La Carniceria Wagyu - Costa Mesa

You come here for one thing and one thing only, a huge, delicious steak sandwich - and they deliver. There are a few seating options inside if you want to stay and eat, but it’s more of a takeout place. You can get a half and half of each sandwich which is a nice option to try out a few kinds. I’d recommend the prime steak sandwich or the Wagyu Philly cheesesteak. They also have a house made cheese sauce that comes with it that’s very good. We tried the Mac and cheese with pastrami. It was pretty good, I think they used their cheese sauce on it, but if I were to go back I’d probably just get the sandwich. Portions are hefty, if you’re not super hungry you can definitely split a sandwich with someone. Overall a great sub if you’re looking to indulge!

This is my 3rd visit in 3 weeks. My husband absolutely loves the La Carniceria Burger, he says it’s the best burger in OC. Both the chicken and prime steak bowls are my favorite. This place serves up quality food that is made to order. Each time we have received prompt and great service. Today they recognized me on my 3rd visit. If you are looking for a place that has good quality food, friendly service with a casual atmosphere. Or you have dogs there is 3 tables outside

I was finally able to get lunch without having to wait 30 minutes in the que. Now I know why. This place is AMAZING! I ordered the cheese burger with grilled onions and it was delicious!

Just came here first time, the steak is superb, super fatty! and the portion is super generous for the price. Friendly staff as well, super recoomend for wagyu and halal at that.

Glad to have them in CM! Great selection of fresh made sandwiches/burgers/tacos all made with incredible wagyu. Prices are fair and portions are generous. Had the classic burger, 6oz patty with “new school cheddar” and grilled onions, with fries $13. No better value on the street for the quality and taste. Pastrami on marble rye is another winner. Also, the retail (butchery) meats/sausage/chicken and other items is extensive and a huge selection frozen and some fresh/marinated ready to cook.

I think I had the best sandwich I've ever had in my life today! I had the Prime Steak sandwich and it comes with delicious and tender steak, lettuce, tomato, caramelized, onions, cheese, a little bit of balsamic, and a mild, yummy sauce. I think the bread is the best I've ever tasted, too. It had a consistency and delicious flavor I've never tasted before. SOOOOO YUMMY!!! This is it... PRIME STEAK SANDWICH $23 Balsamic Prime Steak Swiss / Provolone / Caramelized Onions Mix Greens / Lettuce / Heirloom Tomatoes /Pepperoncini Mayo / Dutch Crunch Of course, as the name suggests, it's also a meat market and the meats look amazing! They also have a refrigerator full of different sauces and tortillas (I think they're tortillas) Pictured This place is a must "go to!" You won't be sorry! Lastly, it's mainly a takeout restaurant, but inside they have three 2 seater tables and outside they have four 2 seater tables. Great spot! I ordered the wagyu cheesesteak and it was big enough for two people. Hands down one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. It was served on a Dutch Crunch roll with a side of cheese sauce so you can add as much or as little as you wanted. The woman running the register was so patient and helpful. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu plus they’re ready to cook meat.

I've been buying meat from this place for a while and finally decided to sit down and try the burgers. The smash burger and the smoked pastrami burger were amazing. I'll definitely be going back to sample more from this menu. Highly recommend

Customer service was great. You can see they have a good rapport with returning customers. The shop is quaint and provides seating between two to four people per table. There a few smal tables outside as well. We enjoyed the Prime Steak Sandwich (Half order) and Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich. Both were very good, but the the Prime Steak Sandwich was what really lit my brain up. The marinated Balamic steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The meat was very tender. Mixed with greens, tomatoes and a Dutch crunch bread, it just tasted so good. The Wagyu Pastrami was good as well, but I would have preferred a nice peppered Dijan and more dill pickles. But either way, still good. Important to add, the Prime Steak Sandwich was a half order and was large. Also, for those that this is important, the meat is Halal.

The food at La Carniceria Wague is absolutely amazing! The beef is unlike anything we’ve ever tried in Orange County. You definitely have to visit this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Everything is clean and well-kept. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much, guys!

The pastrami with radish pickles inside was a surprise to me.first time liking the radish. Side onion pickle was super strong in spice. We had Philly steak as well, I would love the steak pieces to be bigger than it was. Great experience Would I go there again? Yes Next table ordered burger and they were super happy. The super thick fries were awesome better than the sandwiches.

I had an amazing experience at La Carniceria Wagyu! The prices are great, and the flavors are even better. They offer $5 Wagyu Tacos every Tuesday, $12 for a half Wagyu Philly Cheesesteak and $10 Wagyu Burger & Fries, which is such a good deal. Plus, they have plenty of other menu options, all at reasonable prices. The Wagyu marbling is beautifully delicate and it melts in your mouth with every bite. It's incredibly tender yet still has that deep, rich beefy flavor. There are also many special deals, so I definitely recommend checking it out. This place is worth the visit!

We asked a staff member for their favorite recommendation, and they suggested the Wagyu Hot House sandwich. Each bite was a perfect balance of spicy, savory, and sweet flavors, leaving me craving more. The combination of high-quality meats and fresh ingredients makes this sandwich an absolute must-try! I had their Wagyu Mac & Cheese after seeing their viral video on IG. The rich, creamy cheese sauce with chunks of Wagyu pastrami was indulgent and satisfying. The smoky Gouda and touch of crema added a depth of flavor that was truly amazing. I can't wait to come back and try more from their diverse menu!

The sandwich here was good. The bread was fresh and the flavors were solid. That said, I couldn’t really tell if the steak was wagyu, as it just tasted like a standard cut of steak to me. I would have happily given this 4 stars if not for the price point. At $26 (around $30 after tax and tip) for a fairly straightforward steak sandwich, it feels steep compared to other great options nearby. If it were priced in the $12–15 range, I could see myself coming back more often. My guess is the high rent in this location contributes to the pricing, which might explain why restaurants here struggle to stick around. Overall, a good sandwich, but not quite worth the cost or the wait time for me.

I ordered a medium rare steak, that came out well done and the grill or griddle, whatever they were cooking it on, they did not clean it well or proceeded to just continue cooking on top of charred remains cause the whole steak was just bitter and unpalatable. Come on, for a place that sells steaks or meats, you don't know how to prepare a medium rare steak? The trio sandwich was overly vinegary. You have a vinaigrette on top of pickled red onions. Vinegar on top of vinegar. It was overly sour. YT people rating this place 5 stars. Don't waste your money.
