October 2025–Dinner at La Calabria which is a hidden gem inside the Riven Rock Ranch with great views, food, and service. The restaurant is open Thursday and Friday nights (4-9pm) and Saturdays (noon-9pm) with reservations available online via Toast. We were able to bring our dog and sit outside on the patio; enjoy food, drinks, and live music; and watch the sun set. Menu included in the post.
Our first time here, the food was excellent I had The Florentine pizza, full of flavor, nice light char on the crust thin but not too thin and nice and tender. The Tiramisu was excellent as well. It was clean and had amazing views, a big outdoor patio with live music and the inside dining room was full of character. The service was good the atmosphere was comfortable. I will definitely be going back.
Just ate there and the food was amazing. I had the Shrimp Toscana and my wife had the Florentine and both were delicious. Watching them cook in the wood fired oven was great and added to the ambience. Great views from the Patio. I am already looking forward to going back.
Came for dinner with my family and the food was really delicious. The view is nice and I recommend walking up the water tower for a look at sunset. I got the shrimp pasta and it was delicious. Very creamy
My mom, sisters, and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and made reservations ahead of time. We would absolutely recommend this place! We ordered an appetizer, 3 entrees, and a dessert, and shared them amongst ourselves with no complaints. I personally LOVED the special - some sort of Cajun-style pasta with sauteed portobello mushroom, sundried tomatoes, and sausage I think, but we also ordered the Bee Sting pizza, salad, tiramisu, and spinach dip with chips, which were ALL so delicious! The setting and beauty of the environment is serene and relaxing, with beautiful views. I did knock off a star for service, as I felt it was lacking from our waiter when, on multiple occasions, dirty plates or empty glasses weren't removed from the table and instead pushed to the side to make more space for incoming dishes, and when our water ran low and completely out he never offered to refill it... he just seemed a little less involved and more aloof with our table, but overall not a huge deal. When we find ourselves in Comfort, TX again I'm sure we'll be back!
Incredible! Take the lovely drive to La Calabria for delicious Italian food- you won’t regret it. We enjoyed authentic wood fired Italian pizza with a fresh homemade dough (that our server had made just hours before we arrived) and a lovely assortment of pastas and salads and appetizers, last Saturday with our local Ferrari club. Cole was gracious to book a reservation for 35 and we all were impressed with the venue, views, vibe and hospitality. We can’t wait to go back!
Our group of eight people had a fantastic Valentine's Day dinner here last night.
Beautiful scenery and delicious salads, pizzas and lasagna. I had not tried so many pizzas! They captured the essence of Mexico’s corn in a cup in their pizza. Amazing! All of them were delicious and freshly made. Would love to go back again.
The views are the best in the Hill Country!!! There was live music and the appetizers were great!!! The flies were really bad and it was hard to eat our meal. My family really enjoyed their pizzas!! I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The Alfredo sauce had no flavor nor seasoning. That could just be how they make it (I could be spoiled with my homemade Alfredo with extra Parmesan). The pasta noodles were amazing!!! My sister got the Pasta alla vodka and she loved it!! The perfect amount of sundried tomatoes!! My dad got the lasagna and he loved it as well!!!! I want to go back and try a different dish. Overall the experience was amazing!!
Hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country! 5-star pizza and atmosphere. Who knew? We’ve always sat outside usually watching the picturesque sunset. However, the inside has small Italian-like cottage feel. The Bee Sting pizza is a well balanced pizza with a little kick. Everything we have gotten here has been great! Limited hours and times so we normally make a reservation.
If you’re looking for the best steak or pizza in the Comfort area, then you need to visit La Calabria Pizzeria restaurant. Went with a party of great neighbors, and I was in for a total surprise. Our party had all the food picked out from a short menu, before we arrived. The atmosphere was so relaxing, that I felt like I was in another country. The violinist (Aaron)that was playing, was so beautiful to watch and listen to. Waitress began serving fillet and Seabass, with asparagus / potato cuts. Fillet was so tender you could almost cut it with a fork. Seabass had this sauce that was out of this world. We all couldn’t believe how great this meal was. The best steak in the surrounding area. The chef (Dillon)came out to see how we liked the food. Nothing but 5 STARS from us. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🌟
Picked a great day for a drive into the Hill Country for a lunch date. Just under an hour drive from San Antonio… this place was a great spot for outdoor dining and good Italian food. We luckily arrived with no people and it was nice to enjoy the scenery in peace😁 - #ceasarsalad $10 just like any other salads - #burratapizza $28 I love a good burrata and while this was pretty good (IMO) it was off because it was cold pizza dough vs fresh out of oven. For the price, would recommend skipping and go straight to one of the brick oven pizzas. - #pastaallavodka $22 this dish reminded us of Italy because of how el dente (undercooked) half of the rigatoni was but the portion was big 👌🏾👍🏾 - #florentinepizza $24 what a #freshbrickovenpizza should be like and loved this one. Tasted great and dough was chewy👌🏾 liked how they did crumble sausage and how it covered the pizza. Overall great experience and recommend checking this place out
Absolutely my favorite part of our trip! Amazing food! Great scenery. Staff was welcoming- friendly and enjoyed the experience with us. Wore golf clothes after a day on the course and felt at home! Great Comfy and dressy mix! Can’t wait to come back and try it again!
My favorite restaurant I’ve ever been to! From the incredible ownership, who is so friendly and genuine, to the warm and inviting staff, to the recipes filled with stories and family history, to the incredible Texas Hill Country views and atmosphere, it’s simply impossible to visit La Calabria and not have an all around 10/10 experience!! Everytime I go I love it more and more!!!! Can’t wait to be back next week!!!

This place and the whole drive to/ from it are gorgeous. We had a great time walking around outside, where we attended a catered event under a gazebo. It is perfectly suited to a very nice and memorable anniversary or a engagement dinner. The lasagna, salad, and spinach bacon dip with tortilla chips were quite delicious.
The atmosphere at La Calabria Pizzeria was absolutely breathtaking, the food was out of this world, and the service was just as impressive. Truly a hidden gem that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough!

This was our second time eating here and we can't wait to come back! I live in DFW and visit the area often with my daughter who lives in Boerne. Let me just say, DFW does not have any views like La Calabria and the food is so good! In one word, perfect! I'm anxious to come sometime for the gospel day brunch as well and enjoy the Lord's day in the majesty of his creation.
What a wonderful restaurant. Almost ashamed to admit that I’ve lived here for 30 years and haven’t visited the restaurant until tonight. I was overwhelmingly surprised! What a wonderful location, beautiful view, wonderful staff. The food was excellent and complimented the beautiful environment. If you haven’t been you should go. Get a reservation for this weekend. You won’t be disappointed. We sat outside and enjoyed live music from Shane Stumpf while enjoying a wonderful conversation with our kids. Looking forward to our next visit.
The food here is amazing! We had the spinach dip, Caesar salads, Shrimp Toscana, Figgy Piggy pizza, and tiramisu — all wonderful. We had a 4 p.m. patio reservation that was canceled due to rain, but they were able to fit us in later the same evening (on Valentine’s Day!) They had plenty of patio heaters and offered blankets as well. Live music - a vocalist with a lovely, angelic voice - topped it off. Definitely worth the drive from San Antonio. Can’t wait to go again. 💜
Love the atmosphere and setting. The food was ok. The lasagna bolognese was not great. It was like eating a spoon full of bolognese topped with cheese. We couldn't find any noodles. One friend got the spaghetti with meatball. The server came back after ordering to inform her they were out of spaghetti but would do it with linguine if she was ok with that. She agreed and was happy with it. The only complaint she had was that the meatball was very spicy. The pasta a la vodka was very good, however the server told us it was NOT spicy. Well let me tell you, it was SPICY! My wife and friend both ordered it. My wife took one bite thinking it was not spicy like we were told and she was on fire. She is a spice whimp so that was not a good choice for her. We switched because I love spicy. It was HOT. Even for a spice lover. But, it was delicious. The bread sticks were delicious, covered in cheese and the marinara was great. The pizza looked amazing and we were upset we didnt get it after our meal. The server never asked of there was an issue with the lasagna as it sat there on the table with one half bite taken out of it. Bill came and we paid without complaint. Lesson learned, stay away from the lasagna and prepare for sweating with the pasta a la vodka. We will go back for sure to try the pizza. I say try it if you have never been. It is a wonderful welcoming environment. Just know to prepare for the heat. Someone is obviously very heavy handed with the peppers in the kitchen.

Beautiful location. Great menu- food and wine. We're advised that they had plumbing issues so limited menu, which was fine. Not sure if that was across the board. Sat inside, would definitely do outside next time. Food was good, pizzas very good. Service was slow. Overall great experience.
Sightseeing near Comfort, and pulled in to get some lunch. A bit off the beaten path, but the website (and 4.8 Google score) looked like it would be worth the effort. A beautifully designed, charming little restaurant in a nice setting. Atmosphere is an A+. The process of getting seated with only about 10% of the seats filled was slow. The staff appeared distracted and confused. After getting seated, I quickly noticed the pizza oven. I'm a sucker for good brick/wood fired pizza! I ordered simple. A house pizza (Maximus) plus 2 extra ingredients (that didn't include onion). My wife ordered the lasagna. Red flag with the staff again as we look and see 4-5 people dancing near the register, as if they're on spring break. The pizza came out, and 1 of 2 extra ingredients was missing and replaced by white onion. While telling the waitress it wasn't a big deal, and I'd just pick the onions off, she made a point to show me the ticket to prove she wrote down what I said, then yelled to the kitchen that they made the mistake. No apology, just a bit more odd behavior. The meal... I prefer a little rigidity in the undercarriage of my wood or brick fired pizza. This wasn't that. The crust had some char, so that was fine. It was just really soft and flimsy. I'd still score it well, if the flavors are there. Cutting to the chase, they weren't. There was nothing special with the toppings. Just bland, to a fault. Maybe because the toppings were so scant? And zero pull to the cheese. It was just odd. When paying $30 for a pizza, I expect more. A lot more. My wife said the same with her lasagna. Bland, aside from an overpowering taste of garlic. And very oily. I had a bite and agree 100%. Well, a pretty massive disappointment, to be honest. The only thing that saves this from a 2 star review, is the ambiance. On the plus side, I did get an apology from the waitress on the pizza as we were leaving.

It is unfortunate that such a lovely venue offers less than mediocre food, service, and atmosphere. The following points are being shared in hopes that the owners will correct since we've experienced these issues over several visits. (1) A lovely cool evening does not require the air conditioning to be turned down where jackets or coats are required on the restaurant's interior. (2) Wait staff should be briefed on table number assignation. (3) Orders should be filled correctly so kitchen return trips are non-existent. (5) Bathroom facilities should be working for restaurant patrons so that they do not have to walk to a nearby cottage. Historically, bathroom facilities have been non-existent and non-existent to the point that only pizzas could be served and not any items prepared in the kitchen. There may be health violations here. (6) Please serve coffee. (7) Please serve beverages in glassware, not plasticware. Owners, please take note and improve so your beautiful facility will offer equally as nice food.
We made a reservation at 4:30 pm and they couldn’t accommodate us on the patio. After some back and forth, they told us we made the reservation for inside, okay deal. We then tried to order the lasagna and they were “sold out” by 5:10 pm. Kristey, our waitress, was fantastic but unfortunately the kitchen staff was too busy going to the bathroom to do COCAINE every 15 minutes. Try to cover it guys, it’s utterly ridiculous that the bathroom was locked “for staff” during business hours. Keith tried it to make the situation better but he was oblivious to anything going on at his own restaurant. As we were leaving around 6 pm…there were tables around 6-8 tables open on the patio. They could have easily accommodated us but refused. We will never be coming back to this restaurant.
