One of my new favorite restaurants. All-around great food, cozy atmosphere and excellent service. Southern hospitality + quality cajun food= a delightful experience.
The food was great. Service was great. Atmosphere is nice.
At there at lunch today. The pulled pork, fried shrimp and peach cobbler were magnificent. Mackinze was cheerful and efficient. I saw lots of appealing things to order. Especially the Cajun style food. I wish they were in Little Rock. It is about 5-7 minutes from the freeway. We look forward to returning.
Great overall experience! I loved the outdoor seating atmosphere, and I tried the Badazz Brisket Burger, which was top tier, chef's kiss. I've never had a brisket burger before, but it was great here.
The food and service were amazing. The ribs were so tender. I had the sampler plate and it was all really tasty. I had never had the boudin balls but they were really good.
Great southern atmosphere and charm, and the food is delicious too! Almost famous? More like, famous enough in these parts. I had their brisket ordered for Thanksgiving, and it is absolutely worth every cent. Everyone is in love with it, and I have no good words to describe how amazing the staff has been to get this prepared for me. Happy hour on the drinks is definitely worth coming for as well. I love all of the little knick knacks, but my favorite has got to be the wooden hogs.
EXCELLENT service. EXCELLENT sizes. EXCELLENT flavors. Came in with a large group and was seated immediately. Ordered and was hot and fast delivered. Will recommend and will come again. Heard the hushpuppies were the best this lady had ever had from a table next to us! We didn't have any ordered. Will try them next time.
Got a Togo order the food itself was very good . However we got no silverware,no bbq sauce for our ribs couldn't eat beans or coleslaw for lack of utensils. However mistakes happen but the staff were friendly while I was there. Just check your order before you leave but don't miss out on a good meal.
My first visit here my son-in-law loves this place went on Saturday night at 6: 30 was busy well worth the wait. Approximate 40 seats inside so plan on a little wait and it's worth it which again it was Saturday night I had the Cajun sausage sandwich with gumbo special wife had the fried shrimp basket and my son-in-law got Gator tacos everybody was happy no food left behind. So that's a good sign 🙂
Ordered bowl of gumbo and a boudin eggroll Togo, extremely disappointed. Very lacking in flavor over all, doesn’t taste like there was a roux or any trinity present. Extra heavy on okra lacking meats. Broth was unflavorful and watery. Rice was cooked okay, not too soggy not too mushy. Nice environment, nice people food overall was lacking a lot of flavor. Boudin was good, nice and spicy.
So I dined here twice so I could try a few dishes. First I had the bbq rib and catfish platter. The fish and onion rings were ok, the hushpuppies just so-so and the ribs weren't too good. They were a little dry and had to be soaked in sauce. Fortunately the sauce has a decent flavor. On the next visit I had the old-fashioned cheeseburger and a cup of gumbo. Their gumbo definitely needs some work cuz it was very bland. Like not a hint of salt and the only flavor is from the sausage. And 6 bucks for that tiny little cup is waaay too grippy. It did come with a slice of Texas toast so there's that. The burger was also just ok, with the patty lacking seasoning. The menu says it's a half pound but it looked more like a third pounder. Maybe it just shrunk alot. All in all it's just an ok place for me. P.S. They should fix that big pothole that's on the driveway into the parking lot. It's a gravel lot so just go get a bag of rocks and fill that in.
We stopped here for a late lunch. It was several miles off the main highway, but we decided to give it a try anyway--not worth the drive or time. The eating area was clean but all the knick knacks needed a good dusting. There were several daily specials posted but without prices and we didn't ask...mistake #2. We got an onion rings appetizer. They were good. I ordered the stuffed potato with brisket. It was room temperature and had one tiny slice of brisket cut into four pieces hidden by cheese and sour cream. It was ok. I mean how badly can you mess up a potato? My husband ordered the Cajun sampler. The proteins were delicious-fried fish, shrimp, crawfish, but that's it. We are Louisianians born and bred. It came with cups of gumbo and red beans and rice. I'm not sure what was in the first cup, but it wasn't gumbo and was pretty much inedible. The crackers with the gumbo were so old, they were rancid. You could smell the odor as soon as you opened the package. The red beans and rice were flavorless except for waaaay too much red pepper (tons of Tony Chacherie's does not make it Cajun). There was Texas toast--should have had hush puppies, but whatever. We drank water. THEN we got the bill--$55 for lunch before the tip. Even though parts of the meals were good, it was not worth the price or the detour.
Ordered online the po boy pulled pork with fries, po boy shrimp and chips, and an order of hush puppies. Both po boys tasted like old meat that had been reheated. The sub bread was hard and dry. Even the side pickle tasted old. Wasted money.
Had really high hopes for this place since they have smokehouse and cajun displayed all over. Overall the entire meal was lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. We got a burger, pulled pork sandwich, gator tail, and a Cajun sampler to try everything. The ONLY thing that had flavor was the beans and rice. That was DELICIOUS. Everything else was very bland. Quite disappointing. If you read reviews from a couple years back they all seem very positive. I should have paid more attention to the recent reviews. They all tend to say the same. I could only eat a bite of the pulled pork sandwich and couldn’t finish it. It was dry and tasted a bit off. Waitress never asked about it, offered other food, or even acknowledged that something was essentially untouched. This place has so much charm and potential…I really hope they change up soon
