Great stop for adult beverages! Owner and employee's were awesome!

My Favorite watering hole in Coronado!!! Saluting Seal Teams 👌 Papa Danny Bernstein

Best burger in CA by a long shot. I have a hard time believing corporate reviews because like the media they are all biased and full of cr@p. The slam burger is awesome. The place is refinished as a SEAL hangout but during the day it's more of a tribute to those who have passed seats. Nights are a whole different story. The day is a great time for family for good burgers and beer! Oh and @david little - your a moron. I think it has more to do with your attitude then where your from. Don't give a place a one star review because your an idiot!

J
Janna Tatreau

Had the best time here! Came in to town on vacation and stopped in for a drink. The staff was so friendly, locals hang, and a chill environment, I didn’t leave til they closed. Rachel is the best bartender so of course I had to come back my next and sadly last night. The best part is the patriotism shown here with tributes to fallen heros lining the walls. Outdoor back patio is open during COVID-19! I will be back soon!!

Mike Haggstrom

Best read the fantastically written reviews of others on this one. Sitting in the bar was a humbling experience. Makes a person what to do better.

B

The atmosphere is comfortable and somber at the same time. Seeing pictures of fallen military is thoughtful but not in a way that can bring down the mood. It's respect The bartender was very nice. We got burgers and "frings." I got the Yankin bakin (?) and it was delicious. Full of flavor, perfectly cooked bacon. My husband got the Brunch Burger, which looked good and he inhaled it. The frings (half French fries and half onion rings) were amazing. Neither were soggy or overcooked. The crunch of the last onion ring was as crisp as the crunch from the first. Anyone in the area needs to visit this place. Great all around!

Had been staying at the Del and wanted a burger and fries at a reasonable cost. Danny's fit the bill. Its a no frills local bar and grill with a straight forward menu. Service was great, food was good.

L
Lindsey Moore

Definitely a dive, but I love it. Pool table upstairs for amateurs, as it's a bit old and uneven, but free! Full bar and decent beer list. The burgers are all great, but the kitchen closes pretty early which is a bummer.

Went for the 1st time this evening... Great bar and service... Half pound Ortega burger was SPICY and tasty! Guinness was of perfect temperature. Music was a bit loud but nice people at the bar made the evening!

J
Jaime Gonzales

It's a great place for very casual dining. We went there after a 27-mile bike ride. It's kind of a cross between a dive bar for locals and a mom and pop restaurant. We had burgers and they were great. The staff was really nice to us. The prices are very reasonable. We went in the afternoon so I don't know what it's like in the evenings but I hope we get to visit again.

R

Awesome local bar with the best bartender I've met so far, talking to you Jill!

Fabulous bar - great people. Did the Ryan Job HERO wod with our box a week after visiting. Incredibly fun and inspirational. Wonderful people. If you’re looking for a “hole in the wall feel” with Coronado authenticity - go here

J

Such a great history of our navy seal hero’s! Great bar and Rachel, behind the bar, was incredible! Great spot for a patriotic drink! Kitchen closes early, so get there in time for the slam burgers.

F
Fernando Guerrucci

Outstanding place that we found by chance. The burgers are hands down the best ones I have had. We me the owner and had a great conversation getting history on the place over the past 40 years he has owned it. Fair prices and great food - this is the best hidden gem of Coronado!!

D
Daniel “Danny” Laurence

Got great service in the morning! Bartender loaded up the jukebox with vacation jams and was great! Food looked decent, and I think other reviews are right about the size. It's pretty narrow. Would recommend for all husband's waiting for wives pedicures.

Beyond fantastic!! The perfect antithesis AND antidote to the stiff, preppy, stuck-up Uber-rich facade that Coronado has become!!! This place offers GREAT drinks, good prices, fantastic food, and a military themed decor that truly makes you proud to be an American!! Although their fresh ground burger is to die for (cooked to order!!!), the highlight is their day bartender, Heather. Very quick, professional, communicative and humorous. Have been here before a couple years back, but thanks to her, the same excellent chef, and their fresh ground beef, this place is just like fine wine: It only gets BETTER with time!!!

P
Paul Walker

Danny's was rated as the best burger in SD County. And that is no lie. I work nearby and we have gone here for lunch. A burger and a beer. It is a small bar with even a smaller grill off in the corner. There is only one cook so if it is busy lunch can take a few extra minutes, but the tasty food is worth the wait. The staff are always friendly. The beer selection is good, you should always be able to find something you like. Definitely stop by and enjoy a relaxed lunch.

R
Robin Mcclendon

Went with a group of 4. We spent 5 hours there, racked up a 240$ bar bill and it was money well spent! Love the tribute to all hero’s lining the walls of the bar. When you see those men who died Serving it’s no wonder why America is the greatest country the world has ever seen! Drinks were great and service was excellent! If you are on Cornado and your are a red blooded American you should at least go in, have a beer and check it out.

Delicious food. I was on a solo trip in Coronado and ate here every night. The food was great and reasonably priced. I was a solo female traveler and I felt completely comfortable eating alone at the bar due to the nice bar staff. ( different night different ladies). Do not miss their hamburgers!

T

Nice local bar and grill including a friendly wandering dog. We had a couple of slam burgers with beers. The staff was very efficient and friendly. Any bar serving Guinness gets 5 stars from me.

As I described it to my bride..... authentic and hallowed. This place serves up the best bar food and beverages on the island, while paying homage to our fallen heroes. A straight up "Americana" place that respects our flag and those who serve, protect, project and have given the ultimate sacrifice. The Ortega was awesome and fries are special.

Great hole in the wall burger! When I ordered a shot of Jameson, bartender asked if i wanted it pickle back! Yes! Friendly patrons great atmosphere & decor! Def recommend!

Fun and attentive service, chill divey vibes, and delicious food. A biiittt pricey for what you’re getting in terms of food, but considering the area it’s in I’ll give them a break on that.

Overview: Known among locals as the "Navy Seal Bar," this establishment lives up to its reputation as one of the coolest hangout spots in town. My visit here provided unique insights into the heart of the community. Local Vibes: The authenticity of this place shines through, thanks in no small part to its staff, who are proudly local and have a genuine warmth for fellow residents. It's true, this spot isn't particularly tourist-centric, but that's precisely what gives it its charm. Patriotic Support: One thing that's immediately evident is the unwavering support for our troops. The atmosphere here exudes a deep appreciation for the military, and it's heartening to see such a display of patriotism. Conclusion: The "Navy Seal Bar" is more than just a place to hang out; it's a glimpse into the soul of the community. If you're seeking an authentic local experience and a chance to connect with the spirit of support for our troops, this bar is a must-visit. It may not cater to tourists, but that's part of what makes it so special. Embrace the local vibes and take in the patriotic atmosphere—it's an experience worth having.

We love local bars, and Danny’s was a refreshing change from the snootiness of the Coronado. Our bartender Rachel was friendly and helpful. The burgers and FRings were delish and we would happily return, if we didn’t live in Florida. Great spot for a great burger.

Very rough around the edges, but that is a hallmark feature for a local, doozy dive bar in San Diego, which is the type of bar I am a fan of! No frills but drinks were strong and great. Big fan of the support of our troops/Navy Seals in Coronado. Pretty quiet in the evening but was told holidays this place gets very active and full. If you're looking for a delicate and intimate bar, this is not the place for you!! The drinks speak for themselves and the good times that come with it. (p.s. ask about the secret pool room upstairs!)

It was awesome, and honestly what I expected. The food and beer was good and for California l didn't think too expensive? The first bartender I had was awesome (blonde lady, didn't catch her name). The second one kind of ignored me, because I wasn't with the loud group. I get it though, greasy wheel and all. Left a patch from my office, it will be cool to see it on the wall if I ever make it back down here.

SEAL dive bar with all year Christmas lights. Decent draft beer available. I had a good Turkey burger and crispy onion rings.

I was taken here by former navy seals as the bar they would used to hang out at. The burgers are of course what they are known for, basic but good with several different variations offered. The atmosphere is super casual and the prices are great for the island. A nice place to kick back and relax.

This is a hole in the wall on Orange Street in downtown Coronado, but worth the visit. The menu is super simple and straightforward, which is perfect if all you're looking for is a good burger or sandwich. The staff was super friendly and helpful and made our visit very enjoyable. The frogman burger was really good and I would definitely go back to try another one of their variations.

Good, not great. But sometimes in beach towns that's all you can ask for. We read reviews and this was within walking distance of our hotel so decided this would be our first stop in town (plus it wasn't far from the grocery store). We both ordered burgers - which were pretty good. We were there just before the traditional dinner hour and the only table (a few folks at the bar). The bartender was also our server. She wasn't super attentive, or friendly. I asked questions and because they were in 'yes' or 'no' form all I got was a head nod - which is fine, at least she had the answer to the questions. I did read some folks were complaining about the prices - we didn't think that they were unrealistic as compared to the location, so the prices didn't bother us. At all. Would I go again? Yes, likely especially if we stay at the same place. The location is good and in reading reviews it seems as though the food is reliable. thank you for reading my review

Well, waitstaff was very flirty with two guys at the end of the bar. Offered Free Jell-O shots as a thank you for waiting. Lol. Parking, good luck finding side stree parking and be prepared to walk a few blocks. Dive bar and it's almost not clean. Known as a Navy Seal hangout.

Solid almost-dive bar tucked in amongst the shops and restaurants on Coronado! Can definitely tell it's a Navy haunt from the decor and vibes. Not cheap, but cheaper than most other places around the island. Menu is fairly limited; if you're not in the mood for burgers, a single chicken sandwich, or fries/onion rings, don't come here for food. Came for lunch on a Wednesday and it wasn't busy at all. Service was fast, and staff was very friendly and helpful! Ordered an Original Slamburger, a Yankin & Bankin burger, and a half basket of frings (mixed fries and onion rings). Burgers were good, and plenty of cheese on the Y&B, but the patties and grilled onions were slightly overcharred and they were out of some of the standard toppings. Fries were pretty basic, and onion rings were of the battered variety.

K

Burger was good, but come on with the pricing. Super slam burger was $16.00 and a side of fries was $7.00. $24.78 for a burger and fries. Fries were over cooked/terrible. If you're gonna charge $7.00 it should be an enormous quantity of perfect fries. I won't be eating here at these prices. Burger was good...not great. Danny's used to be the best in SD. Now they aren't even in the top 3 in Coronado.

Enjoyable bar. We stopped for lunch. It had a couple servicemen inside and decorated towards respect to those who serve. We appreciated that and specifically came here to show support on 9/11. Thank you!

What a DUMP! Can somebody call BAR RESCUE?? I asked for a basic drink. and was met with ?? The place is shabby and very dated. No money put back into the business. Lots of younger drinkers that knew the bar staff getting too loud and heavy pours. It should be renamed Danny's Dreadful Drinking Hole. I am a native and this place needs a wakeup call REVIEW!!

Horrible place. Avoid at all costs. Incredibly homophobic crowd and a very rude and drunk bartender. If you want to feel safe, don’t go here.
