100% fresh Always enjoy coming to Scoups. Their ice cream servings are legendary!
This ice cream is all home made! (The cows are actually on site). This is some of the best ice cream I've had in this area. You definitely get your money's worth of ice cream soups.
This year I would like to try a different flavor each visit. So far I have enjoyed Butter Pecan, Root Beer Float & Mint Chocolate Chip!
Conveniently located near the Crossings of Colonie. The ice cream is made on the premises and you can greet the cows who live there too. You can buy beautiful flower baskets next door.
Absolutely 💯 love this place and recommend it to families.
Loved the selection and the pricing was fair for the amount of ice cream I received. I liked the hard ice cream especially the cherry vanilla.
Ice cream was so fresh and creamy! Atmosphere was nice. Got to watch the bull running and jumping around before and after he and the cow got cones for a treat. Definitely recommend it.
They have the best soft serve. It’s so smooth.
Great ice cream. Honest young boy that found my wallet when I went back. He should be commended, curly haired ? Younger boy. Was going to drive to my home. God bless you and Scoops
A great place for ice cream with a group! Always worth the wait!
Randomly found this place one night and WOW they have wonderful soft chocolate and vanilla!!! I think these guys are homemade too! We didnt try their hard ice cream but will definetly be back! Cant believe I didnt know about them sooner! P.s. very clean and doing great covid protocols!
Best icecream I've ever had, Only open for summers but when they are open there is always a crowed to be prepared to wait but it is welll worth it....super friendly staff and Low prices and big servings aswell as picnic tables
I have been to Scoops a few times now and so far have loved all the flavors of ice-cream that I have tried. It is a cash only ice-cream stand so be prepared with cash.
Best place ever been ice cream so good and beautiful plants
I'm mildly lactose intolerant but somehow I don't have any reaction to the ice cream here. It's tasty and the prices are super.
On our trip home after a long weekend in the Adirondacks, we stopped here for ice cream and wow was it great! Double thumbs up!!! Highly recommend.
Lovely location next to The Crossings of Colonie park. Great ice cream selections, both soft serve and hard. Came for a first date, definitely went well. Lol.
Open again for the season! The homemade ice cream is the best, and eating areas are available outdoors. They only take CASH, so go prepared. For me and my husband, we might spend around 6-10 $ on average. They've got a little something for everybody: hard ice cream, soft serve, frozen yogurt ice cream (I think), sugar free flavors.... all sorts of goodies. There are not too many shaded spots to sit, but not an issue for me, personally. Cows are always munching when we go there; there will most likely be flies, but they don't bother us too much. Also, careful sitting on the tables; they are a little light. Don't let your kids stand on the seats!
The 2nd best butter pecan ice cream I've ever tasted (the best had candied pecans in it) and I love that they have waffle cones as an option for those of us who don't like the texture of sugar cones. The person I was with has eaten at world class restaurants and said it's better than some of the most expensive ice cream he's ever tasted. $9 for two ice cream cones we both couldn't stop talking about for an hour afterwards is a great price.
The ice cream is delicious. The staff are friendly. The prices are reasonable. I live close to a very popular ice cream shop, but I drive out of my way to get ice cream from Scoups.
Hands-down the best ice cream stand in the Capital District. Their salted caramel shake is ridiculously good. The hard ice cream and Italian ice is homemade and fantastic. I've never find such good Italian ice. My family loves the soft-serve. The only downside: While I love hanging out with the cows, the family isn't as fond...
Portions are HUGE for the money. I ordered the junior size and way too much. Found out later that they have a coco size, that would be more like a kiddie cone. Medium soft serve more like a large + at other stands. Ice cream is delicious. Watch out for the bees!!!
Delicious homemade soft and hard ice cream with rotating flavors of the week. They have Dole fruit flavors and homemade brownies. We come for the shakes and the cows!! As an added bonus you can get the most beautiful flower baskets right next door!
Amazing local favorite! Large selection of soft serve and home made hard ice cream. They offer their flavors of the week on their Facebook. Everything we come here we are blown away by the ice cream. Highly recommended! Definitely worth the wait
Great local ice cream (hard & soft serve) with real live cows. Scoups is attached to a garden center and within walking distance to The Crossings Park in Colonie off of Albany-Shaker Rd. They make their own hard ice cream. Servings are large, even the Jr is pretty big.
Different kinds of ice cream, Dole sherbert, yogurt, toppings, sundae choices. I had Dole. It was so good! Definitely coming back! They even have ice cream for your dog! Cows are there! Staff are helpful and friendly.
All the delicious treats you'd expect plus homemade hard ice cream, generous portions and friendly service! Lots of room to sit and enjoy the ice cream plus pretty plants and garden supplies next door. Love it!
Worth standing in line! Super creamy and portions are plentiful. A small cone is equal to a medium/ large at other places- in size and rich content. They do have a Junior cone available.
Excellent ice cream. I had no sugar added coffee ice cream and it was great. Update ...went again with whole family, crowded but the line moved fast. Fantastic ice cream. Everyone enjoyed it
Well, I'm lactose intolerant, so I can confidently say (my stomach actually) that Scoups use really not lactose free organic milk. Still I love it, not that sweet and delicious. I had vanilla with mint chocolate chips in a dish, yummy 😋.
Great ice cream place.visiting family in the area.close to there home. I small got watermelon dole whip vanilla twist.it was a large portion.
Love this place! I come once a week (sometimes more) all summer long. Great homemade ice cream, and the frogurt is amazing! My favorite is when they have chocolate peanut butter. By the way... Its Scoups not Scoops.
5/14/25: First timers while visiting Albany. ABSOLUTELY delicious soft ice cream. Recommend you only order a SMALL soft ice cream cone because it is “leaning TOWER” of cool deliciousness. In other words, you get a bang for your buck!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Laura & Mark VanValkenburg, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Fantastic sweets and a relaxing local vibe. Enough seating and a cow! Who can ask for more
Amazing options! beautiful and unique flavors! and shockingly huge portions. Such a treat
Best value and taste of any ice cream place around. We live right next a competitive ice cream shop but travel to scoops
This was my first time here and my stomach is sensitive to dairy but I had no issues eating this soft ice cream. It was delicious. I can't wait to go again. My only suggestion would be to put some umbrellas on the tables. We had 5 women 50-80's and we had to eat in the car. The sun 🌞 was blaring.
The icecream flavors are delicious and taste different than what you would get at other places. The fruit flavored icecream tastes very fresh. You get a great deal for the portion size especially with the soft serve. It's nice to checkout the farm animals as well
The ice cream is great, the staff are nice, and they have cows that the kids can say hi to. The only thing you need to do is abandon expectations on what order size means. A small cone is equivalent to a large cone at some lesser establishments. A large cone may induce a sugar coma if eaten by any but the most experienced ice cream connoisseur. It's worth it, the ice cream is delicious, but plan your nap accordingly afterwards.
My wife and I stop for ice cream everywhere we go, and we’ve eaten ice cream all around the world, and this place was hands down amazing. Very milk-forward tasting, with simple flavors done very well. Great base texture. The vanilla soft ice cream is fantastic, don’t miss it. A bit of a line on warm weekend days.
Fantastic little place to stop. It was my first time there. I liked that they had a large selection of hard ice cream. Some if not all the hard ice cream is made by them. The one I choose was delicious. I sat outside at one of the numerous picnic tables. Decent size parking lot.
This ice cream 🍨 spot serves outstanding ice cream. They don't offer a lot of flavors, but they offer enough for some variety. They also serve frozen yogurt. No inside seating is available, but there's plenty of outside seating for a sunny day, and there's even some cows for the kids to see! There prices are reasonable and the ice cream is refreshing, making this an excellent choice for your ice cream craving or family date.
Some of the best vanilla soft serve I’ve ever had. Really incredible, creamy texture. Their hard ice cream is also wonderful. Don’t miss this place if you’re coming anywhere near it!
Best tasting icecream in my area. Currently it's 5$ for a small soft serve but its like a large size. Portions are big. Staff is always friendly. A great selection of ice cream , milkshakes and sundaes. Only takes cash. If you go after dinner expect a line. Always lots of parking. Picnic tables to sit on. I go at least twice a week it's soo good!!
Best place for ice cream in the Capital area. Love the sitting where you can watch the cow, seeing an airplane landing at sunset is nice too. Always choose soft on sugar cone with different twist but I see many people choose fancy other types for themselves. Quality of the ice cream is top notch! You’ll have to line up in busy time. I think they should print out the receipt and have a monitor showing orders in progress.
most delicious 🍦 we come from downstate and try to make our way here especially during summer time. great hang out spot. friendly staff. Stop by and see the 🐄 that resides here. No pics of “Betsy” 🐮, she was 😴 ps: SIZE Does Matter here. small is huge and large is SUPER DUPER BIG , if you want a normal size of 🍨 , then order “junior size” TRUST me in this.
I found of about Scoups through yelp and knew I wanted to stop by before the season ended. The spot is hard to miss, as the parking lot is rather wide. It's a cute spot run out of a barn and the portions are very generous. The flavors are unique and they have classic softserve, so you can't go wrong. Also. There are cows. They are adorable.
Love it, love the atmosphere, just waaay too much for a portion of icecream 🤧 dont get icecream here unless you plan to take the rest home!
First time at Scoops. It was good ice cream as fresh there. A few cows on the field. Will go back and have something different on the menu next time...
Great place to eat fun for the family and kids with the cows. Right next to an awesome park. I ALSO recommend refills of your propane: very fare price. Pies and other goods sold there too!
They were out of peanut butter hard ice cream but said they could use peanut butter sauce and vanilla ice cream in place of the peanut butter ice cream. Obviously, this was a difficult task as it took nearly twenty minutes to accomplish. But the cream is delicious and the cows are a joy to watch.
We like to stop in for a bite of ice cream here during the summer. Couple places closer to home than here, but we'll make the ride for quality. Run into friends here too. Our daughter likes to watch the cows next to the shop.
Nice ice cream place. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. Cones are cheap for the area, but prices have dramatically gone up over the years. Many of the menu pics show incorrect prices.
The soft ice cream was good but i had to leave thier outside picnic tables and eat in my car as their seating area in right next to 2 cows in a small enclosure. The smell of cow manure wasnt appetising.
Hands down best soft serve in all of capital district. I’d give them five stars but it is very annoying that they are cash only. In today’s day and age they should accept card also. In addition they offer an ATM that is sometimes not working so you have to pay extra $$.
prices are decent, though I'd steer clear of the Frogurt. It's vibes are just off, it's not like a creamy frozen yogurt thing. More like Dope Whip consistency without the fruit flavor. Maybe that's exactly what it is, idk. All I know is I've spent too much time talking about frozen yogurt in this review. Also why call it Frogurt? I feel like a toad saying the name when I order it. 4/5
Good home made ice cream. I'd put this in my list of top 20 ice cream stands but not top 5. Moderate wait at 8pm on a beautiful Saturday in late April. I did but try the soft serve, but options were vanilla and coffee which intrigued me.
Ice cream was good except for the insects and flies. They have many tables but eating while you’re sitting is impossible! We couldn’t even enjoy our ice creams
Cash only, and come prepared to wait at popular times! The parking lot needed overflow, and the line frequently goes out into the parking lot where they don't pay attention to the cars. I also liked seeing the cow, but smelling manure while eating was a little weird. Otherwise, the ice cream was delicious and the portions are HUGE! I would definitely go back to try more flavors!
Ah! Their ice cream was heavenly! Creamy and not too sweet. We came as a group and every one of us were very satisfied. They only accept cash so be ready. Parking was not a problem.
Ice cream is great, I love the chocolate twist..but I do hope they are taking care of the cows. I understand dairy cows are naturally leaner but I’ve seen them concerningly thin..also there’s a growth like area on one cow with an open wound with flies landing on it and I hope it will be taken care of.
Great ice cream. They only take cash. It would be so helpful to have a sink or outside handwash area as the ice creams melt and make a mess very quickly.
Good ice cream, but they need to work on their milk shakes. Too much milk and very thin. Not a pleasant texture. I could have just ordered milk and saved the extra expense.
It was fine, but given the many other great ice cream places in the area I probably won't be rushing back anytime soon. Very limited menu and next to no shade for outdoor seating.
The young woman behind the counter kept telling me they were out of the flavors of hard ice-cream I was trying to order and the smell of fertilizer from the cow farm was particularly pungent that day 🤭, so we prefer to avoid Scoups if we can but their business is popular with the locals, especially the kids; that's easy to see.
Decent ice cream with outside picnic table seating. Deduction for TipJar on counter. I’m just tired of this practice.
Okay.... To be fair, I have only been here once. I went last week. I wanted to try a place that makes homemade ice cream. Their sign says "homemade ice cream". They have nice outside tables where you can sit to enjoy the ice cream. It would be better if they had some umbrellas for shade. The farm view with the cow(s) is nice too. I walked up to the back of the line and waited about 5 minutes for my turn to order . Must people ordered soft serve vanilla. Even the junior(kid size) cones are big. Tip, order the junior cone, about $3.50? Prices seem fair. When I got to the front of the line to order, the hill told me I had to go to the other window to order. There were no other customers at either window at the time. I went to the other window. Then I did notice a tiny sign that said "order window". I asked if the soft serve was home made. The girl at the window said" no, it's from a machine", lol. I then asked " Okay, is the hard scooped ice cream home made?". She said yes. I ordered a small Sundae with nuts and paid. Note, they only accept cash. I went to the other window and picked up my sundae. They have it to me, no nuts. I said I ordered them, then they told me they don't have nuts ( which are on the menu on the wall). I said I paid the 50 cents for the nuts and the girl who took the order didn't say anything about not having them. The girl seemed bothered, and didn't really care. The hard ice cream had ice crystals in it as if it was freezer burned. Flavors vanilla and coconut. It was just ok. I'm in no hurry to try this place again.
The ice cream was good. The white picnic tables need to have a weight limit on them. Thought the bench was going to break, not very safe. Sat at a more steadier table.
We got the Uncle Rishies favorite but with chocolate ice cream. The chocolate ice cream tasted like they took vanilla ice cream and threw chocolate syrup in it to make it chocolate ice cream, not a fan. There were also an overwhelming amount of toppings compared to ice cream. And the poor malnourished cow is very off putting while eating it as well,as the benches are right next to him.
Very nice location good for sitting. My only complaint is that the soft serve cones are ginormous. Like not in a good way. I ordered a small and it was larger than my forearm high. Sounds good in theory but with any toppings or just in general, it falls apart and now I’m covered in sprinkles and couldn’t even finish the ice cream t make it to the cone. What’s the point if you could never even come close to finishing? Besides the size flavor is great just would like something that reflects the size ordered for portion control.
Went to scoups today and waited in line which was expected, line wasn’t that long. Although it took more time to make the orders! The girls are not as friendly as when the prior owner had it! The problem was I ordered a medium soft vanilla with caramel sauce and they gave me a small. I also ordered a medium twist. The portions are not as they were in the past either. Don’t think I will be going back, which makes me sad because the ice cream is really good!
Worst experience to date!! We got the scoops (pretty amazing size), but didn’t get to enjoy it. My kids got attacked by wasps!! They were everywhere! My 4 year old dumped his ice cream on the ground without having a bite; my daughter had a complete panic attack.. tears and the works… plea to the owners: track down the wasp nest and get rid of them!
This place is awful! went there with some friends the other night first off it’s cash only second of all I had to use the bathroom and had a medical ID to prove that me having to go and go bad was caused by my medical condition but yet they were giving me a hard time over allowing me to use their non public restrooms. The staff was pretty rude as well. I just left. Not sure if I’m going to patronize this place again. The ice cream was good and this review had nothing to do with the ice cream.
Good ice cream and service but wow... I have never seen a bussiness to allow a yellow jacket infestation to be present when people eat outside. Several other ice cream places in the area do not have this issue. They made the visit unplesent since we were constantly having the yellow jackets land on the ice cream in my hand. Management you need to take care of the yellow jacket problem.
Hot fudge sundaes are $9.75. They’ve been out of hot fudge the last 3 times I’ve went. I waited 47 minutes in line and then 20 mins for the ice cream to come out. The ice cream is good and the girls behind the counter are nice so those are both 2 great things.
I came here and I ordered cake batter ice cream. They put my ice cream in a dish so it wouldn’t spill. When I received my ice cream of course I began to eat it. A couple of times in I tasted some sort of nut. I spit it out on a napkin and it was indeed peanuts which I am allergic to. I became scared and I went over to the counter and asked a worker if they mix the ice cream scoopers in multiple ice creams she told me yes. I told her I was allergic to peanuts and cross contamination happened and peanuts ended up in my ice cream. She of course apologized and asked if I wanted something else or a refund. I asked for the refund. She then spoke to her manager as well as other workers. I heard someone in the back say “if she was allergic to peanuts she would be going into anaphylactic shock” (I haven’t swallowed the peanut. I bit into it and immediately spit it out in the napkin. I still had the napkin with the peanut on it at the window) the girl then came out and said that her manager told her she is unable to process the refund because I didn’t tell them I was allergic to nuts. I said I would like to think an establishment as such would have proper cleaning procedures for their tools to where if I’m ordering cake batter ice cream…that’s that. I shouldn’t have to mention I’m allergic to nuts. She mentioned that cross contamination happens a lot of the time. so being that they weren’t aware of the allergy they can’t give me a refund. When I mentioned the issue before she gave me 2 options. She said I can order something else or get a refund. Well if you’re telling me you guys do a lot of cross contamination with your tools….I only have the one option which is the refund. I can’t order anything else if cross contamination is what happens here at the establishment. I was also told it’s not their fault so they can’t refund it. It was a small size ice cream order (about $5) They were not clean with their tools…..I didn’t get to enjoy my ice cream or receive compensation for the mistake.
