kernels, and for my main course, cauliflower with three cheeses. They also have a menu for more elaborate dishes, such as very good tortilla soup, breaded cutlets, grilled meats, etc.
Bad experience, from mediocre to poor. The prices for the meal combo seem economical and in line with the quality, however, it leaves much to be desired. The food has absolutely no seasoning; it tastes like any other basic set meal. The chicken broth was like vegetable soup, the rice was poorly plated (and I'll get to that point later), and the portobello burger was so small and plain that it's insulting to be left hungry and have to order something else from the menu or finish the tortillas (the only redeeming feature). The sopes were AWFUL. Who doesn't fry sopes and instead grills them to the point of almost burning them? The Oaxaca cheese was the worst quality, with a sour and awful taste. It seemed like a vegetarian light dish because there was no protein, but plenty of lettuce. And the service was terrible. From the moment I walked in, the waitress either saw I was desperate or got angry because I asked for just a minute more when they took my order. Throughout my entire visit, she was rude and uncooperative. I asked her about a dish, and instead of answering, she just pointed at it. She never once asked if I wanted a fried egg on top of my rice, and every time I called her, she'd make a face and sigh in complaint. But she was incredibly attentive when I was at the table across from her. What kind of service is that? I find it unacceptable that she even got angry because I didn't want to tip her. Tips are earned; simply providing service doesn't guarantee a good tip, especially if you treat her badly. As a customer, I have enough money to spend. I don't recommend this place.
There are several fondas with this name in the historic center, but with different branch numbers. At other locations, the food and service had been wonderful, but this particular location was the worst of all. To enter, they have a metal chain, and you have to wait until the hostess tells you to, even if the place has several empty tables (I don't understand why). I ordered two takeout meals, and while other branches serve meals in Styrofoam containers inside a plastic bag, and the portions are quite generous, at this branch, they handed me all the dishes so I could carry them all (when there were at least six containers of piping-hot food). When I asked why they didn't give me bags like the other branches, they said they had been giving out takeout food as is since the pandemic, but if I wanted a bag, I could buy one at the checkout (the cashier could have told me from the moment I paid how the food was delivered, so they could offer me a bag if necessary). The bag they offered me wasn't plastic, but one of those "eco-friendly" and very expensive cloth bags. When I got home and saw the food they served me, the portions were much simpler and more miserable than at other branches. Added to that, the grimaces they gave me when I asked about the bag. I honestly don't recommend this branch. The best are definitely the Casona branch on Venustiano Carranza Street and Antojitos Tere, which are owned by the same owner. The service there is incredible, super friendly, and the food is very good. It's clean and located on Uruguay Street. They should definitely standardize the service, the delivery options when ordering to go, and even the price, because some branches charge more for food than others, and you end up with the impression that the food at some locations is good and are hugely disappointed with what you get at others. Anyway, I hope my review helps someone know that the other branches are much better than this one.
Terrible service. We arrived, and no one opened the door for us. When we finally got in and sat down, a waitress exclaimed, "What time did these girls get here?" pointing at our table. I really hope they talk to their girls because this service is going from bad to worse, as if the customer were to blame for them not liking their job.
The food is decent and the service is good. BUT be careful what you order to drink, because unless the water system shown in the photos and videos is connected to excellent filters, the "fresh" drinks are being made with tap water, which isn't exactly the cleanest in the city. For 65 pesos a liter pitcher, you'd expect at least purified water.
It's affordable but has TERRIBLE service. The service is grudging, and it seems as if we're forcing it. It's the first restaurant where a waitress doesn't pay attention and looks the other way. To top it all off, the orange water tasted horrible. We ordered another drink to compensate, and it was also terrible. I ordered enchiladas Suizas, and I think the seasoning went on vacation. Bad, bad, bad flavor. I don't even want to think about dessert. Zero data reception, and they don't have Wi-Fi, so we're practically cut off from communication. I really don't understand why it was so crowded. The best I tried to find something positive couldn't find it. In short, bad service, bad seasoning, no Wi-Fi. And to top it all off, they took a long time to charge us. I don't recommend it. It urgently needs a good restructuring and a quality process.
