if you love food, you should not miss on this delightful cuisine. the food is delicious and who knows the value of good and genuine Indian food, will appreciate the prices, the flavors and the space. you should come! I have been eating here for a lot of years and the quality is always on top
Christmas eve. All restaurants are closing early, and fast. We finally found one still open here. It took them a while to serve the food. The taste of the food turned out to be quite tasty. We particularly like the masala lamb. But overall everything was quite good. Their service is also excellent. We're impressed!
The food is good but it is not authentic Indian food. The butter chicken (on the left) did not taste or look like butter chicken. It was yellow instead of being orange. The only reason I'm giving it 5 stars is because the host and the staff were friendly and provided good service. The owners are Bangladeshi which explains why the food does not taste like authentic Indian food. I had a great conversation with the owner's friend who was visiting from Bangladesh and that made my experience even better.
México with all the moles and then, it comes this Indian food place so good and authentic. All the flavors were amazing 🤤 My best: Chicken Masala and Tikka Jalfrezi Beef The only thing is the decoration of the place, but look, it makes a hole vibe so, don’t be picky and just eat (looots)
Great hidden gem.. The food was delicious Taste super authentic and if you go to the toilet you can see who is in the kitchen cooking authentic Indian food with the right spices. Spice level moderate which makes it great. We order rice naan aloo Gobi dal palak paneer chicken Tikka samosas and everything was authentic and deliciously prepared. I would recommend it- have tired lots of Indian places and I haven't found the right one until this one. Also priced accordingly. Could call it best Indian place in Cdmx
First time Indian food here. It was tasty although better chicken didn’t blow me away. The chili masala was good. The naan was also tasty. The TINY drinks where a disappointment. Ordered lemonade but pacing my self to not finish the drink before the meal was very annoying especially since overall it was a bit overpriced. The service could be more welcoming and friendly. I will come back again because the food was good.
I enjoyed my visit to Taj Mahal Restaurante Indio in CDMX. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with traditional decor that really sets the tone. The service was friendly and attentive throughout. Staff were happy to explain dishes and made sure everything was to our liking. As for the food, it was good overall—especially the biryani and palak paneer. The naan was fresh, but the flavors across dishes could’ve been a bit more bold or layered. Still, definitely worth a visit if you’re craving Indian food in the city. Would return for the hospitality and vibe to try other dishes!
As someone who probably has eaten Indian food for 50% of his meals throughout his life, I just recommend that if you know Indian food well - find another spot to go to. The service was very attentive and everyone was really kind. The food was pretty sub par (dry chicken, thick daal, naans that were more similar to pita bread, overcooked rice). Tl;dr: if you know Indian food, find somewhere else. If you’re not that versed in it, then this place will probably scratch an itch.
I would not recommend this restaurant. We went there for dinner, and we both agreed we would never go back or recommend it. The menu is somewhat limited, and the food quality isn't the best. The restaurant itself is a bit shabby. It looks much better in the pictures. I ordered the eggplant curry based on another review, but I thought it was mediocre. The samosas were the best part of our meal. I liked the sauce that they served with them. The server (owner?) seemed a bit grumpy at first, but he was friendlier toward the end of our meal. If you are looking for a good Indian meal in Condesa, I would look further.
We recently visited the restaurant. And I don't know where to start. Everything was so disappointing, highly costly and no taste in food. We waited an hour for our food to be served and that also was uncooked. Extremely bad experience. We chose the restaurant after seeing reviews. I seriously doubt if those are real or not. Please do not waste your money visiting this place.
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was too frustrating to ignore. The restaurant is seriously overrated and ultimately very disappointing. The first thing I noticed was the dirty tablecloths, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. While we were trying to order, a person—who I assume was the owner—sat right in the entrance area watching loud videos and taking phone calls, which made the atmosphere feel unprofessional and chaotic. Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for any of it. The quality was poor, lacking both freshness and flavor. The service also seemed tired and unengaged, as though the staff just wanted to get through the evening. Overall, not a place I’d return to or recommend.
Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. The service is incredibly terrible. The lady serving us was incredibly rude and condescending. The owner sits by the door of the small restaurant talking loudly on the phone. Mexico City has tons of amazing food, don’t waste your time or money here.
We ate here twice on a previous trip to Condesa in Feb 2025. We enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. There was an older couple who I think were the owners. The food is less spicy than many Indian restaurants which we liked. Unfortunately our experience this time was completely different. The young man who served us never smiled or seemed at all interested in helping us. We don't speak much Spanish but in every other restaurant we have been to in CDMX, the staff try to help us with the menu. Not in this case. Also when we asked for water with dinner we asked for a larger bottle for the two of us. He told us they only carried small bottles. They were 330 ml each and we were charged 40 pesos per bottle. By comparison we bought a 1.5 L bottle for 15 pesos at a store today. So we were charged 80 pesos for 660 ml. What a rip off! I don't know if the restaurant is under new management now but I would definitely recommend you avoid it now!
Visiting Mexico City from Canada for a week. We were craving Indian food and decided to come here given great reviews. We were looking for a hole in the wall place. We had butter chicken with naan, and veggie biryani. It was exceptionally bad, bland, and poor quality. It truly did not taste like any Indian or Pakistani food I’ve ever had (being south Asian, I grew up on this food). Overall very poor quality food, tasteless, and not authentic. Unfortunately doing a disservice to locals who would benefit from better Indian food. Sorry never leave any reviews but being South Asian, it was very disappointing.
I honestly felt that this place was overrated! The restaurant wasn’t clean. They sat us in some back room where the table cloth was dirty and had a whole bunch of stuff on it. The food was okay. The biryani and naan were not hot (temperature wise). The vegetable-daal was sour in taste. The paneer had too much salt. I’m not sure if this is Indian cuisine. The dishes are written like Bangladeshi dishes and not Indian dishes. For some reason, I just didn’t understand the hype. The server was not friendly, either!
