Seller place. Excellent food, nice portions, great staff, fare pricing. Fantastic location great view of river. Shout out to staff, we arrived at opening, large group came in. Got very busy and our app took a while t ok come out. Server apologies for delay. I must say they went above expectation to make it right without my asking. My hats off to staff for that. I only wish I could remember the young ladies name. Thank you channel side.
Loved the place! I had the Island Burger and upgraded from chips to fries and everything was delicious! The waitresses were very nice and made sure we were comfortable sitting outside. Will definitely go back again!
We happened to come on a Sunday evening and it was packed. We were lucky to grab some bar seats and avoid the long wait. We were lucky that the bartenders were wonderful and very attentive because about 5 mins after we ordered our food the power went out in the whole area for the rest of the evening. We were very lucky because somehow our food still made it out and was pretty good. The prime rib was a big healthy portion and was cooked pretty close to medium rare. The scallops were a little chewy and didn’t have a char on them but they weren’t bad considering what just happened. At that point we were just happy to have food. The bartenders let us enjoy our meal and took down our credit card for when the power went back on. They even texted us a copy of the receipt. We appreciated the hospitality while we were traveling.
Getting toward the end of the season. Deck was closed, but the food was still good. Veggie burger was good and fresh made. Sausage Sandwich was cooked perfectly. Not too busy on a Sunday night. Server, Lori, was very helpful.
Had a reservation. Arrived early and had a drink at the bar. Was kept informed as to when our table would be ready. Specially cocktails were great. Seated shortly after our reservation time. Very short wait for our server to take drink and dinner orders. Salads and dinners were great. Server was prompt and efficient.
Went to Clayton to see a show at the Opera house. Upon arrival Channelside was the first place I went to. I had the Shrimp Scampi, salad and chocolate cake for desert. Everything was 6 stars. Everything was fresh and homemade. This place shines in everyday. My waiter was Dan, and his Hawaiian shirt in October and charisma matched the quality of food and bought everything together. I went to many other eating establishments and Channelside was the only one I visited twice. There really is nothing critical to say about Channelside and if you visit Clayton this needs to be on your list. This was also the first time I could not finish a desert...the deserts are an entree themselves. The best thing, if its not made from scratch then its sourced locally ..a small buisness supporting small buisness. Channelside, keep it up and don't change! Also the prices for waterfront dining is not unreasonable.
We had reservations but arrived early. Short wait for an empty table to be cleared. We had outdoor seating, and the walk to our table was a bit congested - narrow walk space and wait staff scurrying everywhere. Our appetizer, dinner, drinks and dessert were all amazingly delicious. We frequent the area for short getaway vacations and will definitely return.
Deep fried cheese curds (soft and pillowy) with a spicy ( not too spicy)raspberry sauce was heavenly. My husband had the meatloaf, and I had the best pork chop I have ever had in my 62 years on this planet! The mashed potatoes were cold, but they corrected that right away. The service was also excellent. We would definitely go again, between dinner, coffee, and a $20 tip our total was about $100, not bad considering the location.
Deffinitely great place to eat. But read this so your trip is better (in my opinion) Don't try to sit outside if the sun is hot and hitting tables. Almost impossible to enjoy with no umbrellas or shade. But that is just something to realize, not to complain because it's an amazing view of the river. Server was awesome. Hostess was sweet. Porkchop - outstanding!!! Fresh veggies - very good. Burgers - very good. Broiled fish - very good. Fried fish - not worth it, recommend pick a different item but it wasn't too bad. Check out photo of porkchop!
We came on a Sunday night, when most other dining locations happened to be closed. It was very busy and we didn’t have a reservation, but they sat us within 15 minutes! So fast! We sat outside and enjoyed the great view of the river. I ordered the Linguine Bolognese, while my boyfriend got the 50/50 Burger. Everything was delicious, and our server was fantastic! I hope to return the next time we’re in town.
This restaurant is very very loud and was a little slow, but overall it was a good experience. Our server was fantastic and his wife also works there and helped our table a couple times. We all enjoyed our meals. We ate inside, but just inside from the back patio and it is a stunning view, especially as the sun was setting over the water.
Went there on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy, but we had no issue getting a table. We started with some drinks and a few apps. The appetizers fell short unfortunately. The garlic asiago fries were really lackluster in flavor. The loaded smashed salt potatoes were not smashed at all, they were whole and also just alright. I got the shrimp tacos they were really good! flavor was good and amount of shrimp good. My friend really enjoyed her lobster grilled cheese as well. We will still be back next year, but just skip the apps!
Beautiful views. Delicious apps. Fair service. Decent drinks. The appetizers (pretzel, fried cheese curd, and bang bang shrimp) were amazing. The meal (truffle mac and cheese) was not great. The drinks were decent and fairly reasonable. Would come again for drinks and apps by the water. Would not come for the entrees.
My husband and I went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary as we were married in Clayton. Overall the food was pretty good, especially the calamari bruschetta, but the service was a little slow. However, it was early in the season so perhaps they were short staffed or still training staff. We would go back again though.
Service was really good. The food not so much we eat here for dinner started off with the poutine The fries were cold gravy cold and the curds that they were proud to be local were tasteless. The drink my wife ordered was the coconut colada she enjoyed it but it had chunks of ice in it. One of the water glasses we were given have specks of white food all around it. Dinner came and my wife ordered the Ceasar salad and grilled chicken the salad had no dressing and so much grated (not shredded) parm it was very dry. The chicken was burned it was not really edible. We told the server she brought more dressing but still charged for the chicken the owner walked by but never asked how it was. I ordered the Channelside seafood Mac and cheese It said it came with baby scallops and shrimp they served 4 baby scallops and 4 shrimp. The shrimp was drenched in dry seasonings and still had tails that if I wasn't in Culinary it could have been mixed and a choking hazard. The pasta was cold so you can tell they prepare their pasta or buy frozen and drop it per order the sauce was watery and the only Cajun thing in the dish was the mound of seasoning. Took cheesecake to go and it was good except there was peanut butter frosting on top. Not cool whip dairy whip or whipped topping. Very sweet also makes no sense to have frosting. I'll be adding this to my review blog and I'll post a link to it for more reviews around upstate NY and the country. This meal cost us $91 dollars we won't be back.
Twas our first and last time, to try the Channelside cuisine. The shrimp bang, bang, was undercooked and served on the cold side. She then had the philly cheese dinner, which also was undercooked, with a slight gamey/overly salted flavor. The service was best given by the bus boy, whom at least brought my wife a straw for her drink, which we asked our server for 20 mins prior. The poutine was nothing more than fast food fries with basic gravy. Definitely needs to improve at minimum up to par. I had the meatloaf and potatoes, bland and also, once again undercooked. All together, $89.00 worth of dissatisfaction. To the extent of, stopping elsewhere, to fill up on. Prior to returning home. The server should have noticed, due to our plates, clearly attempted but left full.
